Kino backed his back against the bar when Jep threatened him. "Hehe... Hey Jep." Kino said. "I was just joking... Yea... Joking... It was for..." Kino began sweating and his eyes shifted, tell all signs he was lying. "HISASHI! IT WAS FOR HISASHI! PLEASE DONT KILL ME? I WONT EVER DRINK BEER A DAY IN MY LIFE! SPARE ME!"


As Kino begged Jep for forgiveness, and Hisashi flirted with Maoni, the sun set on Aincrad, marking the end of another day in Sword Art Online, but this meant the mean rose, on an unforseen evil, that would soon strike our heroes without warning.

Chapter 1: The Blood Ogre Pack





Kino hugged Jep. "Please don't hurt me Jep, I would never drink beer, it was for... Um... Hm... HISASHI! It was for hisashi! Now please Jep. Leave me alone, it was just a joke, I promise I would never drink beer." Kino reassured Jep.


As Kino begged Jep for forgiveness, a scream followed by a crashing sound sounded through the Tavern. Kino's head snapped in the direction of the door, which was the direction from which the sounds had come from. He saw a guy sprawled out on the ground next to a broken table. "What tha..."


Footsteps could be heard coming from outside. "Who could that be?" Kino thought. Just then a man stepped into the bar, followed by five other men and a young looking girl. "Ladies and gentleman," The man said. "Sorry to interrupt your fine dining experience, but I'm afraid the Blood Ogre Pack will be taking over." The guy said.


After he had finished speaking, people began clearing out fast, making sure they steered clear of the guy and his group, but Kino stayed still.

[Robin man]

Jepitha was about to say something when he heard the door being slammed open. He raised an eyebrow as he looked at the small group of raiders. He let go of Kino before he walked over to them slowly. When he was about five feet away he cleared his throat. "So what's this about?" He asked who must be the leader curiously.

Maoni was sitting at the bar, just thinking to herself as she was handed water. Hisashi didnt bug her much but when the slamming occured, she sighed and downed her water before putting it down and getting from her seat, pulling her hood down "You and what army?" Maoni just had to ask as she made her way over, her katana appearing in her hand and her blue eyes narrowing. Her half Silver Half Black hair making her seem much more intimidating. Not that she wasnt...she really was intimidating

Hisashi sat at the bar, next to Maoni, when he heard Kino blame him for the beer.


He turned, and smacked him upside the head again.


"Don't lie like that! Do you want Papa Geppetto to kill m-"


He was cut off be the door slamming open and a body hitting a table.


He straightened up and walked to stand behind Jepitha, hammer in his right hand.


"Blood ogre? Seriously? Couldn't think of a better name?" He scoffed at the group who had announced their ursuping of the tavern.

The man had almost a foot on Jep. He was an older dude, salt and pepper colored hair that was cut short, with a beard to match.


"I am the leader of the Guild Blood Ogre." The man said. "Well the leader of our guild on floor 22. Anyways..." His men all had their hands on their weapons, but the girl who looked no older than Kino had a saddened face, and was off to the side. "I run this village, got it?" He said to Jep and the others. "I am the alpha... And the omega." He smiled. "Now I suggest you 3 leave before I take care of you... And when I say take care of you..." The man shifted his attention to Maoni, and began walking towards her. "I mean take GOOD care of you." He ended with a wink.


Kino had grown fes up with the guys bs. He grabbed a broken shard of glass from the mug Jep had broken, and activated his sword skill, throwing the shard straight into the man's eye from across the tavern.


The man let out a blood currdleing scream and fell back, being caught by his friends. "Listen... I don't know who the hell you think you are..." Kino said, hoping the swear word wouldn't make Jep angry. "But you need to leave. I dont think you want to mess with us. So leave... Or there's more where that came from."


The man stood, pulling the shard of glass out of his eye. He was breathing heavily, a sign he was still in pain. "I'm not gonna let a kid tell me what to do." The man said.


