Fantasy The Spirit Inside ~ Forest and Village

Lila's heart skipped a beat for a moment when Belisair's eyes opened and he asked that question. She felt a heavy weight in her chest, and slowly she pulled her hands back from the Sylph's face. Lila scooped up the bundle of feathers very gently, delicately in her hands, for a moment she held them against her chest. Against her heart, then she held them to Belisair, her eyes shimmered, as if she might cry but Lila held the tears back for Belisair's sake. "...Gone..." The Yuan-ti's body was tense, not sure what to expect, not sure how Belisair might react. "...T-there was a d-dragon of ice....a-a-and your wind s-seemed to be...possessing you..." The words were hesitant, uncertain. Though these were the things she had seen, she still didn't quite understand all that had happened.

Rex stared up at the looming figures before him, then took a step forward as he reached out in confusion. Before he was able to touch them, everything around him faded away like smoke, then he was brought into the waking world. Looking around, he gathered his bearings for a moment before sitting up. "What the hell,,," he muttered, trying to remember what had happened to him, but his memory continued to fail him. "Maybe I should,," he looked around, trying to figure out how he got separated from the group. Now he came across a worse problem, he had trouble remembering Who the group consisted of. Unbeknownst to him, amnesia had struck his mind yet again.

"Oh there you are Flint. I was beginning to worry about you. You gave me quite the scare."

Belisair smiled at the bundle as if nothing was wrong at all.

"Lila, where's Kyngerz?"

@KingsPlague @Kry

Lila stared at Belisair, that wasn't how she had expected him to react, even though she hadn't been sure how he'd react, she knew this was not a normal reaction. She pulled the bundle of feathers back to her chest, bending forward, curling her body around those feathers almost protectively as she sat on her knees beside Belisair. The air was all wrong, everything was all wrong! Kyngerz wasn't here, but shouldn't he have been? A large dragon appearing out of nowhere like that seemed like the type of thing that might attract the large man's attention.

Slowly Lila looked at Belisair,
"I....I don't know where he is.." Was he gone like Flint as well? Or perhaps he was just in another part of the forest, or still at the Inn. The Yuan-ti stood, still gently holding that bundle of feathers close to her heart, she turned her back to Belisair and now let the tears fall. Her body tensed, and her shoulders trembled a bit as he tried to hold it in. That head tilted down and she let her tears fall on the bundle of feathers, as if the Yuan-ti's tears could bring him back. Unfortunately, there was no magic in the tears of a Yuan-ti and least of all Lila's.

"Now now, don't cry. I'm sure he show up eventually. I come to learn that he tends to only show up when he's needed."

Belisair was completely missing the true reason for her tears.

"We should just head back to the Inn and wait for him to show up. He might even be there now. You can carry Flint if that would make you feel better."

Belisair stood and started walking towards Thoranhall without looking back or noticing the rather large brown splotch that had been laying close to him. It was as if he had forgotten all recent events.

"Come on Lila. You too Lena."

Schmendrick was having a stroll through a lovely patch of wood. Freud sat on his shoulder comfortably whistling a tune while the magician strummed along on his loot. The two had been on a search for their next adventure when a shady merchant man from a the last town they were in, had told them of a small town in the forest known as Thoranhall, which apparently was always in need of adventurers. This of course worked out for the travelling magician as he too was always in need of adventure. So there he was. Schmendrik the magician and his cohort Freud the Raven, traveling through the wood.

It was at this time, when the two companions where making their music, that they saw it. From about a mile ofa sudden and very large figure appeared. It was easily as tall as a mountain, and as thick as one too. "Hmmm... What do you think Freud? Friend or Foe?" Schmendrick seemed to contemplate this for a moment, stroking his chin, when Freud gave an annoyed squawk. "Right! Probably a foe... Either way we should check it out. Come now my fantastically freaky feathered friend! Let us go slay a dragon!" With a few particular notes strummed from his loot, two blue ethereal flames began to dance at his feet. They launched him into the air and Schmendrick began to run through the open space. Freud, who was not at all ready for these actions, fell of his perch and had to fly in order to catch up with his friend.

