This is it, the apocalypse 1x1

"Not fair, as we've both been choking on ash for years, pretty much become immune to that," Gabriel replied, pulling out clothes for himself, along with a cloak to cover his wings once they'd been folded tightly against his back. He settled for tying the million strings that seemed to accompany every item of clothing except the long black fabric. "Liked everything about this century but the knots. How long does it take to invent Velcro?" he muttered, tying the last one before standing up again and donning the cloak. His scythe would have to go - it didn't fit. Swords however, were much more common...

Aiden grunted, turning and changing into what he was given, it was more or less comfortable, but he was already missing his hoodie. 'This country' was a little old for his taste but oh well. He couldn't help that now. He examined himself, despite not having a mirror, he went with what he could see. It wasn't that bad, he supposed, hopefully he wouldn't lose his temper and ruin that for himself. Crossing his arms, he turned his neck to crack it either way, a bad habit he'd picked up. Speaking of, he thought about something else he'd miss, smoking. He wondered if they had what he needed to accomplish that, it was a decent stress reliever and he wouldn't have to worry about the consequences of it either, or he didn't.

Gabriel had disappeared into the basement while Aiden dressed, searching for a worthy weapon. Chains and maces, swords, longbows, spears, daggers - and all forged from angelfyre. Helpful, even here. He wasn't great with long distance weapons, and agility and strength were his strong suits, so he went for the swords after picking up a couple daggers. The two he selected were fairly normal looking from a distance, with the crossed guards and straight sharp edged blades. When he touched the hilt however, the symbols etched into the blade made themselves known and he grinned. He was going to have fun with these two. He went back up the stairs, the identical swords strapped to his back as he carried up a bag of supplies, as long as an empty one, tossing the latter to Aiden. "In place of the backpack," he explained, rather guiltily. He hated to remove the last thing from earth from the man, but they couldn't be discovered. There was a time that outsiders were welcomed in this world, and thanks to the war, the present was far from it

Aiden's eyes traced it as it flew through the air then hit the floor. Ah. Of course. Get rid of everything was it? Mm, he didn't need souvenirs anyways...Or...He shuffled through the backpack, sure that he was going to have to get rid of it, but there was one last thing that he could collect- and no angel or outsider was going to take them from him. He'd give his life up before he let that happen. The hybrid dragged out the clinking metals, which turned out to be dog tags. Something was etched on them, it wasn't English but Aiden knew well what they meant, he didn't know how but he did. He took pride in what was on them, valued them like a dragon valued treasure, and they were his. He strung the small chain around his neck and stuffed them under his clothing. One couldn't even tell he had them on. That said, he grabbed the substitute bag and kept it in hand.

"So...road trip?"

He headed for the door, pushing it open once he was sure he had all that was needed for the said trip. Castle Redmont really wasn't that far away by horse, as long a they didn't run into any problems on the way there. He headed for the stables, eyeing the group of horses that stuck their heads out to greet him. He stepped inside, winkling his nose at the smell, but grabbed a saddle and walked back out to Aiden. "Pick a horse, any horse," he drawled, with a knowing smile.

Aiden, not caring to stick his hands in his pockets as that was uncomfortable, kept his arms crossed as he wandered out after the other. Oh god sun. His eyes closed almost instantly, so that's what it looked like. Well hello there. That was bright, and something you should not stare at. He was learning quickly. He opened his eyes slowly, adjusting even slower, to find Gabriel with a saddle. Any horse. Right. Aiden looked them over, it really didn't matter right? It didn't but...Despite his height, and the possibility of being trampled under foot, his eyes landed on the Shire horse who was staring back at him. He liked that one. He liked it's black, shiny fur and it's overly fluffy hooves. The horse went for his hair when he approached it, he didn't stop it. He wasn't sure if this hair chewing meant it liked him or not, but it wasn't trying to kill him.

Gabriel smiled in spite of himself at the way the energetic mare interacted with Aiden. "She likes ya," He offered, going around them both to strap on the saddle. Took a good bit of effort too, he was pretty rusty. He tightened the straps until convinced it was secure before stepping back and spinning around to choose his own horse - a white Irish sport horse with big blue eyes. He knew this horse, and it knew him. Regardless, he did not expect it to lick him upside the head.

Aiden eyed the beast, she needed a name, a good one. A nice one that would fit a female. The horse had been done chewing his hair for a while and was returning his stare, although he wasn't sure if she was studying him like he was her "Chéri." It was faint and under his breath, barely ther, but he could see the horses ears strain forward to hear her new found name, though he wasn't sure if that's what he would call her, she was. Seemingly thrilled to be named, she bumped foreheads with him. Now...He somehow needed to get on this horse, and he was not doing it with help. He could do this on his own. Some how.

So he wasn't the only one who named his horse...the mentioned 'Stefan' looked at him as if to relay in a look rather than sound that he was an idiot, but a well missed idiot. "Missed you too, buddy," Gabriel scoffed, but stroked the horse's head softly anyway. They both watched Aiden and his newfound companion, and then as the man tried to figure out a way to get on to his horse. Deciding not to offer, Gabriel waited with a smirk to see how long it would take for Aiden to ask for help - or how many times it's take for him to hop high enough to scramble on. Either way it was amusing to both the angel and his blue eyed animal.

