Chapter 1: One Murky Evening
Saturday 1st September 1948.
It was a cold and murky evening, with a fine drizzly mist...

Vinnie had invited Monte, Fortuna and Angel to the Fox's Den Pub, which was owned by the Azarolas - a family close to the Romanos. Vinnie arrived after the others, bringing Father Schofield with him, having purposely spent time in the church to secure a trusty alibi and keeping the man present to secure alibis for his closest associates.

The group discussed the Duilios, a smaller gang who were not offering acceptable terms in the partnership agreement contract. Fortuna suggested a meeting to discuss better terms, whilst Angel agreed to renegotiate. Monte was out for their blood and hoped Vinnie would give him bigger jobs to do. Vinnie decided to renegotiate but gave Monte permission to put a bullet in Louis Duilios' skull if they didn't change their terms and show loyalty.

The group then went into a private room where Vinnie told them Paolo, a former associate, had been taken care of and his bakery burnt down, after the man had betrayed them. He explained the man had been feeding information to Conor who had then been intercepting Romano alcohol shipments. Vinnie asked for ideas for ways to break Conor. Despite considering Conor a friend, Angel gave in and suggested taking the things closest to Conor's heart: his pub and Sinead. Vinnie agreed to using the pub and Sinead, but made clear she was to be kept alive. It was agreed that Angel and Monte would raid Sinead's apartment to shatter her sense of security.

Over at Chicago Police Department, the lawmen were having a rather quiet Saturday evening. Soon enough, a bakery was set on fire and the owner shot twice whilst outside the building. Ben (Detective) and Jon (Lieutenant) were soon on the scene. Paolo (the baker) had been an associate of the Romanos, until Conor had brought him over to the Sullivans side.

**************

At the Emerald Irish Pub, Conor was working behind the bar of his business. Conor violently threw a customer out, one who he'd barred the previous week for speaking suggestively about Sinead. Alex saw Conor as she gave into her curiosity and looked into his pub. He saw her too and soon enough joined her outside for a flirty chat. Alex told him about a fire at the bakery and Conor instantly knew the Romanos were sending him a message to stop crossing them.

Conor and Alex went to Aces Casino, where they ended up bumping into Alex's brother, Giorgio. He proceeded to question Conor and warn him to stay away from Alex, which Conor didn't take well but managed to keep his cool, other than some taunting remarks. Deciding it was all too risky, Conor left the casino, but not before subtly inviting Alex to breakfast with him the next morning.

**************

Meanwhile, at the Whistler Jazz Club, Sinead and Dylan were performing with their band. The band performed and took a break in the middle of their act. Sinead entered her dressing room only to fall over onto the body a dead man who had very recently had his throat slit. Sinead screamed as she stood covered in blood. Dylan stood with Sinead until two Sullivan men came to take her home, to which she refused and remained standing in shock. Rather than being taken back to her apartment, Sinead was eventually taken to her family home where her parents and siblings all lived. She'd moved out some time ago to escape the criminal lifestyle she disagreed with.

**************

Back at the Emerald Pub, Luca was having a drink when Kate joined him and told him someone had been killed at the Whistler Jazz Club and Sinead had stumbled upon the body. Kate told him Sinead was too pure for the city and would be better getting out of Chicago. Luca and Kate then went on to chat, with some flirtation thrown in.

Luca was soon interrupted when James entered the pub. James wasn't sure what to make of Kate as she flitted between both gangs. He believed she should commit to one as he couldn't trust someone aligned with the Romanos. James and Luca eventually left the pub as they were to meet Emmet at the Sullivan house to discuss business.

**************

As he waited for Monte, Angel had a short moment of flirtation with Alena, until they were interrupted by Kitty, a reporter. He gave nothing away to the woman and soon left with Monte to head over to Sinead's apartment. After beating and shooting one of the guard's in the apartment building, then taking the master key, Angel lead Monte to Sinead's apartment. They stole her valuables and destroyed the rest. In blood, Angel wrote a message on the wall: "Do you feel safe, Sinead?"

**************

After comforting Sinead, a furious Emmet went out in search of Conor, wishing to know if his son had answers. Emmet informed Conor about what had happened to Sinead and demanded to know if Conor had pissed the Romanos off. Conor confirmed he had done exactly that and felt guilty that Sinead had been punished to get to him. They decided to get Sinead's safety covered and then strike back against the Romanos.

Conor and Emmet returned home. They were soon joined by Lucy who comforted Sinead. Lucy then asked Emmet to let her help him with the business, but he rejected her offer saying he didn't want his daughters involved. When he and Luca arrived at the Sullivan house, James saw Lucy drinking in the lounge and his eyes were instantly drawn to the attractive blonde. Lucy then secretly asked James to help her get back at the Romanos through Monte, as Emmet wasn't letting her help. Knowing Lucy was strong, James agreed, despite his concerns about going behind Emmet's back.

