Kiara Blake - Slytherin - 6th Year
Interacting With: Saber Sanctuaryforall1
The train to Hogwarts often smelled of pumpkin pastries and worn leather trunks, a smell Kiara had become quite fond of over the years. Her fingers danced along the soft white fur of her kitten, Lumos, who purred up at her, blinking his green eyes lazily from her lap. She hadn’t the slightest idea where Sebastian had wandered off to, but in truth, she was glad to have some alone time with her little sister. This was Adeline’s first year at Hogwarts, and Kiara knew that the youngest Blake child was particularly nervous about the sorting ceremony. Most of the Blake family had been sorted into the Slytherin house, Kiara and Sebastian were no exception. While Adeline wanted to be in Slytherin with the rest of her family,Kiara had a sneaking suspicion that her little sister did not possess the cunning nature and ambition of a Slytherin. “What if they put me in Hufflepuff?” Adeline’s wide eyes looked up at her, the younger girl trying (but failing) to hide the nervous shake in her voice.
“Then Hufflepuff will be the team to beat in quidditch this year.” Kiara smirked softly, tapping Adeline’s nose playfully. Sebastian had been teaching Adeline how to fly her broom all summer on the sprawling grounds of the Blake estate. From what Kiara could tell, Adeline was getting quite good at flying. “You will do great in whatever house you end up in, Addy. And even if you’re not in Slytherin, Bash and I won’t ever be far.” She reassured her. The screeching sound of the brakes on the train tracks alerted the pair that they were approaching Hogsmeade Station, and Kiara looked wistfully out the window as the roaming hills gave way to a quaint town with small houses littering the countryside. Lumos nearly rolled off of her lap from the sudden shift in momentum, and Kiara quickly scooped him up in her arms as Adeline began to open the door to their booth, standing on her tiptoes to reach her suitcase.
Kiara swiftly stood, tucking Lumos into his carrier and reaching up to grab Adeline’s trunk from the top shelf. She had charmed her own trunk to follow her as she walked, so it rolled steadily behind the pair as they began to meander off the train. “Where’s Dorian?” Adeline shouted over her shoulder, rushing forward as if the faster she could get to Hogwarts the faster she would see all of her friends. Kiara quickly grabbed Adeline’s wrist before she could wander too far ahead, “He’s probably helping all the new students get settled, He is headboy you know, he has a lot of responsibilities.” Kiara weaved through the crowd of robed students with Adeline at her side. The older girl had not yet dawned her Hogwarts robes, instead she wore a short, plaid green skirt with a black sweater on top. Her black boots thudded softly against the cobbled road as they headed towards the castle, her brown hair falling in gentle waves past her shoulders.
When they finally reached the great hall where a majority of the students were gathered, Kiara searched the crowd for a familiar head of red hair, finding it, unsurprisingly, near the Ravenclaw table. She turned to instruct Adeline to go sit with the other first years, but the younger Blake had already run off with her friends. Deciding that Addy was in good hands, Kiara sauntered forward with an excited grin - only to falter in her step a moment later when she realized Saber, her boyfriend, was currently sitting with a group of girls she didn’t recognize. She swallowed, gathering her wits before she continued on her path towards him, lacing her arms around his shoulders when she finally reached him. “Entertaining your adoring fans as always I see…” she kissed his cheek softly, turning her attention to the other girls.
Lydia Montgomery - RavenClaw - 6th Year
Interacting With: Skyri and Saber Sanctuaryforall1
The Ravenclaw common room was often a place where Lydia took solace. She savored the privacy and elegance of the star studded ceiling, the thick blue carpeting, and the respectful hush of its occupants. However, Lydia’s favorite part of the Ravenclaw common room was the grande piano, tucked away in a secluded corner by a cozy couch and a reading desk. When Lydia got homesick, this was where you’d find her… and she got homesick a lot. Lydia was born to two of the sweetest muggles you would ever meet. Timothy and Eleanor Montgomery raised thoroughbred and Fresian horses in the western part of Northampton. An only child, Lydia had been doted on by her parents, raised on a horse farm she firmly believed all the horses there were her siblings, and she would argue with anyone who suggested otherwise. They made a modest living, and while they could never afford anything as lavish as the grande piano Lydia currently sat at, they had an old upright piano back home, slightly out of tune and with a few sticky keys.
