Futuristic Those That are Hunted

(I'm waiting for lionesses response because I don't know where you guys landed so I can't get there until I know sorry Hayden!)

Vulcan slowly stood back up on all four so he wouldn't shake her up so much. He licked his nose and sniffed around, trying to find east. Then he went into a lazy trot for Amelie to get used to the shakiness. It wasn't quite like riding a horse simply because canines had a much more flexible spine and a more loose skin around their neck and back.

Luckily for them the area had been evacuated fairly well and there were almost no people in the streets to spot them. Once they were out of town Vulcan snorted in relieve - nothing and no one to worry about. He transitioned into a fast trot, then into canter, feeling the wind go through his fur and ears. He hadn't had a good run for too long. Running away from danger as it was the case in the last few days couldn't count. He had picked a nice hidden road in the forest - small and surrounded by thick bushes and trees to stay hidden and big enough so that tree branches wouldn't hit them in the face.

Vulcan had to slow down from time to time to catch his breath. Even after his dear old friend had restored his health and strength, he wasn't too much of a runner. With strength and size came the disadvantage of speed and maneuverability.

He didn't know how much time had passed when his nose finally caught the scent of human presence. He stopped at the edge of the forest to look at the small town and examine it. It looked quite cozy really. In the distance he spotted the small house with the red roof Amelie had mentioned, outstanding from all the other buildings. But now it was time for Amelie to get down. He couldn't stay a huge wolf and simply enter a town he didn't know. He laid down for her to dismount, then shifted back human, stretching his back and arms. This was the first time he had ever carried someone on his back and the feeling was a bit strange. It would take some getting used to.

"We'll have to walk that part... Oh, and brush off your clothes a little bit."

When he first started going Amelie had to find a way to stay on without bouncing all over the place. She was much more coordinated on the the ground. It felt like forever till they reached the edge of the forest but really it had only been 45 minutes. When she saw the red roof her face lit up. When Vulcan laid down she took that as her cue to get off. When he turned back she gave him a peck on the cheek. "Thank you. Hopefully I wasn't too heavy to carry." Amelie did what he said and brushed off the wolf hair to the best of her abilities. Taking his hand she lead him to the house. Once they were near she let go of his hand. "I"m warning you now, he has camera's everywhere. Even if you can't see them they are there." She walked up on the door and before she could knock it was open. The man who opened it stood about 5ft10. He had on a pair of black slacks and a long sleeved collard shirt with a red tie that hung loose around his neck, like the man had just come home from work. His bright blue eyes glared at Vulcan as he crossed his arms. After a minute Amelie coughed and the man looked at her. "Well Amelie I didn't think you'd be bringing a friend over, much less a guy."

"Alec, this is Vulcan. Vulcan this is my brother, Alec. You can trust him." She whispered the last part to Alec and put a hand on his shoulder. Alec's body visibly relaxed at his sister's touch. "Nothing I can do about it now. He already knows where I am. Come on in." He moved to the side to let them in. Amelie walked in first, to her right was the living room that just had a couch and flat screen tv. To her right was the kitchen and strait a head was a small isle way that led to the bedrooms and the stairs to the basement. Amelie knew everything looked normal up here and despite her brother being wealthy, it didn't really show here. But she knew it was a different story in the basement where he kept his computers and gadgets. After they both walked in her looked around outside before closing the door again. "SO what are you Vulcan. Last I checked my sister doesn't do partners."

"You are light as a feather, Amelie. No worries." He used the moment of her leaning down to get the hairs off of her clothes to pinch his cheek and hopefully get rid of the redness there that had probably immediately happened after the peck. Why is this happening to me every time?!

He let himself being led to the house, looking around, examining the area. Cameras everywhere? Vulcan was quite used to cameras. He had lived for years at the gas station surrounded by hundreds of those tiny electrical devices. So even well hidden and with matte lenses he could spot some of them around. He tried not to stare at one of it attached to the door but rather to just give it a quick glance. If Amelie trusted him, which of course she did - he was her brother after all and she seemed to care a lot about him - so could he. When the door opened Vulcan didn't quite know what to say at first because of the suspicious looks that the man gave him. He gulped, about to say Hi, when luckily for him Amelie discontinued the awkwardness and saved him the introduction part. When they entered Vulcan inhaled deeply, trying not to show it too much, taking in all the smells, memorizing them. His sense of smell was sometimes better than looking around. The whole place smelled like electronics. There were strategically hidden cameras all over the place but also lots of other things... well hidden and out of sight. Before Vulcan could devote it more attention he was detached from his thoughts. What I am? "From what I've heard you don't really need me explaining what my gift is. Nice to meet you." He gave him a hand in greeting, smiling kindly. Perhaps a little late but better than not at all.

