The Good Ship (Flighter and Oit)

Walter sobbed in Kolliah's arms. He felt exhausted by what was happening -- Completely emotionally strained by the going-ons, the memories flooding him. They were so horrible. They were just so unbelievably awful. He barely noticed when the world around them had fizzled. He was still experiencing how horrible everything was.

But then his memories shifted in mood, in color. Especially in color, just color. A creature pulled him in - Spite - it pulled into a world, into Concordia and from there, it was as if his life had shifted from a horror genre to a fantasy one. He remembered it all; The war, the necromancers, Todd, just... Todd. A lot of Todd. Todd was his best friend (and crush, hah). He remembered teasing him a whole lot when they first met. He remembered how terrified he felt when he first saw him turn into a werewolf. He remembered that feeling of betrayal when Todd didn't care about what Life City was doing to innocent people. He remembered it all.

And he ran, he ran all the way to Death City, and there he met Lord Bibentus, who saw his potential and trained him, sharpened the skills he already had. Made him a force to be reckoned with.

They were going to stop the war. Walter had been taken out of his world, chosen by the gods to stop a war that Jiirki, the monkey-man who took his memories in the first place had caused. And they failed, didn't they? They were both forced into this world by that same trickster. The same god. The memories ended on that note. That he and Todd failed to save an entire world.

He shook in Kolliah's arms, silent.

It was over and done. Walter had the memories that he had wanted. But would he ever act the same as before? Now that he knew?

Kolliah held him as tightly as ever and let the tears fall down her back. She awaited for a response that never was. Walter sat there, silent, in her arms. But his body still shook with, what she thought was fear. Or sadness. Either or, it was still a negative feeling.

She wanted to know what he was thinking. How he was doing. She couldn't quite tell from body language. "Walter, it's over. Are you alright?" She asked, though in a slow tone.

It took him some doing, but he managed to convince himself to let go of the goddess to look at her. His eyes were sad. What he was forced to re-experience at such a fast pace was... Crushing, to say the least. Traumatic was another good word for it. He was still shaking. He nearly killed himself during the whole thing, didn't he? He nearly stabbed himself. It would have been all over for him.

There was a silence even long after Kolliah asked her question. Then Walter felt his throat tighten again. He covered his eyes quickly with his hand and sobbed into it again for a bit. He shook his head at Kolliah. He was not okay. He didn't think he'll ever be okay again...

... But he was glad he did it. He was glad he got his memories back. If he hadn't, then surely it would haunt him for the rest of his life, that unknowing. He wiped his tears, sniffling a bit. Those memories also gave him something no one else had. He had his infancy memories, and because of that, he knew his real name. He was not Walter Hobbes, no, but Drake Aldred. This, he decided to keep to himself. No one else needed to know. No one else.

Walter than stood. He picked up his katana and put it back in its sheathe.

"Thank you." He told Kolliah softly, though he was still distant. Unfocused. Still digesting those memories he got back.

"I'd... Like to go back... Please." He then requested.

"You wish to go back?" Kolliah asked. Well, she would do that. But she wasn't sure how he would fare on his own, after what she had seen. "... Walter, I'll let you back. And I'll follow you until I see that it is not necessary... Alright?"

Kolliah floated over to him and looked him over one last time. She gave out one last nod, before waving and sending him off...

Only to see her again. Hovering above him. Like a ghostly presence. Chrysaorus lay fainted on the ground next to him, and it appeared as if she was sleeping.

Walter was surprised when he was returned to the physical world to find Chrysaorus lying on the ground, unconscious. Silently, he scooted closer to her and checked her over to see if she was okay. He was still shaking, and he knew it would be a while before he stopped being so damn twitching, though even with his issue, he checked the queen over successful. The voice in his head was still screaming at him. In fact, it was louder now than it was before, and certainly more... Compelling.

He took out his katana again.

It will be so easy.

Yes.

Only a minute. A minute is all you need.

Yes.

He readied the blade, touched the sharp tip to her neck. It will be so easy. It will take only a minute. It was a way to express himself, to release all that pain he had felt. Walter Hobbes. Drake Aldred. It didn't matter. He could be anyone, yes, because he was an actor wasn't he? No. No he couldn't be. The world took that from him. The world took everything from him. But that's okay -- He'll just find other ways to gift the world with art. Pure, visual art.

