Futuristic The Advertures and MisAdventures of "The Pride"

Chris cracked his neck as he holstered his pistol and pulled the large gauss rifle from his back. The particular rifle was illegal for civilian use as it fired superheated and accelerated "bolts" of titanium. He loaded a solid "block" of the titanium coated in a depleted uranium casing for a bit of extra ompf. "So, what's the play cap'n?" He remarked as he switched his visor to an electromagnetic readout and readied a thermite grenade.

Devon sighed and selected the lower level 10th floor. The elavator buckled and slowly started its journey. "Milinda, Milinda Gathers she's our, employer. Before I went down to Mars to get you guys she offered me a job, one that I could not reject. So that's where we're headed now. She'll be in the last room on the floor. And we might run into some resistance so be ready." He said with a smirk. He then took up his HMG and began to ready himself and reload it then taking out his pistols to reload them aswell. "So, any questions?"

"Are we breaking her out of this place or something?" Chris asked as he leaned against the elevator wall, looking around the floors they past. Chris tossed the thermite grenade in the air a few times. "Oh yeah, don't go rushing out. Keep the door closed until I say." Chris let the blade in his gauntlet extend and he placed it in the slit of the door. "I'm gonna pry this open just enough to toss the grenade out alright? Then after a fee seconds well open the doors. Sound good?"

Tasha nodes and quickly did what he told her to.

After that, she walked back to Thrace. "Is that it?"

Sasha leaned back against the wall of the elevator. "Sounds all good to me." she said, answering both the captain and Chris. She removed a Kunai from her belt and slid it into a slot on the side of her Omni-tool. "Who doesn't love a little resistance..." she said nonchalantly as she went back to playing with the handle of the retracted blade. "Give me the word and the doors will open."

Devom took in a deep breath and pulled back the lever on his HMG. The gun gave a high pitched whistle of excitement and energy. The elevator then slowed down to a complete stop. Devon looked at Sasha then Chris."Let's go meet our employer." He then nodded his head to Sasha a prepared himself for the doors to be open and the battle to begin.

Sasha smiled widely. "Looking forward to this!" Sasha said as she waited for Chris. As soon as he threw the grenade there would be a 4 second delay and then all hell would break loose once these doors opened

Chris sighed and pushed his arm into the door. It gave a crunch, and the sound of grinding metal filled the small elevator. Through the tiny gap Chris tossed the grenade towards the center of the electronic signatures that riddled the hallway. He let the doors slide shut for a few seconds. Thermite had detonated and began searing into the guards around it. "Now angel, the door if you would." He said as he knelt down to give the captain a clear line of sight and readied his rifle.

Thrace made his way back to the hangar, and up into the ship, the engineer's were already clearing out, and the cargo ship for the other supplies had just pulled in. Thrace whistled, Modifications and transports of supplies that normally took days were already done, He met with one of the Market Brokers who had a final form for him to sign. Thrace was stunned. He shook his head and signed on the line, sending them back about their business. He made his way to the cargo hatch to oversee the loading and unloading of goods, the few supplies he'd managed to gather went into the other ship, and in came all of their other supplies. The broker approached him, and asked him, simply, "What sort of goods would you like to fill out the rest of your tab? We can offer power cores, metals, or more of uh..." He pointed at Thrace's deep freeze lockers, "That." Thrace shook his head, "No, Metal is fine, Platinum if you have it." The broker raised a brow at him, and shrugged, "Most ask for tungsten, but You seem to actually know what your asking for." Thrace shrugged, "Old man always said go big or go home." The Broker nodded, and tapped an entry into his data pad, then showed it to Thrace. Thrace glanced it over, and frowned in thought at the mans work, then nodded, "Seems fair to me. Can we get it now?' The Broker snorted, "It's already being loaded. This ain't earth, Port authority is like a rabid dog here, they have strikers on standby, only reason we manage is because half of them are guarding our runs." Thrace nodded, and sighed as the man walked away, seemed everywhere he went, the authorities were choking down. He stepped into the cargo bay before the big doors would seal shut.

After checking the cargo over, and tying it down, he made his way to the cockpit, running a full diagnostic on the ships new additions. It wouldn't take long for him to observe the new work, and realize how well he'd done. If it were his ship, he'd have been proud of himself, but, since it was someone else, he shrugged, and decided to just sit back in the cockpit, and wait until the captain returned. He closed his eyes, and relaxed, waiting for whatever might come to him.

Tasha looked at Thrace, who looked so much younger with his eyes closed... Almost as if all his (she's assuming) bad memories had just disappeared and he was a carefree, young man.

Her breath hitched slightly and she took a sip of water to cover it up.

Tash plopped down in the seat next to him and wrapped her fingers around the arm rest, keeping them anchored into place.

Chris began to carefully pick his shots with the massive rifle. Every shot had the recoil of a good sized thruster. He felt his shoulder getting sore as he fired spike after spike into the assortment of guards. He could see and feel a few stray shots of blue streak into his front plate, and one into his left arm. It seared the skin on his overarm and he winced with each sit of his rifle. "Y'know you could help angel" he started in a matter of fact tone. His arm burned like hell, but shoving aside pain wasn't something new. He focused on the task at hand and kept his voice level. "Cap'n spray right down the middle, I'll take the ones creeping on the sides."