"Yes and it is quite frightening to look at." All Alec could stare at was the pitch black aura that surrounded Vulcan. At some instances he thought her could see a figure but ignored it. He glanced at his sister's and saw the light blue color that was distinct to only her. "But that's not what I was asking. Ems has never brought anyone over." Amelie was starting to think this wasn't a good idea. Alec, sensing how Amelie was getting uncomfortable, sighed and shook Vulcan's hand. "I'm guessing this isn't a normal visit? Can I help you with something."

Frightening? Yes, perhaps he was to some extend. Vulcan wasn't good at hiding the animal underneath its human disguise. Not only did his wild character show more often than he or the people around him were comfortable with, his figure showed it as well, especially if one was to spend some more time around him, have time to notice those traits - yellow eyes, sharper teeth, faster hair growth, extraordinary stamina... "Well, I guess your sister and I have become quite... close in these past few weeks. But I don't think that's the main reason she allowed me to accompany her. I was told, and was hoping, you could help with a matter of mine." He lifted his palm and called upon an orb, holding it with two fingers in place so it wouldn't go off flying around like the first time and accidentally knock something down.

Alec gasped when the orb appeared. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. "What is it Alec?" To him it wasn't just an orb. He could see a person with or bright where the heart should be. "I have never seen something like this before." He walked up to him to take a closer look. He could see a flicker a something inside it. "How are you able to do this? Last I checked you are a shifter not someone who summon the power of the dead."

"This is a long story. Perhaps we should take a seat. I've been running miles to get here." The soul orb was showing a mix of feelings. It wasn't looking particularly happy about being squeezed in Vulcans hand but at the same time its long smokey tail was wrapping around his wrist and along his forearm. There was no warmth, nor cold radiating from its body but there was a hint of life in it nevertheless. The red blood-like liquid inside was behaving almost like a living organism, beating like a tiny heart.

Alec raised and eye brow at that. "You ran? Since when do you run?" Amelie blushed and Alec glared at her. He would have to talk to her later about that. He wasn't sure if he was comfortable with his sister being with someone from the government. But now wasn't the time. "Take a seat in the kitchen I'll make some food as you talk." Alec remembered when he was first able to see the dead. It didn't scare him. He didn't make many friends. For the short time his sister was in school with him she scared everyone off. Even after she became home schooled he kept or himself so the ghost were good company. Alec pulled out a pan and some meat. Mine as well make hanburgers. Amelie took a seat at the table. She was happy he was ok. She knew he could take care of himself and the security measures were really good, but she always worried for him. She looked at Vulcan and patted the chair next to her. "Even I don't exactly know what happened."

Vulcan dismissed the soul orb and sat next to Amelie. He didn't want it hindering his movements nor let it fly freely. No one had touched it so far besides him - neither Amelie nor Xander and he was afraid of what might happen if they did. He could smell the food and was thankful for it, especially for the fact that neither of them was vegetarian.

"This is a gift..." Vulcan hesitated at first but then realized that this was something he better discuss with someone who he assumed actually knew something about it, rather than being questioned from the government and know nothing "...from Death. My first encounter with the Reaper was when I was still very young. It was a harsh winter. I couldn't find food, nor shelter. I thought I was going to die. And I did... Well", he chuckles "obviously I didn't. When I died I landed in the spirit realm, Death himself standing before me, smiling grimly, while I on the other hand was looking at him with an expression saying Stop wasting my time and lets just get this over with. I've seen people die around me and had thought nothing of it. I didn't know who or what Death was, nor did I care to. Perhaps he was surprised that I wasn't frightened and offered me my life back." Vulcan taps on his chest where the verse was written "Never knew why he chose me in particular. Could have been any orphan kid really, living and withering out there in the streets. Since then I've had some extraordinary luck in almost any matter concerning death - from fights that should have ended badly for me to motorcycle crashes and so on. Today I got this." he pulls the sleeve on his shirt up a little to show the muster drawn all over his skin "There are souls trapped inside the shells and trapped inside the spirit realm. Basically standing in line in front of Heaven's gate. There are supposed to be powers hidden inside, which after being used up, cause the shell to shatter and release the spirit."