He pressed a lit harder. That mad glint was back in his eyes. He was going to kill this woman.

"What the fuck are you doing??" Todd screamed at his friend, tearing him off and away from Chrysaorus, then throwing him onto the ground, "What did you do to her?? Why is she unconscious like this?? Answer me, Walt!!"

Todd had decided to go find Chrysaorus and Walter anyway, figuring them both to be done by now. Luckily he was right, and in entering the area now, he had just saved the Queen's life. He towered over the fallen Walter, his face twisted with rage, and Walter could do nothing but stare at him innocently, terrified by Todd.

"I-I don't know what you're talking about!" He answered. Todd noticed in the different lighting how Walter's complexion was a lot more of a sickly pale than he was before he entered the room, and his answer confused Todd for a second before the rage kicked into overdrive.

"Don't you dare play dumb with me! I saw what you were about to do to her! I saw that katana on her neck!!"

"I-I was just checking her over t-to see if she was alright! A-and then..."

And then the

voice

came

back.

"I-I don't know how, Todd, I swear, I-I'm not usually like that, I-I didn't mean to --"

And then Walter was smacked hard across the face. Todd stared at him in silence, glaring at him with widened, furious eyes. Walt, with a twitching hand, touched the stinging area. He was silent. They were both silent. Then Todd turned away from Walter to go check on Chrysaorus himself.

"No!"

Kolliah shrieked. It was exactly as she feared; he wasn't okay after having his memories returned. She saw the blade pointed at Chrysaorus' neck. Touching her neck. Ready to cut it. No, no. This wasn't going to happen when she was there.

"Walter, snap out of it!" Kolliah floated next to him. "This isn't you! She did nothing wrong! Don't kill her!" But, there was no use. Some other force was causing him to act that way.

Then Todd came. He burst through the door, saw what Chrysaorus was doing, and acted in rage.

"What the **** are you doing??" He stood over Walter, causing Kolliah to back away slowly.

"I don't know what you're talking about!"

"Don't you dare play dumb with me!"

Kolliah closed her eyes and turned away, not liking what she was seeing. She hated violence. Maybe she could stop it. She could stop it! She floated over into Chrysaorus' unconscious body, and temporarily used it.

Kolliah stood up in Chrysaorus' body and turned. "Todd, it's okay! Please don't get mad at Walter!" She said, Kolliah's voice coming out of Chrysaorus' body. "I returned his memories. His mind is going haywire, I think! It's not his fault!"

Todd instantly backed away, startled when Chrysaorus suddenly got up. His eyes narrowed until he heard Kolliah's voice come out of the Queen's mouth.

"What do you mean by 'going haywire', huh? I thought he was already crazy." He growled, still unhappy with what Walter was about to do, whether it was his fault or not. He didn't like that feeling that came with seeing Chrysaorus in such danger. He felt incredibly protective of her, and it was an uncomfortable situation he was placed in, protecting Chrysaorus from his best friend.

At the same time, Walter wondered what Todd had wondered. His mind was "going haywire"? He was terrified, wondering what else could happen if getting his memories back did that much damage to him. Was he a danger to his friends and allies? Was it a mistake to not kill himself, if that was the case?

"Oh no..." Walter mumbled to himself, now upset, "Oh no no no..."

"......." Sanade's fingers graced the arm of her spectacles, removing them and then wiping the glass with her handkerchief, before settling them back on her face. She touched the bridge of the glasses, pushing them up slightly as she folded her arms over her chest. A smile twisted and curled on her face, as she watched the procession occur in front of her, just out of mind, out of sight from the commotion. "Heh." She gave a short chuckle, no more than a single release of breath, unheard and unnoticed. This whole thing was getting fairly interesting. She should keep watching them.

She turned away from the scene, her unzipped jacket swirling around her, revealing the black, undecorated tank top underneath before the jacket settled back again. Sanade tucked her hands into her pocket, and strolled back to the room she was designated, pausing at the door that Todd had mentioned was Walt's. Her head turned to look at the door to where she had been spying the trio from, then back at the door. Her hand reached forwards and touched the door, running her fingers along it, before she left it alone and returned to her room. Once more, the tumblers clicked and the insides of the room were sealed off again.

