The Good Ship (Flighter and Oit)

Walter looked bewildered for a second by Kolliah's question.

"What!" He asked, "What! What! What! Ridiculous! Proper bullcrap right there! Excuses? This not being about Chrysaorus? No, not at all! You are incorrect, madam!"

He then turned and headed to Chrysaorus's room, realizing he was still walking in the direction of Todd's room.

~

"Yes, my queen, it's me. I need nothing, of course." The servant who was supposedly named Aaron told Chrysaorus, "I was wondering, however, if her majesty may need something from me."

Todd stared at Aaron, still not quite sure about him.

Kolliah blinked several times in confusion from his reaction. “'What'? Walter, listen...” She acted with a regular proposing gesture, even if she wasn't to be seen doing so. “There's no reason to hate her in the first place. That reason itself was rediculous. I don't know if I'm incorrect because I don't know if you are being quite reasonable right now...” Seeing him turn back, she scratched the back of her hair, and pointed in his direction. “You do know that that's still the wrong direction, right?”

--

Chrysaorus' abashed face had lightened when he had answered back, verbally confirming that it was one of her servants, called Aaron. She didn't quite need anything, but... She wanted to check up on the two otherworldly newcomers as well as Drianne and the two girls that accompanied her in the feast, who had participated in liberating her from Abbessus' grasp. “I might, in fact, need something from you. There should be two people who reside in the guest rooms that need to be checked on. Also, be on the lookout for Drianne and two young girls that are of differing age but dress similarly in dresses, animal hoods, and striped socks...”

((I paused and thought for a moment and was like, "Does Chry even know about Airii and Eirii?..."))

((Ho ho ho hooo))

"What do you mean I'm going the wrong way? I'm going to Chrysaorus's room -- You said that's where Todd is!" Walter said with a huff, "I am just following your instructions!"

He continued walking this way, now a bit irritated at Kolliah.

"And for the record, it's not unreasonable! I am completely sure that I'm being reasonably sane right now!" He then added.

~

"Yes ma'am." Aaron answered the queen, giving her a low bow, then left immediately, closing the door behind him.

"I swear I know that guy." Todd muttered, staring at the closed door. When he left the area in search of these people, Aaron's form shifted back into its normal shape; The mad monkey-god, Jiirki. In a way, Todd had been oh-so-unfortunately correct.

Jiirki placed his hand against the wall as he walked down the hallway, sliding it across as he went, and as he did so, the spots on the wall where he touched morphed into cracked, bleeding flesh -- A ribbon of it across the wall, courtesy of the trickster god. Time to find Walter and some brats.

((Flight, I think I made a Kolliderp! D: //panics))

“Humm, my apologies. I had thought you were going the wrong way, still. I am not perfect. I am also sorry for seeming so... Opposing to you. But I can't read minds unless I am given permission to do so. Maybe, if you tell me what I'm not getting...?” Kolliah flew after Walter.

--

((AND THEN HE SAW HER FACE

Jerky what did you do to Aaron! You had better not have killed him! He was such an awesome servaaant!))

“Perhaps you have seen him wandering around the caste.” Chrysaorus said, “He does constantly move around more than the other servants.” Chrysaorus brushed her hair back and now begun thinking about what to do next. There was still the damage from Abbessus' misdeeds. And everything else was going to be taken care of by "Aaron". Maybe things had slowed down...

"What you're not getting, Kolliah, is that as a human being, it's hard to fully forgive someone for past... 'mistakes'." Walter growled, "I'm not mad about the memory thing. I'm perfectly happy knowing who I am and what my past is all about, even if it did cost me what was left of my sanity. I'm furious about the whole dungeon thing. I nearly died. Again." He then uttered one last thing under his breath.

"... And Todd and Chrysaorus are getting too close and I don't like it."

He kept walking, a quickness in his steps now, walking and walking until he reached and, after knocking a few times, let himself in to Chrysaorus's room.

"Walt!" Todd cried out in surprise, "What -- What are you doing here?!"

"Surprise! I came to visit!" Walt replied cheerily, only to receive a glare from Todd.

