Fantasy [THE FOREST] (RP thread)

"Touched a never? Listen to her already and leave." He smiled at him, mockingly, before turning around.

“God I hate humans so much…” *Lux turns around, he was definitely making plans to get back at the person that had insulted him and his species, but for now, he just had to follow Ivana*

He placed his gun back onto its holster, then walked away, ocassionally glancing back at the creatures he had just seen. "My father was right... they're too vicious for our own good." He thought, shivering at the thought of facing them again.

Ivana gave Lux a look that clearly said 'I feel you'. She turned, continuing to follow the path that she had made herself a while before. In the distance, you could see the mountain peeking out from behind the trees. Ivana's anger had not fully subsided though, that much was obvious. "Now do you understand why I was so hesitant about helping this one here?" she asked, indicating the wounded soldier. "Even if we try to lend a helping hand, humans will always be humans."

He continued walking around, looking for any traces of human activity. "A solider, in this place? Are there more around here?" He thought, placing his hand on his holster once more.

“Yeah, I see why now. The only reason I really want to help this one is because I remember when I was found by my friends and I was just as hurt as him, they made sure I didn’t die, so I wanted to do the same for someone else.”

He decided to settle for the night, he carefully took his backpack off then neatly arranged his supplies. He took out a small bag, and began setting up a tent. Of course, it looked better in his imagination. Instead of a tent, it looked more like a bunch of rags supported by weak sticks. "Home sweet home..." he muttered.

She smiled sadly, her ears drooping slightly. "You're a very kind soul. But you shouldn't give your sympathy so freely like that. Mark my words, people will take that for granted." Ivana said sagely. The sun was setting by the time they returned to the base of the mountain. The air was already windy and chilled, and the greenery was slowly turning into frost and snow. "Now all we have to do is make it to the top." She smirked slightly, and added, "That fool didn't heed my warning- I said my clan dislikes humans. We live at the peak. Where does that mean the bodies are?" She pointed to where the top would be, although it was surrounded by thick, gray clouds. "And he's supposed to be an investigator. Really, what a joke." she muttered, making sure her cloak was properly fastened around Lux before beginning the long climb back up the mountain.

“Huh, I’ve never really been around snow before… whenever it does snow, I stay in a sheltered area with all the food I’ve stored up.”

"Ah, that's right, you do a sort of hibernation." Ivana recalled. "Well, don't worry, the mountain's a lot less taller than it looks. If you get too tired or too cold to continue climbing, just tell me, okay?" she added, noting that the sun had already set. As the pair climbed, the wind began to whip their faces and a flurry began to encircle them, snow already dusting the ground, even though they had only started the trip upwards.

He grabbed a small pocket knife from his bag, then began striking a piece of flint he found. He smirked, proudly, as some small sparks flew off "Hah! And they said being a boy scout was useless. Who's laughing now?!" Small pieces of dry wood caught on fire, he improvised a small campfire by covering it with twigs and rocks. Soon enough, a column of smoke quickly rose.

*Lux, not having dealt with snow or blizzards before, seemed oddly proficient in staying warm while the wind was whipping, he didn’t seem too bothered by it, he was just slowed down a bit*

He lied down on his makeshift bed, then closed his eyes. He fell asleep quickly, feeling comfortable a nice campfire was protecting him from any wild animals.

Ivana, however, just climbed up the mountain like this was something she did every day, which it probably was. She wasn't even slowed down by the addition of the extra weight of the person she was carrying.

Time skip because reasons

The moon had risen, and the flurry had long since turned into fully fledged snow. Still, through the snowflakes, Ivana had noticed a cloud of smoke rising from the forest. "What a shame." she said bitterly, "I was hoping that he got attacked by wolves or something, would have served him right. But no matter, we're nearly there now! Are you doing okay, Lux?"

For some reason, his sleep was interrupted. He felt something observing, stalking him, ready to strike. He sat up, paying close attention to any noise, trying to spot anything under the moonlight.

“Yeah… just fine… a bit cold, if anything…” *Lux was shivering, but he still looked okay enough to press on*

He stood up then walked out of his tent, looking at the sky. He stared at the mountain peak as it reflected the moonlight like some sort of beacon. "Damn it! I'm going to freeze to death here!"

She nodded, and remarked, "As soon as we get there, I'll get you something to warm you up." They continued trekking up the mountain, and soon you could see many lights through the snow. But something else came up, something much more horrifying- there were dead human bodies scattered around now, some of them with bashed-in heads, others looking like their bodies were skewed by antlers. They were perfectly preserved by the cold. Ivana continued past them, paying no mind to them.

“Jesus… so, this is where all the humans disappeared to, huh?” *Lux looks around, he seemed a bit uncomfortable with all the bodies around*

Trying to resist the urge to vomit, he picked up his flashlight and began running up the mountain. He pulled his small radio out of his belt, then shouted "OH GOD, THEY'RE ALL HERE! They're still... Whole. Almost." He gagged, as the horrifying sight got closer to him.

“Hm? I think someone’s here…” *Lux looks around, the snow and the wind making him squint his eyes and restricting his vision made it hard for him to see anything*

"Mhmm." Ivana replied. She was not at all fazed. However, she noticed a light coming from behind them, and she turned around, hearing a familiar voice over the sound of the wind. "Ah, great, look who's coming to see us." Her voice was very much sarcastic, but instead of sticking around to let him catch up to them, she turned back around and continued plowing through the snow, the lights of the community bright from where they were.

The nausea won over him, he knelt down and began vomiting. He slowly stood up, covering his vomit with some snow. "I should wait here... maybe until some reinforcements arrive." He thought, still shaken.

Ivana heard the sound of retching, and added, "Must have found the bodies. Anyways, come on Lux, we're almost at the entrance. We'll be able to get out of this cold any minute now."

“Thank god…” *Lux quickens his pace, eager to escape the cold*
