James Mitchelsten

Once James had vented all his anger on the poor wall(which was now destroyed on his side, although he made sure to leave the cords alone, being electrocuted would suck.), he picked up his brother's phone to redial the number he called before. He flipped it open before scrolling down the names until he hit the one he was looking for. He clicked Dial.

Vitae Colony

The Elders were a little shocked when the man approached them  "Excuse me Elders, I have something I need to discuss with you about the defense of the colony."  He'd managed to pique the interest of the men and women on the stage, Brendan would glance back towards his seated colleagues before turning back to Hypnos, "Come up here, speak with us."  They would not turn down an opportunity to hear potential assistance in the defense of their home and their people.  Brendan would be directing his two advisers, Anna and Maxwell, to join the hunters on the floor, waiting for the crowd to finish dispersing, they wanted to know who they had in the ways of Medics and Military trained combatants.

The gruff voice James had spoken to the day previous answered again.  "Vitae."  As always the man was collecting a clipboard, "This this kid, James?"  The man wasn't waiting for an answer.  "Got word from one of our runner teams, they're on their way back from New York, going to make a trip out to pick you up.  You be ready to go the second they arrive.  We got problems here, and we don't got time to dally around, you understand me?"  The man was watching the crowd emerge from the rec center, it didn't look like good new, of course he'd been brief prior, but it looked as though something else may be happening.

The fact that Brendan and the other Elders were unwilling to tell them who the hunter was had aggravated the confrontational hunter and his friends to the boiling point.  They'd congregated outside the rec center together, angrily speaking about the events from inside.  How dare the Elders stop them from protecting their home?  Why would they defend the live of one over the lives of many?  The crowd was growing until someone had spoken up.  Weren't there four hunters out last night?  Some discussion later it was recalled that there were indeed four of them, one was injured and likely at the clinic.  If the Elders were going to prevent them from asking their questions to the three inside, well they'd just have to ask the fourth.  At this the group started to traverse down the road towards the clinic, dead set on questioning the hunter, they wanted answers.

Hypnos smiled and joined the Elders on the stage. This would be the most difficult part. Revealing to the leadership of the colony of his true nature, and resigning himself to become an imprisoned asset to mortals. If his brother Thanatos were here he'd simply kill a few of the Elders to get his point across before telling them that they weren't equipped to handle what was coming next. That was the last thing Hypnos needed to do.  "Well... I suppose I should just come right out and introduce myself first. It was then that Hypnos took out his staff and planted it onto the stage.

"My name is Hypnos and I am the deity of Sleep, Dreams, and Nightmares. I was woken from my slumber by far more than a pack of werewolves, and I intend to help you survive the coming storm... for a price." Hypnos said letting his words hang there for a moment before naming his price, " My wife.... my dear Pasithea has been taken, and I need the help of you hunters to find her. " Hypnos would wait to see their reactions. Most of his cards were laid out for the humans to see. Now all that was left was to see what they would do with them.

Elijah looked at William and Ash as they stayed seated, the vast majority of the rest of the crowd filing out. He sighed. The Elder had asked for those with military and medical experience to stay behind. Ashley had the latter. Will had both. Elijah had neither. As much as he hated the idea of being left out of the loop, the rational part of his head argued that here he just one Hunter among many. Besides, Hendrix would be sure to fill him in when he returned. With a sigh, Davenport reluctantly stood, giving the two of them a nod. "See you back at the house. I'll be sure to look in on Mackenzie on the way." With that, Eli turned on his heel and made his way toward the clinic.

William stood up, making eye contact with the Elder's two advisers on the floor. However, something else caught his attention. Hypnos was on stage... speaking to the Elders. He cursed under his breath. Little to be done at this point; he just hoped it didn't go as badly as he was expecting.

