Fantasy The Pit [Started, Closed]

"It's happened before. Not against Cas, at least not as far as I can remember. It was before you were here, I think." Ivaylo frowned. "It happened to me once. Not a good day." He shook his head and moved closer to the window again, watching the other fighter. This would be quite the fight, if previous experience held true.

Kira sighed at his words. She was learning more about him... He was opening up to her. Her heart was beating like crazy... Clearing her throat, she went closer to the vent and whispered. "Do you think they're trying to get rid of Cas? Two against one is pretty hard, even for #1 over there..." She didn't want to voice her thoughts too loud in case the guards were listening and took offense to her words. They wouldn't take kindly to the fact that she thought Cas was strong enough to break out of here.

Tirana leaned onto the window where she observed the fight. She was situated in front of the arena where most of the high ranking fighters could see their competition. She pretty much bored with match so far, seeing that Cas hadn't done anything major yet, besides getting the crowd riled up, at which she promptly rolled both of her eyes. She felt the ground shake a bit as another chute opened up-- this type of thing not happening every so often. She fixes her posture slightly to see where it was coming from. Her body tensed at what the rank number was. "That sad-sap again? Against Cas and that other guy? ...really?" She sighed in disappointment. She had seen that guy fight before and he wasn't any better than most of the fighters here. She moved away from the window and towards the vent, losing interest in the fight right away until she heard anything interesting otherwise. She leaned into the vent, her chute next Kamiko's. "You believe this? They put THAT guy in the same ring... with Cas! Due express your thoughts on this!" She enthused, now amused at the notion.

"Get rid of him? Nah. It's all about the money. And he's worth a lot to the people who run this place. People like to see people like him, who have flashy powers. That's why stuff like shapeshifters and elementals like Cas are so popular." He stepped back to the vent. "When they put me in against two other kids, they were both shapeshifters like me. You should've heard the crowd..." He trailed off.

"I hear that crowd at every one of my matches..." She muttered, half to herself. "I guess I have one of those so called flashy powers." She said, sighing. Holding out her hand, she tried to call up the power. This close to the Pit, she could almost feel it... But no. The darkness didn't answer to her call and she sighed once more. "Have you ever seen one of my fights?" She asked suddenly, wondering if Ivaylo even knew who she was.

"I have. You cut it close. The crowd loves it. It always seems like you'll lose and your odds constantly change. I can hear the guards talking about it. Makes lots of money," Ivaylo said absently, unaware of how odd it sounded. He reached up towards the vent. "I wonder..." His fingers shifted and changed, becoming more like talons. He waited until the guards nearby had moved on, and then managed to pry the vent cover off. The rusty metal made a high pitched scraping sound and he winced.

Kamiko played with some dirt on the ground, shrugging at Number Three's excitement. "It's happened before. I'm not all that interested." She glanced out the window before looking down again. "Doesn't bother me, but that guy's gonna get smoked. Probably. Nah, for sure." A light snicker escaped her as Kami tapped a best out on the vent cover. "I'd say his chances of winning are about 1 in... 4000."

Her face felt warm... He watched her? He listened when the guards talked about her? Silly girl, she scolded herself, he probably does that for all of his competitors, don't think you're special! Her thoughts were disturbed by a screeching whine of rusty metal. Glancing up, she was shocked to find that the vent connecting their two chutes was now gone. "Ivaylo?" She whispered uncertainty.

Ivaylo straightened up and peered through the hole, green eyes glinting eerily in the dim light. He grinned. "Yeah? I've learned some good tricks. He held up his hand to show her before transforming it back into a normal hand. "A perk of being here for so long is being able to use your ability even while still in the chute," he said, indicating his eyes.

Tirana 'hmphed' from her side of the of vent, slightly taken aback by the indifference, but she was more amused at Kami's last comment and chuckled lightly. "Cold. But oh-so true. But then again, all he does is defensive attacks, he may last a little longer than what the others are expecting him to. Hèll, who knows, maybe he'll pull a shield out of his asś again and accidentally HIT the other guy. I would be on the floor laughing." Tirana laughed again.

Raising her hands, Kira concentrated once more but still nothing. Sighing, she let it drop. "I still can't do that." She muttered dejectedly. "Not as if it would help me out in this stupid chute anyway. At least with your powers, you can observe the fights a lot better. All I can do is turn out the lights." She said, a tone of bitterness present in her voice. Her power was evil, black magic. She hated it.

"Yeah, but you can disorient the other fighters. It helps. And don't worry. I've been here longer than you. And worked on it a lot." He looked across her chute, to the opposite wall. "Any clue who's next to you?" Ivaylo didn't know who had moved up in the rankings the previous day and he was curious to know who was gone.

