Hikari Chan
Miss Hikari
August viewed the drawings silently, using the black flashlight which the deputy mistress had suggested. They were quite disturbing, but he could not see any connection between them and Celeste's painting that illustrated the gruesome torture of the man with the cauldron on his belly. He stifled a laugh, being totally clueless, despite Mulciber had been filling him in with what had happened lately.
"Where did you get this painting from?" Aislinn asked with a piercing glance.
"I bought it from an art exhibit," August did not conceal the truth, but did not reveal any details either.
"Mr. August Dolohov. There are, only Merlin knows how much, millions of art exhibits over the world. Where did you get this particular painting from?" She pressed.
"From an art exhibit in Rouen," He forced himself to say. ...Merlin, Monroe is so persistent...tsk her family name isn't known as mine and she has to be my superior...
Aislinn gave him a long look, not revealing what she was thinking. She decided to wait with further questions until Adela came to take a closer look at both the painting and the drawings. And it did not take long until she knocked at the door and entered the meeting room.
Adela took a close look at every drawing, however she did not need to use the black flashlight to see the alternative illustration of each one of them. Instead she used her wand to create the different light she needed. She could feel August's cold eyes on her when she investigated the painting, moving her wand alongside the fine lines and every brush stroke of the art. She stopped for a moment, still holding her wand over the painting and looked up, meeting his piercing gaze who screamed that this painting belonged to him. ...Merlins' beard, he seems to be on the edge as if I dare to destroy this painting...She sighed inwardly and averted his cold eyes.
"Well...there's nothing extraordinary with the drawings, other than the one who drew them used his or her wildest imagination along with lemon juice to create alternate illustrations. A typical muggle method. Since the person behind these drawings, drew so badly as an adult and used a cheap muggle method to hide the disturbing illustrations behind innocent looking drawings, he or she is overexaggarating with the illustrated destructions. The Fiendfyre could possibly be released, but in such an open space..." She pointed at the drawing where the Quidditch field was burning to the ground mid-match. "...anyone on their brooms can escape it. Besides there's a charm to cease this kind of fire down. We are not that powerless as the artist may be thinking. The creatures that inhabits the forbidden forests are too timid to leave and step out outside, even if most of them are dangerous. Besides this school is so old, we all know it was founded around the year 990. The founders have protected it heavily with strong magic that wouldn't wear off that easily. From what I know from the wizarding history, there has never been an earthquake here or anywhere else in the wizarding world. Well, what shall I say..." She shrugged. "...Wizards and witches have always been able to protect their places all over the world and we are not different. Did the person who draw these underestimate us? By the way, may I know where you got these drawings from, please?"
"They were found in Cattermole's trunk," Alexander replied curtly and did not fill in the rest of the details.
"I see...well, with that being said..." Adela continued. "...these have been drawn on a whim, in order words, the artist has just illustrated several random ideas of how to destroy us and this place. What the drawings only have in common is that they are gruesome and describe too farfetched ideas. No more or less. From what I can understand from these drawings, is that the artist hates us deeply and expresses his or her hatred through art. There's no order of how these ideas are planned to take place since they were drawn randomly or whichever may take place, if the artist is really planning to put any of this ideas into action. Further on, of what I can magically read from the pencil strokes, these were all drawn during the same day, in the following order..." Adela placed out the drawings in a horizontal line, the first one, illustrating Peeves, on the left end of the table where Luna was sitting. The first drawing was followed by the drawing that illustrated the overflowing bathrooms, the third one was the oversized Whomping Willow, fourth was the burning Quidditch field, followed by the creatures leaving the Forbidden Forest and then came the earthquake followed by the last and most disturbing drawing where the Slytherin's flag was being trampled. "It does not say much if the there's an internal or external threat. Anyway, we do not need to worry that any of this may happen, because it won't. I believe the artist just wanted to let us know about how much he or she hates us by leaving us these drawings. If there is any enemy, they would never give away their ideas like this if they are really planning to attack us," Adela gathered all the drawings together and placed them in front of Luna. Melody seemed to have brightened up and looked much calmer after Adela had completed her investigation of the drawings.
"As for this painting, there's another story," Adela continued. "It illustrate the gruesome torture method which muggles used during the Tudor period in England. There's no magic behind this painting and from what I could magically read from the brush strokes is that the painting is not that old. It has a couple of years behind its back. And everything is so detailed and perfectly drawn as if the artist has captured a real torture incident."
Upon hearing his sister's last words, August's face turned redder than tomato.
"You are hiding something, aren't you?" Aislinn was observing him closely, noticing how the color of his face changed suddenly.
"I have nothing to hide," August voice was steady but the look in his face betrayed him. "I was visiting Rouen during the summer where I came across the art exhibit and bought the painting."
