Universe rcz00123.

It was just an empty, endless, space of nothing. No light, no sound, no life, no death…just nothing. Not even darkness, if one could call it that, for light has yet to exist. Just a blank, seemingly “infinite”, canvas of void. Was it black? Was it white? You tell me. In this abyss where nothing existed, nothing moved and nothing changed for who knows how long. Since it was first created by the SUPREME one, probably. When? Why? How? No one knows. It simply did.

Then, one “day”, somewhere in the void of absolute stillness and nothingness, something stirred. A midnight-haired woman appeared, as if glitching into existence. A surprisingly small figure, like a speck, within the vast emptiness that was Universe rcz00123, yet she introduced many things that weren't just "nothing" into the world. An anomaly. Donned in formal office wear (black suit, slacks, white dress shirt, and plain blue tie), she checked her watch–one of many she wore. The hand, that had been previously still, started to move. Tick tock, tick tock.

As soon as Khalandis, goddess of Time, Record, Wish, and Creation stepped into the Universe she’d been assigned to, [TIME] came into existence and started to move forward.

Nodding in a satisfied manner, blue eyes roamed her vast, empty surroundings, and Khalandis sighed. What now? It was her first time handling such a big project and she wasn’t sure where to begin. Should start by bringing light into the Universe? Make stars? How many? What about a sky? Clouds? trees? What did a normal Universe start with? For some reason, even though she’d read, organized, and filed the designs of many beautiful, godly projects while in Heaven, Khalandis was drawing a blank about what to do next.

Maybe she should just wait for the others. She wasn’t the only god assigned to Universe rcz00123, after all.

Crappy name. Just a randomized string of letters and numbers the A.H.G. came up with. If it were up to her, she would’ve come up with something more creative, but there was little point complaining to her Boss about it and, truthfully, Khalandis didn’t care enough to. She had more important things to worry about. Not only was it her first time being assigned such a big project–the creation and running of an entire Universe–, it was her first time leading a Team of gods to do so. Gods. Fellow beings of power all from different Universes and all with different temperaments. She’d read their divine profiles. Some of them had even more experience than she did. Should she start things off with a conference room and round of introductions like how human meetings usually went?

Would they even like tea?

Chairs?

Feeling the desire to pace a little, Khalandis created a large [ROCK] beneath her feet. Willed it into existence with a simple [WISH]. It wasn’t anything extravagant. Just a big, very big, rock floating in an otherwise empty space of nothingness for her to stand on--one with enough mass to exert a minor gravitational pull. She checked the time.
cnrq63wuwgf81.jpg
Khalandis then pulled out what looked to be a smartphone from her back pocket and updated her notes while she waited for other gods of creation that had been assigned to Universe rcz00123 to arrive. She turned on her phone's timer, and recorder, as well.

Eclipso. ( Squad141 Squad141 )

Dudos. ( Venchi1986 Venchi1986 )

Hundun. ( Nellancholy Nellancholy )

Fantinus. ( Damafaud Damafaud )

Vesa. ( Karcen Karcen )

Bellanelle. ( GrieveWriter GrieveWriter )

They all should’ve been notified about this divine meeting. Hopefully they wouldn’t be late. Khalandis disliked tardiness. What if they didn’t show? Would she have to design the Universe rcz00123 all on her own? Create everything by herself? How long would that take? The thought filled Khalandis with exhaustion. If anyone knew anything about the young goddess of Time, Record, Wish, and Creation, it was that she disliked overwork nearly as much as she disliked wasting time. She’d do what she had to in order to finish her job, of course…

…but she wouldn’t like it.

For now Khalandis occupied her time by deciding how big the rock beneath her feet ought to be. The bigger the rock, the slower time--displayed on her phone's timer--moved. The smaller the rock, the faster time seemed to move. That was one of the rules most gods who possessed her domain adhered to when creating a Time Stream, after all. Time Dilation. Even though the temporal stream was consistent and always moved forward, it was also fluid. The rate at which it ebbed and flowed could change depending on one's relative motion, position in the gravitational field...or whatever Khalandis wanted really. She was the one who would be making and managing it, after all. In fact, she already had.

GM Notes
The time has come to introduce your god! Make their entrance into Universe rcz00123 as flashy (godly) or as plain as you want. Add whatever you want into the Universe and, if you can, try to make note of what world-impacting things character does so it's easier for me to organize...but that's not required as I will be reading all of your posts anyway =P Remember, posting rules require one post per week and gods cannot create anything of equal level or stronger than themselves or other player gods. Join Khalandis on her rock. Don't join Khalandis. Make your own rock(s). Fill this boring universe of nothingness with life, light, laughter, etc or chat with other gods, giving your godly advice/wisdom . Most importantly, have fun~

The smell of sandalwood incense and the monotonous strumming of a lute wafted through the private chamber the goddess of shadows, physick, and those who venture forth by night inhabited. About two arm spans by two arm spans in area, it was a nice and cosy place that the herald of darkness often used to wait out the aeons. Against one wall was a desk, on which currently sat a vessel resembling a fishbowl, and over which hung several finely-painted and written scrolls.

By said desk sat Hundun, her fingers tented as she observed it silently. Countless supernovas had ignited, and even more stars turned to black dwarves across the multiverse since she had sat down to observe. The subspace dimension of shadow she had created in the fishbowl had grown nicely, a little project to work on between universes. The beings within were microscopic, at least to her scale, and propagated ever so slowly, influenced by the climate in the room that she gradually influenced through every particle or vibration she allowed in. Presently they had formed into some kind of lattice, trawling for sustenance across the fishbowl like a net.

"..."

Picking up a burning incense stick, Hundun tapped it against the rim of the fishbowl like a cigarette, letting the burning ash alight on the surface of the mass of shadow. The ash would likely land on the bottom of the fishbowl in a few millennia, whereupon the inhabitants would no doubt find it welcome sustenance.

Presently, a candle mounted on the wall ignited, piercing the darkness of the room. Hundun blinked at the light, her irises slowly narrowing to adjust to the unwelcome intruder. Still, she couldn't get too mad. That was the alarm she'd set for herself, after all. Her dessicated tendons and muscles stretched as she flexed in her chair, getting up.

It was time to work. And to think she hadn't gotten to avail herself of her bed yet...

Nonchalantly she reached out, pinching the candle's flame between her forefinger and thumb to extinguish it.

Stiff as always, she walked towards a vacant wall of the room and stood still, whereupon a sliding paper door appeared and creaked open, allowing her to step out onto Universe rcz00123.

Her dainty shoes clicked quietly as she alighted on the rock Khalandis had created, the door sliding closed behind her and vanishing into the void.

"..."

She offered Khalandis no more than a nod of acknowledgement before throwing her arms open. With a woosh, a desk and two chairs just like the one she had in her room appeared before them, alongside a wide, blank scroll, several brushes, and an inkwell.

Taking a seat in one chair, she flashed Khalandis a thin smile...probably beckoning her towards the other chair.

In an uncharacteristic display of initiative, Hundun proceeded to dip a brush in the ink before holding it up...and tracing Khalandis' outline in the air. Turning the brush around, she swiftly did the same as well. Drops of ink flew forth from the brush, almost seeming to...settle around the two gods.

This was solidity. This was form. This was...the template for how shadows were to be cast in this world.

Once one of the other gods would bother to separate light and darkness from one another, they and everything else would begin to cast shadow. And the stronger the light, the longer each shadow would always be...

Satisfied with having dictated one of the first laws of the world, Hundun set the brush down for now, content to wait for the other gods to show up.

Or maybe she was just waiting because that was what she was good at.

Dudos spent a lot time deciding how to enter Universe rcz00132, at least from his point of view. With how many Gods that controlled time there were in the A.H.G. he had no idea how long it was for someone else. He rejected his first idea to just jump out of the water upon realizing that the only water was in the personal room of one of the other Gods. Eventually he gave up on trying to come up with something dramatic and just walked into the Universe. He appeared as if he simply walked out from behind a corner and looked around the "infinite" blankness for any sign of his new coworkers. Of course given the size of universes he saw nothing.

While Dudos figured that just by walking long enough, even though it would take millions of years, he would find something that would take way too long. Of course he could use that time to work on the [MAGIC] system as well as the [WEATHER] but without mortals or even planets around yet there was no immediate need and besides he wanted to create something more efficient that didn't require him walking through the Universe constantly if at all possible.

He pondered this conundrum for a while until he got the idea of magically [TELEPORTING] to the nearest other God. After all as far as he knew no one had Space as a Domain so he was unlikely to upset anyone by doing so. Only a few milliseconds after he had the idea Dodus found himself on Khalandis' rock, hoping he wasn't the last to arrive.

It turned that while he wasn't the last he wasn't the first either as aside from Khalandis herself there was some blue skinned Goddess working on a scroll. Not wanting to bother someone during their work Dudos decided to remain quiet until she was done. As soon as the brush was put down though he copied her act a little. He waved one of his hands around, sending drops of salt water flying before they all collected in the same spot and took the form of a simple chair made of seawater.

It was always strange, entering a new universe. The transition between the space between spaces and another reality felt weird in the head, and Eclipso wondered how it might damage a mortal to try it. Shivering, he removed that thought from his current head, that being a depiction of the sun, and grabbed hold of an oval doorknob. Every year the door was different, which always had some sort of meaning about the universe. But for him, it was always the same: an older, white-washed door with various scratches and an opal oval doorknob. Sighing, Eclipso stepped through, and next to the rock that currently was the center of the universe.

He recognized Hundun, working on the templates for personal shadows. Eclipso didn't know much about the gods he was working with, but he really hoped they wouldn't be like last time. So many unnecessary wars with no satisfying outcomes, planets becoming ash, stars going out.

Stars...

Eclipso looked up and down in the completely white space. This, of course, wouldn't do.

Eclipso didn't make a chair or reading material. He started off strong, by raising his unopened umbrella into the air, and stabbing the space above him. Slowly, a stain of black trickled into the infinite white of the universe, inverting its color to one Eclipso was accustomed to. Then, he opened the umbrella. If one were to stand where Eclipso stood and look up, they might think that there were several holes in the object. But as he spun the umbrella around, these dots shot up and down and all around, creating millions of stars, all equal distances from one another, across the local universe.

A sky full of stars... that was always a good start. With a final flourish, Eclipso put his hands together and created one last star, one closer to where everyone met. Then he created a planetoid object, and its moon. This is where they could start, and simply build outward.

Bellanelle

6b2563f6d5b635a505b647fc409fd8b9.jpgThe clickity clack of keyboards had long since become a constant drone for Bellanelle

Sat in a sparse cubicle with walls that were mostly bare save for the framed photograph hanging nearby. It was mostly obscured thanks to the glare of the screen in front of Bellanelle, on it was the constantly updating records for Universe xl589. It was being updated constantly, mostly with information about the things being created and the results of their creation. A mortal received a blessing? Added to the records. That Blessed mortal was now rampaging across galaxies with a fleet of fanatical followers? Put it in the records.

Though every Universe tended to have different methods of keeping record, they all wound up getting fed up the pipeline to the A.H.G. And Bellanelle was just one of a countless number of Spell-Checks, whose entire purpose was to go over the records and condense and refine them as much as possible before they could be sent up for storage.

It was for this reason that the Cubicles never seemed to end. Just an endless stretch of office space through some form of 'in-between' where the A.H.G could keep certain faculties.n

Bellanelle was just one of the many clockwork souls that populated this particular wing of A.H.G functionality. While any being could be saddled with tasks such as theirs, the mechanical nature of the Clockwork Souls were more suited to such droning work than most mortals were. Bellanelle had even spent some time in the maze of filing cabinets the edited records ended up in, which was at least more physically stimulating than Spell-Check.

While many of her brothers and sisters adapted to the work with gusto, she had found it far too dull for her liking. Which was why the sense of giddy anticipation grew so rampantly within her clockwork frame, her gears spinning just a little faster and the ticking of her parts occurring more frequently. Any second now, they would be swapping her out for something new. And she wasn't going back to the filing department.

