Fantasy The City of Myths

Most people would've noticed Crystal's lethargic movement, but not Yitah. Despite his age and wisdom, he still didn't really understand some of the more obscure human traits, like lethargy, and besides, he still tasted something different about Crystal. Something not quite human. Yitah's eyes, however, suddenly widen as he just remembers something important. "Oh! My apologies, but in my haste for excitement I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Yitah. I am a Yuan-Ti." He explains his race almost as if he was ashamed of it, and to some extent he was, and he hoped that his naturally evil and hostile upbringing didn't hold any ground on what people though of him today - humans, however, seemed to be fairly quick to judge someone. A shame, really.

As he introduces himself he extends a gloved hand, shifting a knife to the side in the process. The knife, at second glance, did not seem to be something that a refined businessman would own. It appeared to be made of finely chiselled stone, with a strong looking vine wrapped around it as the hilt. Something that a savage would wield, perhaps? At even closer glances, Crystal would notice what seems to be channels cut into the blade itself - stained with a crusty green substance. Perhaps something flowed in those channels, long ago.

"You're right about that." He agreed, glancing down at her. "I don't know where it went wrong, but I've been alive long enough to say chivalry was pronounced dead as soon as the clock ticked over into the 21st century." Mortimer laughed. "There are still good men out there I suppose. Raised by the right parents." Voltaire traced his fingers over her hip and smiled. "But I'm selfish, I doubt I could send you away. No matter who is better or worse. And I am certainly the latter on most occasions."

The moment she pressed a light, fleeting touch of her lips upon his jaw, Mortimer let out a pleased hum. The kind which reverberated around his chest in pleasure. "Neither do I. My God, you know I thought I'd never miss warmth, but you? - Oh, I miss you." With that, he kissed the top of her head and sighed as if lamenting the lost time which was stolen by responsibility and society.

He pecked her temple again, for the plain fact he could. "Do you ever think you grew up too fast?" Mortimer questioned. "In interest, I know little of elves but how fast they mature. You were a child - yes, but it's an awfully short period isn't it?" Voltaire arched his brow. He was intrigued, genuinely it appeared. No crude jokes nor humour injected. A little worry, maybe, in the case to her this was a childish romance - but he doubted it.

Crystal Knight

"Yitah........ Yuan-Ti..." The dragon mumbled as she stared up at him. She had never heard of such a creature in her life. But when you live in a frozen wasteland you don't know much about anything really. But looking down she saw his hand extended. Guessing he wanted to shake hands. So reaching her own hand out she gently grasped the snake's hand. Slowly shaking it while staring at him blankly. "Crystal.." Saying it slowly and making the two syllables known.

Thinking about the knife again she recalled the details of it. By her memory it was not normal. Foreign? Possibly. Though she felt that if either one was drawn it might spell trouble. Letting go of his hand, Crystal turned her attention back to the path. "Stay close....... don't wander.." she knew the mountain better than anyone. So it was easy for an amateur to get lost.

"As if I'd want to be anywhere else," the elf remarked then with a smile she added, "Besides, there's nothing wrong with being a little selfish." The cold traces of his fingers over her hip caused the elf to snuggle a tad closer to Mortimer. His cold body offered relief and comfort to her.

Hearing his hum in his chest, Rosaria chuckled. A smile on her face. Happy to know that Mortimer was having a nice time. When she felt his lips on her head she let a hum of her own. "Well I never knew that the cold could bring so much comfort. Your form of cold is soothing in my opinion. So I guess we balance each other out in a bit."

A peck on her temple. She blushed at the small gesture. Though when asked about her childhood, it had her looking to the stars. "To be honest, no. I think I matured when I needed to. Some elves mature faster than others yes. But that is mostly physical. Mentally they are still children. I was different. With all that I went through I had no time to be a child. Nor did I really want to be a child. I like how I've turned out. And I don't regret a single thing."

Sitting up a bit she looked down at Mortimer. Some wisps of red and white hair hanging down as her face hovered a foot above his. "You have nothing to fear Mortimer. This is not puppy love. I mean it when I say that I love you. And that I would do anything to keep you safe." A soft smile on her face when she finished speaking.

