Fantasy The Spirit Inside ~ Forest and Village

Constantines smile faded 'I know you wish it to be perfect, and it seems like you have made yourself quite the illusion of your perfect world, as I could not. I came to this realm often in search of happiness after my wife and daughter passed away, and it was a wonderful illusion for the time being...but I noticed it was all hollow and fake. I never argued with Nazumi, and Scarlett was always there, and she was young too...Not the commander of a great army or the Ruler of a new era after defeating her grandfather. Everything was the way I wanted it in my happiest memories but It did not make me happy and I did not belong' He explained, two smiling transparent women appearing behind him, one with red hair and a humbling look, clad in leather armor with similar runes like Kyngerzs, the other was a younger girl in her teens with copper coloured hair and a beautiful blue ballgown.

He sighed as they placed a hand each on his shoulders '
This place may seem wonderful and perfect but it isn't real Flint, deep in your soul you know it, and it is calling you to wake up. If you do not awaken soon you will slowly fade and you will never be able to return to the real world, and then you two will fade away until you are nothing more than a memory. I will not stay here any longer if that is what you wish of me, but once I leave I will not return to get you. This is your only chance so think about it for as long as you need.' The Mage explained as the women slowly disappeared.

Flint's feathers twitched as his face redden with rage. He breathed heavily as the trees of the forest began to slowly fade away into black feathers spinning around in a tree shape image. The Alpha watched in fear as the world started crumbling around them. Suddenly the chaos stopped and normalized when Flint started regaining his composure.

With a soothing sigh the bird said to the stranger,
"Even if this was all- f- fake... and I am actually dead, it's a hell of a lot better than your world! A world where the people you love can suffer and die. No, sir! I think I'm better off here with my friends. You are the one who needs to wake up! If you really love your wife and daughter you would do anything to stay with them forever! I- I don't want your WORLD!"

Flint's bulging eyes teared up. Why was he crying? His world was perfect. This stranger's world was the miserable one. He should be the one weeping! The forest began to fade into spinning feathers again along with the wolf.

"STOP!" shrieked the bird.

His reality returned to 'normal' the instant he finished yelling out.

"I think you're a little mixed up. You're coming to my home! I will show you my friends. And then you will see who's world is the real one!"

Flint grabbed Constantines' hand roughly and dragged him towards his mansion. Flint needed to resort balance to his world. No one was going to say his world was fake! That his friends were fake.

"COME!"

The Alpha followed behind them, bent over in fear.

Constantine followed the Bird as his world began to collapse in on him 'Yes, Pain is what separates our worlds, and believe me I did what I could for my wife and daughter, but they did not want the same fate that I have, the fate of being reborn after every death. Neither of them wanted to live eternally and once I find a way to rid myself of this burden I will join them in the other world, where we will live forever together and I don't have to create illusions of happiness and perfection. You will always feel hollow in this world, you will never again experience true happiness or the true thrill that is life. If you continue this Flint, your Perfect world will become your curse.' the mage continued to plant his seeds of doubt in the birds mind, this would eventually bring it tumbling down and force him out, he had sent the potion back to Kyngerz to heal the body completely to once again hold the birds soul.

@RP Marshall

Kyngerz returned to the table and sat down with the group "
Constantine should be finished soon, he is quite persuasive when it comes to things like this. Let us order a roud of drinks and toast to our dear friend Flint, and the man who will return him...and then we can get to the matter at hand, this being the name of course. If it is really that powerful I fear that it may be able to overwhelm us all." the Palsiet said casting a slight glare at Shmendrick.

Lena looked at the bird's body, as she smiled lightly, slowly standing up

"Thank goodness he's back" She exclaimed, looking at everyone

"As for the Name.... is it really that powerfull? We didn't see the outcome of the battle. By "We" I mean Lila and me" She exclaimed, slowly putting her one hand on Flint's body.