No, any second now she would become just like her father.

Her head swiveled around towards the framed photograph on her wall. The only decoration she'd managed to get in her cubicle and the only one that truly mattered. On it was the image of numerous metals fused together into the shape of something that just barely resembled a hand. A hand composed of machinery archaic and advanced alike all molded together, reaching out from a sea of warped metals below.

"I'll make you proud, father." Bellanelle nodded more to herself than anything else "I'll be-"

"Ahem." someone cleared their throat behind her, making Bellanelle swivel her head around before beaming.

"Norus?"

yeongjin-jeon-commissioner-bg-jp1.jpgAnother Clockwork Soul was staring at her from the entrance to her Cubicle, his even red glare focused past her. His own ticking was distinct to her's, short and steady clicks that were spaced out from one another.

"It is you!" Bellanelle practically stood from her chair, though her hands kept tapping away at her keyboard. She quickly turned to make sure she hadn't missed any grammatical errors, only to curse under her breath as she moved back up to correct them. Norus still hadn't said anything, staying still as a statue as he watched Bellanelle complete her corrections. Only when she had caught up with the record did she turn back to him.

"I haven't seen you since..." she trailed off for a moment, eyes briefly flitting towards the framed picture on the wall "Well, how have you been?"

"Irrelevant." Norus stated "You are expected at new designation, D17. Relocate and fulfill new mission parameters."

"Oh, you're my replacement then?" she asked as she stepped away from her keyboard for the first time in forever "I never would've guessed, surely higher admin would recognize the potential of a soul such as yourself!"

"Irrelevant." Norus repeated as he stepped past her and took her seat at the cubicle "Relocate, D17. It is your prerogative."

"Good to see you haven't changed much." she gave a sigh of relief before taking the photograph off the wall and clutching it to her chest
"Would you like... to catch up a bit? There's no telling how long it'll be until we see each other a-"

"No, relocate." Norus stated, already settling into his new role. His hands were faster than her perception could keep track of, already he'd managed to outpace the record itself and had to pause and let it fill up every other second so he could continue reviewing it.

Bellanelle nodded at his words, stepping away from the cubicle with her photograph before pausing, "It was good to see you too..."

Traversing the sea of spell-checkers, Bellanelle made a few stops before her destination. She was to become a god, a full one, almost like her father. She was to command dreams, just like she had when working under him! But not just them. As a Creation God, one of those who actually starts the construction of a new universe, she had more than just one domain to oversee. She was the master of Innovation as well, spreading ideals and granting inspiration to any and all mortals that would come to populate it.

And also machines, a domain she would take great care of. It was the primary domain of her father in his days, and he was known to be one of the best at such things.

Which was why, when she finally stepped out into the great stretch of nothingness that was universe rcz00123, she felt no small amount of anticipation building in her chassis. But she had no time to be awed by the extent of the job before her, there was work to be done, and much of it. She would not be the only god to begin the new universe of course, such teams often came in a minimum of five. Well, the new ones did. As she knew it, back in her fathers day there were only three major gods at the beginning of their universe.

Having pulled a small wand from a slit in her leg, Bellanelle set out to take stock of what had already been created by her peers.

As it turned out, not much really.

The Universe was still a big stretch of nothing, with no end in sight. No planets, no celestial bodies, not even darkness graced the emptiness of space yet. It just was, though Bellanelle was quick to realize that time was at least passing so far.

There was no telling where exactly her peers were congregating, so Bellanelle was quick to test her own powers of [CREATION]. Of course, that was a domain she had never had access to before, so she would have to draw upon what she knew other Creation gods had done to utilize their powers. But of course, there was only one who she would mimic in this regard. She reached out a hand and turned her palm up before [BECKONING], miming an action she'd seen countless times before.

She beckoned for a chair and soon it was there, a simple metallic seat floating in a vast empty place.

Sitting herself upon it, Bellanelle [BECKONED] again, forming walls into a room around that chair. Soon she was in a white metal box, which sprouted gears and pistons internally until the walls were lined with them.

She had begun her [ MECHANIST'S WORKSHOP] a fun trinket that she made use of during her time serving her father. She would have to move it once the universe really got going, but for now she simply stretched it out. Hallways formed from the walls, spreading out and connecting until she had a sizeable structure of pointless machinery. She would leave it bare for now, she had plenty of time for decorations once life had been brought.

But even with that thought in mind, she waved her wand until a framed portrait appeared in her grasp. The picture of the giant mechanical hand, of her father, was hung in the heart of the workshop. It was where he would want to be.

With the Workshop started and her father given a brief thanks for all he had taught her, Bellanelle set off into the halls. With a wave of her wand she stepped out of her Workshop and tore another realm into existence. The [DREAMSCAPE] was born, a place often filled with the thoughts and dreams of mortals. But without mortals, the Dreamscape was almost as barren as the new universe, just a sea of hazy gray that was almost impossible to navigate.

Thankfully, Bellanelle had no need to navigate such a place. During her tenure as a minor god of Dreams, she had already gotten familiar with using the Dreamscape for transportation. Its status as a realm beyond meant it could open potentially anywhere, and an adept dream god such as Bellanelle had no problem tearing it open again and depositing herself onto the great big rock that it seemed most of her peers had entered on.

She must've been working on her workshop longer than she thought, as one of her peers had darkened space by the time she emerged. Not just that, but stars and even a planet near the center.

"Oh, seems the work has begun already." she noted whilst slipping from the Dreamscape, sliding out of a gray tear that vanished just as quickly as she disembarked "Good good, the core tenets are already moving in order, nothing out of place so far."

With a wave of her wand, a thick portfolio appeared in her grasp, which she lugged over to where the other gods had begun to assemble. Although, once she actually gave them focus, she found that there were only four others at the time. Four other gods.

Her throat briefly clammed up as her eyes ticked, going from one to another. Seemed they had three humans. No, not exactly. Two human types and one living human corpse made up the first of the divinity she was to be partnered with. There was only one male amongst them, though his appearance fit more of the classical Divinity that Bellanelle was familiar with. Besides him, the dead girl and the girl in the suit must've come from two completely different origins if their distinct clothing was anything to go by. Besides the human types was the one bearing a depiction of the sun for a head.

They were her team, and Bellanelle had to keep from choking up at how real being near them made everything.

She steadied herself, made her gears tick slower as she approached and waved her wand again. The Portfolio spread open in her grasp, cycling through its contents as she turned and pointed her wand towards herself.

"Bellanelle at your service, it seems we are to be in league with one another for the duration of this endeavor. Marvelous." She left the wand and portfolio floating in front of her so she could give a brief applause, then took hold of them once more "Now, if we're to make any headway on this project and keep a good timetable, I made sure to bring along a selection of Universal Templates for Creation from which we can start from."

With another wave of the wand, the contents of the Portfolio flew out, pages and diagrams of numerous different universes and celestial bodies, races and the like.

"Now I'd do my father a disservice to imply such things are stringent rules, but we mustn't let the beginning of our project be too wild or else it'll be harder to untangle later, trust me." she reached out her free hand to the planet before them
"For instance."

She crushed her hand into a fist and [SHRANK] the planet until it matched the size of the one they were on.

"There's no telling how far our focus will have to spread once we're a bit of a ways in." She spun her finger around, making the planet and the moon it was now only slightly bigger than start spinning around each other as they traveled around the sun "Perhaps we consider a phase of testing things out first, make a few celestial wonders before making things that could yearn to understand them?"

She turned back to her peers, folding her hands behind her back as she found her gaze traveling from one star to another.

VESA
Domains: Life, Death, Souls, creation

latest

Vesa had been working on her next ideas for her next world, a new world a new experience. It was nice to remember your first, but it was best to not try to remake it over and over that lead to boredom and madness. Vesa had met a few gods that were all about remaking what they had, or making things perfect. They always tended to fall to madness and then seek to destroy what they made until they were sent for counseling. Still it was nice to keep some themes here and there. Aside from half planning things Vesa had been relaxing the last universe had been a long one and the end rather stressful. No one got how hard it could be to be death and deal with all the clean up after the party was over. Either way it was time to start anew.

Vesa had plenty of experience in the starting of universes so knew to look before the leapt into the world. If you didn't you tended to end up in the ass end of know where in the nothing that didn't exist. Not every god even thought of not appearing in the void , but that wasted time and Vesa was ready to get going. SO after a little peeking into the universe without fully manifesting Vesa would find the meeting room and was a little disappointed, it seemed the business types were in charge for now. Well perhaps they just needed a little help in letting lose, an orderly universe was a boring universe.

In the meeting room the floor split and cracked, not much of it but enough for a plant to sprout. The little sprout grew and grew becoming a thick tree in mere moments. The tree rested for only a moment as from the center of the trunk a pair of skeletal hands emerged and started to pull the tree apart. The tree split down the middle from top to bottom, yet remained connected creating a oval shape the size of an average mortal. upon the trunk of the split tree many vines grew to cover it and flowers bloomed each filled with a deadly poison. Then from the void between the two halves of the tree a wavering veil formed made seemingly of twisting souls . With the veil of souls came a cacophony of whispers speaking in countless languages.

Finally Vesa emerged from the veil her body half dead half alive her horns mismatched, her robes flowing with the own life as every movement brought forth life from the dead ground then killed it. The skulls that lined her robe seemed to almost have a glow in their sockets as if despite being long dead they still saw. The entrance was perfect in Vesa's mind something to impress the others a bit and show she knew what she was doing. Vesa having listened in a little had caught the last bits of what the mechanical goddess said, or well she had said more so Vesa was a bit out of date.

" A wild start often makes for better stories, slaying a giant to make the world, speaking it into being, the primordial nothing birthing the living embodiments that then fight. They are all such fun stories" Vesa said as she almost glided out of the portal and towards the table. " Just starting is always better than planning it all out for me" She said knowing some would want the world to be completely ordered and having been in a few where everything was defined by boring rules and logic.

" If we are going to be planning we should at least have some fun while doing it" She continued and with a wave of her hand large steins appeared before each god and filled themselves with a frothy mead. " Rather than a boring board meeting how about we make the start of this party a party?" Vesa asked lifting her own stein that appeared in her hand and taking a large gulp " Oh and" She pointed at the shrunken world which erupted in greens, yellows, reds and a few others colors " There a standard assortment have fun making them different" She said before sitting down into a chair which changed into a combination of recliner and throne.

Fantinus the Storyteller

RPcJ54_xjAYS5QotMdl0mxxE8MaTOoW4Gzg-FF6I4bZM56W__HI-E06XYW5VHwX2YDBEWrfi7bbKine6nZXCzcChaTrlmHEL3Hf7Yg

Story, Hero, Identity, Creation

Fantinus came from the future beyond. His bioplastic joints crackled and creaked through still space and boredom. He grinned without teeth; his form allowed no such movement, like a vacuum that allowed no sound, but the green and violet and scarlet and moss and azure was a God. The void and stars sang when he appeared; a part dimmed and contorted and died. A star nestled and warmed and fell asleep. Many clustered like royal attendants to the palace, bowing and dancing for a royal music that dabbed and whispered from the presence of the Storyteller.

A story started when a storyteller began.

Fantinus appeared below the other Gods and the sole planet stood between them. The planet, in contrast to the universe, did not hymned at his arrival. The Storyteller ran his eyes wide, eyeless as he was, and laughed. Scale-like shapes over his presence shimmered and glimmered with stories unquantified by stars alone. They popped like the green and yellow and red beyond. He swooshed. His tail and body and self, swooshed, and colors on the rock turned and changed.

"The predecessors proceeded."

Colors turned. Blue into deep blue that sunk deep and overflowed into an ocean. Red that buried deep to the core for magma. Forest luscious green, cold northern and southern end, animals, eagles and sheep and chickens and wolves flying across the land over. The Gods over would see everything unraveling at a rapid pace.

Yet, they were incomplete; the fish that occupied the ocean grew and died without reason. Trees grew lush, yet animals slowly disappeared to the forest floors. Worse still faring was the lands more mythical than the others: a volcanic land now only occupied by flaming larva, the cold ends that now only glowed with moss.