"Hm, we'll see how long you can deal with me." Mortimer mused, a smirk pulling his lips up in a quaint, crooked smile. Adjusting the direction of his chest, to face her further and accept the manoeuvre as she brought herself closer to him. "I've never been much of a comfort to women for my sort of cold, which is a first for me. But - I have to thank you. I'm flattered it's how you feel." Mort replied in kind.

Angling his face down, Voltaire observed as her eyes upturned to the stars. Regaling him with memories, privy between the two of them in that meadow. Although she caught on to the unvoiced worries which permeated his faith. Sitting up to hover over him, her hair soft, red curtains of a thousand strands. His hand rose, brushing her tresses and admiring them till touching her features. Something so fascinating he couldn't help but reach out when she was near.

"I can't help it. Everything feels too -" He paused, searching for the right word whilst his thumb traced the outline of her face, down to her chin. "- easy. As if everything just fell into place the moment I saw you, and to be honest I'm terrified the moment you leave it'll crumble. Right through my fingers - like sand." Mortimer pushed himself up somewhat. "And for that to happen I'd be devastated."

Melios Phonic
Walking alone melios listened to the world around him as he walked he could hear the hustle a bustle of all the people. He didn't look how he usually did as he wasn't custom to the city too well to know it wasn't a human city despite those around him as he wasn't custom to earth concepts fully yet. He walked enjoying taking in all the sights, sounds, and smells which overwhelmed his senses. Everything was new and he felt like a newly born imp. As he walked he stopped hearing music playing and a man quickly grabbed his arm pulling him onto a out door stage. "Go melios do your thing!" His manager shouted. Melios may have still been getting used to things but he was a well known singer among earth and especially the supernatural knew who he was. People started going nuts when they saw melios and he wasn't hard to recognize as his human form was similar to his true form as a alien. He stepped up to the Mic making a strange sound and they started the music as melios started to sing and flaunt it as well dance.

Seeing Mortimer pushing himself up a bit had Rosaria pulling back a bit. That way he'd have some room. He did have a point though, why did it seem so easy? "Mortimer," the elf somewhat sighed as she looked down at him, "I understand where you are coming." Sitting herself up before she sat on her knees beside him. Blue gaze still turned down towards him as she placed a hand over her heart. "But maybe, don't you think it is this way for a reason?" Her hand tightened a bit, forming a loosely closed fist.

"I feel as though you have struck a fire in my heart, the kind not so easily put out. But it burns passionately." Turning her head towards the heavens, a tiny smile formed, "But isn't there a saying that all things happen for a reason? Isn't it possible that all of the terrible, wretched things of our pasts happened so that in our later future we'd finally get to experience happiness? What it means to feel love, instead of the hate that we have borne for years." The half demon moved her gaze back to Mortimer with that same gently smile.

Rosaria's hand slowly slipped from her heart down to her lap, where it rested on top of her opposite hand. "That is why I believe this all seems so easy. But whether it have been easy or difficult to get to this point, I still wouldn't trade it for anything." Her smile got a bit bigger as she spoke, "I do not wish to go anywhere, Mortimer. You make me happy and feel things that I believed that I was incapable of feeling. But most importantly, I love you for who you are." Pausing to take a breath and to glance down towards her lap as her own fears came to mind. "I am terrified to though. Terrified that I will not live forever like you can, and I'm terrified that you might leave me simply for the fact that I might not be good enough for you..... However, I still want to be with you. Even with these fears of mine and that possibility of being heartbroken, I still care deeply for you. And I can't imagine wanting to be apart from you just because I am scared myself."

Mortimer managed to sit himself up fully beside her. Yet while she settled on her knees, his legs stretched out across the blanket. Skin cooling from her touch, till no warmth imprinted by her body, remained. "You're right." He replied, nevertheless he placed his hand upon the two of hers which had become overlapped. "Whatever happens, whether we break one another's hearts - I will ensure you live. Forever. Love is as unpredictable and cruel as it is gracious and sweet. You know that song, Hallelujah? The one they overuse in church? Leonard Cohen used the words 'love is not a victory march, it's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah'. He was right. I would do anything, anything for you, Rosaria. Even if you told me to walk through fire." He squeezed her palm.

