Fantasy The Experiment

Dark was just settling in on the fenced in wilderness, and most of the 'subjects' had escaped into the oddly placed house. A small, dark figure watched, hunkered down in the underbrush near the edge of the grassy clearing that made up the front 'lawn'. She had been there for hours, silently observing all the busyness of the other 'subjects', wanting to know the situation before stepping into it. She had always been a bit careful, but since her capture about a year ago, she had become absolutely apprehensive about everything.

When the voice called out "Release!" The small black doe didn't move more than raising her head. The ride to this 'drop off' was fairly long, and though she had not been drugged for it, there had been a cover on her wire cage, so she had not been able to see anything. Looking around, she noticed it was a deciduous forest. Tall leafy trees, shrubs and grass everywhere, and even flowers where the sunlight was able to trickle down in through the canopy.

Craning her long neck, she couldn't see any other cages from where she lay though she knew there were more of them. there had been enough clamor in the truck that transported to be at least three others, and potentially she was be one of the smallest 'animals', as it only took one of them to lift her cage out of their truck. She tucked her head back down and quietly scanned the forest, even after her cage had been remotely opened. Her long, soft ears flicked as the brush rustled and branches snapped as her fellow 'subjects' were released into their faux wild. She could hear at least four from where she sat, there were more of them than she thought.

An hour or so after everyone had gone, she allowed her self to leave the cage, and slowly made her way in the opposite direction than everyone else seemed to be going, taking her time to munch on some of the fresh green grass along the way. It had been so long since she had had a salad, and this was not exactly what she would normally tend to, but this new form of hers was quite peaceful, and made finding food so much easier.

'Hmm. A silver lining.' she mused, 'Go figure that irony is found everywhere.'

Se wondered on until she came upon a fence, buzzing with electricity. She looked on, and thought she saw guard towers further down, but that it seemed to go on forever. Traveling it a bit further to see if there was anything to learn of their position or purpose there, the ebony fawn noticed it was similar forest on the other side of that fence.

Her mind started to go over all that she knew; they were in a forest, most likely still being watched, and there was seemingly no way out. Guard posts suggested a few thongs in and of them selves; there was not only a need to box them in past using a fence, and potentially a danger in them being discovered by the out side. She wondered if maybe there were not all four legged, guards could be on watch for flyers. and the fact that they were in a forest, in the middle of no where, was puzzling. what could they be up to that they needed to be so secluded? and who was funding all of this anyway?

She sighed (or brayed, rather), her survival skills kicking in. She needed to find water, and hopefully some berries. Could this stomach handle berries? She didn't even know the diets of deer, but grass was surprisingly tastier, almost had a fruity taste to her now. She had managed to find a small lake area where the grass was taller and the ground softer, she could almost relax here. Almost.

After a few hours of scoping out her new surroundings the deer had ended up watching the auspiciously placed house and all its tenets. By her count there were at least seven others, probably more. What she had seen had made her more than a bit uncomfortable. They all were a bit broken-not at all like normal teenagers-but shells. Scarred and yet, all too trusting of this house and each other. The newly found nature of the others was quite a bit different than her own, enough so that it made her hair stand on edge. Not just because she seemed to be the only one not playing into this little 'camping experiment', but by their own physical changes, as well.

A wolf, a fox, tiger, cat, hawk, a lioness... And those were just the ones who had changed in the open field. There were others she had only seen as humans, in their original form.

What exactly were these scientist up to? Why did she seem to be the only herbivore? She was already not pleased with the irony that her vegetarianism was able to follow her even into this form. And, by her own accord, there was an alarming ratio of women to men. Her ears flickered, as close to blushing as a doe could get, at the thought that their purpose could be 're-population' or 'breeding'. Wouldn't that be the most awkwardly awful thing?