Alec was silent for a moment. The only noise being the meat sizzling on the pan. "I've never met someone who has come back but your aura makes sense based on what you said." He flipped the burgers. When Vulcan lifted up the sleeved he turned to look at the muster. "I wouldn't let your higher ups know about this. They will probe you and do experiements. Not my people meet the reaper and live to tell the tale. You sure picked an interesting one Ems." He pulled out three plates and took out buns. Placing the meat on the buns and put the plates on the table along with ketchup and mustard. "Dig in." Amelie put ketchup on and took a bite. ~mmmm actual food.~ Alec took a seat across form them. "Well there isn't much I can tell you about it o her than that is a person's soal. I can see flickers of soemthing more in them but I think it's not something I'm supposed to see. I can only see so much with my gift and I rather keep it that way. Us gifted may not be natural to this world but that thing shouldn't be able to exist without a host. But hey what do I know. I've never met the reaper."

"The government will find out sooner or later. If these things indeed have powers stored inside, which I dearly hope they do, then I intend to use them." he pulls the sleeve back on. Right now they didn't look as much - nothing more than tattoos and unless they decided to glow up again no one would notice a thing. "Ems. Amelie, I think I got you your nickname.", he chuckles and glances at her with the edge of his eye. Luckily the food arrived before Amelie could scold him for calling her nicknames. "Laying eyes on the true image of the Angel of death will either blind you or drive you insane... But believe it or not, he likes to talk quite a lot and also joke... poorly. That guy has got no sense of humor, none at all. Dying isn't the only way of communication, mind you. He can take on many forms. His human guise can be particularly annoying." Vulcan takes a bite from the burger but then looks at it with a bit of confusion. He opens the buns and eats the meat, leaving the bread on the plate... carnivore. He then rises from his seat. "I think I may go for a walk around town, explore the area. Besides, you two haven't seen each other for how long? Months? You probably have a lot to talk about. No worries, I'll be fine. Won't be long."

Amelie would never understand what they were talking about and would like to keep it that way. She only wanted to see the god of death when she was dead. When Vulcan got up to leave she was about to protest but decided against it. He was right they did need to talk. "Just be careful ok? They may not know us here but I don't want it to be known that we are here." When Vulcan left Alec turned turned his attention to Amelie. "I don't like you being with him. I don't trust him." Amelie sighed and leaned back in her chair. "You don't trust anyone Alec."

"Yes But I have my reasons. I've seen what they do to us if we don't willing join them."

"I was the one who recruited him. He willingly came to me."

"That means nothing. People have changed their minds before."

Amelie bit her bottom lip. Did she want to tell him everything? Seeing Alec's stare she assumed yes. "Alec, Vulcan and I...well we are kind of a thing." If looks could kill Amelie would be having that visit with death. She had to push herself to continue. "There is a rebellion starting in the next town over. The girl who is leading it is like a sister to him and she has tried to get him to return to her so many times but he didn't leave. Alec he says...he says he loves me." Amelie suddenly heard laughing. "He loves you? How do you know he isn't using you like the others did?" Amelie's eyes narrowed at her brother. "And that rebellion is idiotic. I've seen it they are going to get squashed like a bug." Alec stood up and started to clean the dishes. "They are going at everything all wrong. Plus they are too small to actually do something besides cause damage to the innocents around them."

"You're right about that. Half the city got burned by one of their shifters."

"And the deaths were caused by a rogue agent who can't control his anger problems." he interrupted her. "You seem to forget what I really do on those computers. But I guess if you trust him I can't do anything about that." He heard moving behind him and before he could turn around Amelie gave was giving him a hug. Alec sighed and twisted around in him arms and patted her head. Sometime he felt like the older one, watching over her, but that wasn't really true. Amelie was risking her life making sure he didn't get found. "How long do you think he will be gone for?" Amelie shrugged.

