Fantasy The Underground

"If I may interject," the demon tried, lightly raising a hand, "I can stay here with Vytas; it's really no trouble, and he can explore a little more while you two visit that friend."

Realizing that it didn't sound as right as he intended, instead seeming like they had to listen to him. Shion quickly shook his head, trying to correct his mistake. "I-it's only an idea," he hurriedly said, "But I can protect him if need be, and...and I thought it'd be more fun for him while you two saw that friend. Maybe for only fifteen, or twenty minutes more before heading back-- I gotta get him that souvenir, probably a pretzel or soft taco from the 24-hour taco truck around the corner--" He sometimes forget how good his nose was. "--but it's only an idea."

@Axel1313 @Beowulf @Aridis

The devil walked along the beam of the ceiling, hands tucked away in his baggy back pockets. He was in some branch of the castle, a maid having summoned him for companionship as she swabbed the elegant floors clean - and she did a fantastic job, really. Marx was starting to get bored out of his mind, wondering who his next caller would be, or what they wanted; if nothing happened soon, maybe he'd go hang out with Sarah and Michael on the Surface.

See, they were these human children that always played in the neighborhood park all the time, no matter the weather conditions. Where they were, it was sunny and warm; aka a big change from the Underground. Marx was their "imaginary friend", usually only showing up when they "looked" for him except during the times when he was more bored than hell itself.

Like right now.

"Funny, I don't really work during the day." No exaggeration, usually he just waited until nightfall to pull his magic. Up until that point, the Wraith just kinda...slept. Maybe update some important person of something he had managed to piece together from his findings; but mostly slept. Just because he was a "monster" didn't mean that he had to deprive himself of basic survival needs. And, fortunately for Atlas, eating delicious home-baked goods counted as a survival need. He hadn't eaten since sundown the day before, so it was an understatement to say that he was hungry.

If he had been sitting down, the raven would've jumped to his feet in less than a second. Excited for the lemon squares, he followed behind Sisceal like a lost puppy. He hadn't even seen if they had turned out alright yet, and Atlas was already bright eyed and happy about them. They could've ended up burnt to hell and he probably would've stuffed his cheeks with an entire pan's worth.

@Axel1313

"Fine..." He muttered.

Awesome, more talk about the wonderful fiancé. He knew that his brother meant well, so the younger Prince tried not to visibly act even more upset than he was about the matter. It was at this time that the kid decided to shut his trap for a little while. Something would most likely come along to get him to start yapping again; but for now, he chose to just gently push himself back and forth on the swing with his legs.

@Axel1313 @Hoki @Beowulf

"It is above ground you dolt." Buras reprimanded him, acting more like an uncle then a guard. "And it's not to far away if I remember rightly. There'll most likely be a place to get that souvenir you want so much." he added. Then Shion added his idea. Guard young Vytas while he took Austere with him to Muffets'. While that wasn't a bad idea, he still didn't trust the man. He could simply be bidding his time and waiting for an opportunity to kidnap the prince and ransom him off. You never knew.

((@Axel1313 @Hoki @Aridis ))

"Thank you dear." he said, still calm. "But we do not know of any other way then this amulet. I will search for one, but until then this thing is our only feasible hope. As for my sons, they are rather smart, aren't they? Hopefully they will be able to think their way out of what ever mess they may end up in. And if a guard is with them, then I know they are safe."

Magdalene was more than stressed with her busy day at the office; She had been performing a complete internal audit of TR inc and it's subsidiary companies. She had been attempting to call anyone at TR inc. who could explain all of these mystery expenses. After hours of digging, she came across information regarding a few failed pursuits trying to eliminate a community of fey. After some more digging, she uncovered documents that suggested finding said community took months, at least, and that very little had been accomplished afterward.

She changed her tactic after learning this information. She immediately sought out the Chief Human Resources Officer, seizing the phone numbers of all active field operatives. She ran through the list, calling all operatives alphabetically. Most numbers immediately went to voicemail, until she came upon Operative Poarta's number. She waited patiently for him to pick up...

@Axel1313

"Let's keep the damage and cover-up to a minimum okay? Your grenades and other heavy artillery can wait...save them for something more important because we do need these ones as intact as possible." He grumbled. The sudden phonecall only agitated him more. What could it be now? "Bah...just a moment you two... Hello?" He tried his best to cover up the attitude in his voice as soon as he caught that the call was from a higher up on the ID.