At the end, Fantinus, realizing that he was not capable of creating the realm alone, left it and joined his fellow Gods at the rock.

"What a hard thing! Someone should create that over since I failed." He was devoid of shame in his magnificence failure; the stories that created him all still flashed with images of heroism and entertainment. Then, he exclaimed as he noticed the blueprints now spread over by Bellanelle.

"Templates! I haven't seen them since around two millenia from now on! Let's apply one over for the parts we aren't good with like primeval sources and magic ecosystem management so we can start on the fun parts that we all like. Everything else like the world, life and magic," He nodded at Dudos, Vesa, and Khundun, recognizing the familiar taste of their domains. "are more fun with artisan touches~"

"Also I call control for humans! I made a template three years today I want to use."
As he spoke, scales fell from Fantinus over the planet once more and into the [DREAMSCAPE] and distant part of the universe. They lost their luster as they went, their shapes, and turned into broken pieces and memories of a false history.

Fantinus created [RUINS OF ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS] into the universe.

  • Fantinus filled the planet with vegetations and landscape, but failed at creating a sustaining ecosystem
  • Fantinus spread [RUINS OF ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS] all over the planet, [DREAMSCAPE], and the universe

Hundun wiggled her head slightly, as she took stock of her new colleagues' efforts. Bellanelle and unexpectedly Dudos both took a moment to consider their efforts, while Vesa and Fantinus jumped right into it. What was a star's lifetime to them, let alone the rise and fall of mortal empires, the birth and eradication of entire species? But they were here for a job, as much as Hundun might have liked to stay in her room for a few millennia longer. And the goal of the job was simple as always, to create something that endured.

So, time to add a few more strokes to the canvas.

Giving a grateful nod to Eclipso ( Squad141 Squad141 ), she raised her brush again. Dipping it not into the ink she brought, but into the darkness of space that Eclipso wrought, Hundun waved her hand once more, coloring the sides of the Planet and the Moon facing away from the Star. With each drop of darkness that fell on the celestial bodies, she felt a little more solid, more present. Looking down to her scroll, Hundun traced the same model of the solar system onto it, but stopped short of adding the shadows. This solar system would have axial rotation, dark and light sides on each body. But she decided she'd reserve her judgement before imposing the same rules on the rest of the universe. There were a lot of stars out there...some might benefit from having different rules applied to them.

"Don't...be sad...Fantinus." Turning to the serpentine god ( Damafaud Damafaud ), Hundun gently shook her head. "New...things...will grow. Bellanelle...thanks." It was awfully nice of the mechanical maiden ( GrieveWriter GrieveWriter ) to send the blueprints flying every which way. Without even getting up, Hundun was able to reach up and pluck two blueprints out of the space above them. Everyone had little additions they favored, and these were hers. Almost every universe she had worked on had had these templates in some form. Sometimes they were fruit that grew from the same tree. Sometimes one was a fluid that could only form from rain at the peak of the world, and the other a crystal that formed in the depths of the earth.

This time around...it might be nice to go back to the classics.

Placing them over her scroll like stencils, Hundun traced out the shapes of two distinct plants. A vine that could only grow in the volcanic lands that Fantinus had wrought, fed upon by the...lava larva, and agonizing, fatal to everyone else. And...a flower that bloomed amidst the moss of the frozen poles.

The former a reminder of her very distant origins, a plant whose poison could agonise and kill without fail. And the latter...a wish for healing and salvation, that once upon a time came too late. A plant that resisted any toxin, but most of all its evil counterpart.

She allowed the plants to root, but..."Vesa...finish it?" Hundun reached out to the verdant yet morbid goddess ( Karcen Karcen ). To give these plants the ultimate power over death and life...this would be her decision.

And finally...

Next to the imprint of the Flower of Restoration, Hundun dotted a few bulbous shapes, creating a mass of mushrooms that subsisted alongside the moss. Perhaps if one of the other gods would set the wheels of natural selection in motion...they would eventually evolve into sapient guardians of the flower. And if not...well, she might have to get hands on.

  • Hundun (apparently?) creates the dark sides of celestial bodies and makes eclipses possible
  • Hundun also plants the [Kinslayer's Vine] and the [Flower of Restoration] in the world
  • Hundun seeds a race of gradually evolving mushrooms

As the shadows of each object in the universe grew, so did the potential for the Eclipses across the galaxies around Eclipso. He felt a power surge, as the dark matched the light, one he was slightly worried about. After all, Eclipso was at his most powerful during the Lunar and Solar Eclipse (with differing effects). Hovering by the moon of Planet Prime, as he'd called it for now, Eclipso placed his five fingers in a circle on one side of the moon. A small circle of clumps stuck up from the ground when he removed his hand, slowly morphing into tiny houses. From the ground before them, also in a circle, five small humanoid figures appeared, each wearing a mask that depicted a different phase of the moon. Eclipso smiled. They would wake shortly, his Moon Children. They were both a race unto themselves, one that played and had fun and had each other, and an energy bank for Eclipso, in case his emotional abilities got too high at any one point.

Turning to the planet, it seemed that now was the time for adding the flora and fauna on the first world. Eclipso had a few ideas he wanted to implement and began building them. In the forests of the world, flora and fauna would intersect as Eclipso created the species of Dachshund Dragon in deep caves. On the surface, Flower Collies, Lilytigers, Kittenbees, and flying Featherfish were born, mostly around forested areas and coasts. In the northern hemisphere, an egg, where Eclipso planted the first Living Island, a duck/turtle-like creature that moved slowly enough to grow island on their backs.

Somewhere, Eclipso placed the first egg of the Rainbow Oarfish, something he hoped would be rare and revered.

Finally, Eclipso moved one large mass of land away from the rest, only slightly connecting it to another landmass. The climate become cooler, as the near constant-autumn atmosphere overtook the biomes of this Orange Isle. In a small grove, Eclipso planted the seeds of the first Gourdians, the pumpkin-headed agriculture race.

VESA
Domains: Life, Death, Souls, creation

latest

Well this group was a lively one and that did mean they weren't going to get stuck in a board meeting for the next few thousands years to sort out every exact setting in this reality. Really Vesa found things tended to balance themselves to work out fine tuning was the workaholic's past time. Still even she did notice some might be a bit over spontaneous, with the storyteller god seemingly trying to just make everything himself. While that could work out they needed to do that slower and when dealing with creation Vesa found you either worked in metaphor and story or you worked in code. Vesa preferred to work in story making things from other things over code. Still even she was not strict on this as her gift of plant life had not story aside from a gift to it.

Vesa did wonder if she would get along with the storyteller she did like such energy, but she was not one for just making up a past that did not exist. The fake ruins struck a cord with Cesa and she had seen real ancient civilizations be discovered and pieced together by latter ones. That was fun, that was a natural story of something lost being found. This was forcing a story and struck Vesa as thinking the universe was a story told and those in it nothing more than characters to be moved along. No such rigid story telling needed to be messed with but not now, Vesa was sure she would throw a few monkey wrenches into the story tellers works latter on. Hopefully the storyteller could apricate improv.

That was far away and right now the story teller wanted humans, and Vesa had not objections, the shadow goddess wanted her help and Vesa was not one to reject a request. Well she was and often struck deals , but that was with mortals and never in this stage of creations. The eclipse god seemed to get the finesse of creating life more than the story teller as already he made a race, which was slightly annoying Vesa had wanted to be first, but well it didn't mater. Well Vesa would make sure they got their souls that would not be lacking. Souls were fickle things and could be a pain to make and even when they seemed perfect they could be flawed in a way that only showed up latter. Still the eclipse god could have gotten it completely right which wasn't impossible but Vesa was in charge of souls so she felt it best she make sure all souls were stable even if other gods made them perfectly.

First was the plants the shadow goddess wanted " Hmm they are lovely i know just what to do with them" Vesa said giving a bit of her power to each the vine would be so deadly it would kill without fail killing even things that did not live, the living and the undead would be struck down by it and the flower was pure life no injury to great, no sickness to chronic, not even death itself would stop its healing. The two would be the ultimate healing herb and deadly poison. " As for the mushrooms, they do give me an idea but that's something else lets see how they grow" She said knowing the the cycle of life and death evolved things, but that was slow and other gods would speed it up more, or mortals.

With that done Vesa stood and took another gulp of her mead which the others sadly were not touching theirs " Okay well looks like others are moving onto the Fauna and races They will need souls so don't worry i'll put those in as you made them or after well it won't be to long " She said seeing other were starting their races Vesa decided this was her time to start. " If you need me i'll be on the world" She finished thinking they needed a name for the world , but that could come latter.

Vesa vanished from the meeting hall to head to the world, the others could still easily contact her from the meeting hall, but Vesa worked in story when it came to races. She wasn't one to just poof races into existence that was so distant. No she did things in the way of myths, the kind of origin mortals would tell stories of around fires and create unity. It just felt better to craft a people with your own hands instead of just using your power. Vesa would appear upon the world and given they were allowed to build as they liked she decided that her first children would live up high. Knowing how world tectonics tended to work Vesa would find a place where two plates met and raised her arms pulling up a mountain range. The mountains were a bit uniforms so Vesa closed her eyes and starts randomly sculpting them to make each different then opening her eyes she smoothed them out some to make them more natural. As the tips rose into the skies they would start to cool and soon with a little help they were covered in fresh white snow. Still Vesa was not done and in the center or near enough the range as she picked a spot with mountains all around it she raised one more mountain. However this one was special as she gave it a molten heart. It was a dormant volcano, never to erupt, but not truly dead. It was a kind of geological undeath. Inside this and the mountains around it she lased a black metal , she would put it all over latter, as a resource for her future children.

Seeing her world was good Vesa climbed the mountain going with supernatural swiftness up the undead volcano and seeded it with life, plants that could dwell only in ice and fed off the unlife of the volcano. She would codify them latter or let the mortal do it themselves, having everything laid out left little room to explore. Vesa would soon near the top of the volcano and found she had made it to pointy so instead made it more smooth, though left plenty of jagged bits creating countless years of weathering in an instant to provide room. With the ground work set Vesa made a cave into the volcano, though not to it's heart. In the largest chamber of this cave she gathered the black metal and formed a font. a basin with a circular pillar below it decorated with images of death and souls. The font came up to about chest height for the standard humans and was seemingly not very deep.

That was the final bit of set up and even as Vesa moved once more the basin shifted become more ornate as a new scene appeared upon it reflect what happened as Vesa held her arm over the basin. " For your body my blood" She said as knife appeared in her hand and she stabbed it into her arm which poured blood out as she pulled the blade out. Soon she filled the basin and she leaned in " Your spirit my breath" She said and with that she blew into the basin of blood which became blue and started to glow as it seemed to lose its physicality taking of the appearance of half material soul stuff. " For your mind i give you your own but give you my memories" She said though what she gave was not exactly memories but memories of memories of the culture of her first home a diluted thing full of holes for the children to fill in.

With that the soul stuff started to form several beings they were all female and were much larger than a human child. Their skin didn't seem fully real it was pale and seemed solid yet was somehow somewhat transparent . From their back sprouted wings of soul energy that became feather like. Vesa looked upon the rapidly growing half spirit being and picked one letting her grow to adult hood while stopping the others from growing fully " You are my first born, the first to lead your sisters, you are the first Alkira Micol and your name is Yste." Vesa said now she had a people.

yeongjin-jeon-little-conductor3.jpgBellanelle
Plenty of human types so far.

That was what Bellanelle was trying and failing to focus on so far as more of their team arrived. The Goddess of death and life made her domains fairly obvious the moment she emerged from that tree, dripping with souls as she was. But just as Bellanelle was moving to involve her in the strategizing, she revealed that she already had no plans for a slow start. Bell's voice stopped before she had even spoken anything, catching herself before she could espouse the virtues of easing into their work.

"Fun, yes, of course fun should be had." she nodded to Vesa's words before gesturing towards the templates floating around them "Not everything must be planned, of course, yes. But I merely wish to have a..."

