Alexandra Romano

Alexandra laughed when he said it was a scary thought "Yeah and she seemed nice and stable so it's a bit questionable" she bit her lip "but I suppose my mam married him as well, he does have charm" she commented as a sort of side thought.
Alex smiled as she watched the fireworks exploding in the sky and the colours which lit up after each one. "This would be the perfect moment to freeze time" she said clearly in thought "no drama, a beautiful sight and being here in your arms" she titled her head back so that she could slightly see him and gave him a soft smile before looking back at the sky. "I love fireworks, always have" she added.

Nicolo Romano
nick-jonas-instagram-1450433074-view-0.png

Nicolo laughed at junior's comment about him being grounded "like he could ground me" he teased "no I was supposed to meet up with someone but something came up and then Fallon arrived" he explained sending a smile towards his sisters direction. When Salvator commented on Alex being lippy, he couldnt help the chuckle that came out "Alexandra got even more argumentive and lippier the last year so she moved out" Nicolo explained "She doesnt really visit anymore but I'm sure she'll make an exception when she hears yous are here".
As Salvator and Juniper began to discuss Lunch, Nicolo heard the front door open followed by his father calling him. He raised an eyebrow as he heard the severity of his father's tone. Something had happened and he knew that it was something bad. The worry began to sink in and was only confirmed when he heard of Angels passing. Nicolo was in shock, he had no words to say and just stood there, mouth open staring at the ground as his father spoke. "Shit" was all he could manage to get out. Nicolo had known Angel for a good part of his life and considered the man a brother to him, as did Alex. He couldnt believe that Angel was dead, he was always so careful and well thought out in detail when executing plans, that Nicolo couldnt help but wonder where it all went wrong, unless he meant it to end this way. Nicolo shook his head trying to clear the thought from his head. "Are you ok?" He asked his father "and does anyone want a drink?" He asked as he made his way to the drink cabinet, god he needed something strong.

Chapter 18: The Opportunists
Saturday 13th August 1949
Late morning - Warm, Sunny, Blue Sky
...5 weeks later...

The previous night...

Vinnie had been having a couple of drinks with Jewels in her apartment. In the weeks following Angel's death, the Romano boss hadn't been himself, not even able to give Salvatore the kind of contempt he usually would have. Following the funeral, Vinnie slowly picked himself back up and started seeing Jewels again. In a way, the normality of dating had helped him out of his grieving. Meanwhile, his hatred for the Sullivans had helped him want to get back to business and he'd intended on bringing them down full force.

After saying goodnight to Jewels, Vinnie left her apartment and walked towards his car. By the time he noticed the vehicle parked across the street, it was too late. The masked man in the passenger side brought the gun into view and before Vinnie could react, a series of gunshots were heard and three bullets ripped into his abdomen. Within a few seconds, the assailants sped away in their car.

The Sullivan House
James Porter

jj.png Today was the second day James had been well enough to be back to his intense training, and nothing made him feel better than being back on his feet. The day before, he'd taken Peter with him for a drive around the Chicago, helping to familiarise him with the city. Whose business was whose. Which areas were neutral and which were to be avoided. By now Peter had also been given a lowdown on the key Romano players, including the newly arrived Salvatore Romano. As far as James was concerned, the man was as dangerous as Vinnie so he shouldn't be given the benefit of the doubt.

Peter had been told to meet James in the Sullivan driveway at 5am sharp where they proceeded to go for a long, tiring jog. After which, James let the kid rest in the house and grab some breakfast. Later in the morning, James then took Peter out into the large back garden where they were to do some circuits and strength training. It wasn't just that he wanted to put the poor lad through his paces, but James wanted to catch up with his own workout routine. What better opportunity to bond with Peter than this, right?

James looked over his shoulder as he saw Sinead still sunbathing by the swimming pool. She'd been pretending to read a book, but was clearly watching with amusement. "Ignore her, she's just trying to put you off," he told Peter. "How are you at self-defence?" he asked. He made it sound like it was a question out of curiosity, but Peter would know by now it was leading into more training.

In the back of his mind, James was also thinking about his visit to the doctor with Lucy later in the day. It was seeing Sinead with Savannah that made it difficult for him not to think of it. All that was missing from his and Lucy's lives now was a child and he was pretty excited by the idea.

Sinead Sullivan

1280_zoey_deutch_harpers_bazaar_03_silver_5083116_ver1.0.jpg The two weeks following Angel's death had been difficult for Sinead. In a way, she knew she'd been waiting for his funeral before she could feel any sense of closure. Three weeks ago, Sinead took Savannah with her to the funeral, not afraid of Vinnie during that time. She'd slipped into the ceremony and seated herself at the back of the room. Alex, Nicolo and even Vinnie himself had seen her there, but it seemed like on this day even the Romano boss put aside any ill feelings towards a Sullivan. The service had been well organised by Vinnie and Sinead felt like the goodness in Angel had been acknowledged. Regardless of the fact she believed Vinnie had done nothing to nurture her former lover's good side. All in all, Sinead felt she and Savannah had been able to say goodbye to him properly now.

Over the last couple of weeks, Sinead had regained the brighter personality people knew her for and she'd began to look ahead. There have been times where she's struggled greatly with Savannah, when the baby has been acting up. But none of that has impacted on the bond she has with her daughter.

Sinead had decided to enjoy the sunny day today and chose to sit out by the pool. With Savannah shaded from the sun in her pram, Sinead sat back with a book in her hand. Admittedly, she'd seen James and Peter out training so couldn't resist the opportunity to watch them. She found it hilarious that James was mentoring the new lad and if one of them was going to get annoyed with the other, she wanted to be there for the fireworks. Seeing James turn to look at her, Sinead sent him a teasing wave and laughed a little.

Her thoughts were then cast back to Finn. She felt a little bad that he and Mireya had ended their relationship back in July. Seeing Finn happy always made her happy, especially when he was such a good person and helped with Savannah so much. Sinead wasn't sure if she'd have got through the last few weeks without Finn, Lucy and Aidan. Getting another bright idea, Sinead had recently suggested Finn and her friend Eleanor went on a date. She thought the two would make a sweet couple and hoped her matchmaking would work out better this time.

The Romano House

Salvatore Romano

gyug-jpg.374921
Salvatore and Nicolo had been around the house when one of the guards informed them that Vinnie had been shot. The two were straight over at the hospital and it had been a few hours before they heard any real news. None of the wounds had been fatal and one had to question in their mind what kind of amateur would do such a terrible job at trying to kill the Romano boss. Opportunities like that didn't come along often and only a complete idiot would miss such a shot. That was a good thing for the Romanos, however, as it meant Vinnie wasn't dead. It did mean that the man would be out of action for a short time, though.

With Vinnie unlikely to wake until around noon, Salvatore returned home to Junior and Juniper. Along with Nicolo's help, Salvatore would run the business whilst Vinnie was recovering.

Salvatore and the twins had already got a good handle on the city, with the three of them being made familiar with the Sullivans and the Irish businesses. Salvatore had called Junior and Juniper into the lounge to update them on Vinnie and ask them if they were ready to help him keep the Romano business running for Vinnie. He got along well with Nicolo, so was sure they'd all be able to work together.

Alex's Apartment
As well as Jewels, Alex would also have received a call that morning informing her that Vinnie had been shot and was in hospital. He would be allowed visitors in the late morning.

Both Athena and Alex would have been expecting a visit from Leo first thing in the morning. He had told them he would come over to try apologise for his behaviour and hopefully make it up to them both. They would be surprised to find that he hadn't shown up.

In fact, the last time anyone had seen Leo was at around 3am, when he'd finished his late shift at the Grand Hotel and left for home...

