Fantasy The World of Od

Ali trusted Rectra'an. Because of this she had no problem letting him into her mind. She found herself understanding, knowing more. Her eyes lit up with happiness and she smiled. She knew that the thing with the words on it was a sign, the dirt they were following was a path, and many things she did not know before. She knew words, words she could put together to make sentences. She would be able to communicate. Ali couldn't possibly wait to tell him how wonderful it was to know, to have understanding of things around her, of language. "Thank you, thank you so much", she had hated not being able to talk to her new friend and now she intended to do so. She leaned against the wood as if to give a hug, trying to show her appreciation "It means so much to be able to speak, and understand. It was difficult trying to communicate without the words to do so." It is quite lonely to have people not understand you and to not understand them either.

~~~~~Saruka, The Gold Bar, Broan~~~~~
She entered The Gold Bar, but saw not a single person around at the moment. "Of all my luck, the one bar I pick is like a ghost town." She walked up to the counter, saw a bottle of Elvish Spirits Beer, "better than nothing," she muttered, and pulled out the cork with her teeth and began to chug it. She'd pay for it later, of course, as soon as she got some service around here. She went to write a note explaining that she owed the bar for the beer, then realized she had nothing to write with, or on. Then she noticed a large book behind the counter, and went up to it to investigate. The only item on the first page, or any page for that matter, was simply "lighting." 'Must be the account ledger," She wondered how much they had paid for simple lighting, as the place didn't seem dark, it wasn't exactly blindingly well-lit either. "It wouldn't hurt them to stock some better quality liquor," she said, {( <.<) ( >.>) ( <.<) (=゚ω゚)} and wrote on the next line of the page, 'One shipment Dwarf Mines Grog. One shipment Agulpa Valley Ape Ale.' "There, that should help them out a bit, they'll have people flocking all over for some Dwarvish and Simean drink!" She closed the ledger, sat down at one of the tables, and began to finish off her beer.
~~~~~Rectra'an, Road to Broan~~~~~

Rectra'an would have smiled at this, if trees could smile. He had been able to fill her mind with some of his thoughts, not knowing the difference between a tree's thoughts and a man's. She would be the first barkless with the mind of a tree, but 'perhaps this was not a bad thing.' he thought. 'If more of the men thought like trees, they would take more pleasure in the things of nature. Man does not fully understand the wonder of standing in sunlight, or feeling the waters of the earth run past your roots.' Despite his misgivings about men-kind, he enjoyed being with one of their saplings, as they had no hatred or destruction of nature in them. "Little Ali-sprout, now that you have some knowledge, what will you do? Shall you go to the man-forest of Broan with me, or will you like to depart from me here, to go your own way? There is an air of war stirring, I feel. Where I go, there may be dangers and foul beasts and fouler men-kind." Though he did not understand his own feelings, for he had never thought this way about any man, sprout or not. It was the same feeling he felt of his forest, the tiny buds blooming, the infant trees sprouting. He wanted to protect them, and now this Ali, to shelter them from the storms, to see them grow into tall and mighty oaks and birches. "I leave the choice to you, where shall you go?"

On the way to coliseum ~Broan~

Richter nodded "sounds like a plan" he started walking away from the inn deeper into the city, the crowds almost becoming more packed and noisy. He looked up to see if Jeni was still sleeping which surprisingly she was, a little stir her and there but she was intent on keeping her eyes closed. As he walked away from the center he found a residential district that was what seemed to be the quietest part of town. He found an inn called the juniper inn and requested a room. He also requested, and would pay a little more, if the hostess wouldn't mind watching Jeni while he was at the colosseum. She complied and led the two to their room, it wasn't much, there was one large bed which they would have to share, there was a public restroom which he didn't mind. After getting Jeni settled and the bags put away, he grabbed his tool bag and headed back out to meet his monkey friend at the coliseum. The center of the city seeming more crowded than before.

Ali thought about Rectra'an's words. He was the only person that she knew and she really enjoyed his company. Yet, he spoke of danger, and that was something she hadn't thought about. It couldn't be that bad could it? Of course she wouldn't know until she found out for herself. Anyways, should a problem arise while they are there, she felt sure they could figure it out. Ali felt safe around Rectra'an and she wanted to stay near her friend as long as she could. She had decided, she would go with him to Broan. "I wish to go with you", she verbalizes her decison and feels grateful for being able to do so. She smiles, sure that she had made the right choice.

~Road to Broan~

Kit hummed softly as she skipped her marry way down the path. She had to admit it was nice to have company while traveling for once even if it meant stopping more since Kiki was still getting used to her legs. Kit scampered her way up a tall tree to look down the path spotting buildings not too far off. "Ah we're almost to the city!" Che called down to her merfriend before climbing back down. "Shouldn't take more then a half hour to get to it." She grinned slipping her back pack back on. "Hopefully Saruka is still there and hasn't gone off adventuring some more.