@CalamariHero @Beowulf @rosamortelle

Operative Poarta had picked up the phone. Magdalene skipped the greeting, jumping straight to business. "Poarta. This is Magdalene Albaz, CAE. Are you currently pursuing the fae? If so, I need you to refrain from any confrontation. It has come to my attention that, between the several failures and my inability to reach any for of management, I need to conduct a full internal audit of the company. Thus, I need to eliminate any risk factors that may have been introduced by any executive decisions. Any form of confrontation is explicitly prohibited. You may, however, continue to watch from afar. I will be on my way to conduct my audit in person." Magdalene gave Poarta a moment to respond, so she could confirm that he would comply.

@Axel1313

"I uh....think it would be wisest to stick together up here..." He dug his heels into the dirt nervously. "We haven't been up here that long, we should still have plenty of time right?" He cocked his head curiously. Letting his long braid fall off of his shoulder. He was hoping he could negotiate with Vytas and Buras with this. He did trust Shion quite a bit as well, his brother, as brash and gung-ho as he may be, did have an admirable judge of character when it came to others. "Maybe we could even visit a candy store? I remember humans have the best sweets. Like this one treat called 'rock candy' I remember an old friend of mine sneaking some in long ago, it looked like little crystals and tasted so great." Austere's face brightened up at the thought of it. If there was anything he still liked from the humans it was their food, especially the candy.

@Aridis @Hoki @Beowulf

"Alright, if you insist Gareth dearest." Una offered a reassuring smile and nodded. "As for your sons? They are in no doubts bright enough that they should be able to handle any situation they are in or could get in. They know all too well when to run and when to fight. Why, simply knowing how you are is enough comfort in trusting they are safe and well trained.

@Beowulf

"Wait, what?" The tires of the vehicle screeched as he slowed suddenly and pulled over to the side of the street. "Bah....this is kind of an inconvenient time, but fine I suppose? We are very close to recapturing the targets. If we wait any longer they may get away." He scratched his head as he put the vehicle in part. Dammit all, they were so close too according to the tracking device. Not to mention he already knew a certain trigger happy somebody was going to not be a happy camper now. He let out a heavy sigh and continued on. "Guess we'll stay where we are for now till you get here and hope they don't move by then.

@CalamariHero @Beowulf @rosamortelle

"Ahhh right, with the whole wraith thing." He chuckled. He still didn't quite understand it all, but he at least got the gist of it...or a least partially understood? "Here you go, and a nice cold glass of milk to wash it all down too." Sisceal smiled brightly as he set down a plate of not just one, but a mound of lemon bars in front of Atlas. "Don't eat em too fast though. I don't have much for helping upset stomachs around here."

@Aridis

"Rock candies!" The demon couldn't keep his voice from raising, eyes widening brightly, "Oh, I haven't been to a candy store in ages!" He rubbed his nose for a brief moment, taking a whiff of the air. "There's one a few blocks from here," Shion informed them, "They're open, and they've definitely got rock candies-" He looked at the mildly upset Vytas and tried to cheer him up with the idea of treats. "-jawbreakers, gummy worms, gummy bears, gummy sharks! They've got hard candies and sour stuff, and chocolates!"

Realizing that he just kept on rambling, his cheeks lit up like his hair. Looking at Buras and Austere, he awkwardly mumbled an apology, rubbing the back of his neck.

@Aridis @Axel1313 @Beowulf

"Come children," Marx sang out with a devilish grin on his face, arms out to the side as he walked along the ceiling beam, "Come children, what games we will play~ Roll the dice and see where you go, venture too far and you'll lose sight-"

He dropped from the beam, leathery little wings slowing the fall so that he didn't break or disrupt the fall with his landing.

"-of the devil that'll find you again."

The little demon started wandering the castle halls, hands once again buried in his deep pockets. The halls were quiet and an air had poisoned the walls; something was brewing, but Marx didn't know nor did he care what it was. Yet.

Pouting a bit, the boy glanced up at Buras and stuck his tongue out at him for a moment. Yeah, it was Vytas' fault for getting mixed up. He had mistaken the suggestion for being one where they immediately had to return to the Underground. The Prince, despite heavily enjoying his time outside, was gradually getting paranoid about the moment that his time ran out. He wanted to stay up here forever, and was dreading returning more than anything. Down there he didn't get to have any fun, and there were only so many places that he could explore. Up here, there was an entire world. Despite knowing that it was his own fault for getting worked up so soon over something so small, he refused to admit it. Vytas was too stubborn for such a thing; and had immediately fallen back on his childish habits in order to defend himself.

The suggestion about stocking up on candy piqued his interest. He had a serious sweet tooth. Sugar was his second life. Even though he was more than aware that it wasn't good for his health at all, the boy didn't care. So, the idea about visiting the shop immediately flipped his mood.

His gaze darting back and forth between his brother and Shion, the raven's eyes widened a bit in awe. "Are they really that good?! I wanna try some!"