Luca had been parked two streets down The Grand Hotel, cleaning his gun as he stare at the place that was owned by the Romano's. When he though about them, his voice could had been heard with all the venom in the world, hatred showing when he remembered how one of them had killed Kate, the only woman who had ever interested her. The main reason he was here had to do with James mentioning how some guy named Leo had been at the wedding that had been crashed by Angel and his goon, where the few people he knew had either been killed or injured. He had been happy when he knew that the pawn of the Devil, Angel, had been killed but the only time he was only ever going to stop targeting was when each and everyone of them had been captured. Driving his car closer, he had parked the place down alleyway that was a building, before exiting the car and walking closer to the hotel. Sooner or later, the guy was gonna come out and he was gonna capture him, so the moment he had seen him come out, he had waited for him to walk pass him before knocking him out and carrying him to his car, driving to the warehouse located close to where he resided at.

Peter knew James wasn't kidding about putting him through the paces but hell... he hadn't expected to be put through them so early in the morning. Regardless of his feelings about waking up early, he had been there at 4:59 am, waiting patiently and ready to work. The jog had been no problem, the young man had jogged in his spare time anyhow and it was actually really refreshing to do so at such an early hour. The day before had gone well, James took him around and gave him the who's who and what's what of the city he thought he knew well. Peter had known about the rival gangs in town, but as he was told about their involvement in things, everything became much much clearer.

Peter was allowed a break for breakfast after the jog and now they were out in the large garden doing other various exercises. Sinead had joined them and seemed to be amused by the men as they worked and Peter was getting a bit distracted by the beautiful young woman and her baby. James seemed to take notice, catching on to the woman who was 'reading' a book and warning Peter to ignore her. He was right, she was certainly putting him off now. Peter stared at the woman for a moment longer before nodding his head and turning back to James as he asked his next question. "Self Defense? well...never really thought there was much to it besides just trying to beat the crap out of someone...." Peter answered honestly now, knowing that no matter what the answer was, he would be trained regardless.

Lucy Porter

Lucy had woken up around the time James had, which was far before the sun even rose. As James got ready to start training with Peter, Lucy had tried everything to fall back asleep, but the worry for her doctor's appointment later in the day was getting to her nerves. So after unsuccessfully trying to fall asleep Lucy waited till James left before getting up and walking around restlessly. When the men returned from their jog, Lucy had busied herself with making breakfast for the family, trying not to let it be known how nervous she really was. Now she had been reading a book in the lounge with the two dogs resting beneath her feet. Lady had healed up nicely and was back to her happy go lucky self again, which made both James and Lucy relieved. Lucy reached down and stroked both of her pups fur before she sighed and set down her book. She allowed herself to think about her appointment, the possibility of her and James completing their little family becoming almost reality it would seem.

Her mind was still restless and she needed to find another distraction. She had seen Sinead go out to the pool with Savannah and decided that she would join them. Standing slowly, both dogs stood as well before she walked with them out to the pool. Waving to her husband briefly as she saw him look her way, she moved to sit in the chair beside Sinead and raised an eyebrow. Lucy liked Peter, the young man already winning her over after he took such great care of Lady. "So...he's quite the looker isn't he?" a knowing smile and a glance Peter's way would make it clear to Sinead that Lucy wasn't talking about her husband and that perhaps she was up to something.

Finnian had been lounging out in the grass on the other side of the garden. It was a kinda slow day for the Sullivan gang and he was enjoying what it had to offer. Mireya and him had a nasty break up back in July. Finn had spiraled back into his depression again and not even Sinead could bring him out of it. She had too many things going on in her life, that Finn wouldn't even let her try really. He refused anyone's help or reassurance. He took a few weeks to himself, letting himself fall into a funk that would be hard to get out of. Drink after drink was poured and he only stopped when he realized that he hadn't known what month it was. After he snapped out of it, he spent most of his time with Sinead and the baby, making sure they were safe and taken care of.

Sinead had recently suggested another friend for him and Finn was about to turn his cousin down on the suggestion, but he knew that he needed to get back out there again and start having a more positive outlook on life. Agreeing to this date with Eleanor, he hoped it would go well. He loved his family more than anything in the world but loneliness could not be cured by just family alone. He watched James and Peter with amusement and noticed Sinead being joined by Lucy. Everything felt as it should...but he was well aware of the people missing.

Juliana had enjoyed the night she'd spent with Vinnie. It had been a pleasant evening filled with smiling and laughter despite the death of Angel who had been very close with Vinnie from what the woman heard from him. She hadn't been ready to say goodbye but let him go on his way, before heading straight to bed. The amount of guilt she felt the next morning as she received the phone call was crippling really. She blamed herself for not going to check on the man.

Jewels didn't waste anytime and had headed over as soon as the phone call had been over. She had been waiting and waiting, not able to see him yet per doctor's orders until he woke up. She had noted the family members that had stopped by but stayed clear of them, not wanting to make things more complicated than they already were. She had been staring ahead at the one of the many white walls in the building, thinking about how the places needed more artwork when a nurse poked her head around the corner, informing her that Vinnie was now awake.

Jewels followed her into the room before smiling softly at the man. "Maybe I should have had you spend the night after all?" There was a hint of teasing in her tone...but it was followed by guilt.

Leo hadn't had chance to realise Luca was waiting for him before he was knocked out. The next thing he knew, he felt cold water being poured over his head which had suddenly forced him to regain consciousness. Leo opened his eyes to find he was sat in a warehouse of some sort. Instinctively, he attempted to get up but found he was tied to a chair. He gritted his teeth as he looked to see Luca standing there in front of him. He'd figured it was only a matter of time before someone came for him. To be honest, he was surprised it hadn't been much sooner.

"What do you want?" he asked, a mixture of anger and exhaustion in his voice.

James folded his arms as he watched Peter staring at Sinead - clearly she had managed to distract the younger man. He was about to tell Peter to focus when Lucy arrived on the scene to join Sinead. His eyes lingered on his wife for a time, his attraction to her never fading. He snapped out of his thoughts and looked back to Peter. "Hey, kid. Eyes on me, yeah?" he warned him, as if he hadn't found his own distraction in Lucy. "Self-defence... Do you want to beat the crap out of me?" he offered. "Go on. Hit me," he told him, outstretching his arms and inviting Peter to take a swipe. If the lad did try, he would find James very easily reached out and grabbed his wrist, before twisting his arm behind his back. "Do you want your arm back? You'll have to fight me for it," he encouraged him

Sinead smiled at Lucy as she saw her approaching and was glad her sister decided to join her by the pool. When Lucy mentioned that Peter was quite the looker, Sinead was about to act coy and say she couldn't possibly comment on James, but her sister made it clear she wasn't referring to James. Sinead scoffed at her sister's question and looked towards the floor as she tried to hide her embarrassment at being asked such a question. "I suppose he is a good looking guy. Why do you ask? What are you up to?" she suspiciously asked. She briefly looked back to Peter and James before quickly turning to her sister. "Was I staring or something? Oh no. I hope I didn't put him off of his training..." she trailed off. She flinched a little as she caught a glimpse of the men fighting.

Vinnie had woken to a pain in his abdomen and a vague memory of seeing a masked man shoot at him from a parked car. He knew he didn't have much to go on but he was sure his men would be on the case for him already. Right now, he couldn't think in great depth about who had done it or what exactly had happened. All he could think of what the pain from the three wounds. He was snapped out of of dazed thoughts as he heard a familiar and welcome voice. It was Jewels and he was beyond surprised she was visiting him. He wouldn't have blamed her if she's ran as far away as she could by this point.