Bellanelle paused for a moment, eyes glancing around before closing her eyes.

"Ah, a strong Foundation." She nodded to herself before opening her eyes again "I'd rather prefer to have a good long time working on this universe with you."

She turned and gestured out to all the other gods "With all of you, really. And for that a strong foundation is necessary. To just do whatever would be gambling the... the future..."

Bellanelle trailed off, her words becoming little more than a whisper as she saw the first instances of life blooming across the shrunken planet. Vesa had gone ahead and spread various forms of plant life across the surface, the blossoming of which was far grander than anything Bellanelle had read in reports over the last few Parcabels. She was so caught up in them that she barely even noticed the stein that had appeared before her, wordlessly taking hold of it as she watched the planet blossom with life.

That was until she realized what had just been done.

Immediately her head swiveled towards Dudos, only for her to spill some of the mead along her chassis in her fervor. Cutting off her own gasp, Bellanelle paused for a moment before getting her ticking to slow down again. Calling her wand to her hand again, a quick wave made the stein float beside her just as the templates had been doing. Their planet had plants, but most plants tended to need more than sunlight to survive.

They could change it of course, but a proper ecosystem would need more than just plants that lacked the need for drink. They had a god of the oceans, if his salt water chair was any indication, the least they could do was set up how his waters and Vesa's plants interacted. Perhaps they would survive off of the salt instead of the water itself, the universe was still in its infancy after all.

But before she could call out to Dudos, another appeared.

A mechanical serpent-like creature was laughing out in the space beyond their planet. It seemed focused on the rock instead of them, and quickly began to make.

Bellanelle was quick to wave towards him wildly, "Excuse me? Sir?"

But the God was caught up in creating seemingly as much as he could. Bellanelle looked on in wide-eyed horror as he brought forth creatures of both land and sea that died or fell apart almost as quickly as he made them. Lands lost cohesion, with only some parts managing to stay the same once he was done. Places of extreme frost and extreme cold had managed not to fall apart the second they were brought into being, and it almost looked as if they were fine compared to the rest of their planet.

But the rest...

Bellanelle just stared at the planet as it stopped rapidly changing, eyes locked on it even as a their newest teammate admitted defeat and came closer. She only seemed to come back to herself once he was directly praising the templates that she had brought, her pink gaze turning on him as she just gave a careful nod at his wording. Seemed he already had plans for a race of humans, and Bellanelle wasn't exactly going to deny him the claim, but she did adjust herself before nodding.

"Of course, there's no reason to say there must be one type of human." she nodded to him, trying to ignore the scales he was just casually spreading across the universe "I'm sure there can be several types for several planets, as well as sapient monsters or even geometric races of beings. As long as they don't get too messy we could have just about anything, really!"

She laughed awkwardly, trying not to focus too much on the seemingly random ruins his fallen scales were leaving throughout their universe. She wasn't too concerned about the ones that were sprouting up in the [DREAMSCAPE], as that place was bound to become an assortment of immensely varied things both logical and wild once the first mortals were made. The place would have literally everything in it at one point or another.

But the ones in the baseline universe?

Bellanelle had to hold herself back, she was sure that they could make use of them even if they were pieces of false history. They were building upwards after all, nothing to it but to just keep working.

But the Undead girl, Hundun, the one who'd been sketching since Bellanelle had arrived, instead took to comforting Fantinus over the loss of many of his first creations. She then turned to thank Bellanelle for the templates, albeit in a slow manner that hadn't quite been expected. Bellanelle lacked a mouth, but hoped the nod she gave was enough of a show of appreciation. Soon she and Eclipso joined in with making plants and animals for the world, although with far more care than Fantinus had initially showed.

As soon as Eclipso tore a chunk of land from the rest and made an island, Bellanelle stepped back and focused. She already heard talk of the first races being made, which meant mortals were soon to grace their universe.

It might have been quicker than she would've liked, but Bellanelle knew better than to try fighting against such things. Building upwards, after all. But Mortals meant slumber, and slumber meant dreams.

It was only a matter of time before the [DREAMSCAPE] was altered by the first to know sleep. Their thoughts, hopes and experiences would begin warping it more and more. As such things were her domain, she would need wardens.

So as the others continued making or taking off such as Vesa, Bellanelle stood stock still as her mind went to her [WORKSHOP]. It was still out there somewhere, floating in the endless space of their universe. But even with such great distance between them, it still bent to Bellanelle's will. And she willed for the metallic pipes and structures lining its insides to bend, break and form before sprouting anew. Like a metallic flower the inside of the Workshop expanded, again and again it grew with more varied rooms and halls until she stopped.

And then, she turned it on.

Great gears began twisting as pipes and conveyor belts started humming. Metallic hands came down to begin assembly as the internal factory began building something. Limbs were fashioned from random assortments of metal, pieced together into the shape of something vaguely humanoid. Black clothing descended from chutes only to be torn apart and stitched back together by metallic arms.

Soon, a pair of boots slammed onto the floor besides one of the conveyor belts, the metallic being wearing them standing stock still for a moment before another slammed into it and forced it forwards.

All over the [MECHANIST'S WORKSHOP], these empty metal beings were being mass produced: A couple, then a dozen, then hundreds scattered around the enlarged structure.

But such a place was not meant for their universe.

Bellanelle moved, reaching out a hand before tightening it into a fist. The entire structure jerked in space, with the empty shells clattering around before settling. Bellanelle's ticking increased as her grip became firm, only to then wrench her arm backwards. With a surge of movement, the entire [WORKSHOP] was dragged into the [DREAMSCAPE]. Already it was shifting with the thoughts of mortals, but much of it was still an endless gray haze with the occasional ruin lost within it.

And the moment it settled, floating through that endless haze, the shells began to fill. Filled with the very essence of the Dreamscape, many got up and got to work.

The first Dreamkeepers had been born, a servant race that Bellanelle made extensive use of during her last time as warden of the [DREAMSCAPE]. Their work would begin shortly, with many already setting out to repair parts of the workshop that had been damaged during their entrance. Others wasted no time in leaving the structure, flying out into the [DREAMSCAPE] to begin lacing inspiration throughout it.

Bellanelle's ticking slowed once again as she gave a small hum of delight. Her domains wouldn't get much usage until the mortals got a bit further, but she wouldn't be caught unprepared for it. Dreams and Inspiration were covered so far, and she had made quite a lot of use of her creation powers so far. But machinery was a gift she could hold back on for the time being.

  • Began developing the [MECHANIST'S WORKSHOP] even further
  • Produced the first DREAMKEEPERS
  • Set out DREAMKEEPERS to maintain [WORKSHOP] and act as wardens for the [DREAMSCAPE]

Dudos wasn't happy with Fantinus creating an entire ocean without his permission while he waited to give the other Gods time to finish their plans before the meeting and after following Vesa's example and downing his mead in one gulp decided to make that very clear. While Hundun was still comforting the newcomer over his creations failing the God of Magic, Weather and the Sea got up and formed a thundercloud over Fantinus head. "This is what you get for messing in my Domain without permission!" The thundercloud released a lightning bolt and sent it downwards to the God of Stories. Of course even if hit it shouldn't really hurt but Dodus figured it would get the point across.

That done he really wanted to explore the new ocean and see if he could use any of the fish for his own Creations but the formation of plants and even a race meant he had other priorities. Unaware he was thinking the same thing as Bellanelle he wondered what kind of weather system was needed to support the newly created life as well the locations on the planet. He started simple with snow to cover the mountaintops and introduced frequent windstorms to the Autumn island but also made sure they weren't strong enough to make life there impossible.

Remembering his own anger from just a while back Dudos decided to make sure his alterations were okay before he continued. "Just tell me if I do something you don't like with your Creations" It was then that he noticed the Living Island and the Rainbow Oarfish eggs and. He liked the idea behind them but after "punishing" Fantinus felt like he couldn't let it go by. "Who made these eggs?!"

While he waited for an answer he though about the two unique plants that had been Created and wondered what kind of Weather they could need, rain was a given and for that fresh water would be needed which would also work well for the snow he made earlier. So he started by making several rivers and creating the standard water cycle. He also made sure that the air around the mountaintops would be even colder than the autumn climate.

So far even Dudos had to admit most of what he did was pretty basic stuff but luckily he got a chance for something a bit more unusual thanks to Vesa. Seeing the winged race she was making he remembered the solid clouds some other worlds had. He started by making a regular cloud and since he couldn't figure out a good way to get what he wanted cheated by switching Domains. While it would happen without outside interference sometimes the bonds between the water molecules that made up clouds would be randomly strengthened by Magic to the point that the clouds would be both much heavier and denser. As a result it would float at a much lower altitude and could even support weight, the bigger the cloud the more weight it could support naturally

  1. Created a thundercloud and tried to zap Fantinus
  2. Covered the mountains in snow and gave The Orange Isle frequent windstorms.
  3. Made rivers as well as the watercycle
  4. Made the air around the mountains colder.
  5. Made island clouds

Khalandis - Goddess of Time, Record, Wish, and Creation
cnrq63wuwgf81.jpg
“Thank you,”

Khalandis took the seat Hundun offered, returning the thin smile with one of her own. Brushes? Scrolls? If they were from her old Universe, they’d definitely be an Oriental God. The Silken Shroud seemed like the quiet sort given the lack of verbal greeting, but given goddesses’s domain, Khalandis wasn’t terribly surprised; Shadows didn’t tend to talk a lot. What did surprise her was when the other goddess raised a brush towards her, drawing her outline, and causing ink to settle around her. She blinked. If Hundun hadn’t done the same to herself, Khalandis might’ve thought it was an attack.

Still…she didn’t know what was done to her and opened her mouth to question the blue-skinned goddess when the entrance of another God into Universe rcz00123 drew her eyes to vast void beyond. She couldn’t see them. However, it was impossible not to notice another god’s presence, especially in an empty Universe like this one.

Nodding politely as Dudos appeared at their location (on the rock), Khalandis wouldn’t know what Hundun had done to her until the third god made his arrival and immediately got to work, blackening the Universe and dotting it with millions of stars…all equal distances from one another. As the biggest star cast a light over the rock she was on, she could see her shadow…and her head put two and two together.

Shadows were such a given in her old Universe that she’d almost forgotten it hadn’t yet been introduced to this one. It made her appreciate the work of the quiet goddess who noticed and drew in little details. She watched the Night Maiden work, her eyes–and phone–recording the brush movements as Hundun colored in the dark sides of Eclipso’s Moon and Planet as it faced away from the sun.

However, Khalandis’s attention wouldn’t remain long as the rest of the gods assigned to Universe rcz00123 appeared in a spectacular fashion one after another and–as if following Eclipso and Hundun’s example–immediately started working as well. They all seem to know what they want. They all had their own ideas and plans to implement on the new Universe. Khalandis simply did what she did best–observed, took detailed notes (on her phone), and timed all their work. On one hand, she appreciated the efficiency and was glad her co-gods weren’t the sort to waste time. On the other hand, without communication or working together, results like Fantinus’s attempts at creating a sustaining ecosystem on Eclipso’s planet were to be expected.

The ocean wasn’t his domain, after all. Nor forests. Nor…the entire world he tried to make. It was her belief that tasks ought to be assigned to the best god for the job.

Even if he did possess the authority of creation, he could not create a body of water as well or as easily as a god that possessed authority over the sea. That required true knowledge of the Oceans…and she knew of few gods that could create and maintain a world, let alone a Universe, all by themselves.

Machine god Valkmor was the first that came to mind…and that didn’t turn out very well from what she’d read.

Glancing at Bellanelle with something akin to sympathy, Khalandis waved her hand, causing the hundreds of templates that were flying everywhere to freeze (as if frozen in time) before following her [WISH] and piling themselves neatly on her–or rather Hundun’s–desk.