"Well, yes, but..." Chrysaorus twiddled her fingers nervously. "He got his memories back... The strain on him, it's a bit much. Plus, with the problems he already has... But, I can fix it! Just please, don't get mad at him. "

She turned to Walter, hearing him mumble to himself. What could he be thinking? "Walter, I'm going to help you through this, okay? You're not going to hurt anyone, okay? Let's all just calm down! Please?"

((pffft))

Todd glanced back at Walt after listening to Kolliah, and his anger faded a bit. His tense stance deflated.

"I'm calm if Walt's calm." He told the goddess quietly, then approached his friend, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder, then squeezed it a bit, "Alright, buddy, fine. I'll believe you and Kolliah when you guys say it wasn't your fault. I'm gonna let this go."

"... Y-You're not going to throw me in the dungeon again...?" Walt quietly asked, his voice quaking a bit.

"What?" Todd responded, raising a brow, "No, no -- Nothing like that, Walt! You're never going to go there again, I promise."

Then Walter, despite trying so very hard not to, ended up sobbing again, this time on his friend. This was too much, too much, too much. He felt Todd pat him on the back. God, he felt so damned pathetic.

"Hey, it's okay, Walt." Todd told him, "It's okay, Kolliah said she's going to help you. She'll fix you, don't worry."

"Don't worry?" Walter answered, his voice dull, "How can I not worry? I nearly killed the Queen and now i'm being offered the cheap way out of this."

"It's not cheap Walt, it's --"

"It's cheating."

"It's not cheating! I'm not changing you in any way with my power, only... Guiding you. Changing you will only make things more unsafe. " Chrysaorus frowned and ran over to Walter's side, hugging him, even if it were against his will.

"You can't do it on your own. We can help."

--

Drianne wanted to welcome the new visitor with some treats she and the two girls had made a while back after Walter and Garren had arrived in her room. She carried a metal tray with fluffy white treats arranged circularly on said tray. While walking through the halls, she saw her walking back to her room. What a coincidence! Drianne turned the corner and, once she was in the room's vicinity, she put the tray in one hand and knocked on the door. "Hello?~ Miss?" She called inside.

Walt froze up when he was hugged, still shaking and twitching. They could help him, yes. The voice screamed again and he whimpered, forcing them both away. It was punishing him for not acting. It was punishing him! Todd seemed to understand what was going on and he was quick to move back over to Walter.

"Walter! Walt, hey, whatever you're seeing or hearing or thinking, or whatever -- It's not real, alright? You don't have to listen!"

Walter shuddered, then nodded. But he knew if he didn't listen to it, the voice would make something very very bad happen. Oh yes, something very bad indeed. He couldn't, he couldn't, he couldn't --

"Walt!" Todd said, a bit more firm now, which snapped his friend out of that trance-like state.

"I'm sorry..." He said in reply, "I'm sorry, I... I need the help. You're right, I need the help."

Chrysaorus pulled back, wiped her eyes, and nodded. "Thanks, Walter. For understanding." She took a deep breath, let out another "Alright", then turned to Todd. "Chrysaorus is yours. Make sure she gets enough rest, okay?" Chrysaorus leaned in towards him, stepping forward, until her body got limp and she fell into his arms. Kolliah floated out of her body, and flew out 'till she was behind Walter. In her spectre-like form, she put her hands around his shoulders, and gently whispered in Walter's ear, "It's all going to be alright".

((Meh))

Todd caught Chrysaorus and picked her up, planning to carry her back to her room. He glanced at Walter, who had nodded a little to Kolliah, wiping his eyes of any straggling tears. Todd kept his eyes on Walter for a bit, then walked out of the massive room. He carried the Queen back to her room, to her bed, placing her gently onto it. Todd sat in the corner, watching her. He was grateful that she helped Walt, but what would this mean for everyone else's safety, now that he had his memories back?

~

Walter had watched Todd leave, and after a minute or two of simply standing there, he decided to head back to his own room. He didn't feel normal anymore. He felt almost like his mind had been corrupted. His old memories, in their attempt to override his current ones, froze up and broke his sanity altogether.

He sat down on his bed, legs crossed, hands resting on his lap. He ran his fingers through his hair, sighing uncomfortably. Once more, he held his hand up and forced his retractible claws out, then let them slide back in. Out and in, out and in. Just toying with those claws of his. They were a new feature, weren't they? They were never in his old memories, no, they never showed up once.