"Maybe I should have stayed, Jewels," he softly agreed. "I'm surprised to see you here... and glad. Are you alright?" he asked, hoping nothing happened to her after he'd collapsed.

"At the very beginning I wanted to nothing you, even before Emmett death, but now, now I just want to see the Romano's suffer." Luca answered as he started walk around him. He wouldn't had left the kid alone, but no, he had to involved with the attack on the church. "You know kid, I wanted to leave you alone, I didn't even want to target people who I had taught where innocent, that's why I had left Vinnie daughter Alex, Athena and you alone, but you had to be involved with the attack at the church, you couldn't just leave us alone." He said to him while placing a hand on top of his head. "I mean right now I have you at my mercy, I could just kill you and be done with it but no, that's letting you off easy, right now I want to send a message to the Romano's and you are gonna help me." He smiled while think of the many ways to torture him. He could break every finger on his hand and feet, he could break an arm or two, maybe even break his legs, but no, that wasn't his aim. "But don't worry kid, we have all night for this to happen before I drop you off in front of the Romano's household."

Leo listened to Luca as he spoke, not one bit surprised at his words, given that he'd been close to Kate and she'd been killed at the wedding. "You're right. I shouldn't have been involved with what happened at the wedding and I should have left you all alone. I'm not innocent, but Alex and Athena are." It wasn't that he wanted to die, but when Luca mentioned sending a message to the Romanos, Leo would prefer if the man just ended it all here and now. For his sake and the Sullivans' sake if Vinnie received such a message. "What do you want from me? Just get it done with and send your message to the Romanos," he suggested. This wasn't a situation Leo had been in before, but it was one he was at least somewhat prepared for.

Alexandra Romano

Alexandra had received a call from Nicolo when she got home from the fair that night urgently telling her to come over to the house. While she was pleased to see her sister, uncle and cousins the news of Angels death had stunned her and took away all the excitement and joy.
***********
The past five weeks, Alex was unable to get Giovanni out of her head. The shock had eventually passed to sadness and the sadness seemed to be lingering. She had regrets when it came to him and the main one being not having made up with him after their falling out. He had been like a brother to her and she cared for him as much as she did for her siblings. She had been angry with him at the time but all she could think now was that she had wasted time and memories that she could have spent with him. On top of her regrets, it also hurt to know that he will never know his daughter and her heart went out for Sinead and little Savannah, she couldnt imagine how Sinead was taking this.
Alex dried her eyes and got her crying under control before getting up out of bed, it was like loosing her mother all over again and Alex knew that she couldn't shut herself away this time. Alex assumed that Leo and Athena were talking in the sitting room and just hadnt called her yet so she was surprised to find that Leo had not arrived at all. It's not like him to just ditch or be late. Before she had time to question it , Alex heard the phone ring and she answered it to he greeted by a hysterical Nicolo when he informed her that her father had been shot, Alex nearly dropped the phone in shock but was relieved to hear that he would be okay.
"Athena!" She called, the worry began to set in that Leo had also been hurt or worse. "Has Leo been here yet?" She asked. Alex held the phone in her hand ready to dial in a number if Athena said no.

Luca decided to bring in a chair, that he placed in front of Leo and sat down on it while giving him a smirk. "What do I want? I want Emmett, Kate, David and everyone of the Sullivan's who the Romano's killed to come back to life but now that can't happen, now can it? You kid, I would had preferred if you would had stayed away from the bloodshed, honestly I saw a lot of you in me when I first saw you." He complimented before snapping his finger, three gang members that had been in the back came, with one holding a cart that held different types of weapon. "This pains me you know, I was even thinking of maybe quitting my life as a gangster and let the young generation take over and have a peaceful life with my dog in Italian." When he mentioned being Italian, his smirk grew wider. "Why yes, an Italian has joined an Irish gang to take out an Italian gang, now isn't that a coincidence." He motioned for the guards to tied Leo hand feet before picking him up, but keeping ahold of him. "I didn't want to be the villain you know, but you guys made me do this." He said while standing up and going over each of the items before his hand resting on a wrench. Misty Gray Misty Gray

Eleanor Sheridan

Eleanor always went for the wrong guy, she always fell for the jerks and more time than once ended up with more than just a broken heart from them. She never seemed to learn from her mistakes and always fell back into similar routines, believing it was all her fault and so after a very messy breakup which resulted in her ending up in hospital six months ago, she swore off dating altogether realising her mistakes and misjudgement.
After the realisation that the previous relationships were not right and that none of the incidents were her fault, Eleanor had felt a lift in spirit, she finally felt free to do what she wanted, without having to ask for permission or to live life following orders from an abusive man. This new found bravery was not only recognizable in her personality or facial expressions but she also expressed it by cutting her hair and dying her natural brown locks blonde. Eleanor snapped out of her thoughts of the past as she finished curling her hair. She examined the golden locks and smiled to herself before moving away from the vanity table to get dressed.
At first she had been skeptical of going on a date with Sinead's cousin Finn, but she trusted Sinead and with that trusted her judgement on men and so she finally gave in and agreed, hoping that he might be the right man. Once dressed, Eleanor grabbed her handbag and left her house, making her way towards the diner where Sinead had suggested they should meet. As she got closer, the fear began to set in and Eleanor began to feel nauseous with worry. She hoped that he was nice, but what if they had nothing to talk about? What if he didnt like her? What if he didnt even show up?. The last thought made her stomach jump and she quickly tried to clear her mind of all negative thoughts. It will all be fine, everything will be okay she reassured herself as the diner came into view.

To say it was quiet with Angel gone was an understatement, for the last five weeks everything had come to a standstill, it was just silent from every angle and Nicolo didnt know how to feel about that. He missed him, it was weird not having him around and even five weeks later Nicolo still went to call him or expected to see him just walk into the house, the shock and denial was still clearly present.
Nicolo was shocked to hear about his father being shot and rushed to the hospital with Salvator that morning, he was glad to know that his father would be ok. He didnt fancy waiting around for his father to wake up and so promised himself to visit later when his father woke up. Nicolo went home with Salvator and called Alex the moment he got into the house to let her know what had happened. Once off the phone Nicolo walked back into the Lounge to see Salvator talking to his children. He hung back beside the door listening to what was said before deciding to go check on Fallon and let her know about their father. Nicolo moved upstairs and knocked on her door "Fallon?" He called.

Leo looked to Luca as he listed the lost Sullivans who can never come back after being killed by Romanos. Leo knew Emmet was absolutely nothing to do with him, but he chose not to say it out loud. He doubted it mattered to Luca. "I would have preferred to have stayed that way too. But as you should know, thinks aren't always so simple." Leo silently watched as the other three men entered with a cart of weapons.

Leo shook his head as Luca mentioned he was Italian and attempting to take out an Italian gang. The only thing that sending this message would do would be to make the Romanos even more relentless towards the Sullivans. He only hoped this wouldn't push Vinnie towards attacking even the innocent ones. The last thing Leo would want was for them to be hurt in his name. "You do know you're making a big mistake, don't you? I won't be able to talk Vinnie out of any retaliations."

Peter rolled his eyes at James as he told him to keep his eyes on him, like he totally didn't stare at Lucy as she came out to sit with her sister. Chuckling, he looked to James as he gave Peter a free shot at him. The blonde man looked at James like he was crazy, wondering if this was another test. Peter suddenly swung his arm out to hit the large man when he grabbed him by the wrist and twisted his arm behind his back. Peter's eyes went wide wondering how the hell he had done that and he shook his head. The position he was in was quite uncomfortable and now James was encouraging him to fight his way out of it.