"Sometimes I'm terrified of my heart; of its constant hunger for whatever it is it wants. The way it stops and starts. And you make that threefold, I only have to look at you. It's like these intervals of insanity, and I can't live without that. I can't bear to be apart from you, and I can't bear living in the darkness." Voltaire searched her gaze. "It's beautiful and serene, but I lately - I lately begin to dream of walking in the sun. Beside you. I dream of - being able to live a normal life with you, not having us parted by these differences and problems which have me wrapped up in trenchcoats or meeting you in the evenings." Voltaire, at last, let her hand slip from his grip. "I dream ... of waking up beside you and having daylight touch me as it touches you."

He sighed emotively. "I love you, as much as your heart burns with passion, mine burns in a likewise fashion and I have never felt so inadequate to carry something so precious. I know, I can make you happy. I know it, and I hold it so close I feel I might smother the flames. But as much as I am stricken with these fears, these thoughts which plague me, you make me feel as if this is safety. We both deserve this, after our histories of disappointment and apathy. Maybe, as you say, this is for a reason. "

It was another day of swimming, of floating, of looking at people and hoping they would come say hello. It was.....disheartening, he had been alone for what felt like a very long time, days or even weeks, maybe months. He did meet people, sometimes they would come and clean the leaves out of the pool and sometimes they would bring him bits of food but they didn't talk to him and all he did was give them a smile. He floated around, submerging himself underwater every now and then, popping his head or upper body up to look around.

"Wonder what legs feel like" he mused to himself, he just had a fish tail that wasn't much use on land and would just flop around. He submerged himself again, he would feel weird if he didn't breath some water in every now and then. He was incredibly bored, he began to hum to himself which eventually turned into a quiet and steady song, it was a sweet little melody he sang in his young light voice. He normally tried not to think about his parents, it would stress him out but the silence and the lack of interaction was maddening.

He kept waiting, hopefully someone would come along and say hello or even just wave to him...hopefully.

the tv in the apartment somehow flicked itself on and was showing the live event being recorded by some amped up reporters. "here we are in the park square where it seems we a have a appearence by the latest singer to hit this world by storm, melios phonic. he became a over night sensation and quickly is currently topping the charts. they call him the human siren as he has been known to hit every note correctly and his voice can change,he's really popular amongst the ladies for his looks and the fact he's one of the most available bachelors in the singing community but he seems to have zero interest in all the fine women who were interested in him, isn't that right todd?" the reporter asked the one standing next to him clearing his throat. "yes that's right, take that model for example...he had no intrest in her but was more focused on the coffee boy....though,it's safer to say women have no chance at capturing this beautiful man..." he said as the cameras moved back over to the event. melious was singing and dancing with a mic in hand then paused when it finished exhaling. "ok and here is the next song,it's kind of personal so let's take things down a notch, huh?" his soft voice echoed over the crowd before he looked back at the band nodding. the camra had zoomed in and it had made it look like melious was staring right at tyr.

Rosaria listened intently to what the man of night was telling her. Feeling his hand on hers as he spoke he spoke of gospel. Gazing into his eyes as his searched into her own. Listening as he told her the fears he harbored, and the dreams he has recently developed. The elf's heart skipped a beat. Expression softening until it couldn't get anymore relaxed. But her lips stayed gently pressed together, forming a tiny smile.

Leaning forward she wrapped her arms around Mortimer. Holding him close to her, sharing the heat she held with him. And feeling the cold of his own press against her. The elf's grip tightened a bit the long she embraced the vampire. His words had once again moved her, making her overjoyed. "You do," she whispered softly in his ear, "You make me so happy." Rosaria rubbed her against his own slight before ceasing the action. Loosening the rather tight embrace, the demon ran her fingers through Mortimer's ebony locks. Gripping them every now and then.