Jiirki must have done this. There was no doubt in his mind that the trickster god was behind his altered body. But why? What reason did he have to do this to him? Was it just for the sake of confusing him? For the fun of it? What an odd thing to do.

"... I don't understand the purpose behind this, Jiirki." He thought aloud, still calling forth and putting away his claws. Tensing up his hand and relaxing it.

There was a silence as the knock echoed slightly through the hallway. Then there were sounds of footsteps, a stumble, before the tumblers rolled and clicked twice. The door opened just by a crack and a glasses-less face peered through the gap, the eyes studying Drianne for a bit. The girl who was with her friends with Walt earlier. The malice that glared out from the exposed eye faded away and the door opened up fully. Behind her, the room was still in pristine condition, except for the bed, where the sheets have been crumpled slightly, an implication that she had been lying there for a bit. Sanade pushed on her glasses, and cast the girl another once over. She, too, had the same sheen as the other denizens of the castle. Not surprising. Another one of them, she supposed. Niche bowed slightly, her zip clinking on the metal of the teeth as she lowered her torso and straightened up. Her hand shot up and pressed the glasses back in position before they slipped off.

"Sanade. Just call me Sanade. It'll do. Is there something you require?"

Now, despite my computer being all charged and fixed at the moment, I felt too weak to get up and use it <//3 hhhahahaahahaha...

But I'll try my best to get over this weakness! Yes, I'll use it to my advantage!))

Chrysaorus' eyes opened to reveal herself being carried by a familiar blurred figure. She had been weakened, and exhausted. She wasn't sure if she could move herself at all. In the middle of the movement to her room, she rose an almost inactive, frail arm up to her face, and rubbed the heterochromatic eyes that she had. It helped a bit with her sight (but she still couldn't see very well).

"Todd?" Chrysaorus grunted, rolling her head in his arms. She starred at the wall that they had walked past on the way to her room. "This must have been the second time you have done this. Sorry." She let herself get placed upon her bed, but, she turned back to Todd to sat in the corner. "What are you going to do now? Todd?" She asked, dozing off.

--

Kolliah stayed along with Walter, watching him. She wondered if he could see her, even if she knew he could hear her. While Walter stood in place, she wandered around his passive body, peered at him, and waved in his face. ... He probably wouldn't be able to see her. She sighed.

Kolliah watched him walk away. To his room, she supposed. She, of course, followed him through the halls and into his room. And she kept watching him. Doing what she had promised, and making sure Walter was okay.

Eventually, though, Kolliah got antsy. She sat on the floor next to the bed, cross-legged, mimicking Walter. She looked up at him and watched him play with his claws. It was weird. Then, he made a statement out-loud, which caused Kolliah to tilt her head in confusion with a thick eyebrow raised.

"Who is Jiirki?" She asked in response to his thoughts.

--

Drianne backed away a little from the door as she seen it creek open just a tad. She blinked. She held the plate tighter in her arms for comfort. She initially thought the woman was scary, but...

Polite? The door opened fully and out came the lady, who bowed in her presence.

"Sanade. Just call me Sanade. It'll do. Is there something you require?"

"Oh, um, not really. I-- and my friends-- made these snacks because we were a bit bored, and... Since you're going to be staying for a while, I wanted you to try some..." She muttered out nervously, trying not to twiddle her fingers out of habit.

Todd was surprised by Chrysaorus waking up. He walked over to her bedside and placed a hand over hers. What was he going to do? That was the question the Queen had asked him. Was there really an answer to that?

"Well..." He started, "I could stay here with you, if you'd like that. But you have to sleep. Kolliah said so." He nodded, as if this helped confirm it.

"But if you'd like to make me go somewhere else, I can do that for you."

~

Walter nearly fell off his bed when he realized Kolliah had been with him the entire time.

"Christ, woman, you nearly startled me out of my skin!" He exclaimed, more surprised than angry by this, "Who is Jiirki, hm? He's a god from a land called Concordia. Nasty bugger, he is. He... I'm not sure what it is he does, exactly, but it's, well -- He does things, and then the things he does changes other things. I think he warps reality. The gods claimed he is a trickster. Not nice at all, no. He wiped my memories and he turned me into a freak."