Peter clenched his jaw lightly and thought about how to even get out of his grasp. Peter couldn't really kick from the position, though it was tempting to. His options seemed limited at this point and he contemplated on just giving up, but he knew James well enough to know that wasn't going to happen. He tried to move out from his grasp, trying to twist back around to reach him. "OW!" Peter hiss out slightly. "Well I can't really do shit." Peter huffed out. Most of the blokes who he fought were drunk out of their mind.

Finn bit his lip nervously as he waited at one of the diner tables. Sinead had set the date up for them both and this would be the first time they met. He really hoped he looked alright. He looked down at his shirt and adjusted it a few time out of anxiousness. Sinead had shown him a picture of Eleanor and he had to say he was quite smitten already. She had the sweetest smile he had ever seen. The Sullivan's were a tough family to deal with...one of the reasons why Mireya and him separated was because of everything that had occurred. He had lost someone he could have loved forever, just because they couldn't handle the reality of his family. Finn couldn't simple stand for that. So he broke it off and broke his own heart, not wanting Mireya to have to suffer anymore.

The blonde woman was long gone from his heart however, he had frozen it over in hopes of not feeling anymore pain. "I'll be right back" Finn murmured to one of the too friendly female waitresses who just giggled in response and moved towards the front of the diner, heading out the double doors for a moment to get some fresh air. Once outside, his eyes scanned the area briefly, looking for any signs of danger or unusual activity. The habit becoming a natural part of him due to the action the summer had brought.

His eyes caught a familiar face in his search, one that made his heart stop right then and there. He looked to Eleanor as she slowly approached the building and tried not to stare like some sort of creep. His heart began to beat widely in his chest as she came closer and closer until finally he couldn't help but introduce himself. "Uh...Eleanor?" He gave a small wave in greeting and a bright charming Finn smile. "I'm uh...Finnian Sullivan...my cousin Sinead set us up."

Jewels was so relieved to hear Vinnie's voice and she gently reached over and took his hand in her own. She let out a soft laugh as he agreed with her, but frowned when he asked if she was alright. Shaking her head slightly, her ebony hair brushed against her shoulders with the motion. "You are asking if I'm okay? I went to sleep like a baby and you are in the hospital. I think I'm quite alright, don't be concerned about little ole me." Jewels couldn't believe he would ask such a thing. Sighing, she released some tension she had been holding in, now just so happy that he was awake. "Your family was here earlier."

Her brows furrowed softly as she thought about who could have been trailing them last night, if she'd missed anything unusual. "I know you might have a pretty long list of people out to get you...but...do you have any idea of who could have done this?"

James Porter

James let Peter struggle for a little while until the lad gave in and said there was nothing he could do. James released the young man's arm and let me compose himself. "That's alright, Pete. It's something we can work on. Soon enough you'll be able to do it and you'll think back to today and laugh at your own sorry ass," he teased him. He then looked around the garden as he thought of other things he could show him. He had wanted to get some target practice in, but didn't want to startle little Savannah with the noise. "Is there anything else you want me to show you this morning?" he asked. Part of him was concerned he would put the lad off if he overwhelmed him too much so soon, whilst the other part wanted to see how serious he was about working for the Sullivans. In honesty, he was thinking about winding down in time for his and Lucy's appointment. Seeing her fussing around their niece only heightened his excitement.

"I don't know if I thanked you enough for helping Lady last month. Lucy and I were very grateful. Those dogs are as much a part of this family as its human members," he explained. He then glanced to Sinead before leading Peter to one side. "I don't know if you've heard by now about the shit that girl has been through, but believe me when I say Sinead mustn't suffer any more pain or heartbreak. So if I ever come across as strict or harsh, it's because I want you to make sure that girl and her baby are never hurt again. Do you hear me?" he sternly asked. Despite the tone, it would be clear in James' eyes that he only had good intentions.

"Hmmm. Perhaps James should be teaching Peter how to change diapers, if he's going to be a babysitter. He can babysit Savannah," she remarked. "But you're right. If he's going to be the poor sap who has to look after Savannah and me, then I should get to know him," she said, biting her lip as she looked in his direction. It was true that the newcomer was attractive, but Sinead wasn't sure if she was allowed to love again or even date again now that she's had a baby and the baby's father was dead. When she first got pregnant, the likes of her mother acted liked it was the end of the world and Sinead wouldn't have her own life again, not outside of her child's little world. Sinead wasn't sure if it was asking too much to be with another man now.

When Lucy directed her attention to Savannah, Sinead looked towards the pram and let out an exaggerated sigh. "Miss Savvy was a terror throughout the night. Don't be fooled now she's all cuteness and giggles. That girl wants to break me," Sinead said, her smile making it clear she was joking and loved Savannah. Regardless, it had been an exhausting night. "It's a good job I love her," she fondly added.

When Lucy then went back to stating that Sinead really had been staring at Peter, she let out an embarrassed snort. "Maybe I was staring, but I know I can look but not touch," she stated. Still unsure if it was wrong to move on from Angel when she'd had his child.

Vinnie smiled and gently squeezed Jewels' hand when she felt her hold his. "Of course I want to know you're okay. I'm glad to hear you slept well. One of the last things I thought about out there last night was the possibility they might have hurt you as well. I couldn't have lived with myself for that," he admitted to her. He then nodded as he heard some of his family had been there earlier, but he hoped their absence now meant they were at home taking care of business and finding out which coward was to blame for this. He still wasn't sure if Salvatore's hands were capable ones and he wished Angel was still alive to look after the business with Nicolo. Salvatore had been useful in London, so Vinnie hoped he would perform equally well in Chicago now.

Vinnie couldn't help but faintly chuckle when Jewels asked if he had any idea who had shot him. "I think the Russians would have finished the job. No, this has to be the half-assed Sullivans at work. That I am sure of. Perhaps they've decided to try muscle in on business and take advantage with Angel gone. The others need to be extra vigilant and make sure they're not targeted too. If it really is them, then they're in need of a wake up call," he admitted to her.

Eleanor was walking towards the diner in a sort of blind daze, she wasn't aware of her surroundings rather she was doing her best to keep her internal crisis from spilling out on to the surface. As she was beginning to doubt the whole thing and was getting ready to cancel the plans somehow, a voice suddenly startled her from her thoughts. She looked at the man in front of her and all her fears melted away. A smile spread across her face as she took in his appearance but once her eyes caught his genuine and charming smile she felt her heart flutter in her chest. She walked towards him slowly the smile still in place before she came to a stop in front of him.
"Hi, it's nice to meet you" She said in a friendly tone as she held out her hand for him to shake. She then laughed slightly and shook her head "I'm sorry I'm so awkward at this" she laughed. "And you're so attractive you're bringing it all out" she teased slightly. Eleanor internally sighed half way through that statement. Why did I always say stupid things? She needed to learn to keep her thoughts in her head instead of letting them flow freely out of her mouth.
"Shall we go in?" she asked him as she motioned towards the diner, hoping to leave the awkwardness behind,

Salvatore Romano Jr.
Misty Gray Misty Gray deer deer neverbackdown neverbackdown

The light illuminating the lounge currently felt like a personal attack to Junior. It crept and bled right behind his eyes, a heavy, burdening pulse. When he ran his fingers up through his dark hair, a characteristic movement, his hands stilled for a beat. He had touched a sensitive spot he hadn't known existed, and a now dull, though all-encompassing, ache bloomed from the spot. He didn't wince. He didn't even frown.

Where had he been last night? He couldn't really recall. Images swam about in his mind so colorfully and grotesquely that he felt nauseous. He ceased trying to remember. The most obvious explanation would have been alcohol, though he couldn't remember drinking. He knew the sick embrace of a hangover and this wasn't quite it. Still, he'd had enough rough nights to not let it trouble him too much. The bump on the head didn't surprise him, though the fact that he seemed otherwise unharmed and had somehow made it home last night did.