When Vulcan walked outside, the sun was slowly setting - his time was drawing near - night. He headed for the main road, looking around, sniffing, eavesdropping on conversations. It wasn't a big town but it looked like a nice place to live in. It had everything one would need to lead a peaceful life - from supermarkets to a public school. Night hours also offered one a good look on the criminal world - almost nonexistant here as it seemed. Vulcan could see himself living in a smaller town one day, away from the hustle and bustle of the big city - something that could never happen. Unless of course there was such thing as retirement for agents.

Vulcan turns into a poorly lit side street, his eyes quickly adjusting to the darkness, flashing every time light hits his pupils. There was a pub up ahead - the best source of information one could find. A quick glance at the bouncers tells them they better not mess with him and they let him in willingly. The loud music booms in his sensitive ears at first but he quickly gets used to the feeling and walks to the bar. Bartenders were great talkers but the accuracy of the information depended on how much money you were willing to spend. Vulcan didn't want to get Alec in any trouble and besides, he had seen a big part on the town already - fairly enough to be able to orientate in a tense situation, which he dearly hoped they would avoid. "Beer" He did not intend to get drunk either. That would leave quite a bad impression. He took the ice cold beverage and sipped from it. A young lady, dressed in some attractive leathers and heavy make-up approaches him, stroking his arm seductively. "New around here, honey? I can show you around..." Vulcan however interrupts her and pulls away, glaring at her darkly, a clear warning in his yellow flashing eyes "I'm taken." The girl gets the idea and quickly backs away. Vulcan leaves his drink half full and gets a move on. He had told Amelie that he wouldn't be long and he intended on keeping to his word.

This time he takes a shortcut through the alleys instead of walking back to the main road. He notices a boy cowering behind a dumpster a few meters away from him. A normal human being would probably have some troubles recognizing the young thief in the darkness but then again, Vulcan was no ordinary human. The pickpocket jumps from behind his cover, turning a flashlight on, pointing it in his victims face, holding a knife in the other hand. "You money or your life!" Vulcan resists the urge to yawn and instead looks at the boy with obvious boredom. Suddenly he charges the thief, grabbing the wrist of the hand holding the knife and bending it till the weapon drops to the ground, slapping the boy hard across the face with his free hand afterwards. "Bad career choice, lad! If you haven't gotten good at robbing people till now you aren't gonna become good anytime soon." After the youngster has been released he sprints away as fast as his legs could hold him. Vulcan sighed as he looked back at the boy in the distance. Those kids, like himself once, never learned, until it was too late for regrets.

He finally got to the small house with the red roof and knocks on the door, smiling at one of the cameras attached to the frame.

When Amelie heard the knock on the door, she and Alec were watching tv in the living room. A small square showed up in the corner of the screen showing that it was Vulcan at the door. Amelie quickly got up and opened the door with a smile on her face. "I was wondering when you were coming back." She took his hand in hers ans pulled him into the house. Seeing this Alec wasn't sure how he felt about them actually being together. "You can stay in my room tonight Amelie." Said person rolled her eyes. "I'm fine. Its not like I'm a little kid." Alec stood up and walked over to them. "Then you have to go set up the guest bed." Amelie groaned, letting go of Vulcan's hand, and headed down the hall.

Once Amelie was out of sight Alec started talking, "Just because she trusts you doesn't mean I do. To be honest I have never met a gifted whose aura was dark like yours. Deals with death aren't always good. If you hurt her in any way," Alec was cut short when Amelie returned. He put a smile on his face and Amelie looked at him funny. "The bed is ready."

"That's good. I wont be going to bed any time soon but you two can whenever you want. Goodnight Amelie, Vulcan." Alec turned and headed down the isle to the basement. "Well that was weird." She mumbled. "Did he say something to you?"

Alec clearly mistrusted him but Vulcan was more than willing to prove him wrong. Words would probably not do the job but actions in the future would. Vulcan wasn't the thug he used to be, not since he had met Amelie. Change was a thing and he had achieved it. On second thought, Amelies brother was behaving quite justly. If he had trusted anyone easily he would have probably been captured by the government a thousand times already.

