The Dragon and the Wolf

"Smiling like that won't get you anywhere... Mir." Rimaggon told the dragon. "It sounds like the backwards version of the first three letters of my name. Did you plagiarize it?" he said.

Rimaggon looked at Mir suspiciously. "Maybe..." he said then turned around and walked off to his village. "Don't follow me!" he called out.

Hmm... If I leave him alone, he might starve. If I don't leave him alone, my mother will kill me. If I leave him alone- the others might... sell... him... After his train of thought, he hoped that the cow would stay in the cave.

"You are my Master. My duty is too follow you." Mir just shook his head and followed Rimaggon.

Rimaggon sighed when Mir still followed him. "Fine, fine, but don't show yourself to anyone there." he told it as he exited the foggy part of the forest with Mir trailing behind him. Then, he heard a rustle. He stopped dead in his tracks and tried to find the source of sound. A moose walked out of the bush. Rimaggon grinned wolfishly and placed the deer on the ground. He sneaked behind a tree then headed slowly towards the moose. Right when he was about to pounce on it, the moose kicked him in his face, making Rimaggon stagger back. He watch the moose run away from him. "There goes a perfectly good meal." he sighed. He gestured Mir to follow him as he walked towards the direction of the back door of his house.

Once Rimaggon entered his house with the dragon, he quickly placed the deer on the dining table and then ushered Mir upstairs. "Quickly, before my mother senses another presence!" he whispered. He then lightly pushed Mir into his room and locked the door. He faced Mir and opened his mouth to say something when his mother called. "Honey, did you get home yet?" To which Rimaggon replied with, "Yeah mom, the food's on the table." He heard steps going downstairs. He faced Mir and gestured to his room. "Welcome to my room."

Rimaggon nodded and looked out the window. "I'll leave that open, but make sure nobody sees you." he told Mir then exited the room, making sure to close the door before going downstairs to eat breakfast. His parents were already eating. They gave him the legs, but he didn't eat the hooves of course. He was full after he ate it. "Son, I accidentally left my glasses in your room, I'll be right back." said his father as he went upstairs. Rimaggon froze in his seat. Shoot.

Mir heard someone walking upstairs and he hid under Rimaggon's bed, trying not to get spotted.

Rimaggon's father entered his son's room, looking for his glasses. "Where did I put it again?" he asked himself as he looked inside a drawer. "Oh here it is." He put on his glasses and blinked before going downstairs again. "Father, did you see anything blue in my room...?" asked Rimaggon. His father shook his head. "No, why?" Rimaggon tensed up, seeing he nearly spilled the beans. "I... uh... scared a blue bird off and saw it heading in this direction." His father nodded and went back to eating.

After breakfast...

"
Father, mother, I saw a moose a while ago. I'm going to hunt it down and sell it to the butcher." Rimaggon told his parents. They nodded, and Rimaggon went through the back door. He went to the side of the house and called through the side window, "Psst, Mir, you there? Fly down!" he said in a "hushed" whisper.

Rimaggon saw Mir flying down and then gestured for him to follow him. He then shot off into the forest before tripping on a root, making him land on the ground with a thud. He slowly stood up and found himself staring at the moose he saw earlier. He pounced on it, grabbing it by the neck. The moose made a sound and tried to throw Rimaggon off. "Whoa-- Mir, a little help here?"

Mir nodded and opened his muzzle and soon a light blue beam came out, hitting the moose and killed it.

Rimaggon stared at the dead moose. "What did you just do?" he asked Mir as he turned his gaze on the dragon from the moose.

"Just a skill I can do but You'll have to command me for me to use it, master." Mir smiled.

Rimaggon raised an eyebrow. "At this rate, I might have to stop asking help from you to prevent people noticing you." he said as grabbed the moose's antlers and started dragging it to the direction of the butcher's shop. "And now, to test your stealth skills. I'm going to the butcher's shop, and I don't want them seeing you, got it?"

"Alright, Master." Mir nodded with a smile before following Rimaggon from above where no one could see him.

Rimaggon entered the village once more then went inside the butcher's shop. "'Ello 'ere, Rimaggon." greeted the butcher. "'Ow 'ay I 'elp you?" Rimaggon brought the moose on the counter. The butcher looked at carefully. "You 'ust've 'ad a 'ight 'eein 'is 'ole 'ere." he said, pointing at the chest area. "Yeah..." said Rimaggon. The butcher took in the moose into the kitchen area and gave Rimaggon twenty-one silver coins. "'Ere we go." Rimaggon thanked the butcher and went to the side of his house. "Mir, wherever you are, you can fly back up there."

Rimaggon then walked inside his house using the front door to find his parents still sitting by the dining table. He placed the coins on the table. "The pay was reduced because I had to hit the moose... Hard." he told him then he went upstairs. He went to his room and closed the door. "Okay, back to the encounter in the cave, what do you mean 'assigned'? Do you mean we're destined to be partners or something?"

"Well... It'slike that." Mir nodded with a smile before continuing. "I really don't know too much about this but every now and then, a person will be chosen and an Onyx dragon will accompany them like me and you."

Rimaggon nodded in understanding. "So are we supposed to go on a quest or something?" he asked Mir. If they were supposed to, Rimaggon was not going to return home for a long time.
