Fantasy The World of Od

Caym looked behind him to see the girl he had met still by the bar, he looked at Yopi and put him on the street, giving him a nod as if he knew what to do. He moved on to where the screeching was, finding it become more intense as he got closer. He saw someone there with a thin sword and raised his eyebrow holding up his swords ready to fight "one swipe at your weapon and they'll shatter it" he nodded. When Yopi was placed down he scurried back towards the bar and stood up at the girls feet sniffing the hair, his noes and whiskers wiggling

Aria relax sensing the strange girl wasn't armed "it's alright, there will be more. I'm sorry if I startled you" she turned her head towards the girl and confidently strode over to her, the echoes of the leaves bouncing off of roots or rocks. Hearing some wind off of leaves she immediatly drew her bow and shot towards the large object moving towards them, she knew they weren't exactly after her, more drawn by magic so it must be the other girl. "I don't think I hit it, do you have something to defend y ourself with?"

Furattā jumped again when she heard another screetch. What an ugly sound! She glanced at the other young lady and started hoping in place a little bit. Her feet were itching to start running. It didn't feel safe just standing there like that. She glanced around a bit frantically. When the woman spoke again, she turned back at her. "U-ummm...sort of...I have no weapons though" Furattā told her. All she could do really is use her ability and hope for the best. The girl continued to hop from foot to foot, ready to dart off any second.

"Well whatever you have use it. I can't aim when running" she grabbed the girls wrist sensing she wanted to run, considering how anxious her feet her. After the little tug she let go, "I know we are strangers to each other... But it's best not to be alone when a harpy is around. Especially if you have magic"

Harper saw the stranger motioning at his sword then back to his own, but he couldn't hear what he was saying due to the charm. He just looked down at his own sword then held up to about head height and shrugged, then turned to face the incoming harpies. He ran in among them, not concerned for his own safety in the least, just to protect the innocent civilians and children. Several harpies had turned on him, and he stabbed and slashed at them, not surprisingly to almost no effect. This would be so much simpler if I could just cast a few seals and spells right about now. He could try to mutter the words, but he did not dare to risk mispronouncing a crucial word and setting himself or another of his allies ablaze, or freezing their blood into crystal. So, death by the sword it was.

He charged a rather large harpy, stabbing at it wings, it's face, anything within reach. The harpy almost could have safely ignored him, as he did nothing but ruffle it's feathers or prod it's leathery hide several times. In response to his frenzy of tiny blows, the largest harpy of the flock gave him a clout to the head with it's stout wing. He staggered, dazed by the blow, as a flurry of feather, claws and screams he could not hear rushed at him, battering him about, his ears and nose bleeding, his glasses knocked away from his face, probably shattered. With a final Whoosh of it's wings, the large harpy knocked him over into the street. Harper bashed his head on the granite stones and he could feel his consciousness fading. At least, he thought, I was able to buy some time for them to escape. So, this is how I die then, is it? His last thought before slipping into a comatose dream was I hope I remembered to turn off the stove this morning.

Caym saw him fall and stepped in. He took great care in his swords, they could slice steel if he made them sharp enough. He lunged several attacks at the beasts his swords working in harmony, as one unit only making his attacks stronger. However it was pant enough to kill but he did greatly damage them, enough for them to want to retreat. When they were gone he out the swords in his sheaths and walked over to the man inspecting his vital signs. Considering he was still alive he picked him up and towed him over his shoulder carrying him back to the make shit camp he made in the ally, it was going to be there until he sold enough for the inn. He place the man down and started to heat up some tea he brought from home.

Furattā jerked her wrist away swiftly as soon as it was grabbed. She backed away from the lady and stared at her for a few moments. Then, her body and her bunny toy suddenly, almost literally, burst into butterflies. The combined sound of all their little wings flapping produced a rather loud sound, considering what they were. The faintly glowing insects fluttered off quickly in a sychronized group away from the area. Although, Furattā would no be able to stay like that forever, and would soon be forced back into her original form, leaving her defenseless.