@Hoki @Axel1313 @Beowulf

Atlas thought that he had dropped into one of the lower levels of heaven or something. The smell of the lemon squares alone just about had him drooling. He immediately fell into a rather childish mood, practically bouncing up and down in his seat out of excitement. Given the fact that he basically lived off of fast food and grease, having something actually homemade just kind of set him off. Again, they could end up tasting horrible, and he would still consume every single crumb.

Picking up one of the squares, he flashed a smile in the priest's direction. "Because of my undying gratitude for this meal, I shall try not to turn into a vacuum monster and inhale everything at once." And he did. At first. Blame the hunger for him consuming more than half of the plate at an inhuman speed. However, Atlas did slow down after that first half was gone. Instead of eating just for the sake of not having his stomach yell at him anymore, the teenager actually manage to slow himself down to a point where he could actually taste the lemon squares.

And he had been right to think that he was suddenly in heaven. Because holy crap they were amazing.

@Axel1313

"They are the best! Especially the cinnamon ones!" A bright grin appeared on Austere's face as his timidness melted away for a moment. He was a sucker for anything cinnamon flavored. Sweet yet spicy and warmed you up. Yum! "Since it is still early they may have everything restocked and be fairly empty too right?" He looked to Shion in hopes of an answer. He didn't know the human world all that well. Especially now that everything was so advanced, but that conclusion seemed reasonable enough. Humans were strangely predictable with things like this.

@Hoki @Aridis @Beowulf

"I guess we'll just take shifts for now. No use in us all sitting in this car at the same time. I think it would also be wisest to start with the one with the tracking device." He looked to Penelope who seemed to be deeply focused on her work. Then got back to his phone. "The car should be easy enough to track down. Connor and I are going to do a little patrolling for a while okay? We will remain in the area though, when you get here call me ASAP." He shut off the car and stepped out. "Come on Connor. Let's get going. Oh, and we'll make sure to bring you back a coffee and doughnut too Chief." He pat the hood of the car and walked off down the street.

@Beowulf @CalamariHero (@rosamortelle , simply tagging so you know where we've left your character for the time being and making it easier to get back into things when you return. :) ))

"Wait," Connor said as he jerked his head next to the driver's seat. "Why'd we stop? I was told I was going to shoot things. And now we're going on a patrol? For what? Targets?" He really was like a child. A crazy gun nut child.

((@Axel1313 @CalamariHero))

"Right then, it's settled." Bras said as he lifted his halberd once more onto his shoulder. "I shall lead the way. Your highnesses, please stay close. And you, Shion, look for anything I might miss." And with that, he set off, taking much smaller strides then what he would normally take to make it easier for the others to keep up.

((@Aridis @Hoki))

Aaaaand he was officially back in his energetic mood. Vytas' body hummed with energy. If his elder brother and new friend were both recommending the candy, then it had to be the freaking best in the world. Hell, even if it wasn't, as long as it was sweet he really didn't care. The younger Prince all but ran after Buras; being careful to not stray too far ahead in fear of being scolded. No doubt their trip to the candy shop would be slowed a bit if they had to stop long enough for the kid to get lectured.

Still, there was a very obvious skip in his stride. He couldn't wait for the next part of their adventure to begin, and definitely couldn't wait for whatever would follow after.

@Hoki @Axel1313 @Beowulf

"Calm down calm down...yeesh." Agent Poarta rolled his eyes as he broke out a cigarette. "We're only going on patrol so we can take turns with stake out. No use in all of us sitting there uselessly to the company right?" He shook his head. "All I ask is that you try to not go too nuts. If we find a target don't get too trigger happy. We may be able to question them. It may just earn us back some points."

@Beowulf @CalamariHero

Austere smiled brightly as he leaped off of the swing to followed his energetic brother and his friend. Poor Buras was dealing with so much tonight, but at least they had finally come to some sort of compromise on what to do with the night now. "We should have time for a souvenir after the candyshop. I can't imagine taking horribly long in there. Unless Vytas eats himself into another sweets stomach ache again." He teased. "Father was not happy that you ate almost all of the deserts for the big important guests...and not so happy that I didn't say anything either."

@Aridis @Hoki @Beowulf

Buras kept a very firm eye on the young prince. He was sure that he wouldn't go scampering off down some alley or another, but one could never be to certain with him. Sometimes if felt like he had the attention span of a catfish. But, that being said, he was a remarkably stubborn catfish at times. And besides, there could be darker things close by then a prince that was to energetic for his own good.

