Fantasy The Land of Lynthia

It's okay, these things happen... It also wasn't the fault of just one person, so don't feel bad. Regardless, perhaps we should take this lesson into account and be more careful in the future.

I forget how sensitive some people can be, sometimes. I tell it like it is, and nothing will change that, no matter how many people are hurt by it, because lies will always hurt more, even if you don't see why yet.

I'm sorry, but that's not entirely true. Telling the truth doesn't mean you completely disregard the feelings of others and make it an excuse to be rude. Being nice or considerate doesn't mean "lie and hope for the best". I say this from my own experience who has tried both and also been on both ends. "Telling it how it is", as you put it, is not an affective tactic for a majority of people, and nor do I think it has to do with "sensitivity". Or at least, I don't think that is the sole reason especially if you get the same result nine out of ten times (most likely an exaggerated percentage, but you get the idea).

By all means, be honest, because of course lying isn't going to get anyone anywhere, but it doesn't mean one has to be a jerk. Even if the truth does hurt, then the person will at least know you meant good by it and they're more inclined to listen and think of you as a good sport for telling them. Otherwise, it just comes out as mean and rude, no matter how you look at it.

....I apologize if I sounded upset by that post. I understand what everyone is trying to do, and most likely meant no harm by it, but actions have consequences. Yonsisac had people helping them with their writing, and really was doing their best. I was just thrilled to have someone who made a neat character and wrote lengthy posts. But when you have multiple people telling you that your writing basically sucks in such a blunt way, what do you expect? It's not an encouragement to try and improve or have fun in an RP that's meant to be fun, it just makes you feel like you're getting on everyones nerves and it's just better you leave them alone and be on your way without causing anymore concern.

I felt I should clarify my previous post: I'm not directing all of this at you, Jipan, or that what happened was necessarily that bad. But rather to those in general who had always claimed to be telling the truth, when in my eyes it's just... well, BS. There's a huuuuuuge difference between honesty and just being an ass, and it gets under my skin a little when people use that excuse. Again, not implying this at you or that you were behaving in that way. True, I still think things could of been handled a lot better, but as I said, these things happen. I just hope we don't have to have a repeat and lose more members.

I do often have people tell me that I can be a bit too blunt, and I do try to soften the blow as best I can without lying. I will admit that I handled this situation poorly, and I will also admit that it has happened before. I haven't actually been RPing here for long, despite how I may appear, and haven't had to deal with many cases like this before. Because of this, I was unable to notice the signs (which I can now see, in hindsight), that I was making someone uncomfortable here, and didn't know how to deal with them. I'm not trying to justify my actions, just explain them.

I know you weren't targeting that post at me specifically, but I did make a mistake, and I see that now. I may be blunt some times, but I'm not obnoxious. How are we supposed to learn without making mistakes? Okay, I'm probably going a bit far with this here, but I hope you get my point. I made a mistake. I know I made a mistake. I'm still learning, and I will try my best to not make that mistake again.

I understand. I'm glad to know that none of it was on purpose, which I suspected but's still good to know and be told directly. ^.^

I'll be making a post tonight, by the way.

@TheJipan

I didn't include your character entering the room because it was acknowledged by two previous posts when Yonsisac posted, but if your character entered just as the King was speaking, just let me know and I'll edit my post! You can also include in your post that Yonsisac's character left your's after "escorting" your character to the castle if you like, or had to go for some reason, to explain her absence.

@Zerohex

I just noticed your new signature picture, and I just had to say, it made me laugh and I think it's awesome.

@Thinslayer

If for some reason, the King shouldn't know about Fang's escapades, let me know and I'll edit my post! I assumed that since he made a pretty good name for himself, quite literally, and that the Alpha of The Patrol directly speaks to the King most of the time, then King Jair would know a little about him as well as a handful of other Patrol members.

Do you think I should go and apologise to Yonsisac?

I just looked back and saw the part where you referenced our entrance. I'm sorry I didn't notice it before, I just... didn't see it.

I'll leave that up to you to decide. Yonsisac didn't point any fingers at anyone or blamed anyone for that matter, just that they felt it was for the best that they leave. It's entirely up to you to decide what you think you should do.

As for the reference, don't worry about it lol. It was quite brief and could of easily been overlooked since it was a small acknowledgement.

I still feel guilty for this, though. I have sent them an apology.

Nevertheless, I failed to notice it. Seeing as I did make a post, and that Yonsisac has now left the RP, would you mind re-acknowledging it again in a future poost instead?

It never hurts to apologize ^^

And I certainly can! I can just edit my previous post to show an acknowledgement to it if you like? It'd be no trouble at all.

There we are, edited! I think you did okay for Natasha's character as well, it left enough space open to have a number of possibilities as to why she would of left suddenly, any of which Yonsisac could use should they ever want to return, which I like to leave for Rpers who decide to leave.

You may post if you like =3

I only think it's appropriate to wait when you've made a few posts in a row with only one or two other's replying before you.

Hmm... I think I'll let the others react to my entrance, first. Last time I started making quick replies, I killed an entire RP down into a 1x1.

Sounds good to me lol. I'm always self-conscious about that and can be a very patient person when it comes to waiting for replies, even if I'm excited to read the next post, but that can be a problem as well because sometimes I'd wait so long that others get bored and lose interests in the RP themselves, killing it entirely.

That's actually what happened the first time I made this Rp. There was this one person who committed themselves to multiple Rps (which I realized later) and also had a busy schedule, and so they very rarely replied and when they did, it was short and brisk. Knowing real life comes first, I didn't rush them and waited for them to reply each time, but by the time I realized this was doing more harm than good it was too late. I actually became upset with the person because they didn't even bother to leave behind a post or something about how busy they were going to be or their lack of motivation to make posts, and that they chose to remain and forced everyone to wait on them.

Well, I'm probably the most active person you'll ever find here, so you'll never need to worry about that from me. A similar thing did happen to me, though, as both of the leading players in my first proper RP started to not post, causing the RP to slow down, and the other RPers started to leave because of it, causing it to die in a rather torturous and tragic way.

That's good, activity is very important when it comes to an RP! So many RPs I've been in have died for the very same reason it's not even funny, it was both frustrating and tragic. That's one of the reasons why I left the RP site I Rped in before finding this one. I used to be in pretty cool and active groups, but it was like all of the really good and talented Rpers disappeared from it and Rps just started dying left and right. It was a miracle if any RP I joined lasted for five pages. The site itself pretty much went downhill from there, especially when they started "firing" old and reliable staff and hiring new ones, while keeping staff members that behaved very immaturely and were very rude to the community.

Well, you can rely on me. I'm honest and constantly active. And, apparently, arrogant too O_O. Either way, I have caused the deaths of a few RPs, but that was when I first started, in Autumn last year, and I have grown much better since then, after taking about 8 months break.

Glad I can, and I don't think you're arrogant, at least not as you are now and if you're referring to what others have said in the past. That makes sense, we all make our worse mistakes when we first start, myself included. It was a whole new world for me and even a bit intimidating at first lol. That was about four or five years ago, though. That makes me sound old >>

Perhaps it's a common time in people's life to take an interest in something like this? I've seen a lot of people on here that are about my age, and they all started recently too.

That could be it, I have noticed that as well. 13 or 16 seem to be the most common ages for when someone starts Rping, 16 being the more likely out of the two.
