Tales of the RDF - OOC

Thanks!

Real Life calls once again. Have a good one, everyone! =)

See you soon.

Hey, has anyone seen any sign of @Sohisohi? I haven't even seen him online lately, but I am hoping someone else has.

Re: Sohisohi. According to his profile, the last time he was on was Tuesday.

Re: Combat. @Sherwood, I'm confused, bud. Zaile was able to both dodge and attack in the same round and use only one action (since she's on action [2])? What am I missing?

She used two actions, one to dodge, and one to attack. Her next action when it comes around will be number three.

Her first shot was out of the combat sequence as a surprise shot on a hidden target.

Got it. Thanks! It was the surprise shot out of combat sequence that threw me off. =)

Ha ha ha! What a terrific first strike roll! *high-fives Epiphany for her natural 20* =)

Critical strikes all around. @Beowulf, you have the airburst rounds in your mecha. The infantry are all gathered in a group as they charge forward. If you fire on them with both arms, you cover an area of 60' feet, more than enough to turn them all into jello.

With the destruction of that recon pod, does the radio interference cease or continue, please?

Oh, I forgot to say that it ends. All jamming is now gone.

Also, I am not sure I was clear about some of the numbers in this fight. Your team is dealing with about one third of the marauders; the others are facing off against the lead and tail elements of the other mecha in the convoy.

I updated my post IC to show that Barbara is hitting the radio and reporting the attack to Brazilia Base.

Here is a question for you guys. Do you want to come up with callsigns and a squadron name?

Since I have not heard from Sohisohi in a while, and a fellow in another game is looking for some action, I have extended an invite to @TechnoParadox to join us. He is not familiar with the system, but is willing to learn, so that puts him in the same boat as half of you here ( ;) ) I will have his character waiting to join the squad at Anton-17 so there is no need for magical hand waving to explain why he suddenly appears out of thin air in the middle of the fight.

Welcome. Let me give you the grand tour. The character templates to pick from are in the Neutral Characters tab. Stats are based on the d20 scale, just to give you an idea of how your attributes stack up compared to a regular joe. Your mecha (giant walking tanks) are listed in the Items tab.

Mmk.

Whoa there's a lot of premade characters available and I can't really tell how one is better than another in what other than the numbers xD

In the Mechanics tab are a few house rules that have been introduced, but the most important thing there is a brief summary of the combat system and how the damage scales in the game work.

For your character, the Destroid Ace 1 or 3 are probably going to be the easiest to start out with. There are five Destroids, three of which I am allowing you to be trained in at start. I would suggest taking your combat training in the Tomahawk and the Defender.

Lets go over the stats first.

Iq = Intelligence Quotient How smart are you? Scores above 16 give you bonuses to your skill percentages

Me = Mental Endurance Your mental stability, and ability to overcome Psi attacks and insanity

Ma = Mental Affinity How well you come across as a likable guy, or how well you can intimidate someone with a glare

Ps = Physical Strength How strong are you?

Pp = Physical Prowess Dexterity. The higher, the better for your combat bonuses

Pe = Physical Endurance Stamina, and the ability to keep going on despite a lack of sleep or to resist poisons

Pb = Physical Beauty Strictly your looks

Spd = How fast you run

Hit Points: 26
SDC: 78

Number of Attacks: 6

Strike: 5

Parry: 8

Dodge: 7

Roll With Punch: 6

Initiative: 1
This tells you your basic combat bonuses. SDC (structural Damage Capacity) goes first when you take a hit before you start to lose Hit Points. There may be times where I tell you that you will take x amount of SDC plus Hit Points, such as if you get shot at point blank range; some of that is going to go straight to HP.

Number of Attacks tells us how many times you can shoot and dodge in a single round. Most of what you do in a fight will take an action.

Combat is on a d20 scale. You roll to hit, and add your Strike bonus to the roll. A natural 1-4 is always a miss, and a 20 is double damage.

Dodge is a roll vs roll. Someone get a 18 to hit you, you have to equal or beat their roll in order to dodge.

At the bottom of each mecha you will find a brief blurb that will look something like this:

Bonuses with Elite Combat Training only: +1 attack per melee round at levels 1, 5, 10, and 15. +1 on Initiative, +2 to strike, +2 to parry and disarm, +1 to pull punch, and +2 to roll with impact.

These numbers are somewhat different in each mecha, but what they all do is add to your personal bonuses to give you a grand total. Outside your Tomahawk you will have 6 attacks at level 1, but inside it you have 7, and your Strike bonus goes up to +7.

Exactly

Damage comes in two different scales. First there is the Hit Point/SDC level. This is what most mundane items are made of; cars, walls, fire hydrants, etc. A weapon like a sub-machine gun is going to be doing a lot of SDC in a burst attack, able to riddle that car or person with bullets.

MDC is the next level up. It is Mega Damage Capacity, and one MDC point equals 100 SDC. Also, SDC weapons do no damage to MDC armor. Its like hitting a M-1 tank with a baseball bat. All you will do is hurt your hands. If a person gets hit by a MDC attack, he's squished.

Now, most of your skills have a percentile to them. The best you can ever get in this system is a 98%, because there is always a chance of failure. Each level you go up you add the smaller number to the base to show your level of understanding is increasing.

*hits a tank with a baseball bat*

Anyways you said each level you go up you add the smaller number to the base? What smaller number?