Kiran noted the fight seemed over rather quickly, and she peered down the alley which she'd seen the man disappear down the alley with the other. The smell of blood was rather strong, and she recognized the sight of the scatter brained man that she'd met earlier. He seemed practically lifeless, and without really asking, she moved down the alley toward them, and sat beside the injured scatter brain. Her eyes took in the sight of the blood and injuries that were obvious without having to remove any article of clothing, and she leaned forward to check and ensure he was still breathing. Then her eyes landed on the man she was talking to earlier, and her gaze narrowed slightly. "Were you intending on letting him bleed out here in the alley? Because without tending to his wounds, that's certainly what will happen to him." While she had been wary of the man whom now was injured and unconscious before her, she wouldn't let such a thing keep her from helping if it were possible. But all she had on herself that could be useful were her ribbons...Anything medical was back at her makeshift camp, and she wasn't sure he'd survive if she even tried to drag him that far. A frown appeared on her lips, and then she took out her ribbons and used them as temporary and makeshift bandages, hoping they were enough to at least stop the bleeding and keep his injuries from getting infected.

~Monsters: Harpies~

The remaining harpy, whom was giving chase to the young woman in the woods, let out another screech and increased it's speed. It stumbled and nearly crashed into several trees and bushes. But it was relentless and continued it's pursuit, although this magic being had taken a very strange form. In the beast's mind, it simply assumed that this meant it possessed strong magic. It snapped and bit at the air, revealing razor sharp teeth. This harpy was determined to devour it's prey.

The butterflies made very awkward turns and occasional flips in an attempt to make the bird-woman confused, thus make her stop chasing them. Soon though, since Furattā had not eaten in a while and was sort of weak than that, the butterflies began to pulse, signifying that she was about to turn back normal. After another minute, a flash of pinkish light enveloped the butterflies. When the light faded, Furattā was there again im her normal form. Not good. She began running as fast as she could, which wasn't exactly very fast or anything.

Caym shook his head "he's not going to die, this man is a Mage" he showed her a few scrolls he found on his body. "When he wakes up he can just heal himself." He poured a few cups of the tea and handed one to kiran before taking the mans sword and walking over to his anvil. "I tried to tell him this wouldn't have done anything, it's too thin and looks like it hasn't been sharpened." He sat down and started to heat the bald with his hand, "and by the way your welcome, and I'm fine too thanks for asking"

Aria stopped feeling the footsteps switch to the sky, foolish girl. She started to run towards the sounds of the harpy and readied her bow. When she felt that she was close enough she aimed towards the screeching and shot, her arrow just missing a few trees but striking the beast in the wing. Once she shot she started to run once again towards the girl.

She frowned, a little annoyed but also feeling slightly bad for not asking after his health. But here he was, apparently going through the other man's things, and taking his sword without asking. That seemed a tad rude, and she reasoned with herself, he hadn't been her first concern because it was pretty clear at this point that he was uninjured. "Even if he's a mage, he bashed his head on the hard ground. I saw that much earlier, and I highly doubt even a mage can tend to his wouds while unconscious." Her mind wrapped around that idea, a mage...such people were nothing but magic in everything they did. In a way, mages could be dangerous as a result. Kiran's legs itched to move, to distance herself from Caym and the unconscious scatter brained mage. Yet she resisted the urge, stubbornly making herself stay. At the very least she'd make sure everything went alright here.
~Monsters: Harpy~

The creature let out a pained cry, and her flight became erratic. It hurt so much, and she wasn't sure it'd heal. But it soon became clear that flying after this strange creature wasn't the best option. Admittedly she was a bit clumsy on her legs, but it was a far better option then continuing on her wings. Coming to a sloppy landing, she looked about her. A blind human was giving chase and had been the reason for her injury, it glared at the human. But it could not get rid of that one, for it might result in her losing sight of her true prey. So it once more turned toward the butterfly girl and gave chase, snapping it's sharp teeth at her.

Furattā looked back as she heard the bird-lady let out a noise that sounded like it was in pain. She was surprised to see the blind lady. Furattā stopped for only a moment in curiosity, then began running again. This day just got worse and worse it seemed! The girl tried to use her ability again, but she couldn't. While she tried that, she began slowing down, running out of energy. Furattā stumbled and ended up tripping. She kept moving though, trying to crawl back to her feet and run off.

Caym looked at her, "trust me, he will be fine I've seen others survive worse" went he felt the metal of the blade was at the right temperature he grabbed one of his mallets, one with an animal skin as to not dent it. He started to hit out the kinks and bends to make it straight once again "you're a human aren't you? You react the way one might react to strange things such as us"

Aria started running once again right when the arrow was shot. After a few feet of following the sounds of the clumsy heavy feet of the harpy she stopped once more to draw her bow, aiming for the legs this time she let go letting the arrow fly.