Emmet, Luca, Conor, James and Shannon all spoke in private to plan how to get back at the Romanos. Conor was told to keep stealing their alcohol shipments. Emmet and Luca had other plans which were kept private. Conor then informed them about Sinead's apartment being trashed and the guard murdered. Conor and Luca agreed to check Sinead's apartment out. Emmet and James agreed to go out to intercept the Romano/Azarola weapons shipment.

**************

When he got home, Vinnie had a small argument with Alena over the revealing clothing she was wearing. he considered her attire to be inappropriate and slutty. He eventually apologised, but his point still remained. Alex then returned home, so Vinnie turned his attention to demanding to know where she had been and began reminding her of his rules, which resulted in an argument. Gianni returned home from a vacation and embraced Vinnie.

**************

Maite and Danny drove to the train station to collect the weapons shipment from the cargo. Emmet and James soon arrived, hiding in the shadows. James stayed back, aiming his long-range rifle at the Azarolas to keep Emmet covered as he went ahead with his shotgun to intercept the exchange. Danny saw Emmet and aimed his rifle at the Sullivan boss. James immediately shot Maite in the shoulder, though annoyed he'd somehow missed her head. Police sirens were also heard approaching. The Azarolas assumed the Sullivans had set them up. Everyone escaped before the cops showed up to seize the goods.

Chapter 2: Forgiveness, Justice and Revenge
Sunday 2nd September 1948.
********************************

In the early hours, James sneaked into Lucy's room. They discussed getting revenge by poisoning Monte. There was clearly sexual tension between them both but they continued to play their game.
**************

Vinnie, his family, Angel, Danel and Fortuna attended church. Vinnie questioned Danel about the failed shipment exchange and Maite's injury. Alena arrived slightly late and exchanged unfriendly words with Vinnie. Alena left the church and went for a drive with a concerned Leo (a friend of her brothers), the two continued to talk and get to know each other.

After the service, Vinnie pulled Angel and Fortuna to one side explaining he planned to attack the Sullivan family and their businesses. He wished to provoke Conor.

**************

Alex lied about working a shift that day so she could secretly meet Conor at Mick's Diner. The two flirted and learned about each other, business aside. After the date, the pair hid from a Sullivan gang member. Up close, the pair parted with a kiss.

**************

Emmet and Sinead spoke, with her father promising to take her shopping that morning. Sinead then invited her parents and Lucy to watch her perform at the Jazz Club. When Luca arrived with a new gang member, Emmet had to tend to business and postpone the shopping trip, which upset Sinead. Conor arrived home just in time and offered to take Sinead into the city.

Angel headed to Smithson's Clothes Store to pick up a package for Vinnie. With Conor waiting in the car, Sinead was alone when she collided with Angel. Sinead recognised him and was surprised at how pleasant he was with her. Angel was taken aback by her humanity and noticed how attractive she was.

Afterwards, Conor found Angel in the car park. The two being on relatively good terms, Conor asked for information on who had trashed Sinead's apartment, but Angel gave nothing away.
**************

Luca went to Kate's house to invite her out for lunch at a neutral diner and she gladly accepted. Kate opened up about her past, explaining she'd spent some time in jail for glassing a doctor who had been stalking her. After, Luca invited Kate out on another date.
**************

When Angel returned to Vinnie's office, the Romano boss opened the package. Inside was a suit, a gun and lots of cash. It was a deposit as the Italians were to assassinate Sergeant Hunter. Vinnie handle a bundle of cash to Angel as payment for his work. He told Angel of his plan for the Whistler Jazz Club to be attacked that evening and the Sullivans were the target, but Angel was to protect Sinead. Meanwhile, an attack on the Emerald Pub and Conor was also planned.
**************
Later that evening...

At the Whistler Jazz Club, Sinead performed with Emmet, Shannon and Lucy watching, whilst James kept an eye out by the main door. Angel had also turned up to ensure Sinead's safety.

The plan had been for the shots to be fired outside the club, but a vengeful Jimmy started firing inside the building, much to Angel's shock. Angel tackled Sinead from the stage to the floor - the bullet intended for Sinead ripped into Angel's chest instead. After saving her life, Angel then shot Jimmy between the eyes, ending the barrage of bullets. He led Sinead to safety before he fled the scene.

Meanwhile, Lucy had been shot in the top of her leg and Shannon worriedly was tending to her.

