[thumbs up] Good deal! Feel free to post your arrival at the office.

In your skill list, there is a spot for you to put in which two Destroids you want your combat bonuses in. You have the Defender, but what do you want for your second mecha?
Alright, I've made it the Tomahawk. It's the only other mech being used in the group.

Not a problem. Just a reminder; when you are using the Defender, you can switch between the sabot and the air burst rounds with a action. Just let me know how many rounds of each you have in your mecha (75 shots in each arm to divvy up), and when shooting, don't forget your added Sure Shot bonuses on those guns!

"Frankenmecha"! I've learned a new word today! Thanks, Sherwood! =)

Incoming questions (again)! =)

1. Concerning rank, does that mean Zaile is also a corporal? Her character sheet states she's an E-1 private?

2. Taniya has W.P. Paired Weapons (from Hand to Hand: Commando). She also has W.P. Energy Pistol. What rules will you be using when one is firing two at once? Do you mind if folks with W.P. Paired Weapons begin the game with two such weapons?

3. The Defender can fire air burst rounds. Since these rounds do AoE (area of effect) damage, do they then have any additional benefits to shooting down incoming missiles?

4. What do Kevin and Barbara's dossiers contain? I'm getting a clear picture to Barbara's character (green, non-combatant, eager to please, but not brave), but not Kevin (desires order). Anything in their pasts their new sergeant should be aware of?

5. This one's a fun one - Concerning Zentraedi equipment, vehicles, armor, guns, etc. just how much do Taniya and Zaile know about the Zentraedi War Machine? For example, the Zentraedi Aerospace Fighter Pod has 150 M.D. on its main body, but its canopy has significantly less. Taniya can pilot this. So, is it all right that she is aware of this structural weak point?

6. (I'm still having an issue with this.) Does Taniya's age (10 years) seem right to you, Sherwood? I want to get it right now at character creation. I would like her to have serious battle experience against Zentraedi enemies and some time under Lord Breetai's command. Miriya Sterling (a captain in the Zentraedi forces according to the 1st Edition Robotech RPG book) was 27 years old at that time. Khyron was 15. But these are a tank-bred people - how is a warrior of 27 years considered among them? I would like Taniya to be at least old enough to have fought some Invid invaders (or some other alien force prior to arrival on Earth).

Lots of questions! Lets get busy answering these, shall we?

1. Unless someone wants to, all the player characters (except the squad leader) will be E-4 Corporals. The only E-1 you have is Barbara, and she is due to be promoted to E-2 private soon.

2. E-pistols are still very rare. It is more likely that you'll have projectile weapons until such time as the next generation of firepower is developed for both the REF fleet and the Southern Cross armies. That being said, I feel that the Martial Arts technique Paired Weapons skill will apply only to melee attacks, not to be used with ranged weapons. I don't know if the books contain any rules on two pistol useage; I will do some reading. If not, we can House Rule it, something like, the first weapon is at no minus, but the second (off hand) is at a -4. I'll need to think on that to make sure it's balanced.

3. If we are going straight by the book, no. However, this is where common sense says that a blast with a 40 foot radius (60 with both arms) will hit more targets than a direct fire weapon. I will say that the airburst rounds will have the same chance to take out a missile swarm as using another missile. Another House Rule is born and will be going to the new tab when I'm done here. I will also rule that a person in a Defender will also have a chance to shoot down a missile salvo aimed at another player if s/he is using the airburst rounds.

4. Kevin Renner has seen some action against bandits, drug dealers and self-proclaimed warlords on the South American continent. That is where he got his facial scarring; a lucky hit nearly managed to take out his eye, but a skilled field surgeon saved his eyesight. As tensions continue to rise with the Zentraedi, he was pulled off of his work against the cartels, sent through mecha training school, and is now a Spartan pilot. His performance reviews show a lot of promise, but one thing that stands out that you may have to be on the watch for; his entire family were wiped out during the orbital bombardment of the main Zentraedi fleet out in San Francisco, and he is understandably bitter about it. He is reckless on occasion, and has been known to be somewhat flexible in his interpretation of orders given to him. Perhaps that is why he was assigned to your unit, that no one else wanted a loose cannon on their hands?

