The Great Magi's Misadventures

Finnas was busy taking another nature walk in the forest nearby his house, listening to the sounds of the wind rustling in the leaves and the cries and calls of animals living in the forest. Finally, some peace and quiet after having to listen to other people talk all day when he was visiting the nearby town for some food and supplies. Finnas heard news about the forest being invaded by groups of bandits, but he wasn't worried, being the powerful mage he was.

Tayleen jumped from conversation to conversation. Her typical self. She had many friends in her small village. She was almost always excited for an opportunity to speak. She couldn't think of anything important to say and so she rambled. Well, that is...until she saw a small pink pearl laying in the dust. She kneeled down to get it. It had grown silent. She stared at the pearl for five minutes before looking up and realising that she was alone. She frowned, she had never enjoyed being alone. The air was eerily. It had been cheerful, but had turned creepy fast. She shuddered. "Hello? " she asked to the air after hearing a creak of a door.

As Finnas was walking along, he sensed a disturbance in the wind, which came from the direction of the town. He looked in the direction of the village through a small clearing. There were some carts at the edge of the village that weren't there before. "Hmm," he mumbled to himself, a bit concerned, and began to make his way toward the village. "Bandits? Probably."

Tayleen walked through the village. Her feet couldn't help but carry her to the edge of the village. She looked around, no one. She felt an indescribable fear. What was going on? It was then that she saw the carts. She froze. This wasn't what she had expected.

Finnas put on his hood and goggles as he approached the town, quietly whispering an incantation to make him unnoticeable by people. As he approached, he saw a pair of bandits approach a helpless girl from behind, carrying a net to trap her.

Tayleen felt frozen with fear. The two bandits behind her edged closer to her. They silently raised the net over her head. She stood completely still.

Finnas sneaked along as he observed the actions of the two bandits. There were probably more nearby. He then watched as the two bandits throw the net over the helpless girl. Finnas then began to whisper an incantation for a basic lightning spell as he observed.

Tayleen felt the bandits throw the net over her. She turned towards them and screamed. Her fear worsened. She shook with fear. What could she do? She didn't know any magic. Her eyes widened.

Finnas sneaked up on the two bandits, who were discussing what to do with the girl.

"I say we sell her as a slave," said one, grinning at the girl. "I'm sure she'll make us a fine profit."

"
Just one?" said the other, looking around at the abandoned area. For a moment he looked in Finnas' direction, but didn't see him due to the charm Finnas put on himself.

Finnas quickened his pace, but accidentally stepped on a stick, which made a loud crackling sound, removing the charm on him and alerting the bandits of his presence.

"
What the? Hey! You!" the bandit looking at Finnas said, charging at him with a drawn sword. Finnas quickly sidestepped, tripping up the charging bandit and placing his palm on the back of the bandit, releasing the electrical energy into him and knocking him out. Finnas then used a silent spell, which he used to instantly move in front of the other bandit and placed his hand on the bandit's chest, knocking him out as well.

Tayleen stood, frozen. She was shocked by the events. She closed her eyes tight, then slowly opened them again. She was hoping that it hadn't happened, but it had. She looked at the man who had practically saved her. Who was he? She felt cold tears slip down her cheeks. "T-thank y-you" she mumbled in a broken voice. She fell to her knees and stared at the ground.

Finnas mumbled and nodded, looking back at the square of the town, seeing a large group of bandits going around the corner, with the leader, a female, rambling about how the town knew that they would be arriving, boarding up the doors as soon as they got there without being alerted by the bandits. Looks like this town waited for me to save them. Again. Finnas thought to himself, sighing. The bandit leader finally noticed him and the two unconscious bodies next to him, and the rescued girl behind him. "So, we have ourselves a bravehearted one here, don't we, boys? Thinks he can take us on?" The bandit leader and her lackeys laughed at Finnas.

Honestly, it's not that hard to fight bandits.

"
Well, then, let's see if he can take on ten of us. Get 'em, boys!" The rest of the bandits charged at Finnas, who was whispering another incantation. Soon, a glowing orb was hovering above him. Finnas raised his hand, then extended it in front of him, causing the orb to separate into 10 lasers which homed in on each of the ten bandits charging at him, striking them to the ground. "Grr, a mage, I see? Well, let's see if you can handle me!" The bandit leader said an incantation for a fireball spell, creating a large fireball and firing it at Finnas, who seemed unfazed at the flaming ball of death flying at him.

