Fantasy [THE FOREST] (RP thread)

He looked around the forest, now having a vantage point, trying to spot any officers entering the forest. "Come on... You are just minutes away..."

Ivana smiled, but her mind was racing. She had heard that reinforcements were coming...what could that mean for her clan, who lived so close by? She made a mental note to tell the chief of her clan as soon as she could. Eventually, the snow faded to a light flurry again, and the pair made it to the entrance gate. Two burly guards stood in front of the entrance, considering Ivana's company. "Relax, you big dopes, they're with me. They mean no harm." She said calmly. The guards hesitated, then stepped aside to let them in.

*Lux followed behind hesitantly, intimidated by the guards at the gate. He wasn’t sure if anyone in the town would take too kindly to something that looks like a tiny human*

He sat on ground, surrounded by snow, groaning. He grew impatient, constantly checking his radio at the slightest hint of noise. It dawned on him, however, that he seemed to be in a dead zone.

Ivana pulled Lux along, into the small village, very much contrasted to the mountain, it was cheery and full of light. People stared at them as they walked past though. Some looked curious, others looked angry. "Keep your head down until we make it to the medic center." she warned.

*Lux just looks down at the ground, acting almost as if he weren’t there, he didn’t want any problems, he really didn’t feel like dying that day.*

They made their way into the village square, where it appeared that most people were, as all the markets, taverns, and other shops were. Everyone had the same odd features Ivana did. Soon, they pushed their way through the crowded square and into the medic center. "Help us, help this man." Ivana said to the woman behind the front desk. She looked appalled at the sight of a human, but there was a fierceness in Ivana's eyes that made the woman ring a bell, signaling for a free medic to come and take a look at the soldier.

*Lux stayed close to Ivana, he didn’t want to risk being stepped on by anyone around them*

A medic and two nurses came and took the man away from Ivana, laying him on a wheeled stretcher, hurrying away. They all looked the same way the front desk lady did, shocked, curious, and angry. "And don't you dare do anything other than help him. I didn't come all the way up here with him for you to harm him in any way!!" Ivana called after them. "I'll be back soon and I expect to see him in good condition!!"

*Lux sighs, trusting that the doctors won’t hurt the soldier* “what do we do now? What if someone sees me and decides to attack me?”

"They won't, as long as you stay by me." Ivana told him confidently, smiling gently and leading him out of the clinic. "We're inclined to be more trusting to non-humans. As long as we assure them that you are in fact not human, they shouldn't cause you any harm. Besides, you're a child. Only the cruelest of us would try to hurt you. Now come along, I'll take you to my house, you can warm up there."

"Well, if no one's here to help me, I'll just do it myself!" He continued climbing uphill, counting the victims as he went up.

The investigator soon made it to the village gates, where the two burly guards stood, giant clubs in their hands, leering down at him menacingly.

He let out a nervous laugh as he rubbed his hands "Ah... Ehm... This must be your village, correct?" he took a step back out of caution, he quickly covered his police badge with his hand.

(I’m back! I had to take in groceries-)
”alright, sure! I’ll go to your house!” *Lux seems a bit excited at the prospect of going into a house, it was rare that he got to even see a house, let alone be inside a house!*

"Tough crowd, aren't you? I know my kind isn't... welcome here." He looked back at the pile of corpses, wondering if he'll have a similar fate.

The guards said nothing, they simply glared down at him for a few more seconds before one of them grabbed him roughly by the back of his collar while the other one opened up the gates so they both could enter the village.
"Do you think that the chief's granddaughter and that little imp has anything to do with this?" One grunted. The other nodded. "Well then, let's bring the intruder to the chief, then tell her that she should summon her granddaughter for questioning." the first one replied.

Ivana was a bit confused by Lux's enthusiasm, before connecting the dots.
"Well, I'm sure you'll like our house, it's quite cozy."

“Alright! Well, lead the way!” *Lux was completely unaware of the fact the detective had followed them to the town*

"I... I plead the fifth!" He writhed and squirmed, trying to get out of the guard's grasp.

The guards paid him no mind, they just continued to talk to each other as they walked through the village, pushing smaller jackalopes out of the way as they did. The onlookers stared at the intruder with much curiosity and fright, just as he had done to Ivana earlier that day. Soon, they reached a large manor, presumably where the chief resided.

"Great! If you'll follow...me...?" Ivana stopped in her tracks, as the guards had crossed their path, and gazed at the wriggling detective in amusement and shock.

“Huh. Looks like they caught that jerk. I hope he suffers.” *Lux had no sympathy for the detective whatsoever, these times where he had no sympathy were rare, but always justified.

He glared at them as he passed by, yelling at them "Oh, great! I'm glad to see you too!". He continued his attempts at freeing himself, now trying to kick the guards off him. As the shadow of the manor cast over him, he inmediately stopped. "I'm... done for." he muttered.

"Me too. But it's up to my grandma what happens to him." Ivana replied, smirking broadly and waving goodbye at the detective as the guards walked away.

The guard holding him held him at a distance, making sure he couldn't kick him, as the other opened the door for them. Inside, a very old and saged jackalope sat in an elaborate chair, making her look like royalty. The walls were lined with ancient weapons and books on shelves. The guards threw the detective at the chief's feet. "An intruder." the one that had been holding him grunted.

He hit the ground with a loud thud, letting out a strong groan. As he slowly recovered his footing, he felt as if the weapons were pointed towards him. He looked up towards the jackalope, feeling as if her presence alone was enough to crush him.

The old woman looked down upon him, her expression unreadable. "Where did you find him?"
"At the entrance, of course."
One of the guards replied. "He arrived shortly after your granddaughter, who was accompanied by a small human-looking child, and carrying a body of another human."
The chief sighed. "...Fetch me Ivana, will you?" One of the guards hurried off.
