It was a cold day in Sweetlake, Kansas. It was Spring, a wonderful season, April 1st to be specific. Spring is when all the things that died in Winter begin to regrow and the Earth sprouts like a newborn baby, however the things that die in Spring very rarely sprout again. Flowers were blooming, birds were chirping, it was a beautiful day, for some. But those in the town of Sweetlake will not remember this day for it's beauty, they'll remember it for something entirely different. You see, on this day, the police of Sweetlake found the body of a little girl; Jenny Thompson. They say it was the police who found her but it was really the Priest. He had found Jenny's limp body hanging from the ceiling of the church, her body barely attached to her neck. The girl had disappeared three days earlier.
The small Kansas town became the center of media. Conspiracies spread, was she killed by aliens or the government? Tourists gathered at the small town to watch the mystery unfold. Reporters and detectives swarmed the town. We open here, on this small town in the morning. It's been, around, one week since the murder and the murderer still has not been found.

Welcome to Sweetlake.

It had been three days since Jenny had disappeared, four days since Ryan had taken the six-year old out to get ice cream with Mila and Nate. That day, the girl was laughing and smiling, having the time of her life. Ryan missed that day...it was the last day he truly spent time with his little sister, let alone his siblings. Ever since she went missing, Ryan hasn't been himself. The young man is constantly on edge, waiting to hear anything about what happened. He checked his phone twenty-four seven, he ran out and checked the newspaper every morning, he had the radio on full volume in the house so he could hear the news.

This morning was when the news hit. Ryan was beyond mortified. Their little sister had been killed, murdered in cold blood. Ryan couldn't even imagine the sight... his little sister hanging from the ceiling, her head nearly off her shoulders... It was sure to be a horrible sight. Of course, him and his parents had the right to see the scene of the crime since they were older, but Ryan refused. He'd rather stay beside his brother and sister, comfort them in any way they need. He's trying to stay strong, holding back his own emotions for his siblings. He couldn't show his own weakness, he had to stay strong for these two.

Right now, Ryan was sitting at the kitchen table with his spoon dipped into the yellowing milk of his cereal. He couldn't eat, he could hardly get anything into his stomach. He pushed the bowl of Captain Crunch aside, breathing out a shaky breathe as he clenched his shaky hands. He averted his gaze down at his lap, closing his eyes as he held back his tears. He cleared his throat, pushing himself to a stand. "Mom should be home soon. I'm getting in the shower. If... If you need anything, just come knock on the door," Ryan told his sister and brother, glancing at them before heading upstairs to the bedroom where he would gather his clothes for the day.

Mila Thompson
Deep down, she knew. Mila knew that Jenny wasn't going to come back to them, not alive at least. Those crimes shows she liked to watch sometimes always said the longer someone is missing, especially a kid, the less of a chance they had of coming back. But you're always hopeful. Maybe she could have beaten the odds, maybe she escaped and they would find her in another day or two, or maybe the kidnapper would have a change of heart. But no...they weren't that lucky. Jenny wasn't that lucky.

Mila did her best to ignore the news. She wanted to remember Jenny's smile, her laugh, her warm hugs that always made anyone's day better. Mila was with her when she was taken. She turned away just for a second, and Jenny was taken right from.under her nose. She spent hours looking afterwards, and eventually got the police involved. But they hadn't been quick enough. Jenny was gone, and gone for good. The shock of the news still hasn't worn off.

Mila stared down at her food, not a single thing had been touched even though Ryan had made her one of her favorite things for breakfast. But she didn't want to.sour it with the memory of this morning. Unlike Ryan however, she did nothing to hold back her tears. She couldn't. All she could imagine was the sight of Jenny's body, how they appaerntly found her.... Mila couldn't stomach anything, let alone eat breakfast.