"Chéri," Aiden said, staring at the creature, who turned to him "aide-moi ici." Obviously the horse understood him as he hopped up, griping her fur, her muzzle went under his feet and pushed him up. The small hybrid looked more than accomplished. He was tiny but his horse wasn't and that was all that mattered to him at the moment...Well that and the fact that he hadn't been an amusement show for the other- who he knew had been waiting for entertainment damn him. He was even more pleased, though, that him and his horse had a sense of communication- even if it wasn't in English. That was even better, it would mean she wouldn't listen to anyone else if they were to try to steal her. Brilliant.

Stefan flicked his ears once, impressed with the little human. 'Where'd you pick up this one?'

Gabriel saddled his own horse, shaking his head before climbing on. "Fair enough," he spoke to Aiden, knowing the man would know what he was referring to. He then pressed his heels into Stefan's flank, urging him out of the stable, and into the yard, standing and waiting for Aiden to follow. He had no doubt that if the man didn't know how to ride, 'Chéri' could help him through it. "I'll explain where exactly we'e going on the way."

Chéri followed after the other horse, Aiden blinked. Riding a horse was weird. He'd have to deal with it for, what had Gabriel said? An hour? That wasn't too bad, and at least this wasn't one of those stubborn horses. Or was he thinking of a mule? He shrugged it off, leaning into the horse's neck, who didn't seem to mind, as they continued on. Aiden knew Shire horses were mostly meant as work horses, or so he'd read somewhere, but Chéri seemed to have no problem riding, and thus maybe that wasn't always the case. At least her fur was good for deflecting the sun, although it didn't shine, her fur was soft enough for Aiden to enjoy it. Chéri would have to be his Matthias of the Limbo world. He just hoped he wouldn't have to leave this one behind.

Gabriel waited until Aiden had caught up with him before riding again. "Alright. Crash course of Limbo. There are only four main places ya need to know. Redmont - and its 50 fiefdoms, the land of Infernum, Terra Mortius, and the forest of souls. We've already been through that last one," Gabriel explained, noticing several beings out and about as they got closer to civilization. They must have landed in a vampire territory, judging by the pale fanged beings that eyed them before going back to whatever work they'd been doing.

Redmont, Land of Infernum, Terra Mortius, Forest of Souls. Aiden had done his best to memorize those, all while being distracted by the pale figures, was it not for the fangs, he might've fit right it. Of course they had sun, they'd no excuse to be pale, he'd been neglected that for years and it showed. Maybe he could grow fangs if he thought about it hard enough. He'd have to try that later, just for kicks, but it didn't much matter. He doubted they were coming back here any time soon. In the mean time Aiden avoided the stares that made him so uncomfortable.

"What's with you and being looked at?" Gabriel wondered out loud, watching Aiden grow rather uncomfortable from the stares of the vampires. No doubt they were curious as to why two humans were riding straight through the middle of vampire country. He genuinely didn't get it. There's no way Aiden was shy, was there? Maybe just standoffish. "You're interesting to watch, if you can believe it. I'm sure the vampires agree with me," he added with a wink, before turning his green orbs back to the road.

Aiden made a small noise under his breath, it almost sounded like...Hissing, sort of, more like a cat less like a snake, but that was about the only sound he made. He didn't even look at the other, still leaned against Chéri's neck, he was tired. His awakening had not been fun, though if he fell asleep now he'd probably fall off- and miss whatever this new world had to offer. Of course, on the other hand, if he did fall asleep he wouldn't have to deal with the other and his devilish comments that never ceased to make him react some way some how. He hated him for that too. By the end of the day, Aiden would probably hate him for a lot of things. Not that he already didn't.

Gabriel sighed, deciding to give the man a break from his prodding. For now. His horse made a noise that ounded suspiciously close to a chuckle and the angel glared downwards. "What did I do now?"

'You like him. Why?'

"Shhh. I do not."

'Oh but you do..."

"He hates me," Gabriel scoffed quietly, flicking the horse in the head. "I don't know what you're talking about, and I don't like anybody."

'You're blushing. Since when do angels blush, Gabriel? Is that even supposed to happen?'

"Would you be quiet? He already thinks i'm crazy, does he really need to see me talking to you?" Gabriel huffed, and his horse was silent for a few minutes, leading the man to believe he'd actually given up Sadly, Stefan was persistent. Very persistent.

'What happened in the Grigori house?'

"Nothing happened! Nothing! What are you even getting at here?" Gabriel nearly exploded, nearly failing to keep his voice down. "Wait how did you know I was even...ughhh. You fuzzy bastard," he sighed, leaning back in the saddle while his horse continued to laugh at him, but thankfully didn't say any more, leaving the angel with a good half hour of peace himself.