"You can't just come barging in like this."

"I knocked." Walter replied with a shrug and an impish smile growing on his face.

~

Jiirki decided to leave the other visitor alone for now. Whoever that may be, he or she was an extra. Not from Concordia, oh no, no sir. Instead, he decided to check on the children that he was told to go see. The god walked himself up to the ceiling and skipped along to Drianne's room. He continued running his hand down the wall and spreading the bleeding flesh. Red plants soon grew from the cracks in the flesh as well. Vines spread.

When Jiirki found the room he needed, he hopped down and knocked on the door, choosing to shift himself into the form of a small capuchin monkey wearing a fez and a red vest. Why not appeal to the younger children? Appearances are everything, as they say.

“But it wasn't--!” Kolliah stopped herself, taking to mind what he had first stated. If that were the case, she should let things unravel naturally, and not talk about it unless absolutely necessary. She kept following him through to Chrysaorus' room, and didn't say anything afterwards.

Chrysaorus looked up again as the door was knocked on, then opened a few seconds or so after. She wasn't expecting Walter to be the one to arrive at the door. “Oh, Walter. There you are. And you seem to be alright.” She smiled thankfully.

--

Drianne sat quietly within her cluttered room with a tray of newly made treats and snacks, all of which were snacks she learned about from the chefs in the castle. She wondered about what to do next, and maybe who to talk to. She let out an exasperated sigh, pushed herself off of her working chair, and headed for the door, until she heard the knock coming from it.

“One moment!” She moved through all the piles of clothing and apparel to reach the door. She opened it and looked up, more or less because most of the people who visited her were older and much taller than her, than realized that the visitor was actually shorter than her. It was some kind of monkey wearing a fez and a vest. She tilted her head at it. It was cute, but it was odd to see it in the castle. “Uhmm, how'd you get here?” She asked naively, taking up the monkey and holding it to her face.

Walter kept his smile, even when Chrysaorus decided to talk to him. The smile became a bit strained, though. perhaps even a bit forced.

"Alright enough." He told her through his teeth. Todd moved around Chrysaorus and put a hand on Walt's shoulder.

"You absolutely sure?" He asked.

"Jolly certain I am." Walter told Todd a bit more sternly. In return, Todd gave him a look.

~

Drianne picked Jiirki up, which the monkey-god certainly did not expect. She asked him how he got here. She asked a monkey that? What a strange child. Oh well, it was best not to disappoint such an inquisitive creature.

"I slipped through the cracks." Jiirki answered. his voice came out tiny from that little monkey body. Good. That was innocent enough, wasn't it?

Kolliah frowned unpleasantly, not liking the bitterness at all. She shrunk back behind Walter, doing nothing in particular but waiting.

Chrysaorus looked over what she thought was a staredown. She rose an eyebrow at the two. “Is there something I'm missing?” She asked them, quietly.

--

Drianne's eyes widened in surprise. Even if she had talked to the monkey, she hadn't expected a response from it. She put Jiirki down, and thought a bit more on what it said rather than it saying something. It could be magic! And with his clothes, it looked like someone owned him.

Cracks, though. In the castle? “What cracks?” She asked, looking down on him.

"I don't think so, Chrysaorus." Todd answered the queen, "though Walt may know better than the both of us if you're 'missing something'." He then raised a brow at the other man, who just shook his head in response.

"There's nothing wrong. I was just sort of wondering, Todd, why you didn't, oh, say, check on me. You know. To see if I was alright. Or anything at all, really."

"Walt," Todd said with a sigh, "Chry was unconscious. I had to make sure she was alright first."

Walter waved Todd off, a flash of anger appearing momentarily in his eyes.

~

Jiirki snickered, slipping out of Drianne's grip and climbing around and onto her shoulders.

"I slipped through the cracks of my universe and through your own." He told her, "I'm here to be your friend, little girl."

He gave her a grin, showing her all of his sharp little monkey teeth.

“To be frank with you, Walter, I did send a servant to check up on you. If I had known you'd react like this, I'd send him off with you instead of watching over me.” Chrysaorus put her hands into her lap nicely, to avoid putting too much stress on them. “Though, are you sure that you're alright, Walter...”

