Tales of the RDF - OOC

Ok. Now, my next question is, which mecha do you want to be your primary at the moment? The Defender has lighter armor, but a good, solid punch with the autocannons, or the Tomahawk? So far in the squad, there are two Tomahawks, one Defender and one Spartan.

Either mecha is a good choice, especially with your extra attacks. You can afford to dodge more often and keep from getting hit (hopefully).

I won't force you to do that if you want to take the Tomahawk. It is an awesome mecha, with a solid punch with the particle cannons out to 20 miles away. You will get the chance to change your mecha later on, but right now, the base you are at doesn't have a surplus of Destroids to pick from.

Don't forget to change the Number of Attacks and your Dodge bonus on your sheet from the Quick Reflexes bonus.

Ok. That gives your squad a good mix of air and ground attack ability.

Well, there are times that those autocannons are going to be much more effective than the particle cannons of the Tomahawk. Like when beowulf wiped out a mass of infantry with his airburst shells.

I'll put up a post for your character, but basically you were a member of a squad protecting the base Anton-17. A series of attacks have taken out most of the team, and a replacement set of mecha and pilots are on their way that you now have orders to be assigned to. Once the fight is over in the IC thread, the convoy will be arriving at the BSURB.

Well, I need to get a few hours of sleep before going off to work tonight. I'll be back online later;

Heya TechnoParadox and welcome!

Hey Sherwood? Earlier in IC, you sez, "Battle Pods 1 and 2 both aim their heavy guns at Taniya, trying to do some serious damage to the Destroid." I don't see any Strike numbers. What am I trying to beat? =)

Brainfart. I rolled them now. You have to beat a 22 in order to dodge both attacks.

Thanks for the warm greeting! :)

Sure, TechnoParadox! Call me Dann if you like and thank you for joining us. I don't know what has happened to Sohisohi, but I was looking forward to playing with him.

As for learning the ropes of the game, you have any questions?

The higher the skill, the better. Just roll equal to or below the percentage in question and you succeed. 98% is as high as they go. =)

Is that what you were looking for?

Well, each skill with a percentile goes from 0 to 98% at max. When you make a d100 roll, you want to go under the number of the skill. There may be times that I award bonuses or minuses to your roll, depending on the circumstances.

A few more skill-related things a new player might want to know: Gaining experience levels increases all of your character's percentage-based skills (as does raising your I.Q. attribute, but don't count on that). Usually it's 5% per level, but not always. It doesn't matter if you use the skill or not, you get the increase.

In Sherwood's other Robotech game, the players were given one extra skill to learn per level. Are you running it the same way here, Sherwood?

Lastly, the two books Sherwood has recommended for this game are:

1. Robotech Macross Saga Sourcebook

2. Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles

=)

Yes. Every level up, you not only gain a d6 in hit points, but your skills go up and you add a new skill that starts to build up at a level 1 proficiency.

There is a link to a skills list that applies for all the Palladium games, not just Robotech. So, some of them won't be applicable to this game.

We should be wrapping up this little skirmish soon, then the convoy will be arriving at the base where you are waiting.

@Epiphany is up in the initiative order.