“I agree with Bellanelle,” Khalandis said as she occupied her time by browsing through the templates with one hand while her other hand typed on her phone, holding it up so it could [RECORD] the conversations and doings of her fellow gods. “A strong foundation is important and planning will make things easier. There is time for work and there is time for fun. Fun comes after work is done. I also don’t drink while working.”

That sounded like a recipe for disaster.

Glancing up, she nodded at Fantinus’s claim. “Go ahead. I don’t think I like the idea of controlling humans…”

Khalandis used to be human, after all.

Before becoming a god, she had thought that every phenomena in the world had a scientific explanation. That gravity was the glue that held the Universe together. It was only after obtaining her “heavenly desk job” that she learned Gravity was a god. That everything in the world was pre-designed by a deity. Khalandis had gotten lucky with her original Universe. The gods that built it had made her planet self-sustaining. They didn’t interfere with mortal choice…for the most part.

There was no one right way to build a world.

Khalandis had seen all sorts of designs for Universes. In fact, she was looking through quite a few of them. Some crazy gods tied their life force to the planets to provide the energy necessary to sustain life. Some planted a magical battery of some sort at the core. Some had little elves running around doing all the work. The fact that Fantinus started the first planet with a molten core, resembling the planet Earth of her Universe, emphasized the fact that the Storyteller–god of story, hero, identity, and creation–used to be human as well.

“But if you wish to design the first ones and care for them–”

CRACK!

"This is what you get for messing in my Domain without permission!"

Khalandis sighed as the God of Magic, Weather, and Sea, tried to zap Fantinus. And that’s why communication, and planning who did what, was important…though even Bellanelle and Dudos, who had been quietly waiting, seemed eager to get started after watching their fellow gods work…er…well, have “fun”. "Eclipso made those Eggs. And considering fish couldn't live in Fantinus's ocean, I don't think he did it right..."

Khalandis checked her watch–the one displaying time for this Universe. 15 minutes. At this rate, they could forget the scheduled week. The first planet would be finished in less than a day…which wasn’t exactly a bad thing.

“Well…since everyone seems eager to get things started, I’ll try to make this quick.” Khalandis cleared her throat. “Eclipso. Dudos. Hudun. Fantinus. Vesa. Bellanelle. Welcome to Universe rcz00123, where we’ve been assigned as the first gods and will be living until the Universe no longer needs us. Our job will be to ensure that this Universe, and whatever will inhabit it, prospers.”

She spread a couple of templates on the desk, careful not to interrupt Hundun’s work. The “meeting room” was just a couple of gods (the ones that remained seated), chairs, and a desk, all on a rock, after all. “Since there are only six of us” for now “I imagined it might be more prudent for us to focus all our efforts on one planet like this one. There’s no rule that says a Universe has to have multiple planets and 1 grand, well-developed world might be better than splitting our efforts and making a bunch of lackluster ones. Creating is one thing, but managing all the creations is another. Conversely, some Universal designs have multiple galaxies, and smattering of unique planets.” Though they had more help. “So depending on how we progress, I can submit requests for more gods…”

Which may or may not be approved.

“But whatever we decide, whether the locations of the stars or the respective roles we gods will play in this Universe, I’d hoped to do it as a team. My name is Khalandis, goddess of time, record, wish, and creation. I will manage the time in our Universe, but, as the tentative Team Leader, I will also be documenting our Universe’s progress to submit to The Boss. Naturally, the better we do, the better our paychecks…but I’d like to think the development of a successful Universe, where our creations can thrive, is a reward in and of itself. ”

Or maybe she only thought that way since obtaining the [Creation] Domain.

102619708-hourglass-with-shining-light-on-dark-background-with-soft-bokeh-effect-3d-image.jpg

“Any questions? If not, I will adjourn this meeting so you all can get back to work.” Or fun. Some people found it fun. She glanced from Bellanelle, who was mentally working on her “room” in the Universe, to Eclipso’s planet, where his seeds were sleeping, Vesa named the first “Alkira Micol”, habitats formed, and temperatures changed. Only time would tell what became of their first planet. After all, as soon as time started in the Universe, the Stream had already started to grow and wind itself into the Universe’s foundations. Lines of swirling colors and temporal energies–visible only to divine eyes–that would influence everything created in the Universe except for gods–who didn’t quite belong in the Universe–and anything that blocked off its effects. Lines that Khalandis made–with a flick of her finger–connect to the [RUINS OF ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS].

Khalandis nodded. She wasn’t sure what Fantinus intended by placing memories of a false history all over the Universe, but it was an event of the past, so she figured the Time Stream ought to be connected to it.

“We can meet again in…let’s say another year from now, according to Universe rcz00123’s time.” Khaladis pointed to the space above the rock…a bit too far for mortal eyes from the first planet to see. A giant hourglass appeared, sands trickling down to indicate when the gods would meet again. “Hopefully by then, if you’ve created a species, you’ll be prepared to give us a progress report on how said species is doing. What it eats? How it is interacting with other species? If you haven’t…just your domain in general. The Sea’s ecosystem, Fantinus’s story/humans, The coloring of shadows, The progress of technology, rules of magic, diagrams of potential species, etc. Let me know if you wish to reschedule, speed up or slow down time in a local area, or need my assistance in any way. I’ll be…”

Khalandis checked her phone. The time stream had yet to fully form–not that there would be much to see at the moment. Time in Universe rcz00123 had only started 17 minutes ago, after all. “...Here.”

With that, Khalandis considered her work done and took a large swig of Vesa’s mead as she continued to watch the gods from her rock.

Hmm...

Eclipso paused a moment. Perhaps he had jumped the gun in the heat of the moment, wanting so dearly for sparks of creativity and inspiration to be a part of the world. He'd have to make lists to ask for permission from his fellow gods from now on, lest he somehow start a battle among them (something he had only experienced one other time).

He started with Dudos, who had intermittently disturbed. First, he removed the sea life that were only eggs. He'd let Dudos decide if they should go back or not.

"Sorry, that was me! Here, I've got a list of things I was hoping you could proof?"

  • Flying Featherfish
  • Living Islands
  • The Rare Rainbow Oarfish

Next up, a few more races to liven up the world. Eclipso followed Vesa's way, and shrunk down to fly over the planet, sizing himself up to it correctly. At the edge of a dry, but clean, plain of tan rock, Eclipso landed. From the rock below, a humanoid figure was carved, taking more natural color after being removed from the ground. About the size of a middle-aged human, Eclipso reached up and placed a very detailed hat on it's head. After a moment of contemplation, he also gave it a long robe that covered its arms and most of its torso. He'd call this race... the Monumentals. Yeah, that was just easy enough to remember without sounding silly. He made a few more, before returning to the first, and whispering into it's head...

You are the Monumentals, and you are the Kings of this Valley. You are the protectors of this Sacred Geometry.

With that, Eclipso turned and split the large rock area down the middle, a crack the size of a grand canyon twisting through the ground in a whimsical pattern. With that, Eclipso gifted them one last thing: a rock jar, holding sacred geometry, something he had only recently come up with. Eclipso was the god of the arts, and that include the ideas of shape and movement in the minds of mortals. He had begun gifting races with Sacred Geometry, shifting jewels that sustain impossible architecture, and guarded by that one race. Some may see it as pointless, but Eclipso saw beauty in it. He had given people purpose, he had given them ambition, and he had given the world a spectacle. Eclipso decided to leave the current Monumentals sleeping. He would wake everyone at around the same time if he could. Just before leaving, Eclipso created the animal to populate the place so the Monumentals wouldn't be alone: crows, a kingdom of them. He gave the first one white feathers and a tiny rock crow. He secretly named her Ida.

Eclipso noticed something else odd: no had created a human yet. Now large again, he leaned down on the empty matter of space, and picked up one of the templates for a human person. In the back of his mind, he was worried that there might not be any in this universe. But would that be so bad...?

Yes. Yes it would. Eclipso had once been several people, most of which were human themselves.

He was back above the planet, and quickly dropped into one of the larger clearings on the biggest continent. Unlike the other ideas he had and would make, Humans were an exceptionally easy race to make. He barely had to look at the template to complete the first 25, whom he split into five groups, all of whom were 'families' that would have to rely on one another to keep themselves moving. Unlike the previous instance, Eclipso felt no need to whisper beginning guidance for any of them. Humans were exceptionally self-reliable, after all. The only presence he left with them, was a wooden sundial inscribed with a smiling sun and moon.

From there, he went on a small spree, Eclipso. Humans would most likely become a mainstay, but the world had to be filled with creativity. Eclipso made a few more basic creatures (sentience and evolution was up to time for them), such as monkeys and owls, as well as bumblespiders and a hive of bees that didn't rely on a queen. Underground, Eclipso made the stone Mountain King, Ruler of the Nomes, who would live underground and care for the inner planet as the other mortals did the surface. Here, Eclipso spit onto the ground, creating a Fire Spirit, something to start the Nomes on their journey since they wouldn't have as many context clues. Far away (but not too far away) from the humans, Eclipso created a race of Elves. Just as humans varied in size, so did they, save their lankier frames, longer noses, and pointier ears.

Fantinus the Storyteller

c0a40f34b8bb2d8d0ff96c90575faf0e.jpg

Story, Hero, Identity, Creation
"Excuse me? Sir?"
"Don't...be sad...Fantinus. New...things...will grow."

Fantinus took his failure in good stride, but everyone liked sympathy, which put him in a better mood. Bellanelle's bewilderment and horror, likewise, had him amused. The good-feel moment did not last long, though. Crackles of lightning formed above and strike, turning his shifting scales ashen.

"This is what you get for messing in my Domain without permission!"

"Temper, temper. Come on, Dudos. It's just a light messing around~"
He grinned carelessly at the God of Ocean, though not pursuing the matter further. The burnt scales shed, floating into the empty universe to form miscellaneous materials. Gold, bronze, sulfur, elements that interacted to create countless wonders. Even the planet was not exempt. What once was barren began to be filled with potential.

Above, Fantinus lost his scales and draconic visage. Instead, a wooden appearance replaced his burnt shell. The humanoid tree unraveled into a wizened elk, though the mischief dancing in his eyes could not be missed. Fantinus toyed with a circular pendant, smiling and, quite politely, listening to Khalandis while the rest half-diverted their attention to creation. Vesa got a head start of half-spirirt beings, Bellanelle off for the [DREAM REALM], and Dudos creating a vast water system, cloud islands, and settled weather.

"Yes, yes, a year will do and we will use the template for the constellation kinetic movement, atmosphere, mineral spread, electromagnetic field and the rest of the boring ones." Fantinus waved a branched limb at Khalandis. "Now excuse me while I stake my claim, boss~" QuirkyAngel QuirkyAngel

He had been watching somewhat leisurely from above for a while, watching everyone filling the world without a care, but Eclipso picked a human template and dropped them to the world. He couldn't let his Story deviate so early, could he? Squad141 Squad141

The Storyteller reached ahead and planted in the five human families a [FALSE HISTORY]. A history of a draconic disaster that destroyed their humble town and sent them fleeing with nothing but the clothes on their back and knowledge of their once bustling civilization and the ruin the monster brought onto their kingdom.

Yes, kingdom. Fantinus held a grin in. Vesa said a wild start often makes for better stories, but he, as the God of Story, disagreed. The primeval era was best as a background, a mystery for future generations to look back on. So, he had the humans skipped ahead.

Of the 25 humans, he assigned them each an [IDENTITY] befitting survivors of a destroyed town. A Merchant, a Huntsman, two Blacksmiths, and four Guards were among them, more skilled and well rounded in their trades, but it did not mean the others were without. Relying on the False History he conjured, he gave each humans a set of skills befitting their experience. An elder, for instance, knew of the herbs and plants around them and knew her way around disease.

As for Eclipso's pendant, he left it in the elder's care with a vague myth of a deity of the celestial bodies.

Satisfied with his arrangement on the humans, he turned his attention to the other races. He did not touch Alkira Micol nor the Monumentals, both blessed by their respective gods, but to others, he nudged them for a place and a role. A Hunter. A Leader. He led their fate and proficiency to better fit for survival in the hostile world. The Elves, the Gourdians, and the Fire Spirits were among this category along with many animals, mythical and mundane.