Rex sat up slowly and groaned, starting to feel the hangover hit his head. "Damn, what a night,," he muttered to himself groggily, then looked around when he realized that it was dark. Reaching out blindly, he pushed the lid of the dumpster open and slid out, falling to the ground. "Damnit,," he muttered, shielding his face from the bright rays of sun that bombarded him. Perhaps he had a few drinks too many, because he wasn't exactly sure how long he was out for. Carefully getting up, he blinked his eyes, then stared in surprise as he realized that the town looked like it had been struck by a tornado. "What the hell did I miss?" he said to himself in amazement, walking into the street to witness a few people repairing their shop. "Ugh,," he moved back, his head ache growing worse in the sun. Stepping into the shade of the alley, he proceeded behind the buildings, then tripped when he turned a corner. Barely catching his balance on time, Rex looked down at the dead woman. "Something horrible must've gone down,," he muttered to himself, staring at the dead body with dilating eyes. He was sober now, and his ancient hunger began to manifest itself.

Yanking Constantine away from the bird's make believe forest, Flint lead them to the bottom of the hill where the majestic mansion stood proudly on the cliff. They first went to the wizard's cottage where all of the animals, including the old wizard's house cat, were scampering in front. The front door of the cottage opened up and out stepped the wizard with the Alpha's son. The wolf's son sprinted to its parent and licked it's face in greeting. The Alpha cheerfully smiled at its son, content that Constantine's words, about its son being dead, must have been 'false'.

"See!" Flint shouted at Constantine. "The wolf's son is very much alive!"

"Flint?" the old wizard called out with a merry smile, "How's my favorite bird doing today?"

"Prefect!" Squawked Flint as he gave Constantine a snarky glare. "How are the experiments going?"

"Listen for yourself."

The wolf's son suddenly spoke in the human tongue, no longer in its guttural wolf voice.

"Father! I can speak! Isn't it wonderful?"

Flint chimed in saying, "It certainly is wonderful. Now you can speak to Lila @Kry in her own language."

"Who is the stranger?" asked the wizard, now noticing Constantine.

"Just a confused individual, I'm going to take up to my home for dinner. Once I let him see how happy my friends are he will leave! Isn't that right Grand Mage Constantine Feeblis?"

Flint repeated Constantine's title in the most condescending tone he could utter.

Constantine frowned at the old wizard, he had met the man before and he gave a slight sigh "So you never did change your path in experimentation on animals...many poor helpless creatures where tortured at your hand including this crow as well, despite his pure will to reject any negativity from his life. I am indeed glad you works where put to an end....And yes, I will leave once I have seen with my own eyes what False world of perfection Flint has created for himself." the Mage said, his frown staying in place until he had an idea, one that may work in convincing the crow.

He cleared his throat and smiled "
It certainly seems like a wonderful place, perhaps I could show you my ideal world after? Just as a sign to show you how different our views are on perfection? As a final sign of my truce, and afterwards I will return to my real world and you may stay here forever without anyone ever bothering your perfection again. How does that sound?" he said his smile real and sincere as ever, hoping the Crow would take him up on his offer

The wizard stepped back from the mage, perplexed at Constantine's accusing comments. The old man looked at Flint for reassurance.

"I'd ask that you keep your dishonest fairy tales to yourself!" the bird said with a sharp hiss. "Stop feeding my friends your lies or I'll get angry!"

Flint's brow clenched together as the stranger spoke about taking the crow out of his perfect world.

"I have no interest in a fake world where we only suffer! That world could never exist. Who would want to live like that! Oh no, I think my friends and I are better off here."

Flint guided the mage up the hill, into his house. Inside, the birds friends were seated around the dining table, awaiting their friend's return. They smiled tenderly at the crow as they remained still as stone in their seats. The dinner table was filled to the edge with the juiciest bugs imaginable. Flint smirked, assure that his ideal world was the real out of the two.

"You see!," Flint said to Constantine, "Look! These are my friends! There's Rex @Knightling ; he refuses to go adventuring because he does not want to be apart from me. Over there is Lila @Kry ; she calls me pretty bird! Right there is Kyngerz; he would give his life for me even though that is unnecessary here in the 'real' world. The kind young elf here is Lena @JJKab ; even if some one was wounded, which is highly unlikely, she can heal it!"

Flint then looked at his best friend Belisair @Delacare .

With joyful eyes Flint said,
"That's Belisair the Slyph and I'm his Good Egg. He's mine... and I'm his! If I was to die, he would travel to the ends of the earth and slay any horrible monster to save me. He always thinks of me and would never- never forget about me!"