Looking up briefly as Ryan got up to go shower, she just nodded, before looking back down at her plate. After a few minutes, she finally stood, and gathered her plate and Ryan's bowl of ceral; dumping both in the trash before adding the plate and bowl to the sink. Alicia Thompson

Alicia hadn't been with her daughters that day, that one fateful day. She had been angry with Jenny and didn't pick her up from school, telling her sister instead to pick her up. Alicia had always felt that her fourth child had ruined her figure, since she hadn't been able to lose all the pregnancy weight. She felt resentful of Jenny because of this, even though she knew it wasn't Jenny's fault. Alicia loved her children, despite her odd hangups. But when Mila ( FireMaiden FireMaiden ) came to her crying, saying Jenny was nowhere to be found, Alicia couldn't help but feel responsible for how many times she had wished the child gone.

And then, that one fateful day when the Priest had seen the body hanging from the church. Alicia saw the body of her own child and felt...

Alicia stood at the door to her home, bags of groceries in each arm. Her breath stumbled as she remembered the whole thing. She suddenly pulled herself back to reality. Opening the door, she stepped in the house. "Anyone home?" she called. She heard the shower on and walked into the kitchen. Putting the groceries away, she noticed Mila. "Hello, sweetheart!" she said, cheerily. "Is Ryan ( Nefelibata726 Nefelibata726 ) in the shower? School is starting soon, you two should get ready." It was strange for a mourning mother to be so cheerful.

Alicia put the groceries away quite neatly, tucking each item into their respective spot. After all the food was put away, she picked up the last item; a pack of cheese sticks, Jenny's favorite snack. For a moment she was quiet, her pupils tiny and her eyes wide. Then, her lips twisted into a forced smile and she threw the cheese sticks in the trash, saying, "Well, we won't be needing those, will we?"

Gwenn Fairchild
Jenny Thompson. Gwenn didn't really know the Thompson Family that well, but she knew how it felt to loose someone. Especially someone so young like that. It sucked, and it hurt harder than it normally would, and the hurt would never really pass. However, it would get easier with time. But I guess, a few hours wouldn't be enough for it to pass.

Gwenn stood from the kitchen table, putting plate in the sink, before heading up to her mother's room and knocking on the door. "Hey mom?" No reply. "You should really come get something to eat. I left some breakfast for you in the microwave," She said, waiting another minute before she sighed, and went back down stairs to the bathroom, grabbing a towel on the way. She needed to shower.

after she got out, she went and checked the food she left for her mom, pleased to see that some of it was gone. After her little brother... Gwenn's mother had refused to do most of well...anything. She had a job, but it was night shift in a city nearly and hour away. Her mom had a few things worth running from. Or at least, that's how Gwenn justified it.

Her outfit for the day was a crop top and skinny jeans with some black heels. She couldn't imagine how school was gonna go today.

Mila Thompson
Upon hearing the front door open, Mila quickly wiped her tears away. Her mother was a stickler for keeping up appearances, and red puffy eyes was definitely going against that. "Y-yeah," She answered, "Hi mom." Mila turned slightly to face her mother, forcing a smile. "Yeah, he's uh, he's taking a shower." Mila stood by, fiddling with her thumbs while her mom put away the groceries. She couldn't help but wonder why she was so...happy. Especially after the news they we're hit with.

Then her mom brought up school, and Mila's heart sank. "Mom, can't we..." She was gonna ask if they could just skip today, but Mila felt like her mom would say no. "Okay, yeah, I guess we should," She muttered quietly, running a and through her hair. Mila wasn't looking forward to school today.

Ryan spent the next ten minutes in the shower, letting his thoughts drift to his sister once more. He knew he shouldn't think about it, he knew he should try and move on, but he couldn't stop those thoughts that invaded his mind. Her smile, her laugh, the way she held herself up, the way she was so positive... She didn't have a care in the world. Imagining the last days, Ryan hated the idea of Jenny being alone...scared...hurt. It should have been him. Jenny had so much in life, she shouldn't have been killed.

Ryan couldn't help but wonder who the killer was. If it was a human, he would find him, or her, and make them suffer for what they did to his baby sister. Maybe... maybe it wasn't even human. Maybe it was a demon or aliens. It could have been anything for all they know. The young man knew it was silly, but he couldn't help but believe those sorts of creatures existed, the paranormal. All his life he had done research, he knew they were real. They had to be. If the killer isn't found... they might even be some supernatural thing.