Akieta clapped her hands in excited meant "good, I thought I'd never say this but my legs are hurting from all this walking" she laughed a bit before stopping, "actually do you know if there is a lake or something around here?" She played with her hands and looked down at her feet "I dont think I've ever gone this long with legs and I just wanna take a quick swim, just to be safe"

Kit nodded "saw one this way." she said before leading the way off the path through the thick woods to a near by pond.

She smiled and took the scarf off laying it on a rock. She took her bag off as well and dove into the water, she surfaced her tail and scales showing again "sorry, I know were close, my legs just didn't feel right. I promise no more stopping from here to Broan"

Kit shrugged as she started looking around the pond for any herbs she could collect. she hadn't been to this part of Od very often and they had such lovely flowers. "Don't worry about it, my friend. The sun will not set any time soon and chances are we wont find Saruka any time soon even if we did get to the city, it is a fairly large place." She pulled up some violets putting them into one of the pockets.

Kiki nodded and swam around for a little while before coming out and reaching for the scarf. She gently wrapped it around her neck and stood up now with legs. Dusting off her dress she grabbed her bag "well then I guess we should get started. Shouldn't we?" She smiled feeling refreshed.

Kit grabbed the last of the plants she needed before nodding "Yes!" She grinned "To Broan!" She cheered scampering back to the path.

~Saruka, Broan~

She had just chugged back the last drop of her beer, and stood to leave, staggering. "WhOOooa, that wassss pretty... strong shtuff.." She read the label again, as well as she could when it felt like her head was spinning. "Enchanted Vintage, year 1002." That explained it, it was an ensorcelled beer, meant to be less heady than a normal brew, but enchanted to have twice the effect. "Well, I better pay up..." She set the empty bottle behind the counter next to the ledger, and carefully counted out her gold coins, one by one, dropping them in a little pile as she closely peered at each one. "I shhhure hope the owner doesn't get..'hic'... upset at me.." She started to totter out the door, but stopped to lean against the doorframe, "I'll just take a little break firshht."

~Rectra'an, Outside of Broan~

The old tree practically sang. A deep thrumming came from his entire body as he walked along the road, Broan now in sight on the horizon. Ali had chosen to stay with him, and he felt inexorable joyful at this news. No barkless had ever wanted to be around him for too long, even the elves grew wary of him after several hundred years. He had always had the trees and the forest animals, but somehow, this was completely new to him. He felt as if Ali and he belonged together, that they were somehow the same, but two different kinds of the same.

"Ali-sprout, I shall watch over you," he murmured through his branches, "No harm will come to you while you are with me, I promise. The hour is late, the sun shall soon sleep, I shall carry us through the night. Sleep now, and we shall be in Broan before the sun has risen again." He extended a small wave of leaves and soft tree needles, to cover herself with for a comfortable sleep, if she wished. He felt a caring attachment towards her, as if she was his very own sapling.

~Ali, Outside of Broan~

Ali was glad that she didn't seem to be a burden. The last thing she wanted was to be a bother to Rectra'an. She found happiness in knowing that her new friend enjoyed her company as much as she enjoyed his. She heard him promise protection to her. This was something she had no doubt of for she trusted Rectra'an to keep her safe. 'Such kindness' Ali thought. She agreed that it would be best if she got some sleep. "okay", she managed to say through a yawn. Wow, had she actually been that tired? Ali sighed as she made herself comfortable. "Thank you", she said softly as she laid there and waited for sleep to take her, Possibly to a land of dreams. She smiled at the thought of what might happen when she wakes.

~Broan~

Caym registered for the smiths guild and was told to go to the coliseum to show off skills. Smiths who did well received fine work tents to have ease with their craft, so that they can be amazing. He put Yopi on the ground to go wander and explore for himself. Now Caym had to find a room, he knew he saw an inn when he came in, he was having trouble remembering what it was called. He shrugged and went to go exploring himself, maybe they sold metals in the market district.

~road to Broan~

"I think if your friend is looking for adventure I'm sure what ever is happening to the south is adventure enough" akieta nodded her hands in the strap of her sachel "the messenger did make it seem very enticing,"

Kitrau nodded slightly "I wonder how many people are actually volunteering to go. I'm not much of a fighter in all honesty. I can defend my self well enough but I'm more of a healer and tracker..."

"So am I, my scales contain healing properties so instead of making them medicine, I harness their magic" akieta looked at her hands, sadly she could only do it in her mermaid form "maybe we could be nurses, I'm sure they'll need those"

Kit nodded "If things are as serious as it's rumored to be" she stretched her arms over her head. "I've heard of unrest in the past small time mages thinking their all powerful but nothing ever this serious... not enough for a volunteer army to be started." She thought aloud.

BROAN OUTSKIRTS, ANDREA GENIS

It had taken her quite the large amount of stumbling and tripping and getting lost in the woods outside Broan before she decided that it might just be time to turn around and wait for him in civilization.

That was before she saw a faint blue glow in the forest.

Her curious nature had not allowed her to return until she finds out the source of the glow. Perhaps it is a magic pond with the faint shimmering she saw. Maybe the waters would strengthen her tenfold. A lot of possibilities existed but this one came as a surprise.

