Yeah, I do that too, which is why I dropped that little Switch short story the other day, lol. If it's not important though, I kind of like the unpredictability. Like, most of the time the hints fall through the cracks, but when someone actually does get it and follows along it's like such an exciting moment! Kinda like when you drop little foreshadows and breadcrumbs in your own stories and some reader comes along and makes a comment about it and you just want to hug them and be like, "YOU GET IT! I LOVE YOU!" Lol, it's very rewarding.

Awe, I didn't want to play the spy game, lol. I honestly preferred not knowing so I was intentionally not looking for the hints. Without going back to actually pay attention to that specifically (I was pretty much just trying to keep track of everyone for the sake of knowing how to steer Q around--things shift so quickly in this game!), I would say either EV or Jess.

A) Maybe I just don't remember it, but I don't recall ever seeing her actually call up Kace to say they were coming, which would mean she would've had to set that up ahead of time.


B) She got a lil defensive about....David? I think? badmouthing the spy when they were in the car.


C) She was really quick to shoot down the idea that Q could be the spy, like without a hint of a doubt


D) All her sudden talk about being lonely even though she's in a situation where she's put herself closer to everyone than she was even in the apartment complex--can't get much closer than cramming everyone in a cabin in the middle of nowhere. Being lonely in a situation like that generally means she's feeling like an outcast/like she doesn't belong anymore.


That's just stuff I remember without going back to look. If it's not her, you've done a good job of drawing attention to her in a way of throwing at least me off the trail of whoever else it might be.

Not that anyone is asking me, but on a serious note...

I don't think the spy would be Jess. It would be very interesting if she was, but this line makes me lean more toward the spy not being her:

Her heart sank. No. Nononono. They were lying. It had happened a few times with her father, where they said they knew where BC was, wanting to have them surrender. She couldn't handle something else.

There's also the absence of a motive. I can't see any reason why Jess would do that to Black Cat.


Right now I have it narrowed down to the people that were in the Toyota: Jess, Ria, Dakota, EV, Alex, Erika, Q and David. Obviously, being David's player, I have him off the list and it doesn't seem like Q as well due to what Kade has been saying OOC.


So that leaves Jess, Ria, Dakota, EV, Alex and Erika. It's still quite a lot left to pick from, but I'm taking Alex out of the possible spies due to him badmouthing the spy. It could be acting, but I still don't think that it's him cause I saw no hints whatsoever in any of Der Eine's posts that would indicate this). Same goes for Dakota--I see no indication in any Dakota posts that would make me believe he was the spy.


Which now leaves Jess, Ria, EV and Erika as options. I don't think it's Ria though, mostly because of this line:

Ria dropped the phone in her lap, her eyes wide at what Jess had said.
"No," she said sadly.

She was upset by Jess's order of releasing their identity. If the spy was ordered by Jess to release everyone's identities, the spy would be more angry rather than sad.


I'm crossing out EV as well because of this part:

It wasn't him. But why? What evidence was there? No. She didn't know the whole story, nor did she really care about this kid. Still...
She turned to Q, "I don't th-"

EV doesn't know the whole story, I think that pretty much clears up her name in my opinion.


All that leaves would be Jess and Erika.


It could be Jess. This line...

"Alex, if it is someone, you likely know them. I suggest you don't speak ill of the one who did it, if someone did try to give us away. They might be in this car."

could either be Jess being defensive, like Kade said, or Jess simply hinting to everyone that she already knows who it is and that the person is in the vehicle with them. This is also part of the reason why I think the spy is in the Toyota.


Then there's this:

"Yeah, yeah. There was a threat that someone in BC was giving off information in exchange for a shorter sentence

Which implies that Jess is aware of the agreement between the law enforcer peeps and the spy. Who would know something like that other than the spy? (unless of course, Jess overheard it from the news that was playing when Ria called; but I don't recall that being stated there, if it was then this is obviously invalid xD )


But then, there's this line:

Jess is evidently very upset by the news that there could be a spy among them. If she was the spy, I don't think this would be her reaction. It wasn't a faked reaction, if it was then it makes no sense in my opinion since it was an internal reaction. There's no reason to fake an internal reaction since other characters wouldn't know about it (except if they're a mind reader, but no one here is that).


And then there's Erika. I have to admit, when I first said that it was probably her that was the spy, I had nothing to back me up but a gut feeling. But now, after looking back there's this one glaring line that greatly hints Erika as the spy:

She narrowed her eyes, and sent back, I don't know. Now's really not the time. I'll contact you tomorrow with more.

This part is very fishy and sounds very much like something the spy would do.


There's also this little thing:

listening to the conversation around her, and smirking a couple of times

The conversation that was going on prior to this post was the one about Q opening up the possibility of him being the spy which was later dismissed by Jess. Now who would smirk at this topic other than the spy? It could be that Erika was smirking at how EV squashed Dakota's flirting attempts, but if the wording doesn't add up in my opinion. 'smirking a couple of times' indicates that she smirked more than once. It was only once when EV said something to stop Dakota from flirting so that means that Erika smirked at something else other than that.


tl;dr, I still think it's Erika.


It could also be David and I'm just saying all this to incriminate someone else xD

I agree that it's not Jess. She is the leader of Black Cat, why would she betray her 'family'? Plus, if she indeed is the spy then the plan where Ria is to release their identity to public should never exist (Or at least that what i remember, might need to reread the few last pages again)

@Nyxione That's a damn good guess. I would've never thought about it. It also explains why she got so cold when she caught herself talking about being so happy all the time. Or that could've been her not wanting to get close to anyone.


She could also be talking to a friend. Reword it, and it sounds like this, "I don't know. I'm really tired, okay? I'll talk to you more tomorrow." She just said it in a weird way.


Also,

It was Alex who badmouthed the spy.

I think @Kade means that Jess got defensive about badmouthing the spy.


But yeah, good point @too much idea. She's called BC twice now(maybe) a "family." So did Ria.

Also, I'll be dropping fake hints from now on, since you guys seem to pin my characters down ^^ Don't blame you. Dakota's a prime example of how vicious they are. What a savage.

Just from what Jess had said to Alex right here:

I needed a way to prune out characters and that seemed to me like a hint. Even if I was wrong and that wasn't a hint at all, Charlotte et. al who are riding in the Phantom don't seem to be the spy either. You've mentioned it before in the OOC that the person playing the spy was doing a good job at dropping hints. For a player to drop good hints, there would be a need for posts. Pandana hasn't posted since Mira got to the party which was a bit before their identities were released so I'm counting Mira off immediately. Aes, Thanatos and too much idea have been posting, but not as much as those with characters in the Toyota since they were all still waiting for pandana / Mira. Besides, I don't really see anything in their posts that may indicate a spy among the four of them. The same goes with Pyro's Ellis.