Then slowly, her hands moved from his hair to his face. Holding his cheeks in both hands while brushing her thumbs gently against his ivory skin. Blue orbs on redwood. Her soft smile didn't fade in the slightest as she continued to gaze at the man. The forest night life chattering in the silence.

Her expression grew further serene and angelic the more he rambled, of both biblical things and that of the heart. But the embrace she offered - he'd find no other like it. Hunching himself over, Mortimer rested his face momentarily against her neck. Yet her heart pulsed, and he knew such things as hunger shouldn't be tempted. With a delicate kiss between shoulder and nape, the vampire immersed himself in that hug. Remembering the scent of her perfume, the feminine qualities of her hair which tickled his jaw. How the darkened sky made the white of her tresses only illuminate more. Rosaria's hands, hands which healed - soft from her work, ran through his hair and brought him ever closer till not a gap between them remained. And the warmth - fire ran in her blood it seemed, for the heat which emanated left him wanting more. An addict to the most pleasant thing.

But his eyes which had closed in peace, opened once more as her hands drew to hold his face. Tan against the pale pallor of his skin. Fingers delicate as they framed the way he looked at her - and how she looked at him in the broken silence of the forest. There had never been a more beautiful colour of blue as what resided in her irises. She'd forced him to chew up his words and swallow them till he had none left to say. Only stare, in a way which spoke more than any language but enraptured attention. His gaze was only for her. It would only be for her.

Mortimer, who rested his palms on her waist and back, brought them up slightly over the soft sweeping fabric of her dress. He could hear everything. The arteries in her neck, to the hooting of owls, and the far distant rustles of foxes who cunningly crept about whilst the deer slumbered. The fact he could barely keep up, nor stop himself from making these poetic notions - he was numb with the influx of emotion to the point where his mind was on the brink of collapsing and he loved it. Voltaire inhaled slowly to speak, yet nothing came of it. What would he say? What would he say but the things you'd expect of an IQ of 5. How much he wanted to kiss her, or how much she reminded him of poems from another lifetime.

Instead, there was silence.

Silas Blackwood
As her head turned to him, capturing his lips, Silas sighed into the action. Engaging in that kiss as much as was deemed appropriate before pulling away to gaze at the child in her arms. "Oh, he's a beautiful little lad. Going to steal a lot of hearts." Silas stroked his sons chin, before tucking in Stell's blankets and making sure both mother and child were wrapped up. "I'll fetch Aspero and the girls. They'll want to see what their new brother looks like. Which reminds me - there's still the decision of a name. Think on it. And try to avoid mushrooms." He chuckled, pressing his lips to hers one last time before vanishing through the door.

He trekked the hospital toward the cafeteria, where he knew it was most likely to find them in the hours afterwards - and upon sighting Aspero's red hair Silas made a small jog over. "Hey, kiddos. Your baby brother is safe and sound, mum is doing good. Want to come meet the bairn?" He questioned, glancing side to side at the youthful faces from his immense height. "But - we have to be quiet. Don't scare him. And behave - your mother - Stell, is very tired. Having a baby takes a lot of effort. Ok? How do we feel about it?"

As she stared at him gently in the broken silence, her blood started to run warmer. More than likely due to the emotions that she was feeling. The fire that ran through her was also a source her body growing warmer. With a notable blush she glanced away, growing a bit hot. "Apologies, I've grown quite warm and I need a bit of cooling off," Rosaria mumbled softly as she removed her cropped, denim jacket. Thus revealing her shoulders and collar bone, which where normally covered by her everyday attire. Her glancing away continued for a moment longer until she finally turned her attention back to Mortimer.

However, the vampire still seemed lost for his words from what she was observing. It was rather cute. "Bat got your tongue?" A chuckle present in her sentence. Moving a bit so that she was sitting on the edge of his lap, her fingers running through his hair once again. "It's rather adorable really. You appear as if cupid has stricken you with a thousand arrows." Giggle arose from Rosaria's throat as she looked him in the eye. Those lovely pair of redwood orbs that made her heart practically melt.