The fluffy balls of cotton that danced around his head suddenly stopped, and began to waltz in front of his vision instead. Harper groggily came back to consciousness, not yet able to see or say anything, but at least his hearing had returned. Apparently, an Emergency Charm wore off if the bearer's mind shut down, A useful tidbit, I'll have to write that down in my notes on Charms. He heard the voices of a couple people, at least more than one, talking about him, of all things. It was rather garbled and strange-sounding, but he heard voices of concern and consolation. His hand crawled across the cobblestones slowly, trying to scrabble around for the sword he seemed to have dropped. His tongue slowly materialized in his mouth, and he found he could form slow words with it. "I..." he mumbled dazily, "I have to... stop the harpies..."

His vision began to clear, and he saw the dancer girl standing there with a pale man he did not know. He could not make out what they were doing yet, but he could see the man holding a red object in one hand and a long shiny object in the other. The red thing slowly took the shape of a lump of fire, What an odd way to hold it, without gloves, too. His other hand was holding a what turned out to be a sword. A certain sword. Harper's sword.

It took a moment to realize what was going on, but when the man pulled out a hammer and was about to set it to the metal, Harper's mind suddenly set off all the alarms. "My sword!!" he screamed as he shot off the ground like a firework, rushing the man that dared to mess with his beloved weapon. "Take your hands off of Angelique this instant!"

Cayman eyes got wide as the once sleeping man suddenly burst into life "hey! Calm down!" He handed him back his sword, "I was trying to fix it, polish it up a little, it certainly has seen a lot of days" he nodded and grabbed a rag wiping his hands "you're lucky it didn't shatter" he threw the rag over his shoulder and smiled a little to see Yopi returned sitting on his other shoulder. "And the harpies are gone"

Her own eyes widened as well upon seeing scatter brain suddenly come back to life without really any warning. She'd been about to retort in defense to what Caym had said. In her opinion, he put much too much faith in a man with magical abilities. Not only that but she didn't see anything wrong with being human. Nor the way she apparently reacted toward them, as he said. But instead, she stood up a bit as well, and grabbed scatter brain's arm. "Hey, relax. You hit your head pretty hard earlier, and I don't think you should be moving so quickly after waking up from that." For a moment she glanced at the sword that scatter brain had referred to as 'Angelique'. It was certainly a rather interesting name to give a weapon, in her opinion. A part of her wondered where it's name had come from, but knew it was no business of hers to ask such a thing. Though she'd had a feeling he wouldn't take too kindly to his sword being tampered with, especially when it was done without his permission. But he moved about much more animatedly then she'd expected an injured man, mage or no, to act.

Harper looked from the girl holding back on his right arm to the man holding out his sword to him on the left. He closed his eyes, inhaled a deep breath in. And then out. He reached his left hand for the sword, gently shaking his right free from the dancer's hands. "She's special to me, we've been through a lot together. And each of these scratches and dents is a story to us, I don't want to lose those. Angelique is enchanted against breaking, too, so she should be fine for many more years, just needs a little polish is all." He looked at the sword lovingly, rubbing his sleeve on the blade in a caring manner.

He stopped to sheath the blade at his hip, and took another deep breath before turning to the man, "Thanks for your help back there. But," he said with a smirk, then he seemed to take on a haughty air, "I think I could have taken them by myself. Harpies are child's play, how many do you think I took down with me? A dozen maybe, or..." Stopping halfway, his eyes suddenly went wide and he turned to the girl beside him, "You! You ditched me! What was that all about?! The least you could have done was read the tablecloth, right? I just needed some help looking for..." He stopped again and whirled towards the street out of the alleyway, "Where did she go? Did the harpies attack her? By the stars, she could have been killed! I have to..." His reason for halting this sentence was that he had fallen to his knees, his head in his hands, and moaned, "Oh, my head."

Furattā got back onto her feet and turned around to see the blind lady aiming at the harpy. She was panting heavily, already worn out. But, she began running again, knowing that she wasn't safe there. her pace had slowed down significantly thought and her breathing became more ragged. Furattā wasn't actually that athletic. After just a few minutes, she had to stop and lean against a tree. Furattā felt like like she would die of exhaustion and stress before that monster did. She looked back again, then started running once more.