"Well..." Kino said, hopping down from here walking and standing in between his friends, and the Blood Ogre Pack. "I tried to warn you." He said. "You guys go ahead.* he said facing his group. "I won't complain if you beat me up... That was our agreement right Jep? I warn them, and if they don't listen, you get to fight them, so go ahead." Kino walked bast his friends and sat down at tthe bar once more.


Kino didn't like hurting people, nor did he like seeing Jeo hurt people, soi they made a pact that Kino would act as a warning system, and if they didn't listen, Jep could do as he pleased.


"Guys... What ya standing there for? Attack!" The man yelled. His five lackies charged at Maoni, Hisashi, and Jep, swords raised in the air.

Jepitha chuckled as he popped all of his knuckles. "Sounds like fun." He remembered the agreement that him and Kino made that Jepitha tried his best to keep his end of the bargain. He actually liked this system a ton, mainly because it made the fights more enjoyable because he doesn't fight everyday like he used to.


When one guy got close enough, Jepitha got low to the ground and then scooped up the guy, wrapping his arms around the mans waist. He held the guy in the air for a second before he threw the man through one of the tables. He grabbed a random table leg from the broken table and smacked another one of the men across the face with the leg, slowly he started grow a small grin on his face. Kino knows that grin. It's Jepithas Classic "This is fun." Grin on his face.

Kino smiled when he saw Jep's grin. "That guy..." He said watching Jep work. "Well... He's my friend." Kino sighed and took a sip of water from Jep's earlier cup. He noticed Hisashi and Maoni weren't really into the battle and were having a hard time battling their opponents. "What's wrong with them?" Kino got up and ran over to Maoni's guy, kicking him in the back of the knee causing him to fall. Kino then punched him in the face.


Next he went over towards Hisashi's guy, he picked up a tray for food and Frisbee threw it into the guys throat causing him to choke falling to the ground. "With ease, Jep took out the remaining two, leaving only the leader and the young girl standing.


" Anything else?" Kino asked the man.


The man looked on in disbelief. "No... How could you have." He sighed. "You worthless prices of crap. GET UP AND HEAD BACK TO THE BASE!" he yelled to his men, kicking one of them. They got up with groans, holding various body parts and walking out of the door.


The leader turned to the group. "Don't think this is over... Because it isn't." The man said. "DELIA! LET'S GO!" He yelled. The young girl said nothing, just obeyed him, but as she walked out, she gazed at Kino with a saddened look before leaving. Kino noticed the look and made a confused face but turned towardtowards Jep. "Who were they?" Kino asked. "And... I hate fighting Jep, but what were Maoni and Hisashi's problem? If I hadn't stepped in they'd be toast.


Kino looked down. " I can't believe... I hurt another human."

Maoni had her own problems with her Opponent and boy did she crash easily in this fight. it was probably because she barely slept in this game and continuously pushed her way through everything and it finally took a toll on her. As the Fight came to an end, she looked at the boys and sighed "Kino dont make a big deal out of it. They started this fight. Just be happy you didnt kill them." she said as she put her sword away and closed her eyes, trying to calm herself

"Now you talk? Why couldn't you talk earlier and let me know you weren't up for this. Now I've had to hurt people, and its all you and Hisashi's fall. I knew you weren't a nice lady." Kino walked towards the exit, then stopped. "I'm leaving... AND DONT BOTHER LOOKING FOR ME!!" Kino ran outside, away from the tavern,away from the village, into the dark woods that ran along the villages eastern edge. When he could barely see the lights of the village, the boy stopped to catch his breath, leaning against a tree and slumping down to the ground.


"Himiko... I promised." The boy said. " I promised... And now I'm a liar." Kino began to sob. "Why did you leave me Himiko? Why?"

Jepitha watched Kino running off into the night. He sighed heavily as he rubbed his face. "Alright." He said under his breathe as he started to follow Kinos foot prints in the snow, and it also helped that Kino forgot to leave the party earlier, so he could just track him with that. About fifteen minutes later he found Kino crying by himself. He didn't say anything, he just leaned against a tree and he waited for him.

