Fantasy The World of Od

Furattā started taking deep breaths again and sat down on the ground. She curled up there and buried her face into her knees. This was a bad idea. "Yes, yes it was," the voice returned, this time a bit gentler, but still in a matter-of-fact fashion. The girl only whimpered in response. Her body hurt from throwing the bunny on the ground. That hadn't been a good idea either. Also, yelling at that one guy had been rude. Wow...she was just full of bad ideas that day. Furattā began taking deep breaths calm herself. The people around her soon left her alone, writing her off as just some crazy girl that had snapped in the middle of the street. The girl kept her face buried and her eye closed. Now what? She guessed she shiuld just go back into the forest, where she actually belonged.

Her eyes widened and her cheeks momentarily turned a light shade of pink in surprise, an alarmed "Oh!" Escaped as she watched the ferret escape with one of her coins. She wasn't used to being taken off guard like that, and have an animal, of all things, and it sparked irritation in her. This was what she got for not thinking much of that ferret, that much was clear. Animal or no, she would not let it get away with stealing her hard earned money from her. Luckily speed and agility were more her thing, rather then strength. Without a second thought, she turned on her heel and raced after the little thief. Dodging and narrowly avoiding the villagers, some of them giving her a dirty look for rushing by them. But she paid them no mind, at least for the moment.

Yopi sniffed at the ground the best he good ignoring the smell of the coin. He searched for the homey smell of soot which always meant Caym. Several women screamed, claiming a rat had tried to attack them. A rat? Yopi was no rat. How dare they. He turned suddenly to the left squeezing himself under the door of the bar, he found Caym and climbed up his pant leg to his arm dropping the coin in his hand. Caym looked down and played around with the coin "hm? Yopi where did you get this? I haven't sold anything". He held it up to look at it closer.

Edit to go with the bartender: Caym shrugged and stuck the coin in his pocket. He raised his glass as a thank you and took a big swig coughing a bit but managing to swallow it down.

Inside The Chimaera

The bartender comes back to Caym with a large glass mug, frosty on the outside, frothy on the in. "Here ya'are, stranger, that's our House Brew. Not a finer malt east o' the Pall River, and no mistake. Take your time, it's a bit strong for the first time, and it takes two of them before it tastes best." The bartender chuckled a hearty laugh, slapped his generous stomach and lumbered off behind the bar to help the drunken sot on the end to another Corkbottle Twister on the Rocks. The atmosphere of the bar, named The Chimaera, was the comfortable kind of stuffy, with warm drinks in hand warm laughs on the lips of all, and a warm fire crackling on the hearth at the back wall.

Furattā slowly picked up the bunny toy. She had to. Leaving it was fatal. She slowly got up and headed back into the trees. That's where she belonged. Furattā didn't belong with other people. She couldn't be social even if she tried. And they would never actually understand. So, it was best for her to just leave them to their own lives. The girl practically disaopeared into the trees, holding her bunny toy at her side. She hated it. She blamed it for how she had turned out to be.

Her eyes were almost entirely so focused on the ferret, that she narrowly avoided running into a villager here and there. Some got mad at her enough to yell things like "Filthy gyp, watch where yer goin'!!" or "Clumsy, blind wench!" and other things of that variety. But she turned a deaf ear to the insults, as such words could not truly harm her unless she let them. At least, that's how she always thought of it. After a while, she came upon a place that proclaimed itself as 'The Chimaera', and she was fairly certain that this is where the little thief snuck off into. Regaining her composure and standing more upright, she placed her hand on the door and let herself in. For now she remained silently, surveying the area until she spotted the ferret, whom now was with a soot covered, yet oddly pale man. Her heart sank momentarily, she might not get her coin back if another person had it. Yet she had to try, so with that in mind, she made her way over to him and tried to speak as politely as she could. "I'm sorry, but, I believe that coin belongs to me. Your little friend there took it from me."

Caym turned his head to see a girl, hearing what she said she said and took the coin out of his pocket. He looked at Yopi and glared slightly before turning back to the girl "I'm very sorry, stealing Is new for him." He gave it back to her and grabbed the ferret before it tried to scurry away knowing what his punishment would be. Caym lit his hand on fire burning the ferret to ash and pouring it on the table. " again I'm sorry, I'm Caym" he rubbed the back of his neck "it's probably partially my fault, I trained him to find the scent of metals"

Furattā headed back to where she mainly stayed in the forest, in the middle of it. It didn't take too long to get there. As the humans needed more shelters as their population grew, they cut down more trees, making her forest smaller. That was one of the reasons why she had been trying to explore the town. Maybe ome day she would have to move into the town if her area of the forest got cut down. She would have nowhere to go unless she decided to move into a whole different forest. Hopefully it wouldn't come to that, because obviously she couldn't handle civilization, and hopefully, if the forest ever did disappear one day, she would be dead by then. Yeah. Furattā sat down under a large tree after a while and threw her bunny a few feet away from her. Again, she winced. She would have bruises the next day from throwing the toy around. Just great. The toy stayed silent, deciding to leave the girl alone.