--

Drianne looked at Jiirki blankly for a few moments, unsure of what to think of his responses, until she shrugged it off and nodded. “Okay! We can be friends. What's your name?”

"I am just the peachiest of keen, thank you very much." Walter told Chrysaorus with a glare, "Now if you'll excuse me, I'll just head over to wherever I may end up. If your servant finds me, then, well, good. Great."

He then walked out.

Todd glanced at Chrysaorus.

"That was weird. He's usually not like this." Todd told the queen, raising a brow in his confusion.

~

Jiirki grinned harder at the question.

"Oh, I don't have a name, really. I can always be given one, however, little girl. Little... What's your name, by the way?"

Chrysaorus looked over at Todd with an almost sad expression. “That was weird.” She stood up from her bed with her hands held infront of her. “Do you think I should confront him?”

Kolliah kept following Walter, wherever he may be going. “Don't you think you could have said 'thank you'? Despite your dislike for her?”

--

“My name is Drianne.” Drianne told the monkey. “I'm not that good at naming things. Hmmm...”

She took a moment to think deeply about a name for her 'new friend'. Nothing seemed to come into her head besides one that had struck her over and over, like it was meant to be it's name. She nodded, smiling at him.

“How about Jiirki? That's like, a cute name for a monkey.”

((DATABASE ERRROORRRRRR!!))

((RIGHT??))

"Normally I'd say 'go for it'," Todd told Chrysaorus, "But Walter's a damned lunatic right now. I say only talk to him if you're prepared to defend yourself. For all I know, he might attack you."

It made Todd sad to have to admit that. Walter was so unwell at the moment that it was really that much of a possibility. Walter might attack the queen, and if that were to happen... Well. Todd didn't want to think about that.

~

Walter continued walking blindly, not really caring where he was headed.

"Of course not!" He answered Kolliah, "I have nothing to thank her for! Besides the memory thing! Whatever, too late for that now!"

~

Jiirki bristled up when the girl somehow ended up naming him his name. The god was bewildered by the child's strange ability. It was intriguing, though depending on what, exactly, it may be, it could become problematic.

"Why not something else, Drianne?" Jiirki pushed through clenched, grinning teeth.

“I think I might as well. I don't want his behavior to get worse.” Chrysaorus hobbled over to the door and opened it so she could pass through. The castle was almost always lit with light, so she could probably defend herself in a tango with him. A fight wouldn't be what she would want, though, so retaliating in any way would ruin everything. “Wish me luck?” She gave Todd a wave, and ran off to go pursue Walter.

--

“It's not too late. I'm sure she'll feel better if you thank her!” Kolliah insisted, keeping up with his walking pace. “How long will it take for you to get over this?”

--

Drianne tilted her head. “You don't like it? I thought it was perfect...” Well, it was just a name. She tried to think of another, albeit it was quite difficult, so she borrowed the name of something else. “George then? Is George okay?”

Chrysaorus was right, of course. If they did nothing, Walt's behavior would only get worse and worse.

"Luck." Todd told the queen, a sadness in his voice. While he knew the importance of this, Todd also knew fully well that Chrysaorus was at risk if she were to talk to him alone. If he came with, however, Chrysaorus would have no personal impact on Walt.

~

Walter stopped and seemingly thought about Kolliah's question.

"Hmm... Uhh, I'd say about sixty-six-and-a-half years." He answered, "Give or take, because by then I'll either have forgotten all about it, or I'll be dead." He then nodded.

~

"George is perfect." Jiirki told Drianne while fiddling with a lock of her hair, "What do you plan to do now, Drianne? What are you going to have happen next?"

Chrysaorus marched, then, into the hallway that led to her room. She kept a pace of a run-walk, for she wasn't exactly the most fit to run, on account of her being quite fragile and unexposed to much fitness. Her hands kept going front and back from her sides to keep this speed, and with a bit of breathing through her mouth to keep a steady supply of oxygen for her body, she managed to scale a wide-enough distance from her room. He shouldn't have gotten further than she was now. “Walter?” She called. “Are you there?”