Kino heard footsteps, and they grew louder meaning the person... Or thing, was getting closer to him, but he lacked the emotional energy to fight, so he just sat there, waiting for something to happen to him. When nothing did, he slowly raised his head, and looked around until he saw a familiar pair of slacks. He looked up to see Jep, leaning against a tree, and looking down at him. Kino said nothing, all he could manage to do is stand up and run to Jep like a little baby, hugging him around his waist and crying into his shirt. "I betrayed her... I told her I'd never hurt again. I betrayed her." Kino cried into Jeps shirt.

Jepitha didn't hesitated with hugging Kino back he would normally would, but he pulled Kino up to his feet, so now he was giving Jepitha a proper hug. Jepitha hugged his friend back, one hand in Kinos hair. He listed to Kino talking about breaking his promise. "I know, but shit happens. And I think she will forgive you for this one time, just because you were protecting people. And I think she would want that from you more then anything else." He whispered as he held Kino close to him.

Kino stopped crying and looked up at Jep. "Do you really think so?" He asked. Tears in his eyes from the crying fit he'd just had. Jep knew about Himiko from stories that Kino had told him. Himiko was who Kino had originally been with. She was about a year younger than kino, but he treated her like a little sisterz, and would hurt anyone for her.


But, there came a time when someone many levels higher than Kino came and tried to kill them both as revenge for someone Kino had thoroughly beat up. Himiko was killed, but Jep had arrived just in time to save Kino, and they've been together since. Kino had remembered seeing a message having arrived, and it was from Himiko... Probably lag. The message read that she wanted him to stop putting himself in danger by constantly fighting others, and until to day... he had.


"Tell me!" Kino yelled at Jep. "Do you really think... She would've?!?"

Jepitha gently put one finger over Kinos mouth and said. "Shhhhhhh... Yes I do think so. There's a difference between hurting someone for the safety of others, and senselessly hurting people. And not to be one of those people that'll say that I know this person well enough to know she would agree. Well I don't know her too well, but I do know at least she wants everybody to be happy, and to do that she would be happier knowing that you protected someone for good intentions."

Hisashi laughed as the opponents retreated, and threw a few insults after them.


"Yeah that ah right, you better think twice before crossing us again!" He shouted out the door.


"You guys that wa-" he stopped as Kino began to yell and pushed past Hisashi out the door.


"What just..." He decided it was best not to ask as Jepitha exited after Kino.


He turned around and walked back towards the bar and took a seat.


He spun in the stool and turned to Maoni.


"It's probably best if we stay out of that. They've got this weird sibling kind of thing going on, Jep and Kino, it's kinda weird if you ask me.


Anyways, you want anything? Im thinking I'll get a beer, though it probably tastes worse than they do back in the real world." He sighed.

Maoni didnt say anything as she sat there, she was getting her grip on everything around her. Being thrown off her game was not something she needed. Maybe joining a party was a bad idea. Especially spending time with these boys. Soon enough she said something "After this I dont need you finding me. You nor the others. I need to fight my way up just like everyone else. It was hard enough as it is to stay with you guys. I dont need unnessarry relationships with people I might one day lose."

Hisashi's jaw clenched when Maoni had finished talking, never making eye contact with her.


He muttered to the understandably shocked bartender who quickly rushed off before coming back with two drinks.


Hisashi slid one down to Maoni and stared at his own.


"If that's what you really want, I won't stop you, nor will i or the other two try to find you. But you know..." Hisashi's voice was much harder and serious than before.


He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, "You don't fool me for a second. The last think you want is to be alone, and we both know fighting solo is MUCH more dangerous than in a group so don't give me that 'I need to become stronger on my own' crap."


Sighing, his face softened, and his voice returned to its normal, carefree tone. "But whatever, it's all just a game, right? Life, SAO, that's all it is, huh? We'll all get out of here eventually, so why waste time making friends, right?" He chuckled before takin a sip of the beer.


"Careful, these things taste like straight up piss." He said before standing up and beginning to walk towards the door.