Tayleen looked up, her eyes wide. She looked at the man who had saved her, in both fear and wander. She was speechless, at loss for words. She slowly stood. This cannot be happening, not now. Not ever, she thought.

Finnas simply splayed his hand forward again, creating a barrier which protected him and the girl behind him from the blast from the fireball. As the smoke cleared, Finnas could see the bandit leader's face turn from a grin to a frown. "Child's play," he said to himself. He chanted an incantation for a lightning spell, firing it at the feet of the bandit leader, with the blast being powerful enough to knock her back a couple feet.

Panicked, the bandit leader and her lackeys got up and retreated from the town, hopping onto their carts and running away. Finnas sighed. "What a boring group." Seeing the citizens of the town emerge from their homes, he began to walk away so that the people couldn't bother him with their thanks, nodding at the girl as he walked past her.

She looked at the man. A frown crossed her face. She wasn't used to this at all. She dusted herself before running after him. She was curious. She felt the curious gazes of her fellow villagers behind her, staring into her back. She smirked.

"Hey! Wait! " she called out, her voice already raspy from her running.

Finnas heard the girl chasing after him. "Great, another person pleading for a thanks." He dashed into the forest, disappearing into the treeline, not turning back to face the girl.

Tayleen's friend ran up behind her and patted her shoulder. "You're not getting anything from him," her friend said, staring into the forest. "And you do know who that was, right?"

Finnas returned to his house in the forest, sighing a depressed sigh. "Hah, another peaceful day ruined."

She stopped running and sighed She looked at her friend, clearly confused. She had no clue who he was. She shook her head. She looked after the man. She sighed and wallked back to the village with her friend.

She clenched her fists. " I want to learn magic. I want to be able to protect our village and my friends. I don't know why" she said. Memories flooded her mind. She held back tears and shook her head. She couldn't afford to remember what had happened.

"I suppose you could try to persuade him to teach you something. Rumor is he's trying to find an apprentice," Tayleen's friend said. "His house is somewhere in the forest. Got lost when trying to find it, once. It feels like there's some kind of barrier hiding it from us."

Finnas sneezed as he entered his house, removing his hood and goggles as he took a seat on a chair. "I should take an adventure vacation," he sighed, rubbing his nose.

She looked at her friend. "Who exactly is he?" She asked. She was completely confused and amazed. She shook her head. She looked around the village.

Tayleen stretched slightly and looked ahead at her friend again. " I'll see you later, " she said before running into the forest. She was determined to learn to use magic.

Finnas got up from his seat and stretched his arms, heading towards his bedroom. He pulled out one of his infinity bags from his closet and began packing in it some essential things that he would need, such as a tent, ingredients for potions, clothes, along with other various belongings. Finnas put his treasured staff next to the door of his house so he wouldn't forget it on his way out.

Tayleen walked through the forest. She didn't know exactly what she was looking for, but she trudged on. She shuddered, as a village girl she hadn't been allowed to travel very far into the forest, at being so deep in the forest. It wasn't a creepy feeling, just one that was brought on by inexperience. She walked for ten minutes until she felt a magical force. She shuddered again and saw what appeared to be a building of some kind. She muttered under her breath and walked forwards.

As soon as Finnas finished packing his infinity bag, he felt a disturbance in the force...field surrounding his house which he created to keep normal people from finding him. It's probably just an animal or something, he thought to himself, but it wouldn't have hurt to check, so he left his house. As he left the door, he noticed a girl walking towards his house. With a look of surprise and annoyance on his face, he glared at the approaching girl.

Tayleen looked at him, she flinched slightly. She stood her ground though. Her eyes flicked to the ground. This wasn't exactly what she had expected. She was a little frightened, but her determination to learn magic overcame her fear. She looked back up at him with an expression of determination. She glared back at him.

"Do I know you?" Finnas said dully, taking a casual stance and putting his hands in his pockets. He could see the determination in the girl's face, which she had for some reason. Did she want something from him? She seemed familiar, too, but Finnas could picture her face in his memory.

"No, we have not been properly introduced, " she said. She sighed and looked at the ground. She still had no clue who he was, but if she could use magic she wasn't giving up. That was the one thing she knew above anything else.
