Fantasy The God Game 2.0

yeah but if they follow the lay lines they are likely to have problems avoiding the hedrons i can just seem them bumping into them

Well, it doesn't do it consciously. Reve doesn't understand how magic works, so he just surrounded his island in raw magic, this acts like a bubble so that when it approaches something, such as a mountain, it will naturally float over it.

I will admit that it is a funny image.

yeah kinda wonder how something meant to pin magic down would react to raw magic ... meh doesn't matter just means they can be neighbors

That is fine. Anyway, the island spends a very small time at the nexus, most of it's time is spent traveling across the planet.

Race: The Wrath

Description: Large and muscular humanoids. With pointy ears, sharp teeth and a rich variety of skin colour ranging from deep gray to bright green. Their maximum lifespan extends to about 50 years, but this is of little consequence, as no Wrath considers even the possibility of dying of old age.

Warbringer-Dragons-of-Tarkir-MtG-Art.jpg

Behaviour: Though they are called the Wrath by nearly everyone, in reality there is no name for their race. Wrath is the name of their culture, and anyone who joins them is considered to be of the Wrath, regardless of race. Likewise, any people that aren't Wrath are named Pieces. A derogatory term aimed at the peaceful nature of many of the other races, at least in comparison with the Wrath. It doubles as an indication of what these outsiders will look like after the Wrath are done with them.

Wrath culture is a meritocracy, revolving almost entirely on fighting and survival. The best boasts a Wrath can make is listing the many things that have failed to kill him or her. This has led to a culture of glory-hounds. The Wrath are constantly searching for ever greater challenges to overcome. This holds true especially for young males, as no self-respecting Wrath woman would ever lay with someone who hasn’t proven their strength.

Older Wrath tend to be more calm and thoughtful, at least compared to the youngsters. This is in part because by then they’ll likely have enough feats to earn themselves children, but it’s mostly because only the truly strong and/or intelligent Wrath survive to see middle-age.

Most Wrath are nomadic, constantly chasing the godstorms to make use of the plants and animals that thrive in a godstorm’s wake. Some Wrath however chose to live in the swamplands in the South of Koz’ continent. There their natural resistance to disease gives them an edge against other organic races. That the swamps are infested with Xir’ain’s unholy horrors is considered a bonus.

Traits:

Health: The Wrath are unnaturally resilient, capable of recovering from nearly any injury and possessing resistance to most diseases and toxins. They even have minor regenerative abilities, though not enough to recover lost limbs.

True Warrior: The Wrath have no talent in spell-casting, preferring to leave that to the other races in the horde. They are however formidable warriors. Possessing of the strength and reflexes that makes even an untrained Wrath into an opponent that cannot be easily ignored.

Blood Rage: In the heat of battle, when their life is on the line, a Wraith may descend into a murderous rage. Slaughtering everything in their path with no regard for self-preservation. In this state they feel no pain, and are resistant to mind-control as the rage makes control impossible even for themselves.

Virility: The Wrath reproduce quickly and reach maturity after just a few years. This is necessary to sustain a horde that literally throws itself into danger at every opportunity.

Now if @Wyatt and me pool points to make humans I can do a new quest I thought of yesterday. Provided the humans start with village-building capabilities.

Can I assume you don't have to spend points to teach them every little thing, just novel magic and technology that the other races don't have (yet).

Here's my idea for a creature that creates clouds and rain. It doesn't really have any magical properties, but I figure its size alone bumps it out of being a standard creature. Xir'ain will get to creating it whenever he actually starts filling the oceans with more animal life.

Name: Avaros, or the Greater Rain Serpent

Description: Long serpentine creatures of unimaginable size. Often surrounded by clouds. They don't appear to have any visible eyes, and it's believed they navigate using sound.

Behavior: Despite their immense size and strange appearance, Avaros are generally harmless. They feed by dipping their head into the ocean and sucking in water through the long slits that run along the front of its head. Once it's swallowed a large amount of water the water is separated into pure water, salt, and everything else. The everything else is treated as food and is digested. The salt is expelled through the two slits on the top of the Avaros' head on either side of its frontal crest. Avaros always expel the swallowed salt back into the ocean before they continue moving on. The filtered water stays in the Avaros as it moves on from its feeding spot, being released back out over time as vapor. The tiny amount of waste the Avaros produces is mixed with the vapor and seeds the massive clouds that form around the creature as it exhales all of the water it swallowed. While not particularly intelligent, Avaros seem to have incredible memory, always returning to the same feeding spots, following the same paths as they travel around the planet, finding their way to the breeding grounds from wherever they are. Outside of the period of infancy when young Avaros live in the ocean and are still small enough for certain other creatures to try hunting them, it is rare for an Avaros to be killed. They are simply too large for anything to harm them, but in the rare event that one is killed, its fall is likely to crush everything below, and afterwards the other Avaros gathering to mourn the dead usually causes incredible flooding across the entire region, followed by long periods without rainfall until another Avaros begins to follow that path again. If an Avaros is nearing death from disease or age, it will drop down into the ocean to prevent a fall and to make itself food for the many creatures within the oceans.

Traits:

Immense Size - Avaros grow to unimaginable sizes. The movements of larger individuals can easily be followed from space, though that isn't saying much considering all you have to do is looks for a trail of clouds to find where the Avaros is.

Sounds Bigger Too - Avaros are usually thought of as being silent, but really they're constantly communicating with one another through sounds to deep for creatures to hear or even feel. On the occasion when Avaros communicate with sounds other creatures are able to hear the sounds range from incredibly high pitched to hear to so deep it feels like the planet is going to vibrate apart. Needless to say, some of these sounds aren't safe for other creatures. Thankfully the only time Avaros gather regularly and tend to communicate at that level is for mating, and most creatures know well enough to stay away then.

An argument can be made it needs some magic in order to grow that big and still stay afloat. But regardless of that, do you want it to have interaction with Koz's storms?

Edit: also I kind of assumed there are going to be horrors in the swamp at some point in the future. This okay?

I gave dragons the trait flying because of it, but they were going to be magical anyway. what with spawning from a thundercloud and all. So I defer to gm authoritah

meh i wasn't goign to mention anythign abotu them they are dragons dragons fly they have wings

Still way too big and heavy. At this point wings are just for steering. And Avaros has a big-ass tail for that.