He didn't look worse for wear. He had cleaned himself up that morning in a bit of a daze. Absently bathing, dressing, eating. He hadn't shaved, and he could feel the barely-there edge of stubble on his cheeks, his jaw, his chin - a pinprick, a promise that seemed to say, Forget to cut me down another day, I won't forget to grow. It was a terribly grounding sensation, and he came violently crashing back down to Earth. Feeling the course catch of facial hair threatening to grow always threw him out of whack for a short while. It was evidence of something, or a few somethings, that usual floated about without tether, without certainty.

He sat beside Juniper, a living mirror of a life that was all at once his and far from it. He could feel the heat of the gears turning in her head and it was a cold sort of warmth. It wasn't ever quite comforting. It wasn't meant to be.

Their father faced them, speaking, relating news.

Their Uncle Vinnie had been shot, and while Junior was perfectly, wholly relieved to find that he was alive and in recovery, a wrong, spun-too-tight, out-of-touch part of him cried out in jubilation. Finally! It preened with a delirious, sharp toothed grin. An opportunity!

For weeks he had been a leaf in the wind of Chicago. He hadn't so much dove into the waters as he had dissolved into them. It was an unforgiving sort of place, and Junior liked that well enough. It was something even someone like him could respect. In the short time he had spent, he had risen to every breath of an opportunity like a dog barking at every phantom sound of a passing car. He had taken in every ounce of information that was given to him with greedy, seeking hands.

All the while, he had felt something brewing beneath the surface, about to give way, about to expunge itself. He had told Juniper as much whenever the feeling came to mind.

"...I only hope I'll be caught in the debris."

Sick exhilaration only took the form of a jitter to his form, an odd sort of twitch or shift here and there that could have just as well been interpreted as anxiousness, and perhaps in a way, it was. It contributed well to the heaviness of his expression, the plaintive look of his green gaze. He briefly watched Nicolo pass through. His cousins had lost a mother to the Sullivans. They had been all too close to losing a father as well. Junior couldn't imagine losing his own father. The loss of Salvatore or Juniper would have been the equivalent to losing a part of himself, a visceral, unthinkable thing. In Junior's mind, it was impossible for them to die, at least without him. His final act. The final impersonation.

Seeing Nicolo had spurred empathy in him, and the feeling seeped into his words.

"God, Pop, I'm just glad he's breathing. Do we know who the bastards behind it are? I'd like to thank em for being such poor shots. It almost seems like whoever it was didn't even mean to kill him."

He knew they must suspect the Sullivans. They would be foolish not to. It was all the better. When that family was concerned, the blood ran high enough for his taste.

Junior knew their family had sustained heavy losses - so recently still. He hadn't met Angel, but he felt the weight of his death. It shrouded their coming. All the same, this was different. His uncle was at the very top of the ladder. If the Sullivans really had the guts to take a swing at him now, of all times, then they had the kind of reckless spirit that bordered on a death wish. Junior could relate.

He wasn't surprised to hear that his father and Nicolo would be managing the business in the light of recent events. Junior all but interjected with his earnestness.

"Whatever you need me to do, Papà, I'm ready. I want to contribute here, where the fight is real, where it counts. Romanos aren't weak, and we don't get kicked around. Anybody that's forgotten should be reminded."

He masked the irritation the light caused, though he couldn't mask the intensity in his eyes that it garnered. Chewed up and spit out, he was all too eager for something even greater. A dizziness clung to his clothes, but he felt altogether too solid and stable for comfort.

Each word that was said by Leo, almost made Luca laugh. "You know you're a funny kid but you seem to have forgotten that we didn't start this, who was it that kidnapped Finn, who was it that killed Emmett at his birthday with innocent people there, who was it that attacked the church at the wedding of Lucy and James, did you consider that you would be getting people who have no business with us involved in it?" He questioned before dropping the wrench and punching him in the stomach. "They may be Sullivan by name but they had no business being involved with us, they wanted to live a normal but no, you Romano's don't think about shit like that and attack us, we left Alex, Athena and even you alone but you wanna know something, that may have to end soon, you attacked our innocent people so now, I hope they can deal with us going after them." He said before quickly grabbing the wrench and hitting Leo right leg with it. "Even if Conor doesn't want me to do anything against them, I will." Misty Gray Misty Gray

"I'm sorry those people were hurt and I wish it never happened, but you need a history lesson. The Sullivans and the Porters were causing trouble long before then. They're not so innocent," Leo informed him. He wasn't sure what he was doing speaking words that could potentially anger Luca more. It crossed his mind that he felt he deserved to be punished for what he had done. Not that it would do much to ease his conscience, but it would be something. When Luca punched him in the stomach, Leo doubled over as much as his restraints would allow, letting out a groan at the pain. He took a couple of deep breaths as he clenched his fists.

Leo quickly shook his head as Luca mentioned the likes of Alex and Athena may no longer be safe, regardless of Conor's wishes. He let out a pained scream as Luca slammed the wrench against his leg, crashing into the bone. As Leo tried to catch his breath and block out the pain, he continued to shake his head. Luca seemed intent on threatening the innocent Romanos and Leo was certain Vinnie would retaliate in the same way. He could only hope both gangs would cease to punish those who weren't involved and at least hurt those who were to blame for all of these wars and battles.

Clementine Faye Saint-Claire
Full-time Nurse | Side Librarian
a9Ihfsp.jpg
With a light tap on her shoulders, the young woman groggily lifted up her head, turning to look at the person who wanted her attention. Blinking back the tiredness as her blurry vision soon became crystal clear, Clementine stretched slightly before bringing her attention back to a fellow co-worker. "Yes, Nurse Cecilia?" Her soft voice echoed through kitchen lounge as she heard small carts passing by. With a polite smile, Nurse Cecilia relayed the message from the doctor that he needed her to come to the front room. Quickly getting up from her chair, almost knocking over Nurse Cecilia with the furniture, Clementine said a quick apology and a thank you before zooming down the hall.

The young female hadn’t been able to sleep a wink last night, especially when an ambulance brought in an older male in his late 40s, rushing him to the hospital with three gunshot wounds to his abdomen. It was a miracle the older male survived - though the wounds weren't in vital places, but still hurt and bloody, nonetheless - but Clementine trusted the doctor and seeing the look upon his family’s faces only made her want to work harder in assisting her Doctor. It amazed her when the Doctor, with precision and accuracy, took one of the residual bullets out that managed to make its way around the abdomen and was lodge in other places such as spleen, stomach, and kidney. The treatment took gruesome hours but after much time and patience, the bleeding began to stop and the tying of the wound was handed to Clementine. She couldn't imagine the pain of a bullet being shot at her, much less getting three. Who had done it? And why? It was a scary thought to think the man's life was being targeted and as curious as she was, she couldn't blatantly ask a patient his story - not without stepping boundaries. It wasn't everyday she had patients coming in to get treated for gunshot wounds. Perhaps a war nurse would have seen them, but the war was over, wasn't it?

But, no matter how much Clementine pondered on the matter, she always came to the conclusion that maybe the man had been in the wrong place and wrong time. Crime was still prevalent in their day and age, but it was still concerning. Once surgery was over, Clementine had to have been the bearer of both good and bad news to the Romano family. Salvatore Romano thankfully would survive the wounds, however, his recover from the wounds would take more than a few months and she hoped his family would help him adjust. Finally, Clementine arrived to the front office as she cleared her throat, adjusting her attire before knocking on the Doctor's door. "Doctor Soloman?" Clementine called through to door, waiting patiently for him to answer. Once she heard his voice telling her to come in, she walked in, making her way in front of him.