Ryan sighed and shook his head. No. That was stupid. They were going to find the killer, or at the very least, Ryan would find the killer. He won't let his sister's death go unavenged. She died for no reason, it was wrong. All of it. Ryan stepped out of the shower and dried off before pulling on a black t-shirt and blue jeans. He slipped on a black belt and glanced at his appearance in the mirror. He had to stop thinking about it, he had to not show weakness.

Ryan turned on his mother's hair dryer, using it to quickly dry his hair before he combed it out the best he could. The thick dark hair could never be contained, it was always all over the place. Sighing, he set down the blowdryer and left the bathroom. Going to his room, he sat down on his bed and grabbed his pair of brown boots and black socks, pulling them on. Focus on school. Don't talk about Jenny. Don't even think about Jenny.

Ryan headed downstairs, looking at his mother will a slight smile. "Ill take Mila and Nate to school, don't worry about it," Ryan offered, gathering his books from the kitchen table and sliding them into his backpack. Ryan honestly felt ten times better being in charge of Mila and Nate. It meant he could make sure nothing bad happened to them. Plus it was kind of fun bossing them around. It would get his mind off...well...we all know who it would get his mind off of.

A flashlight, a box cutter, a small notebook and a pen was all she had decided to take with her to her first outing around town. Adinna had spent the night before planning on exactly what she'd take and how she'd even start this thing. How do you openly investigate a little girls murder?

It wasn't something she was doing for fun, this wasn't something she'd planned on doing to take her mind off school or family troubles. But she could imagine how others could believe that if she were to tell anyone. Adinna hadn't been particularly close to Jenny Thompson, maybe a small encounter on her way back from school or maybe some Halloween where Adinna had been giving out candy. Jenny seemed like a sweet kid, but that was as far as she knew. However, when the news finally got around that she'd been found hanging from the church ceiling she couldn't just go about like nothing happened. Adinna had a younger sister too, one who was naive and sweet just like Jenny Thompson. She couldn't allow it to happen again, especially not to a young child.

And so she'd gathered some supplies she thought she'd need. Having decided to skip school for today, she thought she'd go around town asking for any possible witness accounts or possibly finding something the police had missed in their hurry and surprise. That was what she hoped for anyway. With a final zip she swung her backpack on her shoulders and turned her room's light off. What scared her most at the moment is that her efforts would be in vain.

Just a few weeks ago, everything was fine. Normal, it was perfect. Nate enjoyed his daily life.

But when his sister Jenny went missing, and turned up dead a few days later, everything changed.

Not only was Nate even quieter then normal, he didn't want to be around anyone. Strange, huh? He was terrified of being alone, but recently all he wanted was to be by himself. He was scared that, if he tried to talk to someone, he'd cry. He did enough of that, he had to put on a brave face. For his mom, for his brother and sister. At breakfast, Nate could only stare at the bowl of fruity pebbles in front of him. The cereal itself was now soggy and gross, and after Ryan left for a shower, Nate followed. He threw away the food, not hungry at all, and left to find his room. It was a small room, full of pictures and books. He sighed and stared, his chest heavy. Only when he heard his mom walk into the house did he look away and check the time.

School was the last thing Nate wanted. He hated the gossip, the bullies, the noise. Absolutely hated it. But he pushed that away and forced himself to change. A black shirt with a red flannel jacket, filthy jeans and his favorite pair of Spider-Man socks.

Nate grabbed his red backpack off his desk and shoved his papers and notebooks inside, filling it with a sketchbook and pencils. He planned to draw for a bit after school, that always calmed him down. He could draw whatever he wanted, just get lost in his own world, and not worry about anything. He could forget everything's that happened, act like everything's okay, just for a little bit.

Nathaniel ran out of his room, tossing the bag on the ground. Ryan and Mila were out there with mom, might as well include himself, right? He marched up to his mother and gave her a hug, and being rather short he had to hug her hips. Despite how much he wanted to be alone, he loved his mothers hugs. He never got a chance when he woke up that morning.