As Schmendrick ran flawlessly through the open air, he noticed that the wind currents were acting strangely. It seemed that the Dragon was already fighting something and the two were locked in epic battle. As the magician got closer the battle, disappointingly came to a close.
No matter I shall congratulate the victor! Schmendrik continued to run towards the battle field, Freud flying tirelessly behind him. Once they reached where the fight had gone down, Schmendrick noticed a group of people gathered. With a couple more strums of his loot, the ethereal flames dissipate and gently set him down next to the group. "Greetings hero's! I must say I'm quite impressed that you all were able to defeat such a large foe in such a short time." As he says this he notices one of the shards of ice, examines it and then puts it in an enchanted vial for latter study. He then turns his attention back to the crowd noticing for the first time their somber expressions. "Hm, jeez did somebody die. You guys ar kind'a bumming me out..." Freud squawks in agreement. "Oh I know how about I play you all a song! That usually cheers people up!" Schmendrick looks around the group with a big smile on his face, completely oblivious to the tragedy that had just occurred. @anyone else I missed

Lila did not move when Belisair spoke and began heading off himself. "No!" Her voice sounded tiny, thick with tears, but it was firm and she lifted her head to stare at the back of Belisair as he had moved past her. Tears still trickled down her face, and her lips parted so that she could speak again, when a stranger approached them from the sky. Lila's bottom lip trembled and her body shook a bit. This was too much. Everything was wrong and overwhelming and Belisair was acting as if nothing had happened. Now there was a stranger to deal with.

A stranger with a pretty black bird. A noisy sob left Lila's throat before she could stop it and she clutched Flint's bundle of feathers tighter to her chest as she began to move away from the new person. When the newcomer asked if someone had died, Lila glared daggers at him, which was a feat in itself. Lila was generally incapable of looking at someone like that.
"Y-yes!" She shouted the word in response, more tears falling. "M-my friend....and Lord Belisair's friend...he's gone...a-a-a-and Lord Belisair d-doesn't even n-notice!" That dagger filled glare had shifted from the stranger to Belisair, but the expression had changed. To an expression of pure hurt and confusion. Lila didn't understand why Belisair was being this way.

Hesitantly, she held the bundle of feathers out for the others to see.

@Delacare @Throne Trinity

Belisair turned and faced the visibly upset Lila and the newcomer. He had been in a good mood after finding Flint. I was slowly dissipating.

"Stranger you arrival seems to have upset my ward. Care to explain your business here? Stop glaring at me Lila, it's annoying, and I've done nothing wrong. Honestly, i f you're worried about Kyngerz, don't be; he's a big boy and can take care of himself."

Once again paying no attention to her comment about Flint.

@Throne Trinity @Kry

"Oh dear." Schmendricks voice shifts from that of amusement to one of a more concerned variety. "I see how unbelievably rude of me..." You can see that this stranger that has appeared before you who a second ago had a loot in hand has quickly tucked it away into his coat. "My condolences. I'm terribly sorry to hear that you have lost someone so close to you." Schmendrick gives an extravagant bow and turns to Belisair. "I am Schmendrick the magician! Last of the Red Hot Swamis and Master of Funkromancy! Though I'm sure you've heard of me." Schmendrick comes out of his bow his face still solemn. "Again I am terribly sorry for your loss." The magician eyes the bag that Lila held onto. "Was that you dearly departed?"

@Kry @Delacare (OOC: You probably have never heard of Schmendrick even though he claims he is revered.)

((Believe when I tell you i wasnt planning on knowig of Dricky. I'd rather let the mystery unfold))

"I am Belisair. i have never heard of you nor your 'Red Hot Swamis', and I would thank you both kindly to stop referring to Flint as if he were dead. He's just tired; we been really busy recently."

Lila took a step back, from both Belisair and the man with the long name. She had certainly never heard of him, but that meant little, there were a great many things and people Lila had never heard of before. Those things weren't important, what was important was how Belisair was acting, and Lila had no idea what to do, so she gave in to pure instinct alone. If she was punished for it later, then so be it. Clutching the bundle of feathers in one hand, pressed against her chest, she practically stalked up to Belisair.

There was fury and pain and confusion in her eyes, and her body was tense. With her free hand, she drew it back and slapped Belisair across the face as hard as her delicate frame would allow her to. It stung her hand and she stepped back immediately, still crying, but now she also placed that stinging hand over the bundle of feathers, and cupping the feathers gently she held them out for Belisair to look.
"Open your eyes and look! Stop ignoring things! Stop..Just...STOP!" She had practically yelled those words, her bottom lip trembled and she staggered back a few more steps before collapsing to her knees.