When the coast was clear, Sinead's manager informed her she was fired from the club. She found James' car keys and drove off in his car to the Romano house, intending on confronting Vinnie. Angel went outside and approached the car Sinead was parked up in. He talked her out of seeing Vinnie and arranged to meet her for breakfast the next day so he could explain everything to her.

When Sinead returned to the club, James and Shannon berated her for taking the car. Shannon accompanied Lucy to the hospital whilst James drove Sinead home.
**************

At Aces Casino, Vinnie and Fortuna met to discuss business. The two met with an associate, Arnold, in a private room where they interrogated him about a stolen case of money. After receiving a confession, Vinnie asked Fortuna to punish Arnold. Fortuna used a knife to inflict a deep wound across the man's forehead. Vinnie let the man leave with his life but demanded he returned the stolen money.

**************

At the Emerald Pub, Conor was working and noticed Alex outside. Conor invited her to his apartment above the pub so they could have some drinks.

Meanwhile, Luca and Kate met in the pub for their second date. As they drank, a series of bullets smashed through the windows. Luca rushed out and began shooting at the Italian gunmen and took bullets to his own shoulder and abdomen in the process.

Upstairs, Conor had been about to kiss Alex when they heard the gunfire below. Pistol in hand, Conor rushed down the external stairs and outside the pub. He was attacked by a large man and baited into a fist fight. Alex followed outside and saw another man about to fire his gun in Conor's direction, but she shot and killed the stranger first. The man fighting with Conor fled and Conor ordered Alex to hide as the cops approached.

Officer Lockwood arrived on the scene, hiding Conor's pistol from his colleagues before asking him to accompany them to the station. Lockwood informed Conor that Vinnie had tried to set him up for murder and some cops had also been involved in the plot. Conor was locked in a cell overnight to calm him down and prevent him from retaliating. Carrick visited him in jail and the brothers conversed.
**************

At the Fox's Den, Leo, Alena, Giorgio, Lloyd and Danel all had drinks together.

Alex turned up after shooting the Italian gunman and she'd been shot in the arm during the crossfire. Leo and Alena drove her home to give her medical attention. Angel was in the house in time to catch a weakened Alex and demand the others get the doctor. Instead, Alena used her own medical skills to tend to Alex's wound.

Chapter 3: Crossing the Line
Monday 3rd September 1948
********************************
In the early hours, Emmet and Shannon went for a drive to let out their anger. Shannon told her husband she wanted him to destroy the Romanos. After interrogating a Romano and getting no information on Angel's whereabouts, Emmet shot and killed the gang member. Unable to locate Angel at his restaurant, Emmet burned the Italian's business down and drove away with Shannon.

**************
Sinead met Angel at Jason's Deli for breakfast. Sinead told Angel she saw a good person in him whilst Vinnie was only evil. Angel told her things weren't simply black & white and offered to give her advice on coping with her family's business. Angel went on to compliment her singing and bright future. Sinead tried to tell Angel not to deny himself of love and happiness. As they spoke, Angel realised he was attracted to her and Sinead felt herself drawn to him in return.

**************

After being released from the cell, Conor headed to the Emerald Pub to clean up. Alex turned up but Conor felt hurt and betrayed, so accused her of helping Vinnie to try set him up for murder the previous night. An upset Alex protested her innocence and Conor eventually believed her. His anger turned to concern and the two embraced. Conor promised to leave Alex and Alena out of his revenge. The two retreated to his apartment to share some drinks and talk.

**************

In the Romano house, Alena and Leo conversed, then flirted a little. They were interrupted when Vinnie joined them, clearly not minding Leo's presence as he found him non-threatening... to anyone. At the same time, he questioned in his mind if Leo was capable of protecting Alena, even asking him when he was going to learn how to use a gun, to which Leo rejected the idea.

Alena and Leo left to plan Vinnie's upcoming birthday party at the Grand Hotel.

Shortly after, Alex arrived home and Vinnie immediately demanded an explanation about her injury. Alex lied that she'd been taking a shortcut home and got caught in the crossfire during the attack on the Emerald Pub.

**************

Vinnie, Fortuna, Michael and Monte met in a neutral pub for a meeting with the Duilios. The Duilios wanted the Romanos to kill Sergeant Hunter. Vinnie had no confidence they wouldn't snitch to the cops after the deed. On Vinnie's cue, he, Fortuna and Michael shot & killed Duilio and his three associates. Vinnie announced all the remaining Duilios members were now loyal to the Romanos or they'd be killed too. Vinnie also confirmed the hit on Sergeant Hunter would still go ahead.

**************

At the Sullivan house, James called a meeting with Conor, Lucy, Emmet and Shannon so he could outline a plan to attack Vinnie at his own surprise birthday party. Conor was apprehensive about attacking with innocent Romanos present but had no choice but to agree with his own family.