Not too long ago, a few had left the house (the tiger, soon fallowed by the feline, and then the bird and a reluctant lioness) but returned. After they had returned, another two had left (the wolf-who came mere paces from her- and one of the girls). Still reluctant to join the growing madness, but knowing she needed to change soon and desperately wanted a hot shower (a luxury even her compliance wouldn't grant her at their previous holding) she argued with herself about approaching the house.
Hey guys, I am so sorry for the wall of text!! I didn't have access to internet for a day. I signed up, and came back to 13 pages! I had to catch up!!

If I could request that we allow time for everyone to get a reply in before going back and forth? When I am at work, its possible I wont be able to respond for eight hours at a time. So far its been pretty interesting, but I don't want to have 10+ pages to go through every day.

Sasha ran through the forest. It was stangely quiet and the only sond that could reach her ears was the distant buzz from the fence. It was a big forest, and it was beautiful. There was a small lake not far from the haus, there she had forced herself into her snake form and taken a bath. Now she was clean and cooled down and she lied and sunbathed on a stone. She spotted a birdnest up in a tree and the hungry snake took over and she started to climb it. As the snake, that was easy.

In the nest there was tree eggs, wich she ate. She was now full and droped down from the tree and transformed back to human on the ground. She walked back to the haus, thinking about the others animals and how useless her own was. She was particulary jealous of the Eagle-guy, who was an eagle. A bird. He could fly. She had always dreamed about flying. Leaving the ground below and doing loops in the sky. But all that she could do was to crawl around in the dust.

She went back in the haus.

xx0mittens0xx updated The Experiment with a new update entry:

Postings

Please give some time for people to catch up on the rp. I know there's quite a few of us so it's not hard for a few pages to easily catch up, but if you find yourself talking back and forth with just one or two people, pause of a bit for others to put a reply in too. Otherwise the others have no where to incorporate their post and I don't want people to give up and just abandon the rp.

The red-head watches the as the two felines some how managed to fall asleep on the couch before following the wolf outside, quite fond of the idea of steak. "I haven't had steak in forever" She says quietly standing to the side of him and breathing in to get a smell of the steak, even not quite cooked yet they still smelt delicious. "I can make my own" She suggests to Sam, not wanting to seem like a free-loader. "Oh and I'm Lily by the way"

"Ok" he replied moving over to the side a bit. "I'm Sam. I figure these people are going to want something closer to a real meal soon." He took off a piece that hadn't been on very long and placed it to the side. Noticing the odd look she gave him he said "I'm a carnivore. If it's warm like this it's more like a fresh kill. Sorry, this sounds weird. A few times they tossed hunks of meat into my cell, and I always preferred the warner ones." He paused fora moment. "It's not like I trust this place, but or options are limited, know what I mean?"

She nods. "I like mine medium rare but not that rare. And believe me it takes a lot fore to consider something weird nowadays. What did they change you into? I got a fox..." she states before flipping one of the steaks she was eyeing to let it cook a tad bit longer. "Yeah I wish I knew what they were planning but at least everyone seems to be getting along"

Sasha went outside to the wolf-boy and the new girl. It started to smell wonderful and the eggs that was enough for the snake was nothing in her human form.

"Hello." She said and looked at the girl. "I'm Sasha. I dont think I've heard you two's names. It looks very good by the way, you got something left for me?" She was suprised how...not-shy she was. Mabey when she found out that she was not the only one who had been through those horrifing months. Mabey she was reliefed to not be alone anymore. Mabey it was because the boy had been so nice to her before...and the girl. It was something familiar about her.

Sam smiled at how simple a subject they would still talk about. I mean, mea preferences, really? It just seemed too normal. Another girl came out. Sasha, he thought. "I'm Sam. Want anything to eat?" He then turned back the other girl and said. "I'm a… wolf. Sorry, its still hard for me to think of it as normal to openly admit to that."

(Not going to be in much today, sorry)

"Yes, I would love some. Thanks Sam." Oh gosh. Sam/Sammie. She would probably mix them up one day. She went inside to get some plates and cutlery. A little bit of human we still have inside of us, so we can atleast eat as normal people. She stopped for a moment at Lucas and the cat, wondering if she should wake them up, but decided to let them sleep. When she returned to the grill Sam gave her and the girl a piece of meat each.