Then, he chanced upon the seeds Hundun left. His bushy brows furrowed. A single leaf flew across the universe, shuttling to the Goddess of Shadow.

"Are you sure you want to leave them as seeds? They will be behind compared to the others." Nellancholy Nellancholy

Another leaf flew toward Bellanelle, the Conductor.

"Let's just fix the necessary laws and rules in place so we can work faster. And do you have insect and microbial world template?" He didn't want to spend eons dealing with crucial but mundane task like setting physics, chemistry reaction, or heaven forbid, creating a working ecosystem. It was part of his job desk as the God of Identity to weave the animals and beasts everyone created together into a biosphere, but that required too many fine-tuning that he did not like. And don't get him started on magic! GrieveWriter GrieveWriter

"Dudos honey, help with the world's magic essense already~" That thing would change how he needed to settle the ecosystem. And yes, Fantinus asked as if he did not just offend Dudos before. Venchi1986 Venchi1986

Already the world had become more and more populated, many of its inhabitants sapient by the common standard. For a brief moment, Hundun perked up as Eclipso planted the Nomes deep within the earth, where the Star's light could never reach and the sense of sight did not dominate. Alas, he also proceeded to impart a Fire Spirit upon them that gave them light and direction. So be it, then. Time to add a little complexity to that domain.

She took a moment to recall similar concepts in other worlds. The Underdark, it was sometimes called. The Crawling Chaos. The Void. There were many names for it, but its purpose and nature often turned out to be the same. It was just as well that a fire spirit should have been created...so why not create its opposite? A rival...a nemesis.

Dipping her brush into her inkwell, she hovered her hand over the cave networks of the Nomes. No, slightly below, at the edge of their realm. The edge of their consciousness...

She drew a swirling pattern of curves that formed into a few concentric circles, the ends of the curves tapering upward like flames, clawing at the settled caves like tentacles. And by her will, it came into being. A darkness that would menace the Nomes, not with fang and claw, but with terror, madness. Should they remain in the darkness below, it would creep into their minds one by one, contaminate them. Turning them into some thing...not necessarily worse, but very different.

But if they worked with the Fire Spirit, to keep their realm lit, orderly, and safe...the darkness could be kept at bay.

"Give them...something to fight..." Hundun smiled at Eclipso. A little conflict could add to the determination and cohesion of the Nomes, but one might get the feeling that Hundun would enjoy them "losing" even more.

The darkness spread through the underground like a mycelium, with no distinct bodies just yet...perhaps a little later down the line, something like drows or svirnefblin might come of it if the Nomes didn't destroy it outright. But that could wait. Squad141 Squad141

Speaking of mycelium...

"Slow...is good..." Hundun shook her head at Fantinus. The mushroom folk were hardly folk, just yet. Just large, bulbous fruiting bodies all growing from the same network, in symbiosis with the frigid moss that would grow alongside the Flower of Restoration. Damafaud Damafaud

But, indeed, a little nourishment could help them along to become worthy protectors of the flower.

Hundun liked simplicity when it came to designing her own creations. The races other gods made, they would fight, kill, dance, and love, all in the darkness of night. And when that happened...Hundun would be the one watching them. But for her own, she tended to forgo things like culture, history, individuality...

Moving her brush again, she painted several species of animal to populate the polar region, stopping every now and then to glance up at Bellanelle's templates. Lupine pack predators with vestigial wings, squat and broad hoofbeasts that grazed on scarce grass and moss, tentacled marine life that resembled crowned monarchs in cloaks, with stingers on the end of each tentacle.

These creatures and their like would live, breed, and die. And every particle of their bodies would feed the plants that inhabited the sleet-covered soil. That would help them to grow into their purpose.

Taking another pause, Hundun closed her eyes, her mind roaming over the Planet. She took a moment to observe Vesa's Sky Queens, or Eclipso's elves...

Given their martial nature, the Sky Queens seemed like a possible candidate to cause the first murder within the cover of night...

  • Hundun creates the Crawling Chaos to serve as an existential adversary to the Nomes Eclipso created.
  • Hundun populates the polar regions with animal life such as the [Tengarou], [Stone-Hooved Bison], and the [Ice-Crowned] in part to fertilize the mushroom folk.

More mortals...

That seemed to be the running theme once Khandis concluded their unofficial meeting.

The time god had gathered up most of Bellanelle's templates on Hundun's desk before addressing the whole fun vs work debate that had been brewing amongst some of them. Besides a quick approval for Fantinus's desire for humans, the meeting was mostly a rehash of what Bellanelle had surmised so far. The only stipulation was that they focus their efforts on the sole planet they had so far, which Bellanelle would adhere to for the most part.

Already she could feel the [DREAMSCAPE] altering drastically with every single new mortal added, there was no telling how vast and unrecognizable it would become with several more planets as populated as this one.

Bellanelle found herself unconsciously nodding along as Khan brought up the self-fulling nature of their work, and already was forming a record-taking room inside the [WORKSHOP] to make future meetings go more smoothly. According to Khandis, it would be in approximately one year. Bellanelle had almost forgot to adjust her time from her usual Parcabels, and was quick to reach inside her head and manually adjust an internal clock.

With how much freedom they had in the beginning, it wouldn't do for her to get lax with one of the few things set in stone already.

Once the meeting was adjourned, many of Bellanelle's peers got right to it.

Just like Vesa, Eclipso took off and began making more mortals. Bellanelle wasn't ashamed in peeking over Khalandis as she kept notes on the creations below. But it wasn't really that she needed a signal for when new mortals were made, she just wanted names for the new thoughts shaping the [DREAMSCAPE]. The Micol brought thoughts of conflict and musings upon their newly granted powers of the dead, their mountain home taking various shapes warped by perception. The Moon children had been the first dreamers, already playing amongst their lunar home which seemed to stretch into playful forms.

But there were more, especially due to Eclipso.

Humans, Nomes and elves soon joined the roster, each of them dotting the [DREAMSCAPE] with perceptive representations of their homelands and those around them. Compounded by Fantinus moving quickly to weave stories and identities for some, and soon enough the [DREAMSCAPE] was starting to truly resemble the endless amalgamation of mortal thought that Bellanelle was familiar with.

It was lucky she had prepped her Dreamkeepers for their task, as many began to flit about in the [DREAMSCAPE], hidden by the gray haze that filled their beings. Playing dutiful wardens, their task of inspiring was already taking place. Not that they were particularly needed for that just yet. The world had just opened up for these mortals, and many already had lives to look forward to thanks to the workings of the gods. It would take some stabilization before the Dreamkeepers really had to get working, but already some were weaving inspiration through the thoughts of people of all kinds.

Speaking of Stability, it seemed Fastinus was in great need of such a thing.

Bellanelle had been broken from her observation by a leaf sent by none other than their resident storyteller. Bellanelle had seen one flutter over to Hundun, but hadn't expected another to come to her almost a second later. It was this that led her to realize she was still leaning over to openly gander at Khalandis' notes, and had stayed there whilst keeping track of the going-ons of the Dreamscape.

"Oh, sorry." she was quick to bow in apology before stepping back "I'm in no rush to head down."

Fantinus' leaf proclaimed his desire to have certain rules and laws set in stone for ease of future work. Seemed he also wanted to know about several of her templates as well.

"The storyteller desires the hasty establishment of fundamental laws." she informed Khalandis before turning to the leaf and tapping her finger on the pile of templates "While such a thing is possible, I would politely suggest more time be dedicated to them. The enthusiasm is quite encouraged, but some of these could have adverse effects on the current creations if not fine-tuned."

She went through the stack on Hundun's desk, sifting through them for a moment before raising her head to Khalandis.

"Seeing as evolution and time tend to hold on to what works, perhaps I could ask you to hash them out with us?" she asked Khalandis before glancing to Fantinus's leaf "I'd hate to leave a peer waiting for his time to shine."

"On another note, insects and microbes are far easier."
she pulled forth several sheets from the pile before handing them to Fantinus "These should be more than enough to start-"

She paused, eyes locking on one of templates in particular. Pulling it from the rest, she folded it up whilst offering the others to Fantinus once more.

[DREAMKEEPERS] begin spreading small amounts of inspiration here and there throughout mortal thoughts.

As far as Dudos was concerned the issue with Fantinus was settled, as even if the ocean was incapable of sustaining life right now he could always fix it later. As for Eclipso, him removing the eggs and letting the God of the sea decide to do with them was good enough. "It's fine, I'm sure I can use all of this somehow." He pocketed the eggs and waited for the meeting to end. Something that didn't take much longer as Khalandis seemed to realize most of the Gods were eager to get started. She made a giant hourglass and declared that the next meeting would be in a year local time.

Wanting to get started on the sea Dudos was about to shrink down and dive right in to the water when Fantinus brought up a good point ."Dudos honey, help with the world's magic essence already~" With the amount of sentient species already created the Magic System had to take priority. Luckily he had an idea on how to do it in mind. It based on a series of popular video games from a different reality but modified to be able to account for the different Domains. "Yeah yeah, no need to tell me."

By sheer coincidence Eclipso's jewels could possibly be incorporated into it and he decided to start by asking the God of Day, Night, the Arts about it. Dudos shrank down and Teleported to where Eclipso was, only to realize he was still much bigger and had misjudged the size the others took while on the planet. He quickly fixed his mistake and shrunk down again, to a third of his current size. He felt a bit uncomfortable being this small but he could deal with it.

"Hey, I'll probably use those eggs of yours, but I'm mainly here for something else. I was planning to set up a Magic System using crystals and since you basically just made them I wanted to make sure it was okay with you."

VESA
Domains: Life, Death, Souls, creation

latest

Vesa found that she did not like the story tell more and more as she have observed how he seeded the humans with lies taking away the excitement of discovery and instead handing them what he desired them to be. That was not how Vesa liked things to be done she had given the Micol glimpses ideas, but none had been told what they were only given dream like hints to plant the seeds of how she wished for them to develop. The world was only just now made and already he was sowing seeds of discord and arguments over who was first born upon the world. Still if he could play with fate and who was what then perhaps one day Vesa would write a story he wouldn't see coming.

The world had many needs and Vesa simply created as she moved through it. Despite what others might think she actually did know what was needed for an ecosystem making not just one thing but rather many generic things. She created microbes to cause decay of the dead, insects to eat plants and build up the food chain. She created as she moved not needing to really think about it as she created what could be called filler species. Well some people knew what to do when it came to telling a story, you needed to tell the important parts and cut the fat no one wanted to know the history of the jam makers for a characters morning breakfast or the complete tax records for every village a hero visits,. So Vesa had not really but putting much aware effort into the smaller critters. They were template creatures repeating patterns that were found in so many universes.

Vesa of course had other things on her mind namely a little gift for her children in time. She had yet to make one group, but they would come for now she wanted to give them something. A magic system, that was not something she had made. Well she didn't need to make magic she just had to make something like it. Dudos was in charge of magic, but well that didn't mean she couldn't make one herself. Vesa was in charge of life but she wasn't exactly complaining about others doing the same so it was only polite to return the courtesy. Still Vesa wasn't about to make a competing system, no it would be better to call it an alternative to proper magic.

Vesa would find a fairly flat area and sit upon the ground which started to grow life as life of the smallest verity burst forth all over the world. Then she reached down and grabbed some rocks and smoothed creating flat ovals. She was copying something from her old world, but giving them new purpose. She then started to trace runes upon each stone, each an aspect of a spell fire, shoot, aura, Vesa created and created making the runes into a sort of create it yourself spell system. Vesa didn't know how the magic system of this world would work, but the runes would be simple pick the runes that said what you wanted it to do how it would be done and any number of other permutations making the spell crafting more like constructing a code over chanting a spell.

