Unfortunately that's what she is use to now and so when Lucy Conor and James act tough with her they seem like the bad guys. That's not true at all. It means he respected her as an adult and didn't treat her like a mindless idiot. Sure she made mistakes, but she shouldn't be treated like she's below Conor and Lucy. Angel reckognizes that, like they don't.