Something broke inside Maoni and it wasnt a sad break. It was an angry break. "I'm not giving you any crap Hisashi!" she snapped, glaring at her party member. Or who was no longer going to be part of the party with her. "Im serious, I had enough pain with how many friends i've lost in this game! I have seen how they die. The face they wore, it was too much too bear!" she took the beer glass and threw it towards him, only for it to fly past him and shatter against the wall. "You dont know what pain i've gone through! So dont talk like you know what I've saw!" since Hisashi wasnt looking towards her, he couldnt see the tears that built up in her eyes, nor the pained expression that was upon her face.

Kino had cried into Jeps shirt for a few more minutes and eventually fallen asleep. There was a constamt rrocking motion that kept him lulled to sleep. "Huh... What is this?" He thought. Suddenly the sound of glass braking woke him from his slumber. He looked down to see the back of Jep's head and realized the rocking motion was caused by the fact that Jep was carrying him on his back.


"Huh!" When Kino came to this realization he flailed around and fell off of Jep's back landing on his butt. "Owwwww." He said as he stood up. "When did I fall asleep?" He asked Jep.

Hisashi stopped in his way to the door, and just in time to not be hit by a flying beer bottle.


"Ya see, that's where you're wrong." He said, voice shaking. "I came here with 4 of my best friends in the world, we stayed up for two days waiting in line to buy this stupid game. This was supposed to be some fun way for us to hang out and guess what?


I had to watch them die. All of them. I remember every face they made as it happened, every painful scream, and you know the worst part? The worst part about seeing your best friends slaughtered by a GAME?"


He turned around and lifted his finger to tap his forehead. "Realizing that you caught every excruciating second of it on FILM.


So yeah, I KNOW what it's like, so does most EVERYONE in this damn game, but at least everyone else is basing together to try to get out of here."


He said before turning around once more and walking out the door.


"Damnint Hisashi, now she's gonna hate you forever."

Maoni just sat there, tears streaming down her face as she watched Hisashi walk out of the building. Why did she feel more and more crushed each time? This is why she avoided these things at all costs. She pulled out her teleport crystal and teleported to the one floor she knew she could calm down and relax her nerves in...Her cabin she had awaiting her in a calm floor that didnt have many monsters that were threatning. Maoni did not want anyone else to see her cry like she was right now. Soon enough, she was gone from the seat, but not gone from the party. She was so upset she forgot to leave the party..

Jepitha looked back to Kino when he heard him falling off of him and screaming. He raised an eyebrow as he crossed his arms looking down at him. "You fell asleep after a few minutes of crying. And if you don't mind, I'm gonna go and check on the other two and get a room for a night. If there isn't an open room, then we'll head to my place." He said before he pulled Kino up to his feet then walked to the tavern.

They had arrived just in time for Hisashi to rush past them and catch a glimpse of Maoni before she teleported out of there. "What!?!" Kino said. "What happened? Why are they leaving?" He asked Jep, confused as to what had just happened.

Jepitha shrugged as he watched Hisashi walking past them. "I don't know, I wasn't here for that part. Ask Hisashi what happened while I check on the room." He instructed before he walked inside and went to the bartender.

"Kay!" Kino said. He went off to look for Hisashi. He looked for a while and found no trace of him. "That's strange." Kino said turning and heading back to the room where he found Jep. "No sign of him." Kino said sitting down on the bed. "I think he ran off like Maoni.


Meanwhile, Hisashi was in a chair deep deep down in a cave. " You and your friends thought you could just take what was ours?" The man asked stabbing Hisashi in the leg with a dagger poisoned with paralysis. "Huh?" He pulled the dagger put and stabbed Hisashi in the eye, moving it around. "Hurts doesn't it?" He asked. "Celesica!" Hisashi was almost dead, and the man called his daughter, the girl from earlier too Heal Hisashi, which she did.


"I'm gonna keep you alive so you can watch your friends be captured, tortured, and killed. Starting with your little friend. And as for your girlfriend, il show her what a real man does." The man walked out, leaving the dagger in his eye. "Celesica, keep watch over him. Make sure he doesnt fall asleep, and if he dies... Well lets just say he won't." The man said before waiving to Hisashi and leaving.

"Think he's okay?" Kino asked Jep.