The crow's eyes watered as he spoke. The Mage's beliefs could not be true! The world was perfect. No evils could exist in it. How dare he try to spread his lies to him and his friends!

"My life is perfect. All my friends love me! And YOU! You want me to leave them? Go to your world where they could die? Die like your wife and child?! You are a horrible person! You don't love your family the way I love my friends! You're a damn FOOL! You're family is better off without YOU!"

Flints body trembled as made himself believe that he was right and the mage was wrong. His beak was drenched in painfully hot tears as his eyes became bloodshot red. His friends began to morph into hovering feathers as the crows mind weakened.

"You do not belong here! Why don't you just leave and return to your flawed world? I'm- happy... in mine! *sob* Damn YOU! ...Oh- gods! Damn it!"

{Have to go. Be back in 7+ hours}

Constantine followed the crow and remained silent, listening to his words. It was indeed a perfect world, but he was close to victory, Flints world was beginning to collapse as his real self began to take control over his perfect world, this is where The mage would win, this is where he would use the insecurities of the crow and his hate towards the mage against him. He began to swing his arms, molding the world to his design at his will.

The world changed drastically, the duo now sat in a room in the cottage, an old man laying in a bed, pale and near death surrounded by the Two women who had appeared by Constantine earlier and Kyngerz, he smiled and slowly closed his eyes as his life ended. "
This is my perfect world Flint, A world where my life ends and I will remain dead for all eternity. You see, when I was younger I experimented with magic and alchemy, I discovered the key to rebirth and ended up killing myself in the process. Now everytime I am killed or die of age I am reborn at that moment, I am blown out the wall of my tower and land on the floor with damage only to my sanity. In my perfect world I die with those who Love me around. After growing old with my wife, seeing my daughter grow into the proud warrior she became in her life and living countless adventures I finally wish to fade away and spend time with my family in the afterlife, something that I will never experience till the day the world ends." The Mage explained, his smile remaining on his face as he showed the bird what he truley wished would come true, finally showing the bird his truest hopes and dreams which would of course never happen, hoping he could crush the birds mental barrier with this sign of true emotion.

Lena was quietly sipping her cup of water she ordered, as she looked around at everyone.

"So... How... Powerfull is.... it..?" She asked, tilting her head lightly. She did not want to say "The Name" since it would probably be badly received

Schmendrick sighed deeply. "More Powerful than you would ever know." He stopped playing his lute and the illusory tap dancing imps disappeared. "Does anyone know when the others will get back?"

@everyone

Kyngerz shook his head "I know not how long Constantine will take, and even if he succeeds, Bel and I need to speak with the Zephyr to return the birds body. Body and soul together will bring us to our final destination the temple in the forest, where an ancient artifact remains that will be able to revive our friend...At least that's what our dear friend Lena has been mumbling in her unconsciousness" he explained, ordering another ale as he waited for his old friend to return..

"This Constantine fellow is giving Flint's mind a beating! I can feel it. I might be able to enter the bird's mind one more time but I'll let this mage finish his battle first. If I enter now while Constantine's still there, I could cause Flint to go into a mental panic. Come on portal user! You almost have it."

Flint's realm was dwindling as Constantine's own images invaded it. The crow's head trembled as he saw his world transforming into nothing but black feathers. His 'friends' were disappearing all around him. All the perfections the bird had created were shattered. Everything was wrong. Flint needed to maintain control over his mind. The mage needed to go!

"Shut up! SHUT UP! You're ruining it! My world! I won't go back, you hear me! I don't care if it's all fake! I want to remain here. You will not take me back!"

Flint jolted forward and screamed curses up at the mage.

"In that world I- I was tortured for five years by that damn wizard and his minion! He cut my throat open and cast cruel spells just to keep me alive long enough to make me speak like a human. Then he was going to sell me like an object. I hated human's with a passion because of this- but... it wasn't a human that finally ended my life. It- was one of my own kind. That mad one-eyed wolf bastard did it. He cracked my body in his poisonous jaws! And that was only half the pain I had to deal with in my miserable life. Kyngerz told me a secret; he said not to tell Belisair @Delacare . I didn't know what to do. My mind was going mad with uncertainty! I was afraid of loosing my friends. Belisair and Kyngerz would have fought. They could have killed each other! I would have lost them both. But my cruel fate caught back up to me. I was the one that died... Pain and misery. That was my life... And nothing else."