Khalandis - Goddess of Time, Record, Wish, and Creation
cnrq63wuwgf81.jpg
Eyebrows raised, Khalandis watched, from her phone connected to the Time Stream, as Eclipso landed on the first planet and–following Vesa’s example–created a race of his own…followed by many other races: The Humans, The Elves, and the Nomes. That along with the masked people he had sleeping on the moon, the seeds he’d planted on the one-season Isle he’d created, and the various species he’d introduced to the world, all within a relatively short span of time, suggested he already had a template of his own he wanted to use.

Unless it was something simple–like a rock–the creation of something complex like a sentient, living being took a bit more time for Khalandis, partly because she was a perfectionist (who liked to plan out everything from the species internal and external physiology to its general psychology) and partly because the creation of souls wasn’t a specialty of hers. Could she do it? Yes. Given time…and some reading. But it was easier just to get a soul-creation specialist on the team.

Then again, did all living beings require a soul?

That certainly might’ve been one of the fundamental laws up for discussion if the gods had been up for it. Only Bellanelle stayed with her. Technically, Hundun and Dudos did too, but Khalandis didn’t fail to notice the way Dudos eyed the planet’s oceans as if eager to just jump straight in. It was one of the reasons Khalandis decided to end the “meeting” early; The god of the sea was very much like a fish out of the water. As their sea and oceans specialist, It’d only make sense for Dudos to watch over the planet’s seas and the inhabitants living in there. Then again, whichever ocean the Grand Magician chose to inhabit was his own choice.

He could always just make his own.

Still holding the mead stein to her lips, Khalandis glanced at Bellanelle as the machine maiden bowed and stepped back following Fantinus’s leafy communication. “It’s alright. I don’t mind.”

If Bellanelle peeked at Khalandis’s phone, they would see the events of the first planet through the streams of time that wove around it. They might even see the detailed documentation of Team rcz00123’s first meeting and the calendar that Khalandis worked on as she split the anticipated year into 6 months: Eclipso, Dudos, Hundun, Fantinus, Vesa, and Bellanelle. Those were the months that she would check on her fellow gods, remind them of the time, and offer help as needed. Given the sun and the planet were equal sizes–revolving around each other–Khalandis wasn’t entirely certain how that would influence the number of days in a year, let alone a month.

“Time doesn’t hold onto anything. It just flows…and as it passes change typically follows.” Alcohol flowed down her throat in one final gulp before Khalandis set her stein aside. “That’s…not a rule exactly…but it’s something that all gods who rule over the domain of Time have observed. Change only occurs to those under the influence of time. Progress can only be made in the Universe once time starts. “

Khalandis shrugged. “As a goddess of Time, those are the only fundamental laws I am interested in enforcing; Time always flows forward. Time doesn’t stop. Time dilates and the perception of it can change depending on one’s velocity. Time is slower where gravity is stronger. I’ve already set up the basics when I created the Time Stream, which will continue as time passes in this Universe …” She wasn’t a fan of overwork and the scheduled ‘meeting’ had ended…yet she couldn’t deny there was much work to be done if they wanted the world, the first–and possibly only–living planet to prosper as well. Work that would’ve been easier with more gods; A god of diversity to establish the rules of evolution, natural selection, etc. A god of love to help promote reproduction as well as the care each species might feel for its children. As it stood, Khalandis could only hope each of the gods incorporated all the basic biological and chemical reactions to evolve when they designed their species…but she’d need to read their blueprints to be sure. How did one fill the world with all the things the creatures needed to survive if she didn’t even know what they needed? What the heck some of these creatures even were…

“But yes, let’s work together to decide the other laws,” Smiling at Bellanelle, Khalandis glanced at Dudos as the Grand Magician mentioned the Magic System he planned to implement. “Of course, magic would be the ability to subvert these laws…”

Which might prove useful to the mortals?

Not all worlds had a Magic System. The planet, from the Universe she originated from, didn’t. Then again, they didn’t have a god of Magic in their team of gods. And, the newly born planet before them wasn’t Earth. While Khalandis intended to make best use of the templates created by the experimentation of other gods before her, Khalandis had no intention to plagiarize either. She was no specialist in atmospheric design. She wasn’t artistic enough to draw what would be the best series of constellations. Khalandis would only do what she could.

“Did you know that Time isn’t my first domain even though it’s the power I utilize the most?” Khalandis asked, offering information about herself as she placed her phone back into her pocket and closed her eyes. She wanted to know more about the gods whom she would be working with in regards to Universe rcz00123. Her teammates. That was the point of the first meeting, after all. Khalandis had already made her own observations–Eclipso was efficient, Dudos quick-tempered, Hundun quiet, Vesa fun-loving, Fantinus mischievous, and Bellanelle meticulous–but that wasn’t the same as learning about them from their own lips. “It is Wish. I wanted to survive the deathmatch I was thrown into even knowing the odds were stacked against me…and somehow tapped into this power.”

galaxy-stars-purple.jpg
As Khalandis spoke, the entire rock beneath their feet started to glow a dazzling, violet hue as she poured as much Wish Energy as she could muster into it. Brighter, brighter, until it radiated like a star without heat. The rock then shrunk into roughly the size of Eclipso’s moon before it began to circle the new planet, leaving trails of shimmering Wish Particles where it traveled. Particles that, high above the clouds where Dudos controlled temperature and weather, would ultimately form the upper layers of the new planet’s atmosphere. Particles that would follow her wish and outline the planet, becoming what was needed to protect the young planet from harm, filter the light from the Sun, and color the sky.

Particles that would respond to the wishes of other gods, the planet, and its inhabitants as well.

“While I am aware that the Earth’s atmosphere is 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and the rest a bunch of other gasses, I do not know the best composition for the current world…” because she wouldn’t even know what sort of species the other gods randomly created for the world–or what they were designed to breathed–until after they gave their report. Did the “Alkira Micol” even need 02? The “Monumentals”? She knew for a fact humans did, but the humans that Elicpso just popped into existence and Fantinus gave identities to weren’t necessarily the same as the ones from her Universe. They came into existence before the world finished forming, after all.

In fact, if they looked up, they might see a glowing, violet orb traverse the skies as it washed with blue…for now; Wish particles were fickle things. Whether the sky became red, orange, yellow, green, blue, or purple would be left for the planet to decide.

“What I can do is grant the planet itself, and its future inhabitants, a blessing–the ability to Wish. To desire to survive, thrive, and prosper." It wasn’t sentience for the Planet. It wasn’t a soul. It was just…a simple desire…which she gave to the planet itself as some of the Wish Particles seeped into the “earth”. Perhaps the topic of the next meeting ought to be what to name the planet. “That might help with your domain as well, Bellanelle, but, more importantly, it will allow the layer of Wish Particles I'm spreading to respond to the desires of the planet and take shape, forming its gas composition.”

Below her, she could see Vesa traveling the planet by foot, planting “microbes” here and there. Which ones? Khalandis couldn’t even begin to guess...but the more the better? Natural selection was the rule that let the species that were strong enough to adapt to their current living conditions live to reproduce while the weak ones died…but all gods played favorites so there wasn’t anything “natural” about it. Given how tiny they were, “time” would move faster for them as well. They would live quickly and die quickly…assuming they were alive. Did they even have souls? The cycle of life and death wasn’t Khalandis’s domain.

gradientengalaxie-mit-sternenhintergrund_52683-64606.jpg
Even blessing the planet itself made Khalandis a little tired and she yawned, covering her mouth as she checked the time. Given the pace the rock was traveling it would take 1 hour to fully circle the planet…because was the one moving and that was the time she scheduled. “I'll be done laying down the basic outline for the upper parts of an atmosphere in an hour, but I suspect the formation of essential gasses will take a bit longer. Dudo's wind should help with that..."

She spoke to the leaf. While this is happening, I assume–judging from your request– that you’ll want to assist Vesa in designing the microorganisms” as opposed to organisms “that would populate the world, Fantinus? If so, please be careful. They’ll reproduce quickly and we don’t want disease to overtake the world before the other species are equipped to deal with them…”

Then again, was that really a bad thing? Khalandis glanced down at Hundun’s bulbous mushrooms which were technically the first “microorganisms” to inhabit the planet. Time would see to their change unless the gods designed them to be otherwise. Perhaps she ought to tighten the connection between Time and change/evolution for this Universe as well.

“What do you think, Belle?” Khalandis looked to Bellanelle. As if gods weren’t forces of nature themselves. “I can talk to Eclipso about the placement of his stars as their current perfect, yet stagnant, symmetry doesn't leave room for very many constellations…but the pattern of the stars isn't exactly a priority for the planet at the moment. What else does the planet …or the Universe in general...need?”

VESA
Domains: Life, Death, Souls, creation

latest

Vesa looked up from her work of creating runes in countless variations and while she could make more it would be more fun if Mortals found ways to make new runes themselves. Looking around she found she had in her work created a lush tropical forest all around her. The thick dense foliage spread for miles and miles in all directions as far as the eye could see. It seemed she must have been working for a time as even now she could hear the sounds of animals she didn't recall making. Most likely they were random template animals made to fill niches that were needed or thrived in such an environment. This did remind her she needed to work on the cycle of death and the afterlife, but she had one major task first. She had already made life from death now she would make life from life. Well she would make a race that embodied her aspect of life and all they would do would make would be living. Vesa went around to the many fruit bearing trees and shrubs and even grasses gathering seeds. She picked countless seeds that would fill her hand which changed to better hold them.

Then Seeds in hand Vesa would kill all the plants around her minus she seeds before with a though reseeding the area with life, but leaving it a meadow. Moving to the center Vesa took the blue gen from her dress and planted it in the ground. The jewel became a seed and from it would grow a tree the greatest to exist a living center of a civilization. Then Vesa moved about scattering the seeds letting them take root and start to grow. The seeds grew rapidly and below the surface a great network of roots took shape with the tree at the center. Vesa could wait till the race grew, but she instead fed them energy making them all grow rapidly. From the sprouts grew great stalks which became thick trunks with bulbus pods in their centers. Inside the pods were being that looks almost human, but unlike humans they hand plant features, leaves, bark skin, mushroom hair, stump ears, each a different creature yet all the same race. They came in many colors from deep greens and browns to light rose pinks.

Vesa moved through the grove of pods looking into each as the being within reached their own maturity. It would not take long before the first one broke through the membrane of the pods and came tumbling out the water like sap that had sustained her gushing out with her leaving the ground wet. Vesa watched as she spat up the sap and gasped for air learning how to breath.
" I name you Zaria first of the Govera the children of life" She told the bewildered being that was slowly getting to her feet somehow able to understand the thing before her. " You are second born of my creations, for life is my second nature " She explained " As your sisters soar high in the sky and command death and the dead to you i give life in all shapes and forms" She said leaning down to kiss Zari's forehead even as others awoke male and female " You the children of life I give the ability to bring froth life with all others and more importantly the secret to shape life and change it. The plats are your canvas and flesh your paints with them what you wish to make can be made and yet live in this new shape." She explained " You will know your sisters in the sky not only by their nature but by the runes" She said as runestones floated around the assembled Govesa" I give this magic to the both of my children and now i must go" She finished then vanished.

In a place that was not a place Vesa appeared and stretched out her hands She divided light from dark and made the light into a turning wheel and set it upon the horizon yet it took up most of the sky even then. The wheel soon started to turn as streams of energy were drawn to it as it turned and turned slowly. With the wheel of reincarnation made things that died now could have their souls cleansed of the past and sent once more into the mortal realm. That was not the end of it as Veas brought her hands together and a vast ocean stretching to the wheel formed the waters dark and still. Then Vesa raised and foot and brought it down sand forming below her foot even as she brought it down. With that the beach all grey except the wheel which took on a red but not fiery glow was complete. In moments souls populated the seemingly endless beach, most were drawn instantly into the wheel, animals and the lick that had not higher intellect. This would be the shore of life where all things came before they truly died and could not be brought back to life.

Vesa took as step into the water then another and another deeper and deeper into the waters as all truly dead souls would one day do. Then she emerged on another beach the Wheel of reincarnation now behind her instead of in front as the beach that had been monochromatic was now filled with color. This would be the shore of death the gate into the afterlife Vesa would soon build, but at least now life, death, and rebirth were set.