The longer she gazed into them, the more she did not want to be away from him. Instead, she wanted to be closer. Her heart now and for the rest of her life belonged to Mortimer, and Mortimer alone. There was no other person in the world that made her feel how she did when he was around. The happiness and love she held was, and always will be, genuine. And she prayed that it would stay that way. For now until the end of time. Rosaria could feel the flame in her heart burning more passionately for this man that came from a time long before her own.

"Mortimer," she mumbled softly as her gaze became more gentle. The elf felt as if she could not hold the urge, the yearning, back any longer. Leaning in closer to Mortimer, her eyes slowly started to shut. Closing completely when her lips where pressed against his own. Rosaria's hands slowly made their way from his hair down to his shoulders. Gripping them gently as she continued to kiss the vampire under the stars the shined dimly above them.

Ah, so the girl's name is Crystal? An odd name, Yitah thought - at least, it would be odd for a human. "Nice to meet you, Crystal." A few moments later Yitah simply chuckles, as Crystal shows her worry for him wandering wherever he pleases. "Oh, you think this is my first rodeo? I spent about two centuries doing this sort of thing. Several chapters in my book are filled to the brim with tales of my adventures and daring exploits. Real page turners. Well, at least I think so." Yitah falls silent, however, for a while after that as he follows Crystal out of town. When he notices that no-one is nearby, he decided to sate his curiosity. "You can't trick my tongue, you know. You aren't human, are you? At least, wholly human."

Mortimer Voltaire
Her jacket slid off her shoulders, bearing them in the moonlight. Her features turning away with a blush. Yet still those words lodged in his throat. Until her teasing began, and Mortimer smiled in a gentle sort of manner. "Yes. I suppose they have." He remarked quietly, noting how her lips began to upturn in humour. And that laughter - he could've told her everything he was in love with and by the time he'd finished the night would be over. "I think Cupid has done more than spear me with arrows, I've been thrown in front of a train headed for a brick wall." Mortimer mused in reply, glancing down as she shifted closer on his lap. Fingers running through his hair till what had been swept back in precision was nothing more than loose strands of black, cutting across his pale pallor, worked between her digits.

Voltaire wrapped his arms tighter around her as she leant in, lips like petals pressing against his. He practically had an aneurysm. Palms upon his shoulders, to ground the vampire to the reality of her. Beneath that sky, Mortimer was able to fly. With her in his arms - he could've done anything in that moment.

His palm, slowly drew up her arm till it cupped her cheek. Like he could bring her closer than she already was. He pulled his own coat off; in unbuttoned waistcoat and shirt, Mortimer touched his mouth upon her throat, grazing his teeth across the flesh before he kissed the space beneath her jaw and smattered caresses over the top of her shoulders. As if to claim every inch of bared skin. And those redwood eyes - they seemed to lighten a colour. Meeting her lips for those long, sweet, and passionate clashes. In possession and protection - the kind which made women stand back and think of their significant other as insane. But, chivalry wasn't quite so dead, and it'd be a long time before anyone dare even glance at Rosaria in a way he disliked. Yet one must remember, for all his change - Mortimer was still Mortimer. And the lengths he was willing to go for the woman in front of him was incomprehensible.

She was his reason, for being alive in a century he no longer thought he belonged. There would be no more nooses, no more trying to walk into sunlight for it to turn him to ash - no there would be her. Her warmth, her smile, her voice, her laugh. For a second, he hovered in their kiss, stroking the side of her features. "Stay with me." Mortimer murmured cryptically.

"Ah, well, - hm - um - one day I'll tell you." He nodded slowly, before averting her attention only to swing Avery up into his large arms. "Oh I'm sure your baby brother will love you! And mum is doing very well! She's a very brave woman. We'll be able to leave the hospital after they finish the paperwork to discharge her. Won't that be fun? And you - can have those pancakes." Blackwood ran a palm over her blonde tresses in an attempt to tame his daughter's hair. Tickling under her chin - "Your brother will love you just as much as you love that stuffed rabbit." He smiled. Motioning to Amber, he held out his hand. "Come on sweetheart, let's go see him." Lifting his gaze toward Aspero, Silas aimed another one of those smiles which reached his eyes, causing them to crease. Laughlines continuing to deepen in his features as time went on. "If you want, son, you can hold my hand too." Blackwood teased.

