The End of Days

"Its alright, I can only imagine what losing a parent might be like." Tannis said hugging Ebony back, "Now... lets get the kitchen cleaned up a bit." He said, standing up and clearing the area.

Tannis smiled lightly, accepting the help, though he strangely started to make things straight and tidy. "Alright... I'm going to head to bed. If you need anything.. my room is just right here."

The night was not silent. There was several times the window would rattle or things would thump around the house. Everything was dark and the clouds covered the moon. Sometimes it sounded like things were outside the house shuffling around.

Ebony found it hard to sleep she pulled the covers over her head and actually began to cry as she got more and more frightened.

When the morning came, the birds were out, chirping like they did every morning. Tannis was already down stairs cooking some canned beef.

"I'm assuming you didn't sleep well at all.." Tannis said before putting a bit of the beef on the plate for her.

"You really should eat... I insist... and you should go nap as well... the only thing I was going to go do today is hunt." Tannis said, "Fresh meat often taste between then this canned stuff.

Ebony tried to tell herself not to be picky the world was ending but she stared at the meat like it was going to attack her.

Tannis sighed watching her intently, "I promise I didn't poison it or lace it with anything tricky..."

"W-wait! I can get you something you actually like eating... You don't have to force yourself.." Tannis said waving his hands. He looked around before he left the room.

Tannis came back with another can, "Do you want me to heat these up?" He asked before getting a can opener.

Tannis nodded and got a bowl to put it in, handing it to her with a utensele. It was snapped peas. "I've tried a few times... to get a garden... I have a green house connected to this... but.... the plants just seem to ... grow... everywhere... I'm not sure I do it right."