"Did you need something, Doctor Soloman?" She asked politely wondering why the Doctor was still in the hospital. His shift should have ended by now and seeing him rub his eyes before putting his glasses back on made her worry knowing he was tired. Seeing the young nurse before him, the Doctor gazed at her fondly, "Ah, yes. The results are back for the Sullivan family. Make sure to tell them of the news and go over with them the details. They should be arriving sometime today, if not, tomorrow." Furrowing her brows, Clementine took the chart from the Doctor only for her to bit her lips, not commenting on it. With a nod, she responded, "Of course. Thank you. I should go and check on Mr. Romano. I was paged that he had woken up. Would you like to see him?" With a shake of his head, he told her that he trusted her to be responsible and signaled her to leave.

As she left the Doctor's office, Clementine made her way towards her own station, placing the Sullivan chart there before picking up the Romano chart and made her way towards his section. As she was greeted by the nurses in the recovery wing, Clementine smiled before she slowly slowed down her pace hearing voices through the curtain. It must have been the same woman from this morning that Nurse Cecilia told her about. Not wanting to disturb the conversation and small whispering of the patient and perhaps . . . his lover, Clementine gently excused herself through the curtain that covered Mr. Romano's bedside, giving him privacy from the other patients. "Excuse me? Mr. Romano? Hello, sir. I'm Clementine and I am here to check up on how well your recovering. Pardon my intrusion." She gently spoke before opening the curtains slightly, moving it so that she could come in and check on her patient. Her eyes went towards the woman by his bedside as she smiled softly, "Good morning, Miss. Would you like some coffee? We do offer some in the lounge if you are in need any." She started before her attention went to Mr. Romano. "How are you feeling this morning? You were lucky that the wounds did not bounce into anywhere extreme, however, you did lose a lot of blood. Your activities have to be strict and no sudden movements should be made in case your wound re-opens." Clementine stated in a matter-of-fact manner though concern and empathy lazed her tone as she excused herself, walking around the patient as she checked his vital signs and other necessities.

Peter let out a chuckle as James released his wrist and let him loose and explained that he would be able to do it eventually. Peter knew he had nothing on the man training him, James had far more experience and strength than Peter could ever wish to have. Peter rubbed his wrist lightly as he looked around the garden as well. His eyes tried to stay clear of looking towards Sinead and Savannah but he couldn't help but indulge in the sight of the sweethearts. Peter had a soft spot for 3 things : Beautiful women, babies and animals. James question snapped him back into the reality of things and he shrugged his shoulders in answer before speaking, "Uh not anything that comes to mind. " Peter mumbled to James lightly before his glance returned to the sweet young woman sitting by the pool.

He had been stuck in some sort of daydream when James spoke again. Peter nodded his head again, having understood that the Porters were thankful for his help with the pup and he listened attentively as he explained Sinead's situation and just how serious it was to James. Peter gulped a bit, the man's tone having took an edgier sound to it but he could see James was just looking out for his family. "Loud and clear James." Peter nodded with a serious expression making sure to distinguish that he too was just as serious about this.

Lucy watched her sister agree with her, and the way she bit her lip as she looked Peter's way. A small smile formed on Lucy's lips as she realized that Sinead might be smitten with this man. Well maybe not smitten...but at least interested enough. Her eyes continued to watch her little sister for a few moments before she laughed and shook her head, looking down at her niece who had been nicknamed a "terror" by her mother. With love of course. "You giving your mummy a hard time little one, poor thing can't get any sleep." She cooed once more to the child wondering if she too would be able to experience those oh so lovely sleepless nights because of her own child.

Lucy reminded herself that it was probably high time for her to get ready to leave, James seemed to be winding down with training as it is. But her sisters words stopped her from getting up and excusing herself, her eyes glued to Sinead's as she slightly shook her head, her lips parting slightly as a breath of concern pushed through them. "Oh Sinead." Lucy murmured simply. "Where is the fun in that?" Lucy moved a bit closer to her sister, sitting up so that she could get ready to head into the house once she was finished. Brushing back a strand of stray hair from her face, Lucy smiled at Sinead, "I can see the wheels turning in your head Sinny. Its okay...to move on. In fact, it might be encouraged. You can't let yourself suffer over what could have been, Giovanni would have wanted you to be happy." She murmured before leaning in and kissing her sister's forehead. "Just remember that nothing has to be rushed, and whether its Peter or some other lad...if he hurts you, I'll have his head." With that, Lucy stood. "Alright, must get ready to go. Enjoy your sunshine lovely, and the view." Her eyes turned to the men in the garden before she looked back at Sinead with a wink. Then turning, she moved back towards the house to get ready.

Finn was struck hard by how adorable this woman was in front of him. The words were hard to formulate as he searched for the right things to say next. So far, introductions seemed to be going well. His heart leaped as she held out a dainty hand to him, to which he quickly took in his own large and calloused ones. He held it as if it were made of china glass, not wanting it to fracture or break. "Its swell to meet you!" SWELL?!?!?! Golly gee Finn why can't you say anything right?!His mind screamed at him as he smoothly shook the lady's hand. He released it just as gently as he had taken it and bit his lip a bit awkwardly as she commented on his attractiveness. A bashful smile formed on his lips and he tried biting his lip harder to keep it at bay, the blush on his cheeks gave everything away and he let out a small breathless laugh as he looked towards the diner. "Of course!" He murmured to her before heading to the door, opening it for her, he sweep his free arm towards the inside and gave a little half bow, "After you, Mi lady." his famous smile once again in light of the humorous moment.

Once she stepped through the door, Finn smiled once more and said, "I hope you don't mind, I was kinda already at a table before you got here. But if you like we can switch to somewhere you'd prefer." Finn looked to Eleanor and couldn't help but stare. The flirty waitresses that fluttered around him were like annoying pesky flies compared to the beautiful butterfly in front of him.

Jewels blushed a bright red as Vinnie revealed that one of his last thoughts from the night before had been about her safety. She couldn't keep the small smile off of her face as Vinnie simply nodded at the news of his family having been around earlier. Jewels was comfortable around Vinnie's family, but that was more when Vinnie was around and doing most of the talking. Jewels felt as if she was still intruding on a family she had no business being apart of. His children were very sweet and seemed to like her well enough but she couldn't shake the feeling that it would be preferred if she was not around. Nonetheless, Jewels had stuck to her guns and tried not to feel so intimidated, though they really didn't notice her for the most part.

Her eyes widened in horror as Vinnie chuckled and said that the Russians would have finished the job and that the Sullivan's must have been at fault for the poor excuse of a shot. Jewels childhood wasn't the easiest and sure her life wasn't glamorous, but for this man to simply laugh after looking death in the face was territory she had never crossed. She respected his strength. Jewels nodded her head once when Vinnie explained why they could have attacked him and that they would be in for a rude awakening. Words were about to slip past her lips when a nurse came bustling into the room.

Jewels kept a pleasant face as the nurse began going over the basics of what happened to Vinnie and how he was lucky no further damage had been done. She politely nodded her head at Clementine as she spoke of coffee and where it was located. Jewels had enough adrenaline in her system to stay awake for days on end at the moment, coffee would only make her shaky. She stayed silent and looked to Vinnie wondering what he thought of having to be on bedrest for the time being.