"You know what, I should have brought the rocket." Devon rose his HMG to his shoulder. He crouched down beside Chris so that he could avoid he long painful lines of death that stream from Chris's rifle. Once he got into position he unveiled his payload. The twin barrels of the HMG shot their ammunition in alteration with each causing the sound to sound somewhat endless. Devon could see that the barrels would soon melt if he didn't stop. They were glowing white and his aim was getting sloppy. "Chris is right, Sasha take point. We need to reach the end of the hall and into that room!"

....

Sasha had replaced the handle with her SMG and took point aside Chris, firing burst rounds. The stream of fire was tight and accurate. "Didn't mean to let you two have all the fun." She continued her actions as she slowly moved outside the elevator, hugging the wall with continuous fire.

Chris hummed to himself to keep his mind off his arm. He took aim and covered Sasha as he also made his way up the opposite wall. He swapped his HUD display from electronic to one that gave a simple outline of moving objects. With a grunt he held his large rifle with one arm and lobbed a small directional shell into the back of the guards now thinned ranks. The explosion sent the back line slumping forward with shrapnel in their backs. "S'now or never cap'n, angel." He stood tall and dashed towards the nearest guard hugging his wall. With a quick swing he drove the butt of his rifle into the guards jaw and subsequently snapped his neck. He grabbed the body and house ted it in front of himself with one arm, slowly advancing on the remaining enemies.

Sasha decided to take a page from Chris's book and quickly slid up to a dead guard, using his body as a mount, and dropped a few guys who were shooting holes in Chris's human shield. "I guess that's one way to get through." She dropped three guards ahead of Chris with well placed holes in their kneecaps and allowed Chris the honor of finishing them off before working her way back up the hallway with her shoulder pressed hard to the wall to make herself a harder target to hit. "Oh yeah,by the way, that Man-shield looks good on you....really brings out your eyes" she joked as she continued to fire and advance briefly along the side of Chris.

Devon kept his back to the opposite wall and asseted their current situation. There was only a small handful of guards still actively shooting aimlessly. They posed no threat but there was a perpendicular corridor a few meters infront of his team and beyond that was their target. With that in mind Devon charged at the 3 remaining guards. Takeing a brief moment to shoot the two farthest away, the bolts of the HMG were relentless and tore through the bodies like paper. With only one to go Devon rushed at the last guard. Taking advantage of the discordantation Chris's expolsives caused Devon grabbed his head and rammed it into the adjacent wall. "When I tell you run, RUN!!!" He yelled as he twirled the guard around. With the perpendicular corridor infront of him Devon tossed the guard into the open 4-way. The moment the guard entered the walkway his body was reduced to nothing. Shots flew through his body leaving only holes as evidence of they're excistance. As soon as there was a brief millisecond of stillness Devon swung his head around to his comrades. "RUN!!!"

....

Thrace's eyes opened slowly and he looked at the viewport above him, the canopy was clouded over from the outside to prevent anyone from seeing if there was crew within, or where they were, but he could see out, see the ceiling of the space port, see the scaffolding, the bars, the construction above them, he sighed quietly muttering, "Wonder if the others are alright... You realize if they're all dead... the ship defaults to us..." He glanced over to her, "Or at least... It defaults to us until Devon's heir apparent appears..." He was teasing of course... Right?

Tasha tapped her chin thoughtfully, and nodded, glad that the silent tension had been broken.

"I suppose your right. Ha, unless of course, Devon has a... Um..."

Mental floss! Mental floss! Her mind screamed at her as she thought of the horrible mental images.

"I think I'm scarred for life." She shuttered and looked over at Thrace, clearly bored.

"Soooo... Whadaya wanna do? It's just us two."" She mentioned, not realizing how suggestive it could very possibly sound.

Thrace paused, turning his eyes to look at her carefully for a long moment, saying, "Well we could lock the door and steam up the windows on the inside." He grinned and winked at her, chuckling lightly, "Dunno really, I've got my health, I'm a pilot again, and most of the people on this ship have bigger bounties then me on them... Only missing a few things now." He kept his gaze fixed on her, chuckling again softly.

Tasha was highly confused now. Steam up the windows....?

"Why would we steam up the windows? That makes no sense."

She looked over at him with an inquizitive look, only to notice that he was still looking at her... She blushed.

Chris nodded to Devon as he shoulder the guards body and ran his way down the hall. reaching the four way cross he slung the body over his back and cleared the few guards on the left hallway. His eyes flashed behind him. "Well I have to say Angel that suit of yours makes your ass look just heavenly." He grinned behind his helmet and dropped the guard from his back onto the ground. The body fell with a thud. Multiple holes riddled the body and made the body almost unidentifiable. "Did you get shot at this much Angel?"

Thrace's head fell back as he laughed aloud, shaking his head after a moment he sighed and looked up at the veiw ports, "Maybe not... Ah... That's good." Thrace pushed himself up in the chair with a pleased sigh, he turned his gaze back to her, saying, "So before all of this, what were you doing hm?"

Tasha shrugged. (She seems to do a lot of that, doesn't she...)

"I lived at my parents house, went to school, all that boring stuff. Not very interesting. Stuff, you know."

She was still very confused, but decided to let it slip.

Thrace turns his gaze back to the ceiling, sighing quietly, "What were they like? Your parents I mean." He asked quietly. He was genuinely curious, he'd never known his parents, so it was all a curiosity to him.