Barbara is quite the opposite of Kevin. She idolizes the Zentraedi, and has studied not only the language as a part of her communications training, but the lore and history of your people. Barbara has scored high in her training class, and it is by her specific request that she has been assigned to work with a Zentraedi commanding officer. Her combat skills are lacking, but with her job as EWO for a squad, she won't be shooting the enemy with bullets, but using jamming of signals and coordinating the squad to make her difference.

5. The strengths and weaknesses of the Zentraedi mecha and other equipment is well known from many captured vehicles that have been taken apart, combat footage of what worked to take down a target, and from allied Zentraedi that are now working with the UEDF. If you are going up against a target and want to make a Called Shot, the rules are that the actual die roll has to be 12 or higher to hit that specific location. If you manage to hit but roll less than 12, your weapon fire will then impact on the Main Body. Remember, the normal rule on missiles is that they will always hit the body. In the House Rules is a tweak to give missiles the ability to take out a arm or weapon turret instead of killing the mecha.

6. If you want to be old enough to have fought the Invid and still be a part of Breetai's initial fleet, you'll have to be older. Breetai spent many years in pursuit of the SDF-1 before he tracked it to the Sol System, compared to Khyron that was called in at a later time once the ship was found and Breetai wanted extra firepower to help. Exedore is the oldest living Zentraedi as one of the first out of the cloning tanks at over 400 years old, so it is theoretically possible for you to be quite a bit older than you are now and not be looked at as a freak or some kind of exception.

Ok how do I set up the neat little character sheet thingie with the tab's and stuff?

Heya Killfire! Tabs are done like this:

Ignore the * inside each bracket, please.

[*tabs]

[*tab=Cookies]

"I made you a cookie, but I eated it."

[*/tab]

[*tab=Milk]

"It tasted good wif milks. Moar please?"

[*/tab]

[*/tabs]

Written without the * it looks like this:

  • "I made you a cookie, but I eated it."

Hello! How's everyone doing this awesome morning?
Doing mostly well today. Been up all night after a jerk rear-ended me yesterday. Been too sore to get any sleep, so I'm online and posting here all night. Other than that, I'm good. What brings you to this neck of the board?

Wow that's unfortunate, any bad damage? And are you okay after that?

Ah just cruising around and introducing myself to the various RPs goin on :P

The damage to the car doesn't bother me; I test drive cars for a living, and I was in one of the work vehicles when this happened. All of my bills are going to be covered under workmans' comp, so I don't even have to worry about that. Thanks for asking, though.

Well that's good! Glad to hear all is well :)

Dang, Sherwood! Sorry to hear that, but I'm glad you're still able to post if you get my meaning...

I do. I'm pretty sore right now, but nothing is broken, and I am not at fault in the accident. A few days with some muscle relaxers and I'll be back to "normal".

I'm terribly sorry to hear about your situation, Sherwood, but glad you made it through. Take care of your body, it has to last you. ;)

And nice to meet you, Atom. Hope you enjoy your tour. :)

Heya Atom! (I don't have anything else to say at the moment but that.) =)

@Epiphany, did you want your wife to be a nurse, or a full fledged doctor? Either way is fine with me.

I decided to go middle of the road: Nurse Practitioner (i.e. they can function as a general practitioner under certain settings), which is somewhere in between. Also, I've updated my post with the details of yours. The joys of posting within 3 minutes of each other. ;)

Sounds good. I just want to make sure that we are on the same page.

And I just chopped out my bit of Zaile speaking for her spouse since I saw you updated yours with the same detail. I think we're on the same page now! ;)

Anyone else want to make a post before I nudge the story forward a bit?