Juniper "Juliet" Salina Romano
The Romano Family
hRz9xds.jpg
A quiet sigh escaped her lips as she found herself letting out a breath she didn't know she was holding in. The night was chaotic, but after five long weeks of non-stop. . . boredom, Juniper was glad for the moment dramatics even though she wasn't one for theatrics. Learning about the ins and out of Chicago wasn't hard and she eventually found herself blending in as if she lived there her whole life. Juniper had had her share of good moments but it only felt more hollow as the days passed on with her going through the motion. It was as if she was asleep for half of her life, waiting to become. . . relevant once more. It wasn't a pleasant feeling and it wasn't as if she'd admit to feeling small, but Chicago was definitely a place she hated more than ever. But, when the news spread like wildfire of her uncle. She almost, almost prayed to Heavens above that the Sullivans made a stupid mistake. However, that isn't to say she was glad her uncle had got shot, but, now there was something her immediate family could do than just sit around and rust. It was tempting to Juniper to try and console Nicolo wanting to tell him everything would be okay, but instead, she found herself leaning towards Junior as she held his hand in hers when they waited for Nicolo and their father to come back with the news.

Her cousin didn't seem to want the comfort of her or her brother but, she had to tell him everything was going to be okay and she was there if he needed them. They were family after-all, weren't they? But, if it was her, she wouldn't have wanted such look to be given to her. It was something she hated. The morning rose like every other day, despite the blood-stain that happened upon the world. Juniper didn't know if she was bitter angry or just calm like a storm brewing. Seeing the tired look in her father's eyes, Juniper's eyes narrowed slightly as she looked at her hands before her eyes gazed upon Junior. Raising a slight brow at his disheveled appearance, Juniper sighed inwardly once more as he smelled of alcohol. Was that necessary? Juniper didn't like hangovers nor did she like alcohol, but seeing her other half look in such a way, she sized him up and down as she took in every small actions he made.

As her twin spoke, hearing the longing and the excitement in his voice, Juniper nodded in agreement with him, waiting for her turn to speak. However, she couldn't be brazen like her brother, but rather a timid lion waiting to strike while the iron was hot. She couldn't mess up and there were eyes and ears everywhere. Her eyes were puffy from crying as she felt sick with worry [the joys of make-up] as she hesitantly spoke, a resilience to her voice, "Father, there must something I could do." She stated, almost in a pleading manner."Despite only being here for the past five weeks, I have built a good repatoire with those in the fashion industry. And you know with fame comes gossip. Perhaps I would be able to assist by asking around about this?" Juniper questioned, though the underlying motives of her question was to hint at her father of something more. However, she couldn't directly ask him of such mission, not when she knew Nicolo was still around and could very well be eavesdropping. Juniper bit her lip as she inhaled a sharp breath, "We came here, father. And what both you and Nicolo want me or Junior to do, we will do it. I know you don't want me involved n the business of the family, but isn't that what it is? Family? I know I may only know what I am told and Junior is the most trusted of the both of us, But, if you could, anything simple or tiny, you name it. I will try my best. I know the dangers are more than I can understand. . but please. . I won't forgive those who tried to harm Uncle Vncenzo and I can't turn a blind eye at it, father. Not when he needs us the most." She rambled on, though there was underlying confidence and the more she spoke, the more her voice rose higher in courage and belief as she gazed upon her father's eyes directly.

James Porter

James noticed Peter looking towards Sinead again and wasn't quite sure what to make of it. He knew Sinead was a beautiful girl but he had to wonder if Peter understood she came with a child, which meant more responsibility than most single women her age had. If he for a minute suspected Peter was going to mess her around, he'd put a stop to it without a second thought. When Peter confirmed he understood the importance of protecting Sinead and Savannah, James patted him on the shoulder and smiled.

Seeing Lucy heading inside, James realised it was time for him to get washed and changed into something smarter. "Alright, Pete. I have to head out with my wife for a little while. You're free to hang out in the house. Perhaps play with the dogs," he suggested. He glanced to Sinead and practically groaned at his own idea. "Or you could go speak to Sinead rather than staring at her from a distance. She'll probably accept you as her guard if she knows you a little better."

With that, James headed inside to get ready for the trip to the hospital for the test results. He wasn't usually one to rush into excitement, but he had a good feeling about today. After all of the shit they'd been through, he felt like it was time for him and Lucy to finally get some normality and having Lucy's child would make his world complete. Once ready, James drove the to the hospital, every so often grinning to himself as they spoke about their future. He was clearly eager for their results.

Once they'd checked in at the hospital, they were both told to sit in the waiting room whilst they waited to be called in. "You know, I caught Peter looking at Sinead a few times today, and I don't just mean because he'll be protecting her soon. Should I discourage it?" he curiously asked, figuring Lucy knew best where Sinead was concerned.

"You're a bad influence," she joked, when Lucy suggested there was no fun in only looking at Peter. Her face took on a more serious expression when Lucy easily read what was on her mind. Her sister said it was okay to move on, even suggesting it was to be encouraged. She really did hope Giovanni would want her to be happy, after everything they'd both been through. She grinned when Lucy said she would have Peter's head if he hurt her. When her sister said she had to go Sinead quickly nodded her head. "Okay, I hope whatever you two get up to it's all fun," she said. "I guess I'll just stay here and enjoy the view," she joked.

With James and Lucy both gone, Sinead turned her attention to Savannah in an attempt to distract herself from staring at Peter. Seeing her baby was looking tired, she decided to head back inside and take her to her crib. She lifted her daughter out of the pram and held her close so she could gently rock her to sleep. She could probably come back outside for the pram afterwards, but she decided now was a better time than any to try break the ice. She caught Peter's attention and beckoned him over. "Hey... Peter..." she softly began. "Would you be able to do me a huge favour and help me get Savannah's pram into her nursery?" she awkwardly asked him.

Vincenzo Romano

Vinnie saw Jewels' eyes open wider at his comments about the Russians. He was about to reassure her when a young nurse arrived on the scene to check up on him.

"Hello, Clementine," he replied. He was about to joke about being lucky to have two women around him, but he didn't want to make either of them feel awkward. "I think I'm recovering well, so I'll be back up and running in the morning. I'm ready to run a marathon," he remarked. When she said he was lucky none of the wounds had been more serious, he nodded his head. He might be lucky, but the Sullivans would not be. Even though he'd expected it, he still didn't like the idea of having to rest for so long. He wanted to be personally out and about teaching his shooter a lesson. He wasn't sure if he liked the idea of recovering for too long and passing business down to others. He wasn't good with breaks and downtime.

Vinnie remained silent as the nurse checked him over. Her face didn't seem to change much, so he figured he was plodding along as expected. He caught Jewels' eyes and sent her a smile. He wasn't looking forward to resting, but if she were around he figured the time would surely speed by.

