Fantasy The Books of Magic

Needless to say, she was not amused by the blatant lies. She understood the need to keep secrets, however, and let it slide for the time, "You are welcome to join me and this gentleman for a cup of coffee. On me."
"Thank you."

Hana noticed a book near the woman. She was suspicious, although, as she told herself, plenty of people had completely non-magical books. Hana supposed that the way to find out would be to ask to see the book. If it was written in gibberish, or in the same language as hers, it was probably a Book.

Rowan kept her book open to see if anyone would take note of the gibberish on the page. She had a wild hunch she wanted to test. Her eyes appraised the shirtless man, and she pointed toward him with her straw.

"You need to wear a shoe to receive service here," she stated calmly.

"I'm wearing shoes just don't have a shirt." Natsu said as he sat down. He emphasized by picking up his foot and showing her the shoe on it. Natsu then took note of her book.

Hana noticed that the woman's book was written in a strange, unrecognizable language. "Aha!" she thought. "She does have a Book."

Rowan redirected her straw to point at a sign that read, "No shirt, no shoes, no service." With an amused smile, she set down her coffee and produced a plain white, but fitted, tank top in size extra small. She held it out in offering to the shirtless man.

Shocked at the sudden arrival of everyone on the secret second floor of the cafe Tom's eyes widened. He then casually opened his book and 5 maps flew out. Each one coming over somebody with a book, all four of them had a map, but one map when to a person out on the street holding a book. "Come join us," Tom said making hand gestures. "So we all here have book powers, how about we introduce ourselves," Tom said calmly using his street smarts to prevent his voice doing flip-flops like his stomach was.

"Thank you" Natsu said as he took he shirt. He barely managed to squeeze into it, but it was so tight you can everything right through it.

As Tom's maps flew out, Rowan's suspicions were confirmed. Adorning a coy smirk, she motioned to the other empty chairs around her table. "The offer stands for everyone with a book," she welcomed. "I'm intrigued."

"So am I!" Hana said. And, indeed, she was. Even though she'd had her Book for a few years, the idea that there were others was new.

Alex sat outside of a cafe working on her latest design, she had learned a lot of things from this book and was curious as to how much more she would learn. She was completely engrossed in her work and seemed to be oblivious to all and everything around her. Her long blond hair draped down in front of her, she forgot to put it in a ponytail this morning, and from anyone else's perspective she probably looked like a depressed girl just staring at the ground. The book intrigued her and as she worked on her designed she wondered if she was alone in this town or if there were possibly others who had strange books like her. She decided not to let that thought distract her from her work and simply continue to silently draw.

Hana noticed a girl near the cafe. What was most interesting to her was the girl's tattoos; she had a lot of them, and they were beautiful designs. Heck, some of them looked like something Hana might read out of The Book of Runes.

Alex had been so engrossed with her new design that she had lost track of time, and moving her hair out of her face she took a deep breath and sat back before tying her hair back with a hair tie she had worn around her left wrist. She had learned a great deal from her book but she still wasn't quite sure how to use it all that well. She had practiced with it a few times but hadn't really gotten a grip on it. She began to flip through a few pages, trying to figure out where she had left off and upon finding it she read a few sentences aloud, not really paying attention to her surroundings, and as she read the tattoos on her body began to brighten. Realizing quickly that she shouldn't be doing this in public, she quickly slammed the book closed, a little embarrassed and as she looked up from her book, she noticed that a girl was looking at her. She quickly averted her eyes, praying that the girl didn't notice and then quickly stood up and made her way inside the cafe. She figured maybe she'd just an iced coffee and a muffin or something and try to just blend in with the crowd somewhere.

Hana, although she was uncomfortable with it, prompted a discussion. She said: "So, each of you have a Book of magic? What does yours allow you to do?"

Natsu answerd first "Mine is all about dragons." Natsu's dragon senses picked up a rather interestingly marked girl. He decided she's later's news.

"So, what powers does that grant, exactly?"

Hana was getting excited by this point. The subject of magic had just gotten seriously expanded.

"Exactly what i said, it's dragon magic. You've seen what it does already. Besides i wouldn't be able to tell youmuch even if i could. I haven't read all that far into mine." Natsu explained a little irritated. Then Natsu took his first actual look at Hana and he noticed how excited she was. Then Natsu glanced at a clock and noticed it was only 6 pm, so he lightnened up. The reason being tomorrow is a dodgeball day and dodgeball is one of his favorite sports.

"This is all really interesting."

Hana, it seemed, had quite the mastery over stating the obvious.

"As a quick change of subject so others can process this, so we go to the same school. You may know me as the guy who nearly killed one of our star football players in a game of dodgeball." Natsu exclaimed. He was now "checking" out Hana as the weirdness of the moments disappeared.

"Oh, you're that guy? I didn't really pay too much attention, but it raised quite a stink."

Rowan watched the exchange unfold before her. They spoke so openly about what they owned in such a public location. She sipped on her iced coffee contemplatively and remained silent. It was interesting and rather relieving to find people in her own situation. It took her quite some time to accept the gift beset to her as real, and sometimes she felt as though it were still all too surreal to exist.

Natsu made a swift motion like he was removing sun glasses from his face and said with a smile "Well i am that guy and if the teacher hadn't caught that ball i'm not sure he would've left with his head. The guy tried to jump me earlier for talking to his girlfriend, typical tv football star alert."

Hana asked Rowan: "By the way, who are you? I get the feeling that I've seen you before, but I can't place it."

Alexis had been in the back eating a muffin and listening to all these people talk. Apparently they all had Books and abilities too just like her, but clearly some of them were further along than her. She wasn't really sure why so many of them were all gathered here in one spot, but she didn't feel the need to talk to anyone. Eating her muffin and sipping on her iced tea, she decided that she would just slowly slip out of the room and possibly avoid any and everything that was going on.

A wince escaped Rowan's lips as Hana posed her question. "Ah, I guess if you've ever flipped through Vogue or have payed attention to New York Fashion Week," Rowan replied. "I'm a model."

"That explains a lot of things."