Lila was terrified. She didn't know what to do, but sometimes a slap to the face could get someone out of shock, however she didn't even know if Belisair was in shock. She felt like she might be though.

"Never heard of me! NEVER HEARD OF ME OR THE RED HOT SWAMIS!" Schmendrick scoffs while Freud rolls his eyes. "I, Schmendrick, have conquered titans, completed legendary trials and literally danced with the devil (who by the way is quiet the funky fiend). I've battled dragons, saved maidens and conquered an island of ogres!" He looks at Belisair waiting for something to click. When nothing does he lets out a sigh. "Well, no matter. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I wi-" Schmendrick is stoped mid sentence as Belisair's compatriot stepped forward and slapped the boy in the face. Schmendrick takes this time to take a look at the pouch of feathers. Seeing that their friend, what ever he was (a crow maybe), was most definitely dead he gives a questioning glance to Belisair. A look of realization crosses Schmendrick's face. With devilishly sly grin Schmendrick raises a hand to the boy's forehead and a bright light appears for a second before disappearing. He lowers his hand and his grin grows into a smile. "Oh ho this is interesting!" Noticing the girl beside him still grieving the smile quickly fades. He clears his throat. "Sorry it's not everyday I get to find a memory block on a stranger." @Kry @Delacare

Lilia looked at the ongoing conversation, and when she saw bundle of black feathers... She knew.... Flint was dead. When Belisair started to behave like he didn't remember anything, Lena was a bit annoyed. How is that, you saw your friends' death and now you don't remember it? It was then when Lila literally laid a slap on Belisair's cheek. Lena stepped back a bit, suprised, but when the girl fell down to her knees, she kneeled down next to her, laying her hand on Lila's shoulder, looking apologizingly at her.

"I'm..... Sorry... About your.... Loss" She said quietly

Well his good mood was gone; ruined.

Lila had slapped him. He never thought she would be so forward towards him, at least not so soon.

"I am perfectly aware that you THINK Flint is dead Lila. You don't have to hit me, and I would thank you kindly to never do so again. Am I understood? Good."

He thought of the Yuan-ti as his charge, as such, he would not tolerate such willful insubordination.

@Kry

He turned to the strange fellow who had just touched his forehead.

"I am in complete and total control of my mind and memories. I do not appreciate you inviting yourself to assail my person, mortal. I do not trust you."

@Throne Trinity

"Lena please come collect Lila, while I deal with this 'Schmendrick' character. It would seem the poor girl is out of sorts."

@JJKab

Belisair looked at the grinning "legend" with barely contained annoyance.

"Your tales of glory are quite amusing, but I find it hard to believe you capable of such feats. Most likely you killed an already dying titan, danced with a pathetic 2nd circle devil, saved a single old woman, and conquered and island of ogre-turtles."((ogre-turtles are bigger than an average man with a face that looks like an oni mask, hence the name))

"The thing I find hardest to believe i that you've fought dragons, when true dragons have not been seen in this world for..."

He paused and ticked his fingers in actual counting.

"5,675 years, 82 days, 2 hours, 27 minutes, and 7...8...9... 50secs."

Lila had flinched slightly at Belisair when he spoke over never slapping him again, she hadn't been sure what to expect. A violent reaction would have been better than this. Her arms went limp, dropping the bundle of feathers, and the feathers scattered all around in front of her. She wrapped her arms around her torso, hugging herself tightly, Lila barely noticed as Lena approached. She was trying to focus on Belisair's words.

Her heart nearly stopped for a moment when the Sylph mentioned there were no dragons, not for a long time. She stared up at him, wide-eyed and an almost horrified expression on her face.
"I...I....I just s-saw you f-f-fight a dragon..." Lila glanced at Lena, before almost collapsing against the other girl. Her green eyes still on Belisair, and tears were still falling down her cheeks. "I-it was l-l-l-like a mountain....I-icy and f-frightening..And!" Lila jumped up suddenly, nimbly leaping over the scattered feathers as she darted for the brown splotch that Zephyr had left at Belisair's feet.