A soft smile appeared on Clementine's lips as she watched the politeness of the woman next to Mr. Romano's bedside. She reminded her of her mother - a beautiful woman with a heart of gold, though a stormy past that lead her to having Clementine and an estranged memory of her mother's family. The strain was one of the reasons why her mother was so reluctant of her to go to Chicago wanting Clementine to be away from the eyes of others and to live a peaceful life in the countryside. Nevertheless, Clementine didn't prod the woman and instead found her attention towards Mr. Romano who was in high spirit. A low, genuine laugh escaped Clementine's lips when he had told her he was ready to tackle the day running a marathon. Clicking her tongue, Clementine sighed, shaking her head, speaking in a light manner, "That must be the pain medicine talking, Mr. Romano. Whether you feel a certain way, your body won't like being stretched too far out after such a close call." She lightly scolded him as his nurse and he was his patient. However, something told her the man would be stubborn and he wouldn't want to remain in the hospital for the weeks to come. He seemed like a wealthy man enough and perhaps staying in the hospital without a guard wasn't a good idea for him, but whatever the case was, Clementine bit her lips, "I have a feeling you won't like staying in the hospital for longer than needed. So, how about a compromise? You have to stay here for one night and two days including this one and then you may rest at home. But, you must pick up any calls from the hospital to check on your progress including your wound and vital signs." She said looking at his chart that was in her hands before continuing, her eyes finding the woman's "Can I trust you to make sure to change the dressing of his bandages whenever you see blood and every day for a week and then every other day for at least a month?" Clementine asked her politely though her tone was hopeful as she was quite strict with her patients and their well-being. She would hate to have to re-stitch him again, causing the recovery speed to go slower. "If we have a deal, I will write up the directions including attaching his strict medicine regime that he has to abide to, no ands, ifs, and buts." Clementine finished, hoping to leave no room for arguments from both parties. It worried her that she would release Mr. Romano so soon, but it didn't sit right with her keeping him locked inside at the hospital especially when the place was quite open and easily accessible. Whatever the case was that happened with those three bullets, she just hoped the person didn't come to finish the job or that he was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Mr. Romano was nice to her enough, if not slightly easy to talk to and she couldn't deny the loving eyes he shared with the woman by his bedside. A man who had those eyes wouldn't be bad. . . right?

"Don't Underestimate A Pretty Face."

In the weeks that had passed since the death of, well, Chicago's own angel of death, and the great scare that followed the July fair, Maggie could see the lives of everyone in the Sullivan gang only going up. Savannah was utterly loved, and she could see Sinead happy with her daughter, and happy with oggling their newest addition. She felt for, and consoled her brother all he would allow her when Mireya made her regettable leave. There was only so much she could do before they struck luck, and Maggie was keen on finding out all the details of Finn's newest set up thanks to Sinead. Even Conor seemed in a better mood these days, and he was full on work; Lucy and James were able to live out their lives as a married couple while James trained Peter too; Aidan and Carrick seeked out jobs; the pub got plenty of visits from Maggie and Arthur each week. Life was looking up. She just hoped everything could stay the same, for longer. Her thoughts constantly went to Finn's broken heart when she thought of where he was now, but on the other hand, she had faith, and Maggie didn't want to think of that eery possibilty now. She was too busy readying herself for a swim in the pool. Her only pair of sunglasses adorned her already slightly tanned face, and she picked up her towel from her bed before leaving the safety of her room for the clear sky and warm sun outside., clad only in her bright red swimsuit, and a pair of sandals. She approached the pool area wth a small smile on her face at the conversation her cousins were having, quite easily catching on to Sinead's words about Peter. They had been looking straight at him only moments before afterall. Sinead at least. A tiny laugh escaped Maggie as she put her towel over her shoulder, and slipped out of her very temporary shoes beside her cousins. "How long do you think that's gonna last?,' she spoke out loud, barely audible. Her face was still soft, but her tone of voice holding something sigh like, making her understanding of Sinead's conflict obvious. For a moment she watched James and Peter go at eachother, amused by it, but still hanging on to her own question. There was no doubt Peter was a handsome fella, but she had a right mind to stay away from him. For Sinead's sake. Part of Maggie felt since he had arrived, it was an unspoken rule that Callahan was out of bounds. She turned back to her cousin with her light smile still present, her eyes also taking a moment to dance over her sweet neice. No doubt she wished she could run over and cooe at her like Lucy made sure too, but her attention remained with Sinead before she whisked herself off to bask in the cool water residing beside them and forget llife's unfairness for a while. Upon Lucy's leave, she waved her a short goodbye, wishing her good luck. There was a good chance she wouldn't see her cousin again if she stayed in the pool from here on. Giddily, she bounded over to Savannah and gazed down at her for a couple moments, fingers outstretched. 'Who's the prettiest baby anyone's ever seen?' she cooed. She could see the tired in her eyes while Sinead collected her things. She stepped away from Savvy with a look towards Sinny that said she was all her's. While Sinead sought out Peter's help, Maggie took herself to the water's edge and laid her things down on a seperate chair from Sinead's. 'Sinny,' she called to her, a smile on her lips. 'If you need anything. I'll be right here.' Her voice lowered with her next words. 'Don't get too frisky inside though~.' She sent her cousin a wave, and once Savannah was well out of harms way, jump feet first into the pool with a satisfying splash.

Peter listened and nodded along as James explained that he had to head out with Lucy somewhere. He was free to hang around the house. Peter smiled slightly as James suggested he play with the dogs but it seemed the man had more to say. James then suggested he get to know Sinead and the young man raised an eyebrow in surprise. Despite the go ahead to talk to the intimidatingly beautiful woman, Peter was suddenly unsure of himself. He watched as James moved into the house after his wife before his attention turned back to Sinead. He tried not to stare at the woman as she so tenderly took care of her child, a truly sweet sight to behold. Turning his head to the side, he clenched his jaw once before taking a deep breath.
His eyes caught a movement and he looked up to Sinead waving at him, grabbing his attention immediately, beckoning him over. Peter stood there stupidly for a moment almost looking behind him before point to himself in surprise. He was about to head over when a newcomer, Maggie was her name, came to take dip in the pool. Peter felt oddly vulnerable now, feeling as though the woman could see right through her. Snapping out of his stupor, he nodded quickly and shuffled over to Sinead She spoke his name and he couldn’t believe how it sounded coming from her lips. Her voice was like a bell and up close she was breathtaking. His eyes went to the baby in her arms and he couldn’t help but smile softly. She was asking for his help. With the pram. His eyes went to the pram and without hesitation, he grabbed it for her. “O-of course,” Peter wanted to curse out loud as he heard his voice crack like some adolescent. Clearing his throat, he nodded once again. “I mean…Of course.” This time, his voice didn’t fail him.

Lucy felt like she couldn’t sit still. Her right leg bounced up and down the entire car ride over to the hospital as James and her talked about what could possibly be, depending on these test results. She was so nervous, more so than she was willing to let on. This news could change their lives, hell it definitely would. Lucy was excited yet the reality of it all was setting in and she was terrified. She had high hopes for these results, knowing that James and her desperately deserved to have a normal life, or at least somewhat normal.
Lucy was tired of feeling that longing she felt when she saw Sinead with Savannah. They checked in at the hospital before being told to take a seat in the waiting room. Lucy’s mind was running a mile a minute when James spoke of Peter and Sinead. A small smile came to her lips as he mentioned Peter looking at Sinead in more than a professional manner. Looking to her husband, she chuckled lightly. “I wouldn’t. I saw Sinead taking a peek as you both were training. Poor kid thinks its wrong to move on. My sister needs someone. Heck it might not be Peter, but I can see it in her eyes. She just needs a little more time.” Lucy’s leg began to bounce again out of nervous habit and she lightly pinched at her dress skirt. “I mean how does Peter seem? I like the kid, but you have been spending a lot more time with him.”

Jewels was amused with Vinnie’s answer finding his optimism intriguing but knowing that it must have been from the pain meds. Her eyes looked around the walls of the hospital room and the curtain in front of her. A distant memory tickled the back of her mind, one she would have rather not touched. The familiar beeping of the heart monitor and the bright white walls was all too familiar to her. The constant drugs being pumped into her to keep the pain away, to let her rest ease. Juliana blinked a few times to compose herself from her thoughts before catching on to Clementine’s words.

Jewels liked this nurse, she was willing to compromise with Vinnie so he could get the hell out of this place. She was internally relieved of this, the hospital bring back feelings that had only just resurfaced themselves. Clementine looked to her and asked if she could trust her to take care of Vinnie and his wounds. Jewels without hesitation nodded her head and looked to Vinnie, squeezing his hand in her own. “You have my word, I’ll be watching this man like a hawk.”
