Yes.Ok, so they are closer to Star Wars lasers than proper lasers?
Those aren't a thing here.Any word on superheated rounds?
Stuff that advanced is currently being developed. Again, things are just starting out, so nothing super tech-y is available just yet. If you really want some heated ammunition, you may want to talk to Bill Nein 's character Elder Holland.Nah? So you can't, for example, make a custom gun that used parts from both laser/plasma guns and regular guns to make it shoot Incendiary bullets? Maybe not quite superheated but certainly hot.
There is, but it's illegal.Alright, that's cool, I think I'll just stick to a Laser Pistol. Is there a way to decrease the ammo count to make it more powerful?
My mistake; I should have worded that better. Modifying a gun to increase power without the knowledge or approval of the Gov is not allowed. Too many criminals have used that method of powering up guns for the Gov to leave unnoticed. Registration and governmental supervision is necessary for it now, but even then, some folk still don't do it.Why? Is it that bad to make your laser gun blast holes in stuff?
If you have a clear reason as to why you want to increase power by reducing ammunition, and it's lawful, then it shouldn't be too hard to allow the Gov to aid you in modifying your firearm.Ok, do you think that if I got it registered it would be fine? Or is it that difficult?
Self-defense like that is a legitimate reason, though you'll need to clarify what your definition of "self-defense" is.Does wanting to live through the next cargo run count as a legitimate reason?
Then yes. It's legitimate. My definition of "self-defence" is if someone is trying to attack me or my truck or otherwise steal my shipment I'm going to blast a hole in them.
All good things.Thanks. I like to get invested in the world. I also find that answering a lot of questions helps me as a GM to flesh out the world.
So how effective is an assault rifle against power armor? I'm sure it varies on the type of assault rifle but in general how much power does a gun need to seriously threaten an armored opponent?
On a normally-protected area of power armor, a consistent stream of ballistic rounds in the same place should shear through in about 20 seconds. On a weak point or important life-support line, one shot gets right through. Life-support lines are pretty well-protected, though, so hitting them would be difficult.Oh, and about how long can a suit keep you alive in the desert? Stuff like oxygen, water, and power supply, how long do those last?