Alicia Thompson

Alicia smiled at Mila ( FireMaiden FireMaiden ), twirling a bit of Mila's chocolate brown hair in her fingers. "You know how important a good education is to your future, darling," Alicia told her daughter, "Don't you want to be at the top?" When Ryan ( Nefelibata726 Nefelibata726 ) walked in, Alicia smiled at him. "Hello, sweetheart, good morning. Thank you for being so helpful!" Nate ( a sleepy boy a sleepy boy ) hugged her hips and she brushed her hand through his soft, brown hair. She bent down and kissed him on the forehead. "Be good to your brother and sister, baby."

Alicia took some bright red lipstick out of her purse and applies a fresh coat to her lips. "Now, I'm off to...work," she paused oddly for a moment but didn't let it break her stride. "Ryan, sweetheart, don't forget to make your siblings lunch before you go to school."
None of Alicia's children knew what she did for work but she did and, at least, it made money. "I love you babies! See you tonight!" With that, she walked towards the front door to, once again, go out somewhere.

Deaths didn't phase Alexa one bit. Not at all, it fascinates her, sure. Though, when word spread about Jenny being murdered, Alexa was shocked, shocked to say the least. Sure, she didn't really socialize with Jenny, but that doesn't mean her death, or any death happening in the small town wasn't a shock.
Alexa remembered when she found out about the poor girl's death, her mother told her over breakfast, which didn't really help the sinister mood that had took Alexa's household. She bets on her life that any of the Thompson family suspected her, all because of her morbid curiosity about serial killers, which kind of irked her.

She sees Mila out on the street, though never really speaks to her, though does acknowledge her, and does go to school with the siblings. Grabbing a hair brush and a VHS tape, she stuck it in the recorder, sat back on her arm chair while brushing her teal colored hair, she gazed at the interviews one of many of Dahmer's. Her new interest. And the question came to mind as she was gazing at the grainy TV. How was she murdered? Was it quick? How do you go about asking the mom about it? All this zoomed through her blank mind and soon, turned the interview off and decided to get dressed ready for school.

Seen as an outcast, Alexa drags her feet and her body language was more... strange. She's adopted the serial killer's apparent 'Do The Dahmer', in which he would mimic epileptic seizures or cerebal palsy. She does this, not because she is a killer, but because she relates to him. She relates to the fact of sheer desperation and loneliness. Though, she never thought that would get her so much attention.

Alter "Axel" Bane

Axel didn't know Jenny well. They had met once when he was walking home from school and saw the girl with her older brother, Ryan ( Nefelibata726 Nefelibata726 ). Axel had tripped and fell on his face and Ryan had noticed and helped him up. Since, he had always had a slight crush on Ryan, or so he'd like to think. He hated the idea of having a crush on someone. He hated how seeing them made him feel happy and bubbly inside. He always felt like they'd just say no and he'd go back to being depressed and lonely. But he had never really seen Jenny after that. He wasn't effected too badly by the death, considering he had no relationship with the victim, but he was scared that they hadn't caught the murderer yet and he was a bit hurt that his mother didn't care more. She hadn't set any sort of curfew or put into place any sort of rules or restrictions to protect him. He wondered if she even knew, or cared, that there was a murderer.

He was heading to school early, Axel was listening to music on his Walkman. He understood that it was outdated but he didn't have the money to buy an iPod or anything of the sort. He had Green Day on and wasn't quite watching where he was going. He stepped on a can on the sidewalk and tripped, scraping his knees (which were open to the air because of his way past edgy cool pants). "Ow!" He swore under his breath, hoping his Walkman wasn't broken.

Alexa walked a few paces behind Axel, she saw him trip and simply walked past him. She didn't want to deal with that bullshit, today. Well, she never does. At all. As the girl walked, her oversized trench coat flowing around by her sides. She got a few steps in front of the lad and stopped, she rolled her eyes and growled under her breath, and swiftly turned around and just looked at him, and flung her arms open.

"Hey, kid. Think the ground doesn't appreciate you laying on it, so get up." She simply stated, and checked her watch and her patience started to grow thin with the lad. Hiking her skinny jeans up, she simply waited. "Anytime now, like I have all day. Don't need to be anywhere, and besides, would rather you be okay than me be accused of some fucked shit, though, I bet that's already happened, hasn't it?" Her voice was low and gritty, quite cold, also.