"He simply is a bit suspicious of me but he'll eventually come around. Don't worry about it." He reaches for her hand and kisses it softly, looking deeply into her icy-blue eyes. They had a magical, almost hypnotizing, effect on him. He adored her perfect lines, her flawless pale skin and long raven-colored hair, but what he had fallen in love with was on the inside - her bravery and kindness, compassion and love. Wise men said that the eyes are the windows to ones soul and it was the undeniable truth.

Kytha continues searching around above the city her wings beginning to grow heavy. Just because her items weren't hanging on her didn't mean she couldn't feel them. "Guys where are you?" She screeches again beginning to get worried. Suddenly she feels her body being pulled down and something wrapping around her beak. She lands hard on a building roof and panics as she begins sliding down the steep roofing. "He-!" Her voice is cut short when she feels something grab her. She is lifted into the sky and she wiggles but has no luck. She is dropped a few minutes later and looks up to see a smallish dragon perched on a branch I a tree beside her.<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2015_02/image.jpg.bfad2f7141b2c68f72a7dd04a1a2abc1.jpg" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="42190" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2015_02/image.jpg.bfad2f7141b2c68f72a7dd04a1a2abc1.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

She stares in horror at it. And hears a raspy voice that clings to her mind. " hello shifter. I have brought you here for a reason. I have watched you and your rebellion for quite a while now and see its about time I give you this." The dragon pulls out a large sphere from under herself and drops it in front of Kytha. "What is it?" She asks worriedly and shifts into a wolf.

"It is my children. The ones who haven't ever grown up. My time is ending and I want to give you this power. I, believe it or not was once a gifted as well but have gotten stuck in my dragon form as you can see. Therefore I became a mother and these are all the 'runts'. Smash this orb on the ground and all of them shall appear and be on your side for battle. Along with that, I have one particularly smart daughter I am giving to you and she will travel at your side. I am perishing so use these wisely. Please also take my body. You won't be as large as your other dragon friend but you will be big enough."

A small dragon appears on the tree in front of Kytha and she looks at it curiously.<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2015_02/image.jpg.ff19fae1191b025bed347797ced81e20.jpg" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="42191" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2015_02/image.jpg.ff19fae1191b025bed347797ced81e20.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p> After a minute her head jerks towards the dragon. "Thank you. This means a lot to me. I will promise you that you will not be disgraced." She says calmly and watches as the dragons life begins to exit it's body. She feels her heart pound faster and her body begin to change. She looked down at her feet and sees large claws. She swivels her head and sees magnificent wings, she was now a dragon. She outstretched the wings and grabs the orb and sees the little dragon fly up beside her.

Heading back into town she easily spots the two from a distance. She flies up to the building and lands.

"What the?!" Hayden shoots back up and readies his fists, charging essence... nothing happened. He takes a look back at his hand, it wasn't glowing red, it didn't do anything. What's happening? He takes a quick gaze at the dragon, it was now on the knife, it was his last hope of living. He takes the knife and reserve gripped it, he knows he can't kill the dragon, yet at least he tried.

(Sorry! I stopped getting notifications from this rp. :'(

Xander sighed and stood from the alley as he began walking back to the Lucky Inn with his elemental companions on either shoulder and at his side. Today had been one hell of a day and more than anything, Xander just wanted a day of rest to recover. He could feel his powers really dwindling and his companions would soon dissipate because of this. Walking through the inn and then back to his room, Xander did his best to ignore the bodies everywhere. All he had to do was flash his Agent ID when the cops showed up and they'd leave him alone so he wasn't too concerned about anything. Entering his room, his fire wolf jumped onto the end of the bed and curled up, falling asleep almost immediately. Xander soon followed suit as he dismissed his phoenix and dragon before slumping in bed, exhaustion hitting him immediately.

Piper already strongly disliked Hayden. Right now, she was torn with indecision as she was strongly considering leaving these crazy rebels behind. They were going to do her no good and would only bring her down, especially with Hayden's compulsive actions. Sighting a dragon in the distance, Piper watched it with curiosity, not at all feeling scared of it. Seeing Hayden's actions, Piper said calmly, "Chill out, dude. Your little flimsy knife isn't going to do shit to a dragon. I can fight it if need be, but it could very well be friendly so don't provoke it."

