10 power is the max, so building more wouldn't help much. Wow this thing is tough! Maybe Kitava should tag in Berengiere. We'll see how the others do.

Oh, right, the 'concentrated attacks' rule is Overwhelming but for Hardness, so each Withering attack lowers Hardness by 1 until a Decisive hits. So actually we should retcon things to let everyone else Wither before your Decisive so you hit harder.

Looking at the rules, Hardness here just represents the amount of Power you need to accrue before you can make a Decisive Attack against the thing in question, and Concentrated Attacks don't do anything against Soak, so I don't think redoing this attack round so that everyone could attack before Taeran would change much.

Regarding options for reducing Soak, there's a Reveal Weakness Gambit (drop Soak by 2 for a number of rounds) that any of you could theoretically pull off once you have 3 Power, otherwise Chowlett Chowlett and Ferela have Terrestrial Snake Form (Reduce Hardness and Soak of opponents with less power than you by 1) and Terrestrial Uncoiling Serpent Aura (Spend 1m on Step 3 of an enhanced Decisive attack to drop opponent's Soak by 3), and Rykon Rykon can reduce Soak by 2 once Manato's Anima is at Iconic. There's also Guard Breaking Technique (Halve Soak and round the result down), which I certainly don't mind giving to Nansho.

It's gonna take me a little time to get my head around this not-quite-like-full-fat-Exalted combat system, but I hope to do so later today. Are we good to post - the attack is completed after the steps 3-7 declare'n'roll, unless there's a counterattack?

Go ahead. I'm not planning to have Steelscale counter here.

Oh, right, I was confusing Hardness and Soak. Yup, more withering attacks won't do anything in particular. So I should have given the Power to Ferala so she could snake kung-fu it to death through its soak. Lesson learned.

Is your reading of Uncoiling Serpent Aura:

The Exalt may make unarmed or form weapon attacks out to short range, including clashes. While in Snake Form, extend this to long range. If the Exalt initiates a grapple with this Charm, they can immediately pull the grappled opponent into close range without needing to utilize the Pull gambit.
...that it's a permanent effect, or does it need to have 1 paid each time I attack at a range longer than Close?

Oof, I'll try and catch up soon. Having to deal with some work crunch before the end of my two weeks and a lot of new hire processes. Looking like I need to read up on Essence's combat rules a bit too.

I'd say that part at least is permanent. If you had to spend motes, I imagine it would say so in the description.

Thanks (although most charms just assume a 1-mote cost. I imagine they'll tidy it up in the final copy). Post edited - attack now declared.

The combat system is taking some extra time to grok for sure. I THINK because parts of it are so close 3e's system, but other parts are completely different. It's weird.

jaydude jaydude Done - I think that by matching Steelscale's Defence I get an automatic 1 Power, plus 3 as the minimum threshold successes due to Magistrate's Law's overwhelm rating?

Just checked. And yes, you get 1 power for matching the opponent's Defense, and Defense can't reduce the number of successes to below the weapon's Overwhelming rating.

So, having not gotten a reply from either D. Rex D. Rex or Rykon Rykon , I'm going to go ahead and skip you both this round. Apologies.

No its okay. I been looking at my character and keep trying to think of what I can do, but I just can't seem to get back into my character. I think it would be best for me to drop out and try again later with Essence. Sorry Jay.

It's fine. Hope you had fun anyway.

Everyone else, I presume you won't object to me bringing in Sherwood Sherwood as a possible replacement?

I'll have to do a bit of reading to be able to get into this, then.

I presume that this is still going with the premise of all Dragon-Blooded Exalts?

What kind of focus do we have with our current characters, so I don't recreate the wheel of someone else's work? What do we need?