Mila Thompson
"Of course," Mila replied quietly, before she walked past her mother and brothers, "I'll go get ready I guess," She explained, before heading upstairs to her room. The bright colors of her decorating choices seemed inappropriate considering the situation. Mila hesitated in her doorway, lingering because she didn't want to face what was inside. But she couldn't spend long, and took painful steps inside. Jenny liked to draw her pictures, or give her finished pages from coloring books. One wall in her room was covered in Jenny's drawings, vibrant colors and silly shapes...Mila did her best not to look at any of them as she slowly began to get ready. Skinny jeans and a lightweight hoodie with her hair up in a high ponytail was really the only thing she felt like she could handle right now. Putting effort into her outfit was the last thing on her mind.

As she passed her vanity, she caught sight of her cochlear implant, and paused. She remembered the day she got it, how could she forget something like that? Mila chuckled as she remembered how Jenny wasn't the greatest with sign language, but she couldn't blame Jenny. She was only three, but she did her best. Mila's 12th birthday was the day they spend over three hours in the car, and then who knows how long in surgery, but the first thing Mila heard was her family telling her they loved her. Mila cried, it was emotional, and worth every penny. Leaning to speak was an ordeal, but it was worth it. Mila still sometimes uses sign language, but not as often as she did.

Shaking her head, Mila quickly slipped on some shoes and grabbed her bookbag heading back downstairs. "Bye mom!" She called before her mother left the house, walking back into the kitchen. "We should probably get going." a sleepy boy a sleepy boy GoldenSlime GoldenSlime Nefelibata726 Nefelibata726

Ryan glanced at his little brother when he moved past him before he looked at his mother once more. "Of course, you know I'm always happy to help," he said with a slight smile. "I wont," he assured her, walking over to the fridge and opening the door, pulling out a package of cheese and turkey meat. He proceeded to make three turkey sandwiches, slipping each one into a zip lock bag. He opened the drawer under the sink, digging through the numerous left over sauce packets from fast food restaurants. Pulling out a couple packs of mayonnaise, he slipped one into his own sandwich bag and put the other into Nate's ( a sleepy boy a sleepy boy ). "I know, I know. I'm hurrying. You didn't want mayo today, right Mila? ( FireMaiden FireMaiden )" the young man asked, looking toward his sister.

Suddenly Ryan spotted movement from the corner of his eye, his gaze looking out the window at Alexa and Axel. Frowning slightly, he shook his head and walked over to the door, pulling it open. "Axel! ( GoldenSlime GoldenSlime ) Ill give you a ride to school. If you'd rather not walk," he offered, smiling a bit to the other guy. It had been a whole year since Ryan had developed feelings for the other male, but he didn't think Axel was gay at all. He certainly didn't act like it anyway. "If you want one, just come on in," he said, waving him into the house and glancing toward Alexa ( Billie Vehemence Billie Vehemence ). "There. He wont be your problem anymore," he pointed out, smirking as he glanced at the other male with amusement.

Ryan walked back into the house, hoping Axel would follow as he slipped the sandwiches into each lunchbox. He then grabbed the box of bagged chips form the top of the fridge, taking out a pack of Doritos for each of them to put into the lunchboxes. Ryan grabbed a bottle of Mt dew from the fridge, slipping it into his own bag. "You runts can buy the school milk, its cheap," Ryan said with a chuckle, handing the orange and blue lunchboxes to his siblings. "Backseat you two. Axel is sitting up front," Ryan said, slipping his bag onto his shoulder and leading them outside to his Chevy pick up truck.

"... Thanks, I guess?" The girl said, waving to Ryan, she continued to walk to school, a small smile on her face. She walked with a swagger, before thinking of asking Ryan something. Though, she'll leave it until she sees him again. Humming, she grabbed her phone and put 'Love Song For Jeffrey Dahmer' and began singing softly to it. Now, she isn't a serial killer, or even has serial killer like tendencies, not at all. Though, out of all of the serial killers she has obsessed over, several weeks, months, years of obsessing to near insanity, she has never, ever related to anybody, and now she does, sure it's not a 'good' thing, but hell. She takes some closure that she wasn't entirely alone, even if the only one who felt somewhat the same was dead.