--

“So you mean never?” Grief took over Kolliah. She thought it would be easy enough taking care of Walter and his emotions. She didn't want him to hate Chrysaorus for her own mistake... Rather, Abbessus' mistake. She hung her head in shame. “Okay then, Walter...” She whispered. But then, Chrysaorus' voice had made itself audible, and her head popped back up. Had Chrysaorus come to settle things with Walter? She sure hoped so.

--

Drianne thought of the question for a bit. What was she going to do next? Up until now she had been thinking about that very question... And, for the most part, thought she would be making clothes until she felt tired and slept. But now that she had this companion with her, named George, she couldn't do that. It wouldn't be very enjoyable to watch, she thought. “Hmm... I guess... I guess I'm going to talk to the other servants...” She said, quietly.

Walter's brows furrowed when he felt the utter disappointment and sadness hanging from Kolliah's words. He was about to say something about that, but then Chrysaorus interrupted them with a small "are you there". Walter immediately turned and located her.

"What? What is it?" He asked her in a somewhat rude tone.

~

Jiirki burrowed his tiny monkey paw into Drianne's hair until he was touching the back of her head. He was connected to her now, and like that, he could twist her like he could twist any other sort of mortal in Concordia.

"Why would you talk to them, Drianne? They're not worth your time, surely." He told her, "Not when you have ol' George to keep you company. To be your... Friend."

He grinned at her, once again showing all those sharp teeth.

Chrysaorus turned quickly to face Walter, not quite knowing he was there until he said something. She approached him, but managing herself not to go so fast. “I want to talk to you, Walter. You're acting strange.” She stated with a hand held out. “If you would just let me? I'm not going to hurt you.”

Kolliah looked back at Chrysaorus. She was stunned, and didn't know what to say, but she knew what she felt. Which made her glad, but worried.

--

Drianne felt a bit odd when she was touched on the back of her head. Reflexively, she stood there and felt over her head, but nothing seemed to be wrong.

In a way, she thought, George was kind-of right. She didn't need the servants. She had George as a companion. She could save time that way. “I guess you're right then, George. But what should I do besides hanging with you?”

Walter stared at the hand as Chrysaorus held it in front of them both. A part of him wanted to smack it away. Another part wanted to hold it against the wall and cut it off.

"Not hurt me?" He asked with a forced grin, "But why? After all, you've just so good at hurting me."

His stare then turned into a glare.

~

With the hand on Drianne's head, Jiirki was able to pick the girl's brain for any useful information. Ah, she was friends with Todd? Well, that was most interesting. He could, perhaps use this. Jiirki, with a grin on his face, thought of the chaos he knew he could cause.

He kept his hand on her head, then spoke to her.

"Why don't we see your good friend, Todd, hmm?" Jiirki "suggested". He had plans for Todd, and he had plans for this little Drianne girl that he was able to latch on to.

Chrysaorus promptly shook her head. “Whatever I do to hurt you is not intentional. Nor is it enjoyable. ” She responded to the glare with a face of concern. He hated her, didn't he? That had to be it. She kept her hand out, an offer to make up, with the split faith that he might take it.

--

“Todd?” Drianne didn't know how he had known about Todd. She nodded, though, heading for the door. “I don't exactly know where he is, but I have an idea. You want to meet him, George?” Drianne pulled the door open and headed out.

Walter continued staring at the hand for a short while before taking it and squeezing it a little too tightly.

"You tell me something, 'your majesty'." He hissed through bared teeth, "You tell me something, and you have to give me the real and honest answer. Do you like Todd? In the way he obviously likes you?"

He did not let go of her hand. In fact, he tightened his grip further the minute his lips formed the word "obviously".

~

"I do want to meet him, little Drianne." Jiirki told the girl, adjusting himself so he had a better grip on her shoulders when she began to walk. He then leaned in and whispered in her ear.

"I'm going to make Todd better. More fun. More soft. More huggable. I'm going to make him a fluffy puppy. And you're going to help me, little girl, little girl. You're going to help me making everything better."