Flint glared at the mage and bellowed out his final words, "Get out! Get out of my damn WORLD! Leave me here in peace! GO NOW!"

Flint's world trembled like mad. Everything was dark and empty. The bird was furious, knowing his realm was all a lie but Constantine would not take him from it. The crow would not again undergo the tribulations of life.

A warm smile crossed the mages face as he wrapped his arms around the bird end held him "They did fight, the zephyr and the ice dragon battled shortly before he subsided. I know your Past Flint, and as a magic user I really must apologise for what has become of magic these days. But you were finally free, free of captivity, free of fear. You learned to fly and fight and you found wonderful friends. Sure you can stay here and live in your perfect dream world. But I promise you will never be happy, and I must go report your choice to our mutual friends. Kyngerz will no doubt understand your choice, I'm not sure how Belisair, Lena or Lila will take the news though." The mage let the bird go and stood up, creating a portal back to the tavern, the group clearly being in view.

Opening one eye, Schmendrick looked towards Constantine as he appeared before the group. The bard's grin only enhanced as he took notice of the portal that had opened up as well. Schmendrick stayed in his seat but began to take mental note of the portal's characteristics. He also noticed the mist like realm from which the Mage had just returned from. Seeing the faint outline of a crow on the other side, Schmendrick waves and Freud squawks, beckoning the crow over.

Lena @JJKab , Lila @Kry and Kyngerz @KingsPlague , along with a stranger @Throne Trinity and a raven, were before the crow, beckoning him to return to the world of the living. The bird saw the Sylph @Delacare staring down at a pile of his feathers that had been left on earth. Flint lifted his wing and smiled at his friends as tears flooded his eyes. Maybe it was time to go back? Was the world really such a terrible place?

In an instant, the crow's overjoyed face turned into disgust. He could not go back!

"NO! I don't want to see them! Stop! Keep them away from me! I said I wouldn't go back!"

Flint fled from Constantine's embrace and his friend's smiling faces. The bird traveled deeper into the darkness of his own mind. Constantine would not be able to catch him here. No one would find him anymore! Staggering onward the bird's friends disappeared from view. The emptiness engulfed the bird. He was all alone now...

{Flint is going to need a few moments alone for suspense buildup. The wondering spirit will finish the job just before the Egg of Regeneration subplot starts.}

Schmendrick frowned as the bird disappeared from view and the portal was no more. "Hmm. Looks like your bird friend is still not ready to join the living." The bard turns to the group. "I'm sure he will snap out of it in due time, he seems like a clever one." Pulling his chair back from the table, Schmendrick sits back down at the table and begins to pluck at his lute and closes his eyes. "Is everyone here? I feel like were missing someone." The tap dancing ethereal imps return, floating into the air with each pull of a cord and then disappearing shortly after.

Constantine closed the portal as Flint made his decision of not returning, he held Lena back from running in and gave a slight smile "Worry not, for I have won this mental battle. We must now get ready for his Resurrection, his soul is stubborn but his will is far too easily broken. He will try to rebuild his perfect world now and be happy with his perfect images of you but it won't give him the same happiness as before. The seeds of doubt I have planted will have him back with us before sun up, so Let us hurry to the temple to retrieve the egg so we can make a tasty omelette! ...I mean, resurrect our friend." the mage said with a nervous chuckle, he had been using far to much mana recently, if he kept tapping into it he may lose his sanity again, which is sub optimal with the threat of The Name still at large,

Lena's eyebrows raised quite a bit, as he mentioned the omelette.

"Wh.." She mumbled, but nodded as his second statement, turning to the rest of the group. She slowly approached the chair she was sitting on, and sat down on it yet again. After a while, she laid her arms on the table, and buried her head in them, trying to yet again contact the wandering spirit

"Hello? Spirit? Flint?" Her voice sounded a bit more cheerfull than usual, but it was a bit worried.