Hiking her bag over her shoulder, she sat on the wall near the school, and pulled out a smoke and placed it in her mouth, and lit it with a flip lighter. She basked in being alone for even a split second, she blew the smoke out and just wiped at her eyes with her spare hand. Inhaling, she gave a last puff of the cigarette and chucked it in a trash can.

Nate watched his mother leave, before turning to his siblings. His lips were thinly pursed and he watched as Ryan filled his box with lunch. He probably wont eat today, however he didn't want to refuse. While this was happening, he wandered off back to his room once more, to grab a ring before he left. It was something he found out of a cereal box, but he did promise a friend to give it to him. He was an avid collector.

When Nate returned, lunch was finished being made and he grabbed the lunchbox, slipping it into his already filled bag, and darted towards the car. He enjoyed car rides, especially with his brother, so he was hoping that would fill him with delight again. He moved to the end seat, leaving room for Mila, and watched as Axel came as well. Now, Nate wasn't too familiar with the boy, however it didn't take much to see his brothers interest in the male. It was amusing, sort of, but Nate never really said much about it.

He waited until Ryan was in the car before leaning up. "I-I-I'm hanging with m-my friends af-fter school, I'll b-b-be home befo-o-ore dark." He stuttered out, quietly but enough for Ryan to hear, hopefully.

Axel looked at Alexa bitterly. "Whatever, emo bi-" he was about to swear but bit his tongue when he saw Ryan. He walked towards Ryan, passing Alexa and giving her a dirty look. "You think you like serial killers, pretty girl? You think murder is fun? Well everyone thinks I killed Jenny so you should love me," he growled at Alexa, sarcastically. His edgyness was overwhelming. He sighed, wishing he hadn't said what he did, and walked toward Ryan, quickly. He blushed, awkwardly getting into the car. "Th-th-thanks R-Ryan," he stammered, nervously.

Axel never liked cars. He felt like the whole world was racing by him in a car. He wanted to take him time and enjoy life while he could. But he didn't mind being in the car with Ryan. He was trying not to think about Ryan when he realized that he never said anything to Ryan about Jenny. He remembered what his mother had told him as a funeral one time; "It's rude not to say 'I'm sorry' even if you have nothing to be sorry for." He snapped himself out of it and looked at Ryan. "U-uh uuh..." For a moment, his lips wouldn't make the words, then he mentally slapped himself and said, "I'm so sorry for your lose." The cookie cutter condolence was not what he wanted to say. He wanted to say that he can't imagine what the Thompson family is going through, that he swears up and down he did not kill her, that he'd do anything to help them through this time and even hug Ryan and...maybe kiss him. Axel's face turned red, thinking about it. Why does my mind always come back to this...? he thought, embarrassed.

The school was in sight and Axel was anxious about starting another awful school day. He was just gonna be bullied and pushed around again, and be called a murderer. His Walkman was broken, no tunes today, that definitely wouldn't help him. He sighed, seeing the school get closer and closer.

Alexa simply blankly stared at Axel, her eyes dead and cold. "Oh, thanks, I guess? But you're missing a thing, buddyo. I've been fucking accused by my own mother of killing Jenny, so yeah, thanks. And also, no, no. I don't find murder fun, I just relate to my boy, Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer, is that a fucking crime?!" She yelled, her voice breaking, almost crying, she wiped at her eyes and pulled out another smoke. She hated this. She utterly, fucking hated this. She hated being called a murderer with no evidence, she hates relating to a disgusting human being, and to be fair, and is a decent gal. Just... odd. She noted the dirty look that Axel gave her. "Oh, Axel? Does anyone else know you're a flaming homosexual, or is that just me being a clever lil' thing?"

Her voice was gritty and had a large lump in her throat, inhaling, she rested her head in her hands and sighed heavily, her head pounded and just made her even more agitated, huffing, she placed the second smoke in her mouth and slightly burnt the cigarette, she coughed as she swallowed the smoke purely by accident.
She just chuckled at what Axel had said to her, she wasn't even fucking emo, the dumbass, if anything she was punk, kinda. An odd sense of punk, to her at least.