"Shouldn't you have one to?" She asked Sam.

Lucas woke up in his tiger form, looking at the cat sleeping soundly beside him as he smiled to the sleeping Ari. It seemed as he wasn't the only one feeling tired. The couch had seemingly managed to hold his weigh and how Ari managed to squeeze in, but it was good to know she wasn't scared of him. His form was frightening, and he was one of the strongest animals on the planet. It was good to know Ari wasn't scared by his sudden transformation. The smell of meat entered his nostrils, as he carefully stood up to not wake up Ari, and walked out to the source of the smell. "What's cooking?" Lucas asked, looking over at the meat that Sam was grilling, instantly feeling hungry.

Ari sniffed the air, smelling meat. She yawned, standing up. She transformed back and walked to the source. She walked up next to Lucas, waving at him. She sniffed the air again. "I smell steak." Ari said. She loved meat. Probably part of the genetics, but boy did that meat smell good. She flicked her tail in excitement.

Still sitting out in the camouflage of a bush, the small black figure picked up the smell of cooking meat. It made her stomach turn. It had been over 4 years since she had eaten meat, and frankly it was now one of the most repulsive smells to her.

'At least if they get some meat in their systems their instincts are less likely to make them feral' she thought, 'That's one less thing to worry about. It also means there's some kind of food in there, as I didn't see anything larger than a rabbit out here. Maybe it's best to wait for them to finish eating first...'

As she decided upon this, she shifted back into her original skin. Her milk-chocolate skin seemed quite a few shades darker in the fading light, but it was home. She sat there, grass and leaves on her bare skin, waiting for the 'feast' to subside so she could make an entrance unscathed.

Lucas' ears twitched as he thought he heard something in the bushes, not far away from where he was standing. He quickly looked over to where Victoria was sitting, but shook it off as he couldn't hear the sound any longer. Lucas quickly grabbed a piece of the raw meat, as he began eating on it, still in his tiger form, as most of the sedatives had left his system.

"I was so hungry! This feels great!" Lucas said happily, as he kept eating the raw meat for himself, laying on the ground.

Lucas and the cat had finally woken up and was going to the grill, still as their animals. The big tiger quickly grabed a raw steak and started to eat it on the ground. She was shaking of fear, because it was kinda horrifying. She feared that the tiger had taken over him, and when he was finished with the steak he would attack them and chew on their bones instead.

Ari giggled, looking at him. He was mercilessly gnawing on a piece of raw meat. She thought he looked adorable that way. She liked his tiger form, even if he didn't. She walked over to his side. "You look like your having fun." She commented. She laughed again, sitting down in the grass. She leaned back and sighed, taking in the scent of the warm grass.

Lucas looked up as Ari laughed at him, and he let out a small laughter as well as he realized his hunger had gotten the best of him, making him jump to the food straight away. "I- I was just hungry..." Lucas stuttered a bit embarrassed as he finished the meat. He let out a yawn as his fangs were clearly shown, and the piece of raw meat was already gone. Lucas spotted Sasha, as she realized he might look a bit scary to her, as he saw the fear in her eyes. Quickly transforming back into his human form, and scratching the back of his head. "Sorry. Did I scare you?" Lucas apologized.

"Yeah. Y-you did." She had been so close to the snake that she had hissed. But it didn't seemed as anyone had heard it. "But I'm ok. You didn't look so healthy back there though, what happend? She breathed slowly trying to calm down. She couldn't get the pictures out of her head.

I forgot, I must have scared her more than I thought... It's as I thought... I look far more dangerous than I realize... No, I know it just fine. I just forget sometimes. Lucas looked up as it seemed as Sasha calmed down once he returned to his human form, he looked a lot less threatening as a human after all. There was a reason for him to go far away from the house to transform yesterday after all, he didn't want them all to react like that. "I was sedated, but don't worry. I'm fine now," Lucas reassured Sasha, looking over to Ari as he smiled to her. "By the way Ari, your animal form is like a mini me, except the stripes of course. I- I thought it was kinda awesome," Lucas said a bit embarrassed as he realized it sounded like a really lame pick-up line, but it was true. Plus, it seemed as she didn't fear his animal form, and that was reassuring to know.