Her eyes widened slightly as she watched flames somehow come to life and burn the ferret. That was magic that she had just witnessed, wasn't it? She became wary of him, though she didn't necessarily show it. It seemed everywhere she went, there were people possessing or having some sort of magic. At this rate, she may have to learn to just accept it. Or at least make some sort of compromise with herself. While a part of her wanted to leave again, she made herself stay and offered him a smile. "Oh, that's alright. Thank you for returning it. My name is Kiran, it's nice to meet you." With only a slight moment of hesitation, she took the gold coin and pocketed it back into her skirt.

He noticed her expression and laughed a little "don't worry i don't use it to attack anything, just when Yopi done something bad, or in my trade. Give him a few seconds he'll be back" he took another sip of the drink and surly Yopi came back, as lively and energenic as before. "Now apologize" he gave the ferret a stern look and watched as Yopi carefully climbed up the thin arm of the girl to her face nuzzling her cheek in apology. "There we go, it's nice to meet you too, do you live around here?"

Edit: going to dinner I will be back

Some birds came up to Furattā seemingly happy to see her. She shooed them away though, not in the mood to listen to a series of tweets and chirps that she couldn't understand. The birds didn't understand though, and hopped to Furattā's side. They began chirping to her, and waited for her to whistle back. When she didn't they, just chirped louder. Furattā sighed and laid down on her stomach and closed her eye. She covered her ears with her hands as the birds tweeted, wanting her attention. Eventually, when Furattā continued to refuse to respond to them, they went silent and just peacefully sat there with her. That was better. Furattā opened her eye and looked at the little birds. She watched them in silence.

The ferret, although clearly friendly when not stealing, scared her a bit. Mainly because it somehow came back to life looking as if nothing had happened to it in the first place. This guy was strange as well, like the other man she'd met earlier. Although this one seemed to have his thoughts more together, at least. For a moment, she contemplated what she should tell him. While he didn't exactly seem dangerous, she knew she ought to always be wary of people. You never really knew if a person was trustworthy until you got to know them a bit longer. Then she shook her head. "I don't live around here. I travel from place to place, so I have no permanent home that I could refer to or tell you about." Kiran informed him, as she figured it did her no harm to be honest about that.

As Harper finished his tea, he began to plan out his next destination on his trip. He had grown a little weary of this town, he had absorbed as much knowledge as he could, but many of the people were close-lipped, and not many secrets were given or even hinted at. Time to move on, I think, but first, I want to take another trip out to the forest to get a look at those mushrooms. The other night was a crescent moon, so they should have sprouted up in groves by now. He stood from his table after clinking a few bronze coins into his cup, slung his satchel over his shoulder and his small, thin sword at his back, and then set off for the east gates of the town. "I'll return by evenfall, I hope, to spend one last night here at the inn, but I'll set out in the morning for Brookhaven and be there in time for supper", he said to himself as he strolled his way down the streets. He saw a baker selling his wares on the way out, so he grabbed a roll filled with sticky marmalade for the walk ahead. Out of habit, he reaches into his jacket for his handkerchief and Oh, confound it all, she still has it, doesn't she? What a pity, it was my last one. So he placed it under his hat instead.

"I travel too sometimes, though i do have a home to go back to, more like a home base I guess." Caym shrugged struggling to find the correct word for it, he lived there yes but he was barely there seeing how long these trips take. "I'm a blacksmith so going to different towns helps with business." He looked at her "have you noticed that the trails change? Or am I just crazy"

Furattā rolled onto her back and looked up at the sky. She sighed lightly and sat up. She looked over at the bunny toy. It was frowning a bit sadly then. That made her feel a bit guilty, but not enough to make her apologize. It brought that onto itself, and was going to have to deal with it for a while. Furattā looked back at the sky and began picking out shapes in the clouds, not having anything better to do. Just then, her stomach growled. Finding food it was then. Furattā got up, grabbed the toy, then began searching for something to eat.

She nodded lightly as he spoke, listening intently. "I see. A blacksmith? That's a good, solid trade to know. Everyone's always in need of a blacksmith for one reason or another." Though with her lifestyle, she herself never had much need of a blacksmith very often. Only to help with sharpening her dual daggers when they dulled. Which didn't happen too much either, but she did admire those who knew the trade. Mainly because she knew it required quite a bit of strength and unique knowledge of metals and how to mold them. Kiran considered his question, which she found a bit odd. Even if the trails did change, she most likely didn't notice, herself. Considering she tried not to travel the same road twice, if she could help it. "No, I can't say I've noticed such a thing. But I suppose it is possible."

"Thank you, I've been doing it for hundreds of years and it never gets boring" he nodded and sipped again at his drink noticing Yopi lapping his tongue on the froth. Thoughts of surprise went through his head, how could she not realize yet he was a demon. It was practically in his eyes. But in other ways he was relieved, finally one town where people aren't keeping their distance. "What do you like to do?"

