Fantasy Supernatural Teenage Drama

Jackie smiled at him as she walked past. "Thanks, you're a gentleman." A poster caught her eye, and she turned to Alec. "On a lighter note, I had no idea there was a dance tonight." She pointed to the poster pinned up to the 'Announcements' board. "Why does no one tell me these things?" She said, shaking her head playfully.

Alec laughed. "There's one every year. Don't know if I'll go. I have a detention now anyways." He knew the detention would end before the dance, but he usually didn't go to school events. It got old after so many years. "You going?" He wandered down the mostly empty hallway.

Jordan listened to him curiously, "I hope that someday you will get a chance to make amends with them." She replied. She thought about his words about the war. Who would she be with. She always thought she'd side with the gifted because that's what she was, but now his word struck her and she didn't know. She just prayed a war wouldn't come. She focused back in on Rob.

"Eh. Maybe. I don't usually go to these things... too many people, too much effort. Once I was asked to fill in the bass for one of the bands playing at a gig, and I absolutely hated it. Crowds are just... no." She grinned then. "Then again, I might go just to make fun of the preteens who think they can dance... Wanna join me?" She asked Alec with a devilish expression. She stopped, then, and realized what she just said. She hoped he didn't take it in a weird way.

"Sure. I'll go. Might be fun." Alec glanced at his watch. "What's your next class?" He pulled out his schedule. "I've got... Anatomy." He looked at her hopefully. None of his friends were back from summer vacation yet. The school started early, and they were usually lenient on kids coming back late. If their families were willing to still have the kids, the school wasn't about to get in the way.

"Yeah me too.. I really hope so... so what are you doing tonight?"

"What are you doing?"

"I heard there was a dance, like a 'Welcome back to School' type dance thing."

"Stop it. Abort. ABORT"

"I wanted to know if you wanted to go with me.. as friends... or acquaintances?"

"Smooth, Tin man."

"Err. Let me check..." Jackie rustled through her bag, trying to find her schedule. She looked up at Alec sheepishly. "I was actually planning to ditch my regular classes today, so I don't know my schedule... Aha! Found it." She pulled it out and scanned the paper. "Hey, same! Anatomy! Wait, why am I even taking Anatomy?" she mumbled to herself. Then she shrugged it off and grinned. "Shall we?"

"Ruby" Ryan corrected Miu then stood up, "Miu, you want to go walk around?" He glanced at a clock through a window, "Or...maybe to class? It's about to start". The teen looked at his schedule and blocked the course title again. So far it's been meteors and telepathy. Wait, the meteor thing was actually a history elective? In what way? Ryan thought as he saw the course title. He shook his head then started to wonder what his next class was.

Jordan laughed softly from his invitation, "Well..." She thought for a moment and grinned, "I would hope to be able to call us friends first of all. And second..." She shrugged, "Sure it could be fun." She was actually nervous, considering this was the first time any guy had asked her to do something like this, but she tried to hide it. It was rather difficult considering she was feeling both hers and Rob's nervousness. She smiled when she noticed that he was nervous. "You know... You don't have to be nervous... I'm pretty chill!" She joked around grinning.

He shrugged. "I didn't pick it either. But whatever. I think the Anatomy classroom is at the end of this wing." The hallways were beginning to fill again as the study period ended and the bell rang. Out of the corner of his eye, Alec saw what seemed to be yet another fight. Well, not quite yet. It was still an argument. Sighing, he pushed his way through the crowd and stepped in between the two other kids. As he expected, it was the gifted versus ungifted argument again. "Come on, go to class," he said, staring at the guys. "Security's cracking down today. You'll get caught."

"Er sorry. Im normally not good with girls.. or people for that matter.." He blushed a little, "Oh Im probably making you nervous cause Im nervous, which Im sure is just not helping you. Oh boy." He face palmed and then scratched his head. "As you can tell, Im about as smooth as sand paper."