((@Axel1313 @Hoki @Aridis ))

Gareth gave a small smile at what Una had to say about his two sons. "Thank you. Now, I have a Sanctuary to run. There is, least my advisers and councilors have told me there is, a ship with some Sanctuary leaders. Small Sanctuaries, but Sanctuaries none the less. And if I remember correctly, one of them has been freshly appointed to her office. A hand to guide her won't go amiss, I'm certain, and a vote in the Council is a vote. It may not have as much weight as your's or mine, but stack enough pebbles and they will weigh like a mountain." His mood had brightened considerably since the beginning of it all, knowing that his boys could more than likely handle themselves. They would still be punished, of course, but at this point it is only to be expected.

((@Axel1313 ))

"A stake out?" Connor said incredulously, "You expect me to sit here, with my toys, and do nothing?" This was not what he was meant for, he was meant to shoot things. Blow them up, kill them. Not sit around looking at nothing. That was for people like that Magdalene person. He remembers seeing her around the place when he wasn't out on Hunts. But all he saw her doing was hold a clip board and stare daggers at anyone that touched anything.

((@Axel1313 @CalamariHero ))

"I shall leave you to that then Gareth dearest and I will give you a call if anything turns up about your boys." She bowed gracefully before exiting the room. Her fairies close on her heels, whispering all then knew in her ears. "Ah, it is good to know that he is alive still. Stubborn as always but alive." She chuckled at her stories of the wraith that had caused them troubled. "I am sorry you had to deal with that little ones. I do have another task for you. The king's sons appear to be missing, could you find them for me?"

She watched with a patient smile as they all huffed and scoffed at her, but eventually flew off again on a new quest.

@Beowulf

"Only for chief at the moment. We'll wander about on patrol. Now get your arse outta the car and lets get going." He motioned impatiently for him to follow. "It's probably best you get to run free anyway so you're not as stir crazy. All I'm gonna ask is keep property damage to a minimum. I don't want to get yelled at by the auditor who's on their way and I do enjoy getting all of my paycheck.

@Beowulf @CalamariHero

Shion smiled to himself, watching the two princes with moderate interest. It was just so...I guess, interesting to see how they reacted, and how different they were to him - even to each other. Vytas was still a child of course, so that already presented a clear difference in personality. Austere was rather timid, but a little goofy once the situation called for it.

Seeing the brothers interact with each other in the manner that they did was a sight all on its own; not in a bad way, it was just that the demon couldn't help but observe.

Speaking of which--

There was a presence the redhead noticed - it didn't feel like much but he still noticed it. Not wanting to attract attention, Shion didn't even react to it, only letting his considerably refined sense of smell do the work.

He ended up with nothing, but better that than something that could be concerning. Allowing a smile to return to his lips, the Raiju dismissed it all and raised his hand, pointing at the candy store as they drew closer. "I think they're having a sale," Shion commented after his extended period of silence, "How lucky."

-Earlier that day-

The autonomous weapon known as Genesis stood in the center of an empty warehouse, that served as his room. It watched two people run out the exit with broken hands. A surgeon and an Robotic engineer. Both members of the Order. They had instructions to remove Genesis' vocal cords. Unfortunately for them Genesis did not enjoy being operated on.

With the two gone Genesis entered standby mode as it awaited new orders.

-Present-

The metal casing over its left shoulder flicked open. The large eye's pupil dilated and contracted as it adjusted to the light, or lack of. Genesis white eye slots lit up, bringing life to its black face. On its HUD it saw several dozen requests for use denied and two that had been approved. Simultaneously it sent out its standard pings. A message to all in a high ranking position to inform them he was departing, and a Ping to the two requester's to verify that it was still needed.

Turning around, Vytas changed his position so that he was walking backwards; and yet he still kept the same pace as before. One would think that such an act might be a bit dangerous, but he had just about perfected the performance. Unless there was a serious drop like a curb or something, he would be able to keep going without falling. Glancing back at his brother, the kid pouted softly. "Hey, I was told that I was allowed to have as much as I wanted. And I really really liked those cookies and little cakes..." Pretty much anything made by the cooks he liked. As long as it didn't contain vegetables, he absolutely loved it. And the deserts were of no exception to this; he thought that they were the best, especially at parties.

The raven glanced toward Shion, his smile just as bright as ever at the thought of sweets. "Hey, what kind of candy do they have there? Is it different from the stuff in the Underground?"

@Hoki @Axel1313 @Beowulf

"I don't think they meant the whole dessert table though." Austere chuckled happily. "I haven't seen the treats from here in forever, but I do know they are vastly different. Humans seem to like super sweet things more than we and some sour stuff too! They love mixing strange things as well and making them taste delicious. They aren't as stuck in old ways as we do and have a lot more different ingredients to use." He got a little skip in his step as he spoke about the kinds of things the humans had. He was not the most knowledgeable about them anymore but he was excited none the less.