((I apologize so hard for this post))

((It's okay, my posts aren't much different, sadly D:))

"I have to sleep, hmmm? And Kolliah said this?" Chrysaorus couldn't help but be atleast a little bit skeptical. She needed to sleep either way, though. She reached for the pillow nearest to her with her free hand, brought it towards her, and dug the side of her face into the soft object.

"I do appreciate your company, Todd. But you don't have to stay if you don't want to. I'm not going to force you to watch over me for three hours or so." He felt over his hand— the one that was placed over hers— one last time before gently falling into her slumber.

--

Kolliah popped up. She would have been regretful for spooking Walter, but instead she was giggling at his surprisedness. "I'm sorry, Walter! I said I would watch you, right?" She made a gleeful face, not like he could see it. "Jiirki, hmm? He sounds like a lot of trouble. Though, what do you mean by 'freak'? Were you not always like this?"

"You don't have to stay if you don't want to" she said, and with this she caused Todd to chuckle a bit. He would have told her that he'd stay with her regardless, that he absolutely wanted to do so, but before he could, she was asleep, her hand over his own, sandwiching it, in a way between her two.

In the back of his mind, he wondered how Walter and Sanade were doing.

~

"Jiirki's more than a lot of trouble," Walt admitted, "He's a lunatic, and I'm certain that by now, everything Todd and I fought so hard to protect has been destroyed..." He then went silent for a bit before he realized that Kolliah had asked him something else.

"I -- Hrm, well. I didn't have these claws before, and I couldn't see in the dark the way I can now. On top of that, I don't feel human anymore. I'm not supposed to be a cat thing. I'm supposed to be me!" He sighed and buried his face in his hands, "I'm sort of feeling like my entire being was violated. What made me myself was raped. Jiirki stole my humanity."

Sanade turned her head slightly, as if looking at something invisible in the room, then focused her attention on the young girl, her eyes turning into ones of curiousity. Sanade's hand reached over the girl's head, a shadow cast over the girl as she did. But that was all, Sanade simoly placed her hand on the girl's head and ruffled the hair, offering a strangely warm smile. Kids, how adorable. Especially if they didn't act like spoilt brats from Earth. That was what mattered the most. Their behaviour. "Of course I'd try one." Her free hand took one of the biscuits and her teeth clamped down on it. Sanade chewed on the crumbling cookie as it melted inside her mouth. It was admittedly quite good. She voiced out likewise to the girl. "You should make more of these. You and your friends are hella good at this."

Out of the corner of her eyes, she spied the exhibitionist from earlier, Walt, she reminded herself, enter his room. Her eyes immediately reverted to their sunken and dark malicious glare, as she touched the arm of her glasses and lifted it slightly and pushed the glasses back to her face, obscuring her eyes with the reflecting of the light. "Uno momento, my dear." She placed a finger on her lips at the girl and stepped out of the room, shutting he door behind her. Silently, she moved, almost gliding across the floor and pressed her ear against the door of this Walter. He was....talking...to someone? Huh.....curiouser and curiouser.

((I fell asleep. So sorry. D:

"How destructive..." Kolliah whispered in a response to the description given to her of this Jiirki person. She couldn't imagine a god messing with its own creation, nor could she find a plausible reason why he/she/it would be even doing so.

But this worried Kolliah. If there were some connections between worlds, and this Jiirki person was sending people to it, that would pose a major threat to Escherisa. She huffed, then continued to listen to Walter.

... Not like she could understand the feeling of being raped, though. "To me, it seems more like a benefit to take advantage of. But if it isn't so to you, then my apologies, Walter."

--

Reflexively towards the woman ruffling her hair, Drianne had her eyes closed and released them accordingly when she had stopped. She blinked, not quite knowing what the gesture meant but guessing that she liked her. She returned a gentle smile as she tried the treats she and the girls had made a while back.

"You should make more of these. You and your friends are hella good at this."

"Thanks!"

Drianne wasn't exactly afraid anymore. This Sanade person seemed nice enough. But, she wasn't sure what she was thinking afterward. She didn't know what "Uno momento" meant. But she stepped away from the door to let her through. Sanade moved silently, over to the door next to them. She wanted to ask what she was doing, but she was sure she was going to disrupt something.

