Name: Nathaniel Reed

("Nathan", "Q-Tip")

Age: 32

Gender: Male

Appearance:

tumblr_m68xvhpnMZ1rn4z4go1_400.gif

Though tall man standing an inch or two over 6 foot, Nathan is thin and doesn't have a particularly broad frame. He's not particularly muscular, and weighs in around 145 lb. Nathan is light skinned and fair-haired; he has semi-long, wildly curly blonde hair that at the introduction of the character shows obvious signs of suffering from the long journey, zombies, and low access to running water. He has blue-grey eyes. Generally wears jeans and a button-up.

Personality/History:

Laid back and a bit timid, Nathan Reed is no fighter. He was one of the least qualified people who could possibly have survived this long and is in fact something of an Action Survivor. He doesn't like fighting and has something of an aversion to shooting guns. He tends to stay close to his friend Tal. The two have travelled a very long way together and became friends more out of necessity than anything else.

Before the apocalypse, Nathaniel Reed was a politician — an ambassador. He was good at what he did and good at negotiating. Things weren't going to stay good for him for too much longer though.

Some time into his career Nathan began noticing a bit too much and asking a few too many questions, and eventually found himself knowing a whole lot more than he really should have about a bit of a political scandal. The more he learned the worse it was. He still doesn't talk about what it was he found out, and even if he's asked he won't explain what it was, but his original intention was in fact to publicize his findings. He didn't get that far. Two things happened before he could: First, he was arrested for treason. Second, zombies.

Nathan had been sent to a high-security facility just before the zombies hit. It was something of a mass panic when the dead started rolling in, and the fact that he got out alive at all was only due to another inmate, and a much quicker-thinking one than him in the face of the walking dead. He was actually still in his own cell when it all happened — he heard the zombies and the shouting before he could figure out what was happening. Once it started to set in that there were zombies in the facility, panic and dread set in — Nathan assumed he would either be mauled to death or left in his cell to die more slowly and just as painfully.

But someone opened the cell block.

Nathan didn't know who or why, but as soon as the doors opened, he took off in an attempt to escape. On his way out, he ran into a younger woman and it became immediately clear that she was far more capable of protecting both of them than Nathan was — so the two stuck together until they could get out to safety.

This was Talassa Brookes. At first they got along alright — until sharing stories revealed she was a political insurgent.

Surrounded by zombies and who knows what other enemies, though, they both felt they had no choice but to stick together — and despite starting out both loathing the other intensely, they eventually managed to get along. That seems to happen when you're faced with being ripped apart while still alive.

The pair continued traveling together and are still together — and so far are making it into the Colorado mountains in hopes of finding a stronghold they've heard of. Nathan's a little less optimistic.

The trip has been rough, with plenty of nasty people both alive and dead along the way.

Equipment:

Carries a backpack, containing the following —

Two filter bottles for water

Jerky, canned goods, and other food

Rubbing alcohol

Duct tape

Gauze

Knife

Two jackets

Several random valuables — a few bracelets, an extra fleece coat, and a couple of books still in good shape as well as a handful of twenty dollar bills, just in case for trading. P

Skills:

Negotiation — Nathan is fairly good at talking other people down or into a deal.

Perceptive — Nathan has high perception. He tends to be well aware of his surroundings and takes note of the details.

Notable Weaknesses:

Thinking On The Move — While Nathan can deal with any number of other people when it comes to talking things out, he's virtually unable to come up with any plan of action in the thick of it and may not even be able to fight at times.

Non-Action Guy — Basically has minimal battle skills, though he has learned to defend himself more or less, and doesn't have the same emotional or physical fortitude as many other survivors do. He can't handle as much pain and more prone to stress than many survivors.

Other:

Traveling with Talassa Brookes.

I'm not certain in how you'll be wanting me to introduce them. Perhaps if you have a group in a town or something they can fall in with you there?

Name: Talassa Brookes ("Tal" or occasionally "Tali")

Age: 20

Gender: Female

Appearance:

Image can be removed, since it's drawn, but I have a very clear image of her in my head and unfortunately, not a realistic art style...

View attachment 123652

Standing at about 5'6" and weighing in at something like 145 lb, Tal has a broader frame and toned, muscular arms. She is either not terribly busty or else is wearing a good quality sports bra and has wider hips. Her face is rounder in shape and she has full lips along with blue eyes and a moderate tan skin tone. She generally wears a grey tank top and jeans or bike shorts depending on the season, and in the colder months, she wears a black double-layered jacket with a band name sewn into the front in teal cloth. She doesn't actually know the band; she just liked the jacket.

Her hair is thick, dark brown and relatively curly. There's a lot of it and it frequently gets in the way. It's been braided back since just after she and Nathan started traveling and it's showing pretty badly at this point.

Personality/History:

Talassa Brookes was one of those that was raised by the foster system. She doesn't dwell on it and has never in her life pulled the "I never had a family" sob card, as she detests the idea of dwelling on it. Tal was athletic from an early age, enjoying playing softball recreationally early on and moving on to tomahawk throwing after joining the Venture Scouts — a branch of the Boy Scouts that allows for females to join a crew — as soon as she was introduced to it at a firearm event. That day she also tried out archery and various guns. The guns were nice, but not as satisfying as the stick of an axe in wood, and archery — oh, she was a disaster with archery. She was close to 15 at that time.