"That kid who just got shoved into the arena is #30, and there's another new kid that's doing pretty good, but I don't know his rank." Kira said, glancing at the opposite wall as though it could give her answers. "I know there's a kid, #12, there was a lot of Buzz about them recently. Then of course there's the Five and Up club. They haven't changed recently at all." She snorted sarcastically at her own words. "Those bastards are so cold now... Its almost as though the more time we spend here the less human we become..."

Ivaylo snickered. "I've never been considered even vaguely human by the guards since they found out what I could do." As if to demonstrate, his eyes changed, becoming snakelike, then flashing to the bright yellow of an owl, before settling back on a cat's eye. "Freaky, huh?" He grinned. Other kids were usually freaked out by what he could do, and he often used it to his advantage.

Makaela sat criss-crossed on her cot, tuning out the sounds of the crowd to focus her strength. Apparently Cas was up against a newbie, and like all high-rank fighters like her, she could care less. It didn't matter how many of them you send at the guy he was gonna take em' all out, so what was the point? If only she had the chance to take him on, maybe then the crowd will be at least a bit quieter if she was rank 1. She pictured herself throwing bombs at the windows, exploding the windows and setting every greedy asśhole in that audience on fire. She smirked. But such as with life, dreams are just dreams, rivals are rivals. She had two other girls to deal with before she could reach her goal. Speaking of them, she could hear the echoes of laughter coming from one of their cells. She arose herself from her seated position and stormed her way to the vent. "Hey bïtch, can I invite you to shut up?" she growled into the vent before heading back to her seat.

Kami couldn't help a chuckle at Makaela's comment. She didn't have anything against the others; they talked in their cells and got along fairly well. She just wasn't in the best mood that day. "What's your power, anyway? Oh, actually, forget I asked. Surprises are fun, yeah?" A guard outside her chute yelled something at her about making a racket and she hissed a couple of obscenities at him, causing him to turn a deep shade of red with anger.

"I think it's really cool." The words were out of her mouth before she could stop them. Inwardly flinching, she glanced away from Ivaylo, sure that now he thought she was weird and more then likely crazy as well. Stupid, stupid, stupid! She chanted in her mind, feeling the urge to hit herself as her hands curled into fists. Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm down as she sneaked a look at the only man who made her heart race.

He shrugged. "I guess. It's easier to adapt to different opponents when I can change into anything I want." His expression changed, becoming wistful. "I think the closest I've ever felt to being free is when I can fly. I can't go very high though. But still... It's the most amazing feeling." His eyes were absent, clearly lost in the memory of the times he had been able to fly around the Pit.

Tirana's laughing subsided into giggles as she heard Cera protest. "Sorry girl, I won't be having what your having." She got up from her crouching position, suddenly interested in Kami's sudden interest in her respective powers. She continued to giggle as she told off one of the guards before replying. "I'm surprised you haven't heard of me before. I go by Lotus, you should know me by now." She scoffed with a hint of pride. The spectators found her to be very captivating and they often liked to stop by her cell. She secretly thrived off of the attention that she got.

"I know who you are, but I've never fought you, so I don't know your powers." This girl's haughtiness irked her beyond belief, but Kamiko buried the urge to criticize her out of indifference. "I only know Cas' powers cos there isn't anyone who doesn't. Most people don't even know my powers." She shrugged again and glanced up at the ceiling of her chute, which was browned from water stains.

Odd felt eager eyes on him, both from the spectators and the fighters. Cas and Harkin were doing their own thing and he felt kind of awkward just standing there watching the new guy go ham on the other one. He looked behind him and saw the angry expression of the guards by his chute. If didn't do anything now then he would probably suffer at their hands. And with that he found himself resorting to attack. He hesitated slightly before he gathered enough strength to stream purple electricity up and down his arm. He cringed slightly as he shot his hand out on the pillar Cas and Harkin were standing on. A stream of electricity shot out and exploded on impact, causing a large chunk of the base to crumble off. "S-SORRY!" He yelled suddenly as he saw the structure begin to tilt over.

Revan was leaning against his chute with eyes closed, contemplating when his fight would be. That was when the chute door just opened suddenly, and with because Revan was leaning against it, he fell backwards onto the arena. Revan heard the sounds of the many chute doors opening all around the arena.