"Right, sorry." Miu nodded to Ryan and stood up, starting back towards the double doors. "I have Close Combat next. I don't like to fight unless I have to." While the class was centered around fighting ability, it also incorporated the use of short bursts of various powers to enhance one's performance and was therefore considered a class for the gifted. "I hope we're in the same class. You're not mean." That sounded more normal in her head, but Miu shrugged it off and continued walking.

Jackie hung back as she watched Alec break up yet another argument. "Fifth one today," she commented quietly as they resumed making their way to class. "What's wrong with everyone?" She shook her head. "Especially the younger ones."

"The younger ones are scared. They didn't live it the same way we did. They remember being on lockdown. We went about our lives as normally as possible but the little ones were on lockdown." Alec looked grim as he returned to her side. "I can't blame them for being scared. But this is exactly what happened before. All the fear, anger. Edging towards panic."

Jordan smiled at him and shook her head, "Don't worry about it! I don't mind! And you can't help how you're feeling so don't worry about that either." She thought for a moment and smirked, "And just between me and you, I'm actually am nervous too. Not just because you are." She shrugged, "It's natural." Jordan heard the bell ring signalling the end of the study period and looked at Rob. "We better start heading to class as well."

"I have Close Combat next, which is kind of pointless for me. What about you?" He stood and looked at her and smiled a little. He was relaxing a little, his body posture showed it.

"Hey.., we didn't completely mess that up..."

Ryan laughed, "Thanks. We shall see what class I'm in". He began walking to a room, "This isn't headed to the Close Combat room. I don't think we have the same class next Miu". Ryan looked around, "Here have the rest for your awful loss of awesomeness by your side". The teen handed the rest of the cookies to her then walked in the room, "Anatomy?!" Someone definitely messed with his schedule.

"I just hope that nothing's going to happen. I thought we learned our lesson." Alec's grim expression was heavy on her mind as she pushed open the classroom door. "Maybe they'll let off some steam tonight?" She said hopefully, looking back at him. She inclined her head at two empty seats. "Wanna sit together?" she asked, just as a guy walked in and said "Anatomy?!" in a bewildered voice. For some reason she found that funny, and started laughing.

"Oh," she replied, her voice deflated but accepting the cookies nonetheless. Once Ryan was gone, Miu no longer felt the need to hurry to class. Finishing off the cookies, she wandered around until she no longer knew were she was. The hallway was deserted with a thin layer of dust on the ground. That was odd. She thought she had explored every part of the school. Disregarding the time, Miu headed down the unlit path, munching on her last bite.

"Maybe we did. They didn't see it as much." Alec nodded and dropped his books on the desk. He glanced over at the kid. "If you don't think it's right, then go to the office and get it fixed," he suggested, tilting his head. "Didn't you know what class you were walking into?"

Jordan smiled happily, "Actually, I have that class too! And probably for good reason considering my abilities are... Kind of not going to help me in a fight." She grinned ruefully at that, but still felt happy from going to the same class as him. She also felt noticeably more relaxed, and smiled at that. She started walking towards the class.

Ryan rubbed the back of his neck and sat down at a desk. What was this madness? What was his next class? Theater?! There was nothing wrong with theater, but it didn't seem to match his intended academic path. Ryan turned to see Alec again, "Nah. I decided to surprise myself with whatever order my classes were in. Anyway, everything happens for a reason right?" He forced a smile trying to make the situation a bit positive then faced the board.

Jackie grinned at the new guy. "You seem awfully down about anatomy," she laughed. "But that's a cool way to think. What's your name?" she asked, holding out her hand.

Robby smiled to Jordan as they walked, "Well, if you keep me around, I'll protect you. Thats a benefit of having a Tin Man as a friend." He winked and opened the door for her as they walked in together.

"Are we flirting?"

"Define 'we' because its pretty one sided."

"You're negative."

"Wait, she isn't... Jordan if you're reading this stop please."

Ryan looked back at the girl then responded, "There's nothing wrong with anatomy. It's interesting, but I was expecting physics or something. Anyway, Ryan. And you?" He shook her hand. Ryan thought back to the classes he selected. Physics was definitely his science class, but where in the world did METEOR HISTORY COME FROM? How was that a history elective? Was is for science ge-...fans who needed more history credits?