She never had a whole heck of a lot of respect for the direction she was given by the adults in her life and her impulsive and hot-blooded nature — more passionate than easily angered, though she's not exactly afraid to fight — led her to drop out of the system in favor of other pursuits at around age 16. This was probably not terribly beneficial to her. She got along on her own alright, but ended up falling in with a more progressive crowd over the next couple of years. Strong political feelings would turn into attacks on the government. It wasn't exactly a good lifestyle but at the time she really believed she was doing the right thing.

Eventually Tal was caught for what basically amounted to terrorism and was put on trial as an adult at the age of 19. She was sent to a high security prison in fairly short order and ended up in the same cell block as none other than Nathaniel Reed.

She, too, was caught up in the chaos when the zombies hit, and as soon as the doors were sprung, she took off. She ran into Nathan in her route out and didn't hesitate to drag this stranger along — it was obvious to her he would get himself killed if he didn't have help, and she had done plenty of running in her life.

The pair stumbled across a firearm shop on their way out and Tal found herself lucky enough to steal up a few throwing axes before anyone got to them. The two stocked up a bit before getting into the "learning about each other" phase — and that's when her opinion on Nathan got a little colder. She still stuck with him even though she loathed the fact that he was a politician, because she did in fact recognize that surviving alone was going to be extremely difficult. She got over it eventually as they headed west toward Colorado, hoping to find a stronghold they heard about.

Equipment:

Four tomahawks, two generally kept in Nathan's bag, one in hand and one in a makeshift sheath on her side.

Hair ties. So many freaking hair ties.

Hip holster bag containing a cloth and rubbing alcohol

Leg holster on opposite leg carrying a plastic canteen with a ranch brand of some kind on the front

Skills:

Tomahawks — Tal has been throwing for about five years. She's pretty good at it.

Willpower — Tal is able to act under pressure and keep herself together under pressure. It doesn't mean she's particularly good at keeping herself in check, though.

Healing — Tal is good at first aid. She's no master healer though.

Notable Weaknesses:

Social Tact — Tal cannot be trusted to talk her way out of anything. She doesn't know when to cut her losses and on more than one occasion has ruined tense negotiations with other survivors. She can't make a deal and is genuinely bad at people.

Impulsive — Tal will run into a situation head first. Sometimes, she'll run herself right into a metaphorical snare headfirst. She doesn't think things through.

Firearms — Tal's aim with a gun or bow isn't particularly admirable. She'll probably miss. She's much better off with a Melee weapon or something she can throw.

Other:

Traveling with Nathan. See above.

Hipe hope these two are alright I can see y'all are getting selective on those CS posts

@DrTrollinski and I were talking and we decided we gotta move move mooove on a little faster guys /: we would like to get into the gritty stuff with the walled city but before we do that we need to have people a.meet up and b.start getting killed off- so everyone sensibly knows each other and a hierarchy is created.

Ill be making us a "loosely inspired by Negan" villain bc that season premiere is life -- but something like tht should happen, it just wouldn't hold any gravity if we don't have our characters go through something that brings them together

so get crackin on them replies and we gotta discuss here what's about to happen. I feel like everybody should mentally think about if they had to lose a character who would it be- sometimes it can create more growth for ur less significant character etc etc even tho not everyone will lose a character ?? if that makes sense.

Gotta stRt thinking plot

Ah. I've been really disconnected with RPing these past couples of weeks. I'll try to catch up with things.

FAM PLZ B ACTIVE

Where's the old lady? Connor could meet her and since he basically treats old women like his mother she'd have a high security prison inmate that will do whatever she asks.

(Is it still okay to join?)

Name: Katina 'Kat' Boxman

Age: 20

Gender: Female

Appearance (no anime- additional description including height, body, etc)

Kat is thin and flat, most boys think shes unattractive. She has messy hair with bangs that are usually tied up in a tiny ponytail. Her face is round and her eyes are usually tired with bags under them, her skin is almost always pale. She usually wears baggy jeans and shirts, with turtlenecks under.

3f52e7edf776d866dc922a29072e4bca.jpg

Personality/History: Kat was born into a poor family of six kids and left home as soon as she was early enough for university. She loved her family, but hated her hometown. She got out, studied in a technical university and that's when things went bad. Kat is always annoyed and irresponsible, she's not a very good friend and was often not popular at all. She is however smart and stubborn and obviously very lonely.

Equipment: (nothing unrealistic) She always brought a pocket knife with her, now it might be usable.

Skills: She used to work as a computer engineer, so she is pretty good with software. Totally useless in a zombie-infested world.

Other: (quirks, important relationships, etc) She has allergies to dogs and can't stand pop music.

(thinking of joining, but have you guys destroyed the walled city yet, because if you haven't, then I would like to establish my presence there)