Revan was confused, were they planning some sort of massive free for all? There was a huge rank difference between everyone here, ranging from rookies to veterans. It would be a hell hole to say the least. Revan immediately stood up and looked around him, readying his body instinctively for attack. In response to his instinct to defend himself, Revan's abilities began to activate. The whites of his eyes were quickly replaced by a pitch black shade with the veins in his eyes becoming more emphasized whiel retaining their crimson red color. His pupils changed to a shade of ominous, bright blood red with heavily contrasting black and thin pupils. Revan felt energy course through his entire body as his cells were becoming enriched, strengthening and slightly increasing his muscle mass. Revan took deep breaths, calming himself as he felt the usual buzz that emanated throughout his body with the influx of energy that came with his transformation.

Now Revan began to worry, his reputation was that of a berserk and merciless killer that did not hesitate at all to tear his opponents to pieces, and this was all because of a few matches where he was pushed to his absolute limit. No doubt some of these combatants would group up on him or focus him to take out a threat to their lives. Anticipating this, Revan pressed his back to the wall of the arena so that his opponents would have less angles to attack him from while Revan could maintain a better view of any attackers. If worst came to worst, he could produce his tentacle to defend. What Revan feared the most was losing his mind. He could not afford to do that in this arena with multiple combatants, as he would become such a pronounced threat that many high rankers would begin to focus him before he could strengthen his body to levels where it would be too late to defeat him.

In any case, Revan began to think of a battle strategy. He was rank sixteen, so rank fifteen would be right to his left while seventeen would be to his right. He knew who fifteen was but had no clue who seventeen was. This would mean that Revan would have to be more cautious to his right. In response, Revan began to shift more towards his left than his right, although not close enough that fifteen would be able to get a free hit on him. Revan now hardly paid attention to the center of the arena as the three combatants already engaged would not notice Revan and he also guessed that most of the people out of their chutes would head straight for the center, giving Revan even more breathing space. Revan wanted to not engage in combat as much as he could help it, and staying inconspicuous like this was his plan.

Kamiko blinked in surprise at the sound of her chute opening, but didn't question it. "Alright!" she exclaimed and sauntered into the arena, shivering as the familiar magical energy ran through her body. "This is more like it," she muttered before grinning. She hadn't fought this many people in a couple of years. "Ooh. A bloodbath. Hit me with all you got, rookies." After tying her hair up, she crossed her arms and leaned against the edge.

A lower rank charged at her, hoping to be the one to take her down. He wasn't older than sixteen, still sporting his baby cheeks. Despite that, he was muscular and would have been a threat had he been facing anyone else. Unfortunately for him, he wasn't.

Kami's eyes narrowed as a grin curled her lips. As expected, the boy wasted no time in strategy and flew at her with his fist. When he made contact, however, her skin turned to stone, sending a sickening crack throughout the room as the bones in the rookie's hand shattered. The audience cheered as the boy whimpered and slinked away to battle someone else.

Joel continued to watch the match intently, anxious to see who was to make the next move. He looked in even deeper confusion as his--along with everyone else's chute doors began to open up. He quickly grabbed both wakizashi and crept out of his cell to see what was going on. There was too many people to keep track of at once, and he didn't like the idea of having fight more than one skilled person at once. His whole body began to relax and his skin color turned pitch black. One by one a flock of Raven spurred out from the space where his head was until every part of him had become an individual one. The ravens flew upwards and to the center of the arena, high above the action. In this form he could see from multiple angles as he flew, so he took the opportunity to observe and plan out an attack on someone unsuspecting.

Cas felt himself start to topple over, falling down out of whatever was keeping him frozen. In a flash, he launched himself off the pillar as it crumbled to snow. He shot one blast of ice after another at the rookie who was attacking him, and landed in a haphazard roll near the edge of the Pit. Frosty clouds of soon-to-be ice built up in his fists, snaking up his arms and threatening to explode off his body. Cas braced for more attacks. What? Are they just letting everybody in at once? How are they going to have a winner? Is this a last-one-standing fight? I don't want to win against this many people. Or lose, or they'll think I threw it. Cas stood in confusion, braced to throw ice at whomever came within range. He'd have to revert to defense mode to avoid knocking very many people out, but that was okay with him. He steeled himself for another blow and stood firmly near the edge, waiting.

Val was pacing and turning anxiously in her chute, uneasy in the tiny space. When her chute shot open, she bolted out, catching her breath once outside. But something wasn't right, all the fighters had been released into the Pit. She supposed they'd have a free for all, but that didn't seem like something the fight lords would have them do. Maybe they had too many fighters and needed a clean sweep to get rid of some of the weaker ones. Whatever the reason, Val's eyes scanned the crowd, looking for somebody to face off against. Better to fight her way out than think it, even though the Pit was awfully crowded. It would be difficult to build up a big blast and get the space she needed.