~Monster Time~

Their heads raised in unison, sniffing the air, and they rose higher into the sky. Harpy women gave an ear piercing, shrill screech as they set their sights on the city before them. Their bodies and heads had a human, female shape to them, but were covered in feathers ranging from ruddy red, dark browns, light greys and nearly golden white feathers. Where normal arms would be, though, were instead large, thick wings that kept them aloft in the sky above. The feet and legs were also more similar in appearance to that of a bird's, with dangerously sharp, black talons that looked as if they could easily tear into their victims. They had been attracted by the scent of magic, and it seemed to them that there was strong magic here. The leader of them, a rather large female with ruddy red and grey feathers, eyed the town with deadly malice. With another screech, similar to a battle cry, she led the harpies into the town, towards their target. Around them, the villagers screeched in terror, and immediately scrambled out of the way. Mass confusion began to take over the town as everyone tried to reach safety and avoid the sudden attack from these harpies.

Aria Kelli, an archer whom camps in the woods or in caves, she loves the adventure of new places new smells, except no sights. Shes blind but has tuned her senses so precisely over the ages you could say she sees perfectly. She is very affectionate towards women and is very Tom boyish. She is tall for a girl and has straight jet black hairs and pale emerald eyes. She never wears shoes, the vibrations she feels in the earth help her to see along with sounds. Aria stood at the top of a hill in a local Forrest. Her bow pointed at a deer, her ear jerked slightly when she heard something rustle, not animal, maybe human? What ever it was scared the deer away so instead she shot the arrow to the tree beside the stranger.

((This is for furatta))
Cayms head jerked to the door, his face becoming very serious "something's happening". He grabbed Yopi and put him on his shoulder running out towards the ally where his weapons were. He took his protection char sticking it in his pocket to protect him. He saw the harpies and and traced their target point to the town inn. He glared and took his swords in both hands sprinting towards the inn, smiling a little but on the inside excited for a fight.

Furattā gasped as she heard screetching. She looked up quickly. What were those? They looked like bird women. Scary bird women. She watched them fly, then something elss caught her attention. An arrow wizzing past her and hitting a tree. The small girl yelped a little and jumped back. She looked towards where the arrow had come from, her eye wide.

Hundreds of years...? She knew he looked a bit strange, but she would have never guessed he was that old. Her head snapped towards the sound of screeching as well and winced a bit. There were harpies out there, she recognized the screeching and had witnessed them when she'd been traveling a few years back. Normally they stayed within desert type areas with high plateaus and deep canyons, last she'd known. So it was extremely strange for these creatures to even be here, and she had no idea why they'd come so far from their regular homes. Kiran stepped out, but stayed close to the tavern. Unfortunately she'd left her dual daggers back among her other things in the forest, where she'd set up a sort of temporary camp containing her things.

Aria wasn't looking directly at the girl, but her head was turned so that her ear was perpendicular. Off in the distance she heard harpies but pushed them from her mind, they weren't her problem, besides she wouldn't be able to "see" with all the commotion. "You scared my dinner" she said simply slowly lowering her arm.

The harpies' cries split the air. Harper stops in his tracks in the middle of the street, crouching down with his hands over his ears, and quickly mutters a counter-charm on himself. The cries suddenly cut off, and Harper realizes that now, all other sound has also cut off. It chose a deafness spell?, he grumbled to himself, How useless is that. I guess I can manage until it wears off, but now I don't know how I'm going to find the harpies very well. He turned back towards the town, knowing he couldn't just leave without helping to drive off the winged menaces. He drew his sword and spoke one of his favorite war spells over it. The sword sprung to life, blazing fire flickering over its blade. But as he watched, the flames began to congeal and clump together, falling off and hitting the cobblestones with an (un)audible splat. Harper just stared at his sword dumbfoundedly, I can't even say my own spells correctly because I can't HEAR them! Very well, a fight to the death the old-fashioned way. He readied his sword in front of him and charged into the town square to take on the harpies with only his blade and bare hands, with no hearing to find them by. Which was a very, very, very stupid idea.

Furattā glanced back at where the harpies flew off to. She was tempted to follow them, but didn't want to just leave the other person who had shot the arrow without responding. She looked back at the girl. "I'm sorry..." Furattā apologized softly. "I didn't to..." she continued and looked down at her feet. Again, she glanced at the direction the bird-women had flown to.

Monsters: Harpies

~

One of the smaller harpies sniffed the air, it smelled a sort of magic, but it wasn't from within the town. Rather, it seemed to be coming from the forest itself. It didn't get as much sustenance as the others due to it's small size when they fought together in groups, and the others seemed rather preoccupied with the magic in this town. But this young harpy didn't need much magic to sustain her, as the others did. So it took off and dove into the forest, seeking out it's prey and letting out another screech of it's own. A warning, threat almost, that it was coming.

The other harpies took no notice of their sister harpy leaving in search of it's own prey. They had bigger bounty in this village full of screaming humans. After they had a good idea of the place, they noted one of them had decided to face them, which was foolhardy. Yet there was something not human at all about this one, yet they sensed his 'magic' all the same. Three of them dove at him, bearing their talons and folding their wings at their sides as they aimed straight at him. While their leader and two of the other harpies took off in search of the other containing magic as well, searching through the city.