Feeling Mortimer tugging at his coat she removed her hands for that moment. When she did place them back where they had been, Rosaria let them slip to his chest. It was then that the elf noticed that not only had is jacket been removed, but the vampire's waistcoat and shirt had been undone as well. Allowing her to slip her dainty hands inside a bit. She had felt his teeth graze the skin of her neck before feeling it replaced by his lips. And she could help but to let out a soft moan. Her heart beating harder than it had ever before.

When Rosaria felt Mortimer's lips pressed against her own she could feel the passion behind them. She knew that they were meant for her, and her alone. Without really thinking she gently nipped the vampire's bottom lip before returning to just kissing him. Her hands gently rubbed his chest. Letting her heat seep into his cold skin. The half demon could feel the flame of her heart continuously burn with each feel of his lips on hers.

There would be no more pain, no more feeling unwanted. Hated. Not as long as Mortimer was around, and she'd be damned if anything or anyone tried to harm him. Feeling him pull away a bit her eyes opened a bit. Just enough to look him in the eye with a soft gaze. The touch of his hands on her sides caused her to blush. "I vow to you, Mortimer, that I will stay with you. Now until the end of my life," she whispered, though one could hear in her voice that she meant every word she uttered.

Two centuries? He was pretty old. But then again, Crystal herself was pretty old. Ancient if she were to say. Though she appeared to the Yuan-Ti as a twenty-two year old woman. Though when he mentioned that he had been doing this for a long time she was a bit surprised, not like it'd show though. She just gave a small hum and nod of the head. A book eh? If it ever got published she might want to read it. Or sell it. Either one worked for her.

When they made it outside of the city was when she heard the serpent man speak again she slowly glanced over at him. So he could tell by his tongue? She didn't remember getting licked. But she never did say that she was human. This was just a more, casual form that she took. "I am not," she mumbled quietly. Stopping she turned to face him with her constant tired eyes. A cold breeze began to whip around the woman with white hair. Slowly two white horns sprouted from the sides of Crystal's head, and large snow white, leather bat wings sprouted from her back. After the breeze faded her wings flapped slowly and she lifted off the ground.

"Dragon." Tilting her head back towards the sky Crystal inhaled deeply, before breathing out a stream of sub zero air into the sky. When she ceased she looked back at Yitah, head titled to the side. "Ice dragon.."

Mortimer Voltaire
Her soft, audible moan caused Mortimer to hold her fast, his cold breath heavy. Yet he managed to shudder slightly - her hands hot against the half unbuttoned, revealed plain of his torso. The sort of warmth which made him feel as if a blissful brand on his skin. Rosaria's heart thumping wild and untamed, to the point he could feel his canines lengthening in a natural response - somewhat suppressed by a sudden desire for the doctor rather than the blood which rushed beneath her flesh.

The gentle bite of his lip, caused the vampire to make a guttural noise of appreciation and pleasure. Voltaire could barely get a hold of himself as she rubbed her palms up and down his cold chest, like setting fire to a field of dry grass, the flames carried further and further till the point no one dared touch it for fear of being burned. And then she spoke, with the lightest, most darling voice he'd heard. A promise he knew she wouldn't break. Mortimer let his cheek brush hers as she whispered, lips hovering just lightly. His hands, fingertips trailing the side of her leg up to the hem of her skirt whilst using the other to hold her tighter. "Then if you vow, I should accept it faithfully." He whispered as if containing a secret between them. "I love you far more than is possible, and I shan't ever, let you go. Not again."

He met her lips again, with a lighter, far more romantic kiss of mutual agreement. He kissed her like she was the only woman in the world. His woman. No matter how anyone felt about that wording, it was his choice. But he began to lean forward, cradling her to his chest while holding her like a waltz where he leaned her kneeling form back.

AMBER

Amber walked along with them to meet her second new brother of the week. She wondered what he would look like, her eyes turned green thinking about it. “What does he look like?” She thought for a second, “I’m pretty sure the pancakes are cold now”.