Aidne blinked, watching the two back and forth, he wasn't sure if they were talking or just making faces at each other but they were doing something. Why did he attract the weird ones? He turned his head the other way and watched the scenery go by, he could feel Chéri lift her head to try and look at him, his eye lids drooped. Or maybe she was trying to make sure he didn't fall off, either one worked. He liked her loyalty of not letting him fall. He wondered if she could talk, if she could, it was probably in French. It's what she responded to, and how Aiden knew it, he imagined he'd learned it somewhere back in his missing memories. A shame they were gone, it was like having a void in the back of your head that you could never fill, always nagging at you to remember when you knew well that you couldn't.

"You still alive, Aiden? We've got ten more minutes," he called out, before taking another bite of an apple he'd brought. Human food never ceased to appease him, and he savored the taste on his tongue. He'd been pondering Stefan's words from before, and he come to several conclusions. First - Aiden didn't exactly like Gabriel...but hate...the angel didn't know. He could have sworn at times, there may have been a bit of companionship, who knows? Second - he did. He'd never admit it, but he did enjoy the other's company. In other words, he'd be pissed if the guy died on his watch. Third - he really really hoped Stefan wasn't insinuating something totally different with the meaning of the word like. He didn't even want to blow his own brain with that sort of thinking...that and the fact that his relationships never really worked out well. In fact, they tended to have terrible consequences.

Aiden didn't reply, he'd fallen back asleep at this point. The sun was burning his eyes, his...Whatever the hell he would call Gabriel, was talking to his own horse, and he'd been tired anyways so why not. Chéri was doing an excellent job of keeping him on her and he would thank her for it later in a shower of affectionate pets and headbutts, which apparently to her meant a lot for whatever reason. Maybe he could start talking to her like the other did, but that was weird. Eye contact and body language would have to do for now, he would also have to teach her some English because his French was little more than rusty, but oh well, not that it mattered too much.

The Castle Redmont rose high above the trees, set on a mountain. It's white walls shone brilliantly in the sunlight, as the flags flew above the gates. He removed the hood that had been pulled over his head, as there was no point anymore once the horses had brought them through and onto the kingdom's land. Huge statues decorated the castle on its sides, no doubt the warriors that had first fought to defend it. This...this was more like a city. All kinds of beings were walking through the streets, obviously with many different purposes. And then there were the Nephillim. Half angel, half human warriors - they ruled over Redmont. He wasn't surprised.

Aiden's eyes cracked open when Chéri bucked her head back in an attempt to wake him up. It was super effective. The umber colored orbs fluttered open, from what it looked like they'd entered somewhere. He didn't much know where that was, he was assuming that it was where they'd been headed- the name was fuzzy. Red something. He'd remember it later. Probably. Sitting up straight he shook off the weariness and waited for his vision to focus, once again greeted with unfamiliar territory. Chéri looked back at him, as if waiting for a reaction to their new area, whether it be disgust or an impressed expression. She got neither, the hybrid carried a blank look on his face, causing the mare to wonder for a second just what was going through his mind right then.

"Welcome back to the land of the living," Gabriel said, noticing the movement from atop the other horse. Two guards took notice of them as they rode towards the gates. As one of them raised his hands in a clear gesture to stop, Gabriel slowed to stand in front of them.

"Who are you? What's you're business inside the castle Redmont?" The man asked. He was clad in almost full body armor, with a long gold cloak behind him. Gabriel looked from Aiden to the guard before answering, rather quietly.

"My name is Gabriel Lightwood - "

"Lightwood?!" The younger man, obviously new to the job, cut him off in his surprise. "You mean...you're the archangel - "

"Yes, I am, and I'd really not like the entire kingdom knowing it," Gabriel hissed under his breath, the iron clad man nodded, red faced from the outburst. He opened the gate immediately with his partner, who looked equally as shocked, but didn't mention it. The horses trotted through and Gabriel furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. The way that man had reacted...he'd expected surprise. But he'd mentioned the last name first, and referred to him as the archangel. Lord knows he wasn't the only one, and certainly the last time he'd been here he wasn't the most attributed...something was up.

Aiden stared ahead, like he was in a daze, on the brighter side he still had his natural face on. It was just simply easy to tell that he still wasn't 'within the land of the living'. Chéri was still trying to figure him out but had to focus back on the road when they started moving inside the city, the sudden jerk forward had caught Aiden off guard causing him to blink and he was suddenly brought back to reality. He squinted, as if he didn't know where he was, and he didn't, but he quickly shook it off. No that was...It didn't matter. He started examining the city and all it had to hold at the moment. Chéri was pleased to see him reacting as he should to his surroundings. That was better than dazing off. He glanced over at Gabriel, no, he was still there. That said he turned his attention back to the city, still looking around trying to absorb it all.

Inside the castle's gates, somehow, it was even busier. Servants and sires bustled around, most heading for horses to carry out their orders. Some tended to the gardens around the fortress, and others just sauntered along. Young nephilim laughed and played, while the older boys sparred in the courtyard, under the watch of a grizzly looking knight. Aiden stopped, and not ten seconds after stepping down from the horse there was one of the formerly mentioned servants, asking to take his horses to the stable. Gabriel nodded, grabbing his bag before walking around to Aiden's horse, motioning for the stable boy to wait. "Here," he offered, holding a hand out to the drowsy looking man.