Months.

Khalandis had named the months after them. Bellanelle wasn't sure how to respond to such an inclusion. For most of her time in the record-keeping department, she found the gods of time were often either very lax or very particular about how they labeled units of their domain. As such, she wasn't sure if Khalandis' jump to using them was reverent or not. Either way, her father had often said that the god of time in his universe had taken such matters with pride, so she allowed herself to feel a small amount of gratitude.

At first, Bellanelle thought Khalandis wouldn't want to aid in the fundamental rules that weren't related to her own domain. Bellanelle could understand, she could also see that they were clearly lacking the number of gods it would take to cover the bases they needed. But so far, they had been able to cover areas they had been lacking in to a certain extent. Bellanelle wasn't certain she could cover the fundamentals herself if Khalandis didn't help, but she would try... for Fantinus' sake.

Luckily for her, Khalandis actually agreed to aid her in the making of certain fundamental laws. Despite the lack of a mouth or facial muscles, Bellanelle's eyes quite literally lit up at the smile the Goddess of time shot her way. She had to pause once again to slow the ticking coming from her internal mechanisms, but kept her focus on Khalandis as she explained her original domain of Wish.

But despite her focus on Khalandis' words, Bellanelle was also keeping track of what was occuring inside her [WORKSHOP]. For at that very moment, a single fax machine began producing pages. From amongst the endless halls of the Workshop, a Dreamkeeper emerged to take hold of these pages. Lifting them up to view, the Dreamkeeper found them to be a number of Bellanelle's template pages, all of them referring to insects from all kinds of universes. The Dreamkeeper didn't need to question her intent, her servant knew her will the moment it held those templates. Stuffing them under an arm, the Dreamkeeper walked back into he halls of the Workshop to get to work.

Meanwhile, Bellanelle was taking notes as she viewed the world before them. Khalandis had brought up the very real issue of what composition for certain elements would be best suited for this world, and indeed other worlds if they ever got around to making them. It was probably the main issue that Fantinus had brought up with them, and the one which would need to be resolved the fastest less the newborn races start dying off before they could even start making their histories.

Luckily, Khalandis offered a fairly impressive solution in the form of Wish Particles. As Bellanelle watched her work, she realized the deeper implications of allowing the mortals desires to effect how these particles work. It would use their very desire to live to shift the compositions of the world automatically to suit them. Natural elements for the races and different ecosystems, it might make travel between certain places a tad difficult but that was something Bellanelle had seen sapient creatures overcome countless times in the past using magic or tools.

"Yes yes, a less potent form of how hopes and desires shape the [DREAMSCAPE], without the drastic changes that so often unfold there." she nodded along with Khalandis' words as she wrote down on a notepad she'd summoned "It might actually be the best course of action considering what we have to start with, impressive!"

ff7r-shinra-laboratory.jpgAs Khalandis turned to address Fantinus' leaf, Bellanelle briefly cast her mind's eye to her Workshop, towards several laboratories where a certain series of experiments were taking place. Giant terrariums populated primarily by template ecosystems were currently being developed as a number of Dreamkeepers worked in the shaping of Bellanelle's mortals. It had been an idea she had upon passing out templates: a race of sapient bugs.

She had seen the concept done in several universe's but nowhere near as much as the other types of mortals that gods seemed to favor. She had no intention of making mechanical mortals, as she was hoping the various races would make mechanical beings of their own once they reached a certain point technologically. She was far more interested in testing her own understanding of Bio-organic mechanisms, seeing where there was crossover. As such, she'd set a group of Dreamkeepers to work utilizing a few templates for bugs to base her mortals off.

So far they were just assembling different designs, bug mortals of different shapes and sizes based off the templates they had. The Dreamkeepers kept giant screens which displayed their designs, while others finished assembling the terrariums for future experiments. Bellanelle looked through many of these potential designs, finding herself spreading approval for some and dissapointment in others. She didn't want to rush the design of her mortals, she wanted them to be functional from their first steps. As such, they would be tested and put through simulations first before she even dreamed about letting them loose on the mortal plane.

With the first experiments ready, Bellanelle casually lifted a hand and [BECKONED] once again. Just as her father did so long ago. There was no change or the other gods and the things on the mortal plane, as she had just given life to a couple of her Dreamkeepers' alpha designs. They would need to go through quite a bit of testing before she would consider them ready.

But with that taken care of, Bellanelle was free to answer Khalandis' question. The Goddess of Time and Wish had rightfully put forth the idea that she and Eclipso could hash out a potentially better placement for the stars, which Bellanelle nodded along with. It would not be here place to comment where the stars should be in relation to one another, though she'd be lying if she said that Fantinus' initial placement was as awe inspiring as others she'd seen in her time.

Not that she'd ever say such things to his face.

But after that, Khalandis sought aid figuring out what next they could work on. Bellanelle clammed up at that, having been so focused on what the mortals needed most that she let the rest of the Fundamental laws drift from the forefront of her mind. But as much as she wanted to say that they'd gotten it just right, she knew that Fantinus had implied much more work when his leaf had first approached her.

"Well, if the Wish particles take care of shaping the world's finer chemistry then... um..." Bellanelle flipped through her notes "Apologies, I've seen universes being made numerous times, but I've never actually been chosen to head one myself before. I was actually just acting as a minor god of Dreams before."

She tapped the edge of her clipboard for a moment as her forgotten stein floated past her once again.

"Honestly, my desk job in record-keeping should've prepared me more for this, but I suppose it's just a little overwhelming being in the same seat my father held so long ago." she gave a hum of amusement, but lowered her clipboard as she looked back to Khalandis "Unfortunately the Dreamscape is based more on perception than reality, so the hard set rules needed for an actual world might be beyond me."

She raised her clipboard again "However, Fantinus simply asked for the fundamental rules in place, and I believe your wish particles will help the world and its inhabitants obtain a cohesion before long. We might even see some primal elementals develop from the planet's wish sooner or later."

Letting her clipboard float from her grasp, Bellanelle turned her attention from the planet to the space around it.

"A part of me wants the universe to look less empty, but I'd rather not attempt to form other planets before this one has achieved its cohesion." she mused, there was no need to let herself get distracted so soon "I'm not even sure if we should do more work at such a scale at this very moment. Physics and chemistry should form a standard over time, I feel as though the cycle of death and life is already under construction, and I'm not sure if the others are already working on the necessary weather systems or not."

Then again, what weather systems were truly necessary at this point? The universe was a sandbox that could work in whatever way they wanted as long as it worked efficiently. Bellanelle wondered briefly how necessary the fundamental rules would be if they designed the world to simply function without them. It wasn't as though it was beyond them, they were the creators after all. But again, her inexperience with certain things made her hesitant to even bring such a thing up. Bellanelle would have to form more labs in her workshop and test out just how far she could push her powers of Creation, until then there were too many risky factors involved.

All of the other gods were hard at work, which was nice for Hundun. Creation was not always part of her duties, so much as to watch. To cultivate and nurture. And equally as much to test, to menace and to terrify when she pleased it. It was an often-held notion that when sapient mortal life sprung up in a universe, the nature of gods and their domains would gradually become bound to a certain degree by their belief. Darkness was one of these things, as was medicine. Shadows were akin to uncharted land to some, a great unknown that served to hide their enemies, their fears. Something to be banished with fire and light, often romanticized as some "light of reason" or "innovation". But to others, it was a protector, a comfort, concealing them in turn from the dangers of the world.

The same could be said for "physick"; plants and minerals often developed various reactions to the life forms that populated each world, and often became conduits for magic if such a system was implemented. Those that could master these fields to heal and maim could be lauded as sages and scholars...or loathed as witches and heretics.

It was time to share some of her knowledge with the inhabitants of this world.

Rolling up her scroll and tying a knot with a red cord around it for the time being, Hundun slid it into a drawer on her desk, leaving it unlocked in case her compatriots might like to peruse it.

Her joints creaked for a moment as she finally managed to stand up again. She bent her knees slightly...and kicked off.

Floating through the void, it didn't take long for Hundun to land on the moon, to the curious gazes of Eclipso's Moon Children. Straddling the penumbra of the orbiting mass of rock, she smiled and beckoned to them.

"Shall we...be friends...? Come...play in the dark..." Her faint voice carried into their ears, imparting them with a sense of comfort as they cheerfully trod over to her, their excitement evident even behind their masks. Stepping into the dark side of the moon, her hands reached out to embrace them. Surely Eclipso would know, but he probably wouldn't mind.

The Moon Children might remember this visitation for quite some time to come, as Hundun danced and played with them on the dark side of the moon, banishing any notion of fear and doubt should they ever find their part of the moon shrouded in shadow.

A human woman clutched her feverish baby close in a sling, venturing into a forested ruin far from the outskirts of a settlement she had been cast out of. Some among the people had called her child's poisoning by a snake divine punishment, but even so she was not dissuaded from searching for a remedy in the scarce few hours her precious progeny might have left.

"Follow...me..."

A voice blew over the wind, leading her deeper into the ruins that had been seeded across this section of the planet. In what seemed like a blink of an eye to the gods, dripping water and limestone led to all kinds of plants springing up in the caves that held the ruins. The woman blinked, squinting as she ventured deeper underground. Unfortunate, as always, that so many species relied on light and sight. As reluctant as she was to do so, Hundun held the shadows back ever so slightly from her field of view, creating what appeared to be a path of faint silvery light before the woman. It led her not far, but there was no way she would have found it if not for Hundun's intervention.

The trail ended at a cluster of thorny flowers, each one gleaming a faint blue in the dark as ants scuttled over their stems.

"Take this...save your child..." Indeed, those buds, once pulverized, could be administered to the site of the snakebite to enter the bloodstream and neutralize the burning in the child's blood. The damage would have been done, but the child's very life could still be saved.

"..." With shaking hands, the woman gathered as many of those buds as she could carry. "...Thank you." Her murmuring voice was barely audible over the dripping of water that had formed stalagmites over generations.

Should the woman return after, she and her descendants would have the opportunity to make many new and valuable discoveries in the ruins. Not only physick, but all manner of history and technology that would be worth much as long as they believed the truth that appeared "false" to the gods. But for now...would her people accept her discovery and believe the survival of her child? That was not part of Hundun's domain...and she could only hope.

The Govesa were another interesting species, created to embody the capabilities and ideals of Vesa (so of course she'd name them that). Their abilities were versatile and powerful, truly bearing their creator's might. But few things were perfect and seamless, and not every specimen might react the same. So in the few cases where pain and deformity might result from the exercise of their powers...

Hundun stopped by for a moment, choosing not to appear openly to them just yet. But she nevertheless chose to bless the bark of a certain grove of trees near their homes that they could extract and inscribe with runes. With their mastery of the runes Vesa offered to them, these strips of tree bark could relieve pain and prevent the worst mishaps when affixed properly to subjects of their fleshshaping.

The nascent Nomes, however, did not receive quite so much of a blessing. As they slept, Hundun walked among them and whispered into their ears. She whispered nightmares to them, experiences that could hardly be called "visions" for they were terrors without sight. The sensation of being consumed, swallowed up by shadows. The experience of being choked, unable to move or speak. Darkness that pervaded their very being and threatened to turn them inside out.

Fear...was it an effective motivator? Would this drive them to form a bulwark against the Crawling Chaos she seeded beneath them? Only time would tell, and either result would be rather nice to see.

Finally, satisfied for the moment, Hundun ventured to the pole, the cold snow barely chilling her numb, necrotic feet as she admired the clear sky through the chilly air. There it was, remote and worthy beyond measure, the Flower of Restoration. She sat on one of the large, bulbous mushrooms she planted by it, admiring her slow-growing, even-tempered handiwork. Perhaps, by some accident of emotion, one day it would be happy to have been sat on by her.

Hundun:

  • Befriended Eclipso's Moon Children
Gifted Humans and Govesa with remedies to their most pressing ills
  • Introduced nightmares to the subconscious of the Nomes, making them aware of the Crawling Chaos