Her fingers tapped gently along the ivories, playing a song her father had taught her when she was young. An excerpt from Tchaicovsky’s “Swan Lake” with a mournful, beautiful melody singing from the keys. Although it was only a solitary piano, when Lydia closed her eyes she could hear an entire orchestra with bellowing horns and wistful violins. She got lost in it, the way a drop of water became lost in the ocean. She was in a sort of trance as her fingers played the melody from muscle memory, until the feeling of hands on her shoulders and an excited squeal jerked her back into reality, causing her to play a flat note. She frowned as her melody was ruined, turning to see who the culprit was, only for the frown to be replaced by a gleeful laugh as she stood to hug Skyri, her very best friend.
“You’re early!!” she jumped up and down, refusing to release Skyri from her grasp until she was satisfied with their embrace. “How did you-” a knowing look crossed her face as she realized Ronan must’ve brought the entire Shore family via portkey. “Ah I forgot, Ronan.” she rolled her eyes, wondering where the Auror had wandered off to. If he wasn’t with Skyri, she assumed he was with the golden boy, Saber, back in the Gryffindor common room. “What am I? Chopped liver?” his playful voice echoed in the quiet common room as Lydia’s eyes narrowed into slits. “You’re not supposed to be in here.” She warned with a low growl, a disapproving glance was cast towards Skyri who smiled back sheepishly. “Sky, what did I tell you about letting strays in the common room?” Although her words were laced with annoyance, she couldn’t ever stay annoyed with Skyri. Saber, on the other hand, well she had been annoyed with Saber since they met back when Lydia was a first year.
She started walking towards their dorm with Skyri in tow, realizing she needed to change into her robes before they made their way down to the great hall for the welcome feast. She was wearing a simple blue dress, with white flowers sewn along the hem. Her gold locket hung around her neck, which she tucked into her dress as she reached for her robe which was hanging on one of her bed posts. “You’re not supposed to be in here either - this is a girls dorm” She snapped, realizing Saber was still following them. As much as he got on her nerves, it seemed that Saber was only encouraged by her annoyance with him. “Come on, we better get down to the great hall.” She said to the pair as she finished pulling on her robe, “I’m sure Saber’s girlfriend is looking for him.” she smirked softly, she didn’t know Kiara well but she knew that Saber always blushed when she brought up his girlfriend.
Anastasia Fay - Hufflepuff - 5th Year
Interacting With: Reesa Sanctuaryforall1 Draven Wolfiee
“Aunt Tanya - have you seen my - oh, nevermind, I found it!” Ana was a whirlwind of chaotic yellow and black as she reached for her wand, which was lying unattended on her Aunt Tanya’s desk. The light colored pear wood fit perfectly in her hand, feeling familiar and safe, but Ana still tucked the thing in her boot. Reesa always warned her that Ana would break her own wand if she kept doing that, but regardless, she kept doing that. Just as Ana was about to rush out the door, she yelped in surprise, stopping in her tracks. Her older sister had grabbed onto her hair and was working her tangles into a braid, despite Ana’s protests. Even though the younger girl pretended to be annoyed by her sister's incessant fussing, she secretly enjoyed the love and care that Reesa showed her every day, even with something as simple as making sure Ana looked presentable.
The summer had been memorable for the Fay’s to say the least, but who was Ana to complain? Reesa’s whole world had been turned upside down, her life changed forever, a newly bitten werewolf, and yet here she was worrying about her little sister's hair. Aunt Tanya had suddenly acquired two new house guests, who were rambunctious to boot and stirred chaos wherever they went. Despite the traumatic events of the summer, Ana seemed unwaveringly optimistic, excited to see her friends and even more excited to learn more magical skills this year. “Come on, come on, Come onnnn!!!” She tapped her foot impatiently at Reesa, who was braiding away with methodic fingers. The two Hufflepuff girls could’ve been twins, their blonde hair and greenish blue eyes identical, except Ana was a bit shorter. Ana had always looked up to Reesa as a role model, and she still did. Even as she caught Reese's reflection in the mirror in front of them, she found herself wishing that she had half the bravery or conviction that her older sister did.
Ana chewed on her lip as she willed herself to sit still. “Reesa we’re gonna be late!” she whined, as her sister tied off the end of her braid and shakily rose to her feet. As much sympathy as Ana had for her sister's newfound bruises and cuts, Ana’s impatience and excitement was unending. She watched as Reesa winced from the pain and effort it took to stand up, and Ana suddenly felt guilty for rushing her older sister. “Sorry … I’m just excited to see Skyri and Lydia.” She admitted sheepishly, rushing to support Reesa by sliding up under her shoulder and wrapping her arm around her waist, but Reesa gently pushed away, and Ana obediently backed up a few steps. Reesa had always been independent, and Ana was sure she didn’t like feeling weak or pitied. More importantly, she knew Reesa didn’t want people knowing about her newfound werewolf status, at least not yet. So all Ana could do was watch as her sister struggled.