Lila scooped it up quickly, and whirled around to face Belisair.
"This! I-it l-left this, a-a-after you w-won..and...and the wind! The WIND! I-it left!" Lila very slowly, very hesitantly approached Belisair, holding that brown splotch out towards him. She glanced at Schmendrick for a moment, for only half a heartbeat did she wonder if his claims were true, but right now she really didn't have time to think about that.

Lena was just lost in words, looking at the splouch. She looked at Belisair, and wondered.

""could he have something to do with amnesia" She thought to herself.

Schmendrick gives a smile. "You mean you haven't seen a true dragon in 5,675 years, 82 days 27 minutes, and 50 seconds. And for that you can thank me." He crosses his arms looking triumphant. "Any who we can discuss my thrilling antics, adventures and anomalies later. Right now though I would like to focus on you. You say you are in complete control of your mind but I find that rather doubtful." Schmendrick begins to eye Belisair up and down and circle him. "Uh huh, yes yes. Okay." He stops circling the Sylph and nods approvingly. Just then Belsair's grieving cohort jumps up and begins ranting about the dragon the boy had just fought. So it was him who ended the icy beast. Hmmm. Curios.

"If I may interject young lady."
He says referring to Lila. "But it seems something has put a spell on this young lads mind in which case I can try and remove the enchantment. That or he has contracted a brain parasite." Schmendrick whips out a dagger and looks Belisair dead in the face. "In which case we must begin surgery immediately." @Kry @Delacare

((You just want to make me to break the poor girl don't you @Kry?))

Something flashed in Belisair's eyes as she dropped "Flint", and he snapped his fingers and held out his hand as the scattered feathers were gathered and bundled by the wind, then placed into his hand. It looked as if it had never been dropped. He then placed the bundle in Flint's sling.

"That is enough Lila. These wild stories of yours are getting out of hand. I don't know why you dropped Flint like that or why you're holding that strange brown thing, but I have heard enough. You clearly aren't ready to manage yourself, so I will do it for you. Stand beside me and be quiet. I'll deal with you when we get back to the Inn."

He then turned and looked at the smug human with the dagger. This one was a rather bothersome mortal. There was only one way to disprove these supposed claims of heroism.

Belisair reached into an impossible pocket and pulled out a small enchanted wand. Pointing straight at the magician's head, he cast a simple spell.

"Righeet Thorou, Mystic Arrow."

Schmendrick quickly pulls out his loot and strums a chord, the magic projectile seems to be disrupted and vanishes. The magician wipes his brow, clearing away some imaginary sweat. "Whew! That was a close one, you should watch where you point that you could have shot me... Did you just try to shoot me?" The magician gets into a "battle stance" and holds the loot tightly and at the ready. "Look brother, I mean you no harm. I'm merely an adventurer here to help. There is something in your brain that shouldn't be there and it appears to be blocking out all memories of your fallen feathered friend. Let me help you." Freud squawks loudly breaking the tension between the two. "Oh right! I forgot! I might be able to help you with the whole dead friend thing as well... Maybe. The magic is kind of experimental so it might not work but if you let me help you guy's I might be able to do just that." Schmendrick looks towards you all with true passion in his eyes. @Kry @Delacare

(Schmendrick is hilarious. Anywho, don't worry about Lila, she doesn't break easily, but apparently Bel does lol.)

Lila jolted, flinching as if Belisair had backhanded her himself, eyes wide, full of fear, sorrow, and hurt. She had thought he was her friend, but he was refusing to listen to anything, and she had no idea where Kyngerz was, but she felt certain he could help. It hurt that Belisair could think that she would make up something like this. She had never lied to anyone before, why would she start now? Even if she did start making up wild stories, they probably wouldn't even compare to what had already happened.

The Yuan-ti didn't want to stand beside Belisair and be quiet, she didn't want to, but she did it anyway. She had already slapped him, hard, things would only be worse if she didn't obey. Her body trembled, and she refused to look at the Sylph, instead she watched Schmendrick, he seemed extremely strange, and his behavior was only aggravating Belisair and making things worse. Lila didn't dare tell either of them to calm down, though she really wanted to, instead she held that brown thing tightly, covered by both hands and pressed to the center of her chest for safe keeping.