Ari giggled a bit at his lame line. It might have been lame, but she though it was cute. "Yeah, I was thinking the same thing." She said, her cheeks tinted a bit pink. She smiled at him, her ears twitching a bit. She liked his animal form, even if the others were scared. She looked around, a bit embarrassed. 'Gah, I'm so stupid.' She thought.

Lily pulled her steak off the grill when it was cooked to where she liked it. "Hey!" She yelled as an african wild dog jumped up and stole her steak before she could even put it to her plate.

Tobias trots off with the steak, setting it down to cool a bit before looking back at Lily with an almost amused grin, if a dog could grin. He does a sort of shrug maneuver before putting one paw on the steak and starts to tear into it, not caring how he looked eating it.

Lily just glares over at Tobias before pulling another steak off the grill and onto her plate. "There's some more here, raw or cooked if anyone else wants any" She states before putting some distance between her and Tobias in case he got any ideas about this steak and set her plate down before changing into her fox form, delicately pulling bite size pieces from the steak. She just thought that she probably could have eaten with a knife and fork but it had been so long since she had utensils since they were considered a weapon, the thought only came to her as a secondary option.

It was too much. First the thing with Lucas and then some kind of weird dog jumped over her. She was panicing and was pretty sure that her snake eyes were there. So she thanked Sam for the meal and then went inside with her dishes, looking down in the ground the whole time. In the kitchen she coudn't stand it anymore, so she sat down, feeling dizzy, and soon she passed out.

"Hey, you feeling okay Sasha?" Lucas asked as he noticed Sasha's sudden rush to get out of the crowd that had gathered. Quickly following after her, he managed to catch her before she completely fell over. She didn't feel sedated, and there wasn't any wounds on her. Did they do something strange to her? "Hey- Sasha! Wake up!" Lucas tried to call to Sasha, as he realized it wouldn't make her wake up. Quickly he transformed to his tiger form once again and threw her on his back, walking outside and looking at Ari. "Do you know where Sasha's room is at? She passed out in the kitchen. I think she needs some rest," Lucas asked, standing int he doorway balancing Sasha perfectly on his back, making sure she didn't fall off.

Alex became bored with the girl standing next to him. He told her he would see her later, flying off. He was hungry and... Wait. Was that meat? He swooped in and sat down at a table. Alex was patient, and he tapped his fingers as he waited for someone to notice him. They would eventually. Flying in wasn't that stealthy.

Ari looked at her. "I think it's close to mine." Ari said. She grabbed the door and opened it. She walked on though and up to her room. She opened the door and let Lucas though. "Put her on the bed." Ari said. She grabbed a couple of pillows and stacked it on top of each other to create a cussion for her head.

Sam heard a noise and saw a bird land next to him and transformed into a human. "Want some steak?" He asked. The boy nodded in response and he threw in another pice. "I'll be right back" he said feeling his piece was the right temperature. He ran off right at the edge of the forest and changed into a wolf. It had been so long since he ate like a person, it was strange to think that was an option. He was also still shy about changing so that's why he was here and not closer. As he quickly devoured the chunk of meat, he found it disturbing how he like his meat raw, yet warm. Kind of like a fresh kill…. He shook off the feeling and changed back, heading towards the house.

Alex waited, then ate his steak quietly. It was warm and juicy. Alex almost never ate in hawk form. It disgusted him. All he liked about it was the feeling he got in the air. And he didn't know why everyone disliked changing into their animal. Just for a statement, he was going to fly in to the house. Maybe he'd just go through and then head on top. No one could get him there. Where was Nina? He didn't know, but he would say something about it. He walked inside the house, looking for someone. If he got there, he would say he was going to scout the place out. Everyone needed to know what they lived in.