She found Mr.Validifer, he was either deep in thought or meditating but that didnt change the fact that she kept him waiting. But amazed her that he was the source of the glow.

"Teacher I apologize for my lateness." It was punctuated by a low bow.

Chickadee heard the announcement about everything and blinked a little bit. Coloseum? She looked at the packages she had. Maybe she could just pop in to see what was going on. Yeah! Chickadee smiled and headed to where the gathering was taking place. When she got there she found a place to sit and sat there with her package bag on her lap.

~Xerno, Forest Outside Broan~

Xerno smiled as she bowed. "That is quite alright." He gestured for her to stop bowing. "Come, we must begin." Tiny glowing blue orbs appeared from the ground and trees. They started to surround them. They started to get a little fuzzy feeling "This will be your first lesson, channeling magic." He motioned to the orbs. "These will show you if you're channeling magic, they come to you as you draw in magic, it get's easier after the first channel." Some of the orbs drew to him and was absorbed by him. "First, you must calm yourself, take a deep breath and focus on drawing in on the fuzziness you feel."

Fenri - Broan

Fenri arrived in the loud city still in wolf form. It was huge - much bigger than Kingston or any other place that he had been to. It did make sense though, the capital should be the biggest city. He sighed and looked around for any clue to the whereabouts of his sister. Some people were staring at him, but he paid them no mind as he padded towards the Grand Arena. No doubt that is where she would be. He sighed again. What he was going to do when he found her, he had no idea.

Laika - Broan (opposite side of the city)

Laika had shifted from wolf to elf, not wanting to draw any attention to herself as she looked for her brother. There was a sign in front of her with a piece of paper attached to it. She read it. On it was a proclamation to register and meet at the Grand Arena. She presumed that would be in the centre. Fenri would have already signed up to try and search for her, if he was here already. She would do the same. Guilt plagued her steps. If either of them signed up there couldn't be any going back, and they could easily get killed. This was all her fault. She headed towards the nearest tavern to sign up, and then carried on towards the centre of the city, where the Grand Arena, and hopefully her brother, was located.

~~~~~Environ~~~~~
The Grandia Aerenus, as the colosseum was formally known, also the largest arena in all of Westershire. Not only did it hold jousts and mock battles, but also races and other sporting events in the Annual Festival, celebrating the founding of Westershire as a nation. Today, however, it had been a bustle of activity, soldiers arranged in formations, smiths crafted their weapons, warriors, mages and huntsmen alike all gathered to recruit their services.
The main groups appear to be forming up, separating into like professions and skills. In one corner of the arena, Front-linesmen, fighters and soldiers meant to hold the line of battle, all trained and sparred, waiting to be set into groups. Another corner was grouped with Magicians, practitioners of all forms of arcane arts, from healing and fireballs to scrying and protective barriers, all techniques being evaluated for the field. Situated near the center of the field, craftsman, smiths, mechanics of all sorts, smelting and constructing all sorts of weapons and siege engines. Still more there were; Rogues and scouts, practicing agility in obstacle courses, waiting to carry messages or spy out the lands ahead; Archers and other rangers, shooting at straw targets, competing for the best shot at the best group. Finally, on an entire half of the field, were rows of actual Royal Soldiers, spears and shield gleaming, swords tucked in their sheaths, armour and helmets glistening in the sun, watching over the proceedings and waiting for orders.
(Alright, guys, here's how I'm thinking it's gonna work. If you signed up to be a volunteer, assume that you were told which group to join by an officer, or just make your way there yourself (within the next "three days", you don't have to go immediately) Once everyone is pretty well assituated, I'll come up with groups to assign people to (randomly, of course, though I'll try to make sure that you don't get two of your own characters together, unless you want them to be.)
Chickadee watched everybody with wide eyes. She set her bag of mail down, practicially forgetting it, and went down to where everybody else was. Little did the person who had ordered the packages know, he would never actually get those packages. At least not from her of course. Chickadee continued watching the people once she felt that she was close enough and tilted her head to one side curiously.
~road to Broan~
"Well don't they believe this threat might spread to all of od? I might not go out much but from the stories I've heard. There is a lot of pride in odians hearts" akieta nodded, and walked up to the entrance, the border of Broan, seeing all the people and creatures there she raised her eyebrow "do you think we'll find saruka in that sea of people?"
~smiths guild of the arena~
Caym had a bag full of metals, as well as a bag of his hammers and rags, with Yopi once again on his shoulder.
The men in the smiths guild were noticeably bigger than him, taller and a larger build. Brute strength isn't all that's important to a smith, so he wasn't worried. He found an empty station with an anvil, water troph, and fire heart all ready to go. Dropping his things by the bottom of the anvil he got to work.
Kits ears perked up as she saw the mob of people. "Hmmmm Shes bout to be here some where..." she muttered as they walked through the crowded streets. "we should probably check taverns first. knowing her she probably got a drink first."