By the time the pair had arrived at the great hall it seemed that the festivities were just starting. Ana was so busy searching the crowd for Skyri and Lydia that she walked straight into a much taller frame, her cheeks blistering pink as she looked up to her horror to see the headmaster staring down at her. “Professor Volkova…” she stuttered for a moment, trying to find the words to apologize but her tongue was tying itself in knots and all she came up with was a measly “sorry” before she turned back to her sister. She heard Reesa mutter something about ‘cool as a cucumber’ but Ana was hardly paying attention, keeping her head down until she neared the Ravenclaw table where Skyri and Lydia were sitting. “I’ll find you after” she whispered to Reesa before rushing over to the other girls, an excited squeal of glee coming from the three of them as the trio reunited. However, the girls were quickly hushed as Professor Volkova encouraged everyone to take their seats so that he could commence the welcome feast. Ana slouched in her seat, a yellow star in a sea of blue robes, but she had no intention of moving over to the Hufflepuff table.
Sebastian Blake - Slytherin - 6th Year
Interacting With: Scarlett LupinHallow Dorian and Essie Sanctuaryforall1
Sebastian had ditched his leather trunk in the slytherin dorms when he had arrived, not that the thing was very full anyways, a few extra robes and shirts, a couple terribly wrinkled pairs of pants that he was sure his sister would end up ironing for him. Most importantly, he had laid his broom on his bed, claiming the spot by the window as his own and ensuring that nothing would happen to his precious firebolt. He had been a bit surprised to find that Dorian was not in the dorms, though he had a sneaking suspicion where he would find his best friend. Bash made his way down the corridors of Hogwarts, past the great hall where everyone was gathering, avoiding a few hopelessly lost first years on his way. He jerked his head towards a few fellow quidditch team members from Slytherin house with a friendly smile… well, as friendly as Sebastian got anyways.
It was only when he reached the library that he began to slow his pace, scanning the spaces between bookshelves for his dark haired roommate. If not reading, then Dorian was probably working on his book, hunched over the thing at one of the many empty desks. He wasn’t surprised that the library was almost void of any life, no doubt all the students were getting settled in their dorms or gathering in the great hall for the welcome feast. Bash tousled his dark curls with his fingers as he turned to his left, looking for Dorian but instead, a flash of red hair caught his eye. His dark chocolate eyes trailed their way down from the head of fiery hair to her blue accented robes… a ravenclaw no doubt, but who was she? The girl was standing on her tiptoes, stretching her fingers out to grasp a book that was just out of her reach, and Bash seized the opportunity before he even had time to think about it. He closed the distance between them in three quick strides, reaching up for the book that she was so desperately trying to grab and plucking it from the shelf with ease.
“Bookworm, huh?” It was more of a statement than a question as he began flipping through the pages of what appeared to be some sort of magical history book. He furrowed his brows as he leafed through the pages, it looked far too dense for his liking. “What’s your name?” he asked without looking up from the book. The girl reluctantly informed him that her name was Scarlett, and that, of course, drew a smirk to his lips. “Scarlett because of the hair I assume?” he grinned, gesturing towards her fiery locks. Just as she was about to answer, Sebastian heard a familiar voice over his shoulder. “Bash, stop bothering the poor girl.” Dorian had a bag slung over his shoulder and was pacing in the opposite direction, “Ah, just the man I was looking for.” Sebastian began to follow after his friend, who seemed to be headed towards the great hall, but couldn’t resist turning back towards the red headed girl “See you around, Scarlett.” he smirked, handing the book over to her before sauntering away.
When Sebastian and Dorian reached the great hall, they sat down on either side of Essie. Sebastian never knew what to say around Esfir, what with them being informally engaged - not by their own doing but by their parents. Still, in Sebastian’s mind he was free to flirt and enjoy the company of other women until the day the pair signed their marriage agreement, if their arranged marriage ever came to fruition. He glanced over at Dorian, who seemed to be watching Kiara and Saber from a distance. Bash couldn’t help but roll his eyes. “Shore thinks he owns the damn place doesn’t he?” His companions did not seem to share his distaste for Saber, but they didn’t have time to discuss the matter any further. A hush settled over the great hall as Headmaster Volkova took the stand and began speaking.