He let out a tiny cackle.

Chrysaorus wasn't expecting the harshness that came with the handshake. She winced. Walter was being quite demanding now.

If she liked Todd? Of course she did; why wouldn't she like him? She enjoyed his company, his handiness, his, well... Point being made, the answer was yes. But, with the way Walter made emphasis on obviously, it became a whole new question. And she knew what was meant by this. Only a little bit.

The wincing became accompanied with a grimace, and she answered. “Yes. I do like Todd. But in the context of the question... I don't know. I don't know how much Todd likes me. I like him like I do all of my servants and maids. Is this an appropriate answer?”

--

Drianne walked happily through the castle. She would have skipped if it weren't for Jiirki sitting on her shoulder. She climbed up the stairs, up to Chrysaorus' personal hallway, reaching where she had believed Todd had been.

There was no other place she thought he'd be in, besides his room. She knocked on the door to Chrysaorus' room and yelled inside, “Umm, Todd are you in there?”

((I have to get ready. o vō so I rushed and stuff))

"Like all her servants and maids" She had told Walter. That was how much she liked Todd. Like a damned helper monkey. Walter's grip on Chrysaorus's hand loosened until it was no more, and his hand dropped to his side. He kept his glare, but along with it grew a satisfied smile.

"Appropriate indeed." He told her alongside a slow and low chuckle. He felt better, knowing that she didn't care about Todd in that way. He didn't want anyone to like Todd like that. He already filled that role quite nicely, thank you very much. He couldn't help but be the jealous boyfriend to a man who cared for him more platonically than anything. Woe.

~

"Yeah, hang on!" Came a voice from inside Chrysaorus's room, and Todd opened the door and greeted Drianne with a smile that lasted about two seconds. After that, he had spotted the creepy little monkey in the vest and fez and stared at it uneasily. Todd scratched the stubble on his cheek for a bit before speaking, never taking his eyes off of the monkey.

"Uh... Hey, Drianne. Who's your new little friend?"

Jiirki sneered at Todd but did not say a word.

Chrysaorus grabbed her arm after Walter had chose to let go. It was red from the pressure, and it still stung. Right now, Chrysaorus wasn't sure what Walter was thinking. From what he said, it sounded like he had accepted her answer. But the reason? And why was he chuckling like that?

“Are you... Alright now?” She asked, slowly.

--

“Who's your new little friend?”

“Oh, George?” Drianne looked over at George then turned back to face Todd. “This is George. He's my friend. Apparently he wanted to see you! George, what was it that you wanted again?” Drianne seemed so cheery about the whole matter.

Walter held his smile. She asked him if he was alright now, and though it dropped a bit, the smile still remained, and the glare lessened in intensity and malice.

"I'm completely fine, Chrysaorus. Chry. I'll just call you Chry from now on. Chrysaorus is a mouthful, if you ask me." He told her. He drummed his fingers on the wall for a moment of awkward silence, before Walter remembered something.

"Oh, my hand." He thought aloud, though the tone was somewhat dull, as if he had simply forgotten to bring a pencil for something, "I injured my hand. Kolliah said you could help fix it. Can you?"

~

Jiirki made the normal chitterings of a capuchin monkey, refusing to speak in front of Todd. If the boy knew he could talk, it could give him away completely.

"... Okay, so George wanted to see me, and now wants something from me?" He forced a smile and a little laugh, "Kind of a demanding sort of monkey, isn't he?"

Jiirki chittered again.

"Well, what do you want, George?" Todd asked the monkey to humor Drianne, who must be excited about her new pet... Who seemingly came out of nowhere? George leaped onto Todd's shoulders, causing him to yelp a bit, startled.

"Uh, where'd you get George, Drianne?" Todd asked -- Before the Jiirki located where Todd was bitten - his forearm - and bit into that area, himself. Todd yelped again, only this time it was from the pain of the bite.

"Goddamn it, Drianne!" He yelled, "Keep your freaking monkey under control, alright??"

Jiirki let out another chitter, this time sounding a bit like a laugh.