Caym sighed and shook his head, finding it almost mentally exhausting trying to catch up with this man. He sat down again and took out one of his swords taking a rag and polishing it "there was a harpy that went into the forest, but whatever it was after is probably dead by now. Besides I don't think you should be going anywhere for a while" he nodded

His haughty attitude caught her by slight surprise, considering he'd acted kindly before. But she flinched a bit when he scolded her for abandoning him in the way that she did. Not that she could blame him, and she understood. Then her mouth turned into a bit of a frown. "The tablecloth? ...Why would I...?" She must have been out of it to not have noticed something about that tablecloth. An image of the young woman that he'd been chasing after flashed through her memory, and she gazed at him for a moment. Well, she figured there was really only one way to make up for her folly. "Look, I'm sorry alright? I normally avoid anyone magical in any sense. But it seems that's become impossible for me as of late. Look, I'll get her, alright? I think I've seen her in the forest before." When she'd stopped by the forest when she'd arrived, she'd thought she'd seen the young woman a few times before. But she'd never thought much of it. "Just rest and use your magic to get better." Kiran straightened up, and then looked to Caym. "I'm sorry for being rude earlier. But could you make sure this guy doesn't try doing anything reckless? He seems the type to do just that." But she didn't wait for an answer or confirmation, especially after hearing a harpy took off into the same forest. With that, she hurried off and made her way straight into the forest.

Caym gave her a nod and once she was out of sight he looked at Yopi "follow her" he watched as he scampered off towards the Forrest following the smell of gold he used to find her before. Caym looked at Harper "you certainly have a lot on your mind don't you?" He continued to polish off his swords getting rid of the harpy blood that resided on it.

~Monster: Harpy~

It continued chasing after the girl, annoyed with how much energy she seemed to possess. But unfortunately, it could not keep up this chase forever either. It's wings had already begun to lose their strength earlier from keeping it uplifted until just a minute ago. While it's legs felt as if they were burning a bit. Of course, this was no doubt just a result from the energy it was using up to keep in hot pursuit of the girl. The she-creature raised one of it's legs and attempted to slash at her with it's talons.

Aria closed her eyes, she didn't know why, it didn't do anything, maybe it was just nerves. She reached back onto the container which held her arrows and felt for one, the last one. She bit her lip and pressed forward following the screeching as best she could, she would try to get it in the back this time to imobolize it. She stopped and pulled back her string her arm following the screeching until she knew she had a clear shot, so she let go. The arrow whizzed through the air lodging itself between the shoulder blades of the monster.

Harper just watched the dancer ditch him again, at least that's what it felt like, after what seemed like a rushed apology about leaving him before in the first place. It happened so fast that Harper only had time to open his mouth in protestation, then close it again in consternation as she left.

He had a few seconds to try to collect his thoughts before the strange man spoke. To be honest, Harper had only noticed him for a moment, but his mind always seemed to be missing in action when he needed it most. Then the man started talking to him, asking about his state of mind. "Well," Harper replied, "I have always been a quick thinker, but sometimes my thoughts go faster than my head can keep up with, so I jump from one to the next."

He rubbed his temples with his forefingers, trying to massage his headache to death, it seemed. "So, what happened while I was out? How many harpies did we manage to fry?" He turned to look at the man sitting there in the alley with him, polishing swords, his own this time.

The creature's talons managed to slash through Furattā's clothes and create cuts om her bavk. They weren't super deep wounds, but they weren't exactly superficial either. The girl cried out in both surprise and pain and tried to quicken her pace, but found herself just slowing down. She soon came to a complete stop and went to her knees. Her lungs were burning from pantings and her legs felt like that were throbbing. She hugged her bunny toy and whimpered softly, convinced that she was going to die, and trying to just accept it. Her life wasn't going anywhere anyways. She didn't notice Aria shoot at the creature.

~Monster: Harpy~

It felt triumphant for only a moment, before it felt pain shoot through it's whole being. The creature felt as it'd just been cut down, or lost a limb. She let out a loud, pained screech, and stumbled. Finally, the monster came to the conclusion that if it continued pursuing this creature, which was so close to being finished off, it would result in it's death. Letting out another screech, this one more of frustration, it turned from the girl, and stumbled as it attempted to escape. Crashing through the branches and fluttering it's wings meekly. Now it's only thought was that of escape.
