Good thing I asked; I was pondering some sort of intelligence specialist/spy/info broker, but it those roles have already been spoken for. Perhaps a soldier of some sort? Or an Immaculate Monk.

I have been doing some work on an archer concept, but he's coming along slowly. I'm probably going to write up a second character, a melee focused one, and compare the two to see which one speaks to me louder.

I have a good chunk of my swordsman done, but I am in need of some info on the artifact armor, weapon and hearthstone that I have. There is just not a whole lot of items to pick from already listed. Other than that, I just need to do a little bit more polishing and he's all set.

Yeah, the manuscript is sadly a little stingy in regards to Artifacts and Hearthstones.

Perhaps I can help somehow? Like, what sort of things are you hoping to do with the various parts of your panoply?

Artifacts are much easier to homebrew in Essence than in 3e. The game really expects you to make your own, I think, possibly inspired by the artifacts and hearthstones listed in other editions or even other games/fantasy settings.

Yeah, I'm definitely liking what I've seen of Jontom. In terms of integrating him into the hearth, I think the main things to keep in mind storywise are that the player characters are a satrap and her retinue, so the most logical step for me would be Jontom becoming a part of said retinue. One more thing to note is that I've currently got the other players battling a mutant tyrant lizard, after which I'm planning to have a timeskip to a year or so after the Scarlet Empress's disappearance. I'm thinking that Jontom could become involved at some point during that time; I'll leave it up to you to choose when.

On a related note, one idea I had based upon Jontom's past involvement with the Wyld Hunt was that he could be friends/acquaintances with an NPC of mine, Hasuri Karudo. He's a Fire Aspect from the Cadet House that currently rules Kandara, and he's also a dedicated member of the Wyld Hunt. Perhaps Karudo could even recommend Jontom as a bodyguard or something similar to Kitava, based upon his past experiences with the man.

Sorry, this is a dumb question, but when you say "move" do you mean move as in movement or as in take your turn? This is probably in the combat section of the book and I missed it, I'm guessing.

Yup, he means we're all free to act (take our turns), in any order we please. You are, of course, welcome to move as part of your turn.

There's not much she can do from the other side of a pyroclastic inferno, and presumably Steelscale will be roasted in short order. Only Manato can stand in that thing without getting burned, so everyone else should probably get clear.

Kitava is going to back the fuck up and bow out. There's not much she can do from the other side of a pyroclastic inferno, and presumably Steelscale will be roasted in short order. Only Manato can stand in that thing without getting burned, so everyone else should probably get clear.

Steelscale's down to half his health; odds are he's going to try and run for it now. The rest of you should all have a chance to attack him again soon enough.

Yeah, hope it's not too disruptive to the group. I wanted this scene to demonstrate what it looks like when the commander can and does cut loose versus what it will inevitably look like having to defend territory. So a bit of excessive showmanship was intended. Perhaps the stories that get told back home will even boost morale or support for the new administration.

Excitingly, Ferala can still get involved since she can stay at Long range, and the lava is only in Manato-and-Steelscale's range band. She's hampered by having missed last round, but we can give it a go...