Walter scoffed at Kolliah when she described his mutation as an "advantage". Advantage!?

"An advantage for who, Kolliah?! In case you forgot, I'm nuts! I could -- I could turn on Todd or Chrysaorus or anyone in a split second! My grip on reality? Not so great right now! Before, if I snapped, people could just take my katana from me -- But now? Now I have these!"

He got his claws out again, waving them around in the air for the goddess to see. Then he put them away and curled up.

"I'm sorry for snapping at you like that," He told her quietly "There's just been a lot of things happening at once, and I can't talk to anyone about it because I bet now they're gonna not want to come near me. I'm -- I'm surprised I've been let back into my room, even. I feel like I need to be locked away."

"Walter, do you have confidence issues?" Kolliah frowned, turning to him. "We just agreed to help you kick your insanity. Despite how dangerous it may be. Todd is your friend. He would understand. He wouldn't shun you because now you're a cat-person. And Chry? She cares about others more than she does herself. And that includes you, Walter. Why do you think she let you stay, let you eat, helped you get your memories back? Everything is going to be fine, Walter. Trust me."

"... I don't have confidence issues, I just --" Then he listened to what else Kolliah had to say and a sad smile crept along his face. No, she was right. They were his friends -- Well, Todd was. Chrysaorus, Walt still didn't know what to think of, though his opinion of her fell out of the negative when she helped him get his memories back. Now she was just... There. Maybe he should talk to her more.

His thoughts were everywhere, though, weren't they? Perhaps it was just part of his new state of mind.

"Alright, I believe you." He told her with a small sigh, still smiling a bit, "Thanks for the talk. I'm gonna go seek out Todd or Chry or someone. I'll definitely have to thank Chry anyway, whenever I see her."

He got up off the bed, stretching, then opened the door, wanting to talk to Todd. He did not expect to find Sanade right in front of his door. He let out a startled gasp, backing away a step and getting out his retractible claws. Then he realized who it was, exactly, and he relaxed, letting out a sigh of relief.

"Uh, what are you doing here, huh?" He asked, "Did you want to talk or something?"

He then realized that she may have just heard him talking to (to her) nobody at all. Dear god, he must have sounded like a lunatic to her!

Voices. Nay, just a voice. Only Walt's. He was....speaking to someone named Kolliah. Through a phone? Communications device? Some sort of fantasy-addled version of such a construct? Curious. Very curious. She turned slightly to look at the young girl from earlier, to whom her faeatures softened slightly as she made a hushing sound and pressed her ear onto the door harder, struggling to hear the words.

".....I'm nuts! I could -- I could turn on Todd or Chrysaorus or anyone in a split second! My grip on reality? Not so great right now! Before, if I snapped, people could just take my katana from me -- But now? Now I have these!"

Sanade quietly wondered what 'these' were. The rest of his words were quiet muttering, lost to the surrounding sound and the vastness of the room. Science, how she hated science. The sound dissipated more the larger the room was, and judging from her experience with her own room, this suite must be as large as hers and six times so than her quarters back home. As a result, Sanade shuffled slightly and pressed her ear even harder on the door, knocking her glasses askew slightly in the process.

"Thanks for the talk. I'm gonna go seek out Todd or Chry or someone. I'll definitely have to thank Chry anyway, whenever I see her."

Wait, were those footsteps? He'd gotten off the bed, sprang out from the luxurious sheets from the sound of it, and the footsteps, muffled as they were got closer to the door. Shit. Shitshitshitshitshit. Sanade pulled herself away from the door, and had only just taken a step away from Walt's room, before the door's knob turned and the grand door opened. Sanade spun around almost immediately, and her hand flew up to catch her glasses that fell from herface. She set them back, fumbling with them as Walter gave her a once-over, querying her presence.

"Wh-what I'm doing here? Hah...haha...funn-funny you should ask, uh, I-" Sanade's face flushed slightly. She had no lies to churn up, with nothing around her to help with this one, until her swivelling head and eyes fell on the treats that the young girl was holding. "Uh, hey! Yeah! This adorable kid and her friends made some treats earlier. I tried them, they're pretty swell. I ju-just wanted to ask if you wanted any."

Phew, dodged that bullet.