Amelie felt heat rise to her cheeks. She would never get used to the way he treated her. Vulcan was nothing like people she had been with in the past. They didn't actually care for another, men had used her just like she used them. But Vulcan was different and she didn't entirely know why. Yes there was the obvious things, like the way he looked at her and protected her. To be honest, she was ready to kill him the first time she went after him. She almost laughed at the thought. Laughing... she had stopped laughing when she chose to leave her family, but something happened the night Hayden's shard pierced through her. Whatever it was made her feel happy now but she knew it wasn't going to last long. It never does but I should enjoy it while I can. "My brother just doesn't want to see me get hurt. He knows how I got to where I am and he thinks that's exactly whats going on between us." Amelie put her hand up and cupped his cheek and looked into his beautiful golden eyes. "I love you." She had to stand on her tip toes to giver him a kiss. Sometimes she forgot how tall he was in comparison to her.

Right before his sister went to kiss Vulcan Alec switched to a different camera, one that was outside, and leaned back in his office chair. Sighing he wasn't sure if this was a god or bad thing that his sister found someone. He lifted his foot up on the desk and pushed himself over to the the computer on the other side. The wheels on the chair squeaked as it rolled across the tile. There where three monitors up. One had the view in front of the Lucky Inn, which still had armored vehicles and personnel. The second one had two views of the street that got destroyed in the fight. It looked like the medical team had showed up and was looking for survivors of the people who couldn't get evacuated. The third one kept switching views between the all the cameras in the city. Searching for the rebellion group. "It's going to be a long night." He muttered.

"I would never hurt you or let anyone hurt you ever again. I promise... I love you too." His eyes gaze at her lovingly, he feels his ears burning red, his heart beating faster with excitement and nervousness, head leaning slightly to the side to avoid their noses from bumping into one another, taking in the kiss. Vulcan puts his hands around her waist, moving closer and at the same time pulling her gently in. Her icy fresh breath fills his lungs, his lips overlapping her soft bottom lip. Then he withdraws, leaning his forehead on hers, never taking his eyes off of hers. He shouldn't rush her. Patience, love was not always ideal. It was just love.

When Vulcan put his hands around her waist she put her arms around his neck. When he pulled away she smiled softly at him. "Good. Now I don't know about you but it's been a long day and I'm ready to sleep." Amelie wished she could be like a normal person her age. To go out to bars and be out till odd hours in the morning. To go out on a date. Thinking about all of it made her realize that not many gifted get to live a complete life. She hardly knew any that had a family either and she understood that. The fear of passing on their mutated genes went through most people's minds. Don't put yourself in a bad mood Amelie. You finally got to see your brother and you are on vacation, as much as one you can get, with the man you love. She pulled away and released her hold on him. Knowing that she was safe here, she let herself feel drained. Taking his hand she led him to the bedroom. It wasn't anything special, had dressers and a queen sized bed. All she did to get ready was take off her cloak and put her hair up before getting into the bed.

Vulcan tried not to stare as she dressed up. Instead he first looked around, detecting some of the cameras, then walked over to the only window and drew the curtains. This was a one story building and he wanted his privacy. Besides, if one of those cameras outside was to be hacked, which was easier compared to the ones inside, the government would know where the two agents were off to and that of course would put the three of them in danger. Discretion was the better part of valour. Then he followed Amelie in bed, playing with a loose strand from her hair. "Goodnight, beautiful."

Kytha giggles internally at Hayden action and turns human putting the orb in her pocket and watches as the dragon lands on her shoulder "haha scared ya!" She says running up to Hayden playfully. She turns to piper "you ready to go? I can carry Hayden so you can just follow me."

Piper frowned at Kytha, not at all liking that someone as unstable as her had the gift of the dragon, even if it wasn't as formidable as her own form. Sighing, Piper sat down on the edge of the roof and waved backwards at Kytha, "Carry on without me. I'm done here." She wasn't willing to put her own life on the line for this small ragtag team of misfit gifteds who couldn't even keep proper control over their own powers or personalities.