Chase Keaton & Joe Keaton

Vitae Colony

Chase watched as people walked quickly past he and his father, the two walking up a slightly sloped area with their things in tow. From what they'd heard people were headed to a meeting or something along those lines. Chase was hauling most of their gear, and looked over his shoulder at his father who was a tall man with a receding hairline who was arguably exiting his prime. "I'm still not so sure about this." Chase had made no secret of his reluctance to live alongside a colony of hunters but his father Joe was more confident in Chase's ability to hide in plain sight. But this wouldn't account for the dozens of things that could go wrong or happen that they had no control of.

Joe simply shook his head and caught up so they could speak silently, "It'll be fine. We're here to help, and to have a place to come back to for safety." This caused Chase to snort, "Safety, that's what you call this...moderated panic?" With one arm waving towards a group of hunters heading past them. "I told you I caught whiff of wolves on the way here, and now we are going to get caught up in all of it." When the two reached the top of the area they paused, looking at the building the gathering was seemingly being held in. Chase wanted to hear exactly what was going on but when he looked at his dad the older man's eyes were clearly searching for the barracks they'd been directed towards.

The younger man gave a low huff of a sigh, thinking to how they could have easily never gotten in because of the tests at the gate and this train of thought had him look at his flexing palm. A cut across the middle of the palm was already starting to heal ever so slightly, "Luckily Roland owed me a favor." Came Joe's voice to which Chase looked up at the man who simply gave him a reassuring wink before moving forwards passed Chase. Luckily. The younger man repeated in his mind.

Roland had been a friend of the family for a long time, having teamed up on hunts occasionally. The man was one of the few people who knew Chase's secret, and even fewer that accepted him. Roland was the one to administer the test when they'd arrived, it had been set up beforehand when Joe had called ahead. Roland had simply switched out the silver knife with a normal knife for Chase's test, thankfully the man had kept his word. Chase trusted Roland but when you don't see someone for a few years it's hard to tell how they're morals work, especially these days and in this line of work.

Now a bit behind his father Chase realized he would need to jog to catch up, but upon looking up he froze in place at the sight of a large group of what he guessed to be hunters heading his general direction. Chase practically felt the color drain from his face as he stood like a deer in headlights with enough bags on his person to look like a small pack mule. Chase assumed that this was it, that the charade hadn't worked one bit and he was about to be swarmed. That the colony had some sort of werewolf detection device erected elsewhere and that he was standing with a neon sign above his head that read, Hi, I'm a Werewolf.

It wasn't until the group started to pass him by did he finally exhale. Followed by Joe retracing his footsteps back to Chase after realizing his son hadn't followed along. "Wonder what that's all about." Joe mumbled looking curiously around Chase's form at the crowd that had nearly given the younger man a heart attack. Chase's eyes followed suite with his turning head, "No freakin' clue." He was far too much edge for this shit.

The Elders would watch Hypnos and listen to his offer and the price of his assistance.  There would be silence among the Elders for a moment or two before one of the seated men would guffaw, face turning red, he'd lean forward holding his sides laughing.  "You..."  He was coughing, attempting to control his laughter so he could speak. "You expect us to firstly believe your are a Pagan God, then secondly willingly help you? "  He was calming now, taking a deep breath and sitting back in his seat.  "Gods do not require the assistance of mortals, nor do they offer their help.... Why should we believe you are what you say you are?"  At this Brendan took a step back, allowing Hypnos full access to the Elders on the stage, though he wasn't certain of this mans claims, he certainly wasn't about to piss off a god.

Ashley would give Elijah a pensive glance as he was leaving the rec center, worried about him leaving alone after the incidents during the Meet.  She could only hope he would keep himself out of trouble.  Brendan's advisers, seeing the crowd dwindle to those that were remaining would call the hunters forward, closer to them, Anna would speak.  "Alright, Medics, tomorrow we'll need to you get yourself to the clinic eight AM sharp for a skills assessment, We are going to need people both skilled within the clinic during the attack and some stationed around the walls to assist with fallen allies.  We had hoped to enlist the assistance of some of the angels that had come to Vitae as of late, but thus far they seemed to have vanished."  She'd give a small smirk. "No surprise there."

Maxwell would step in.  "For those of you with military training I need you to step forward and give us your name, rank and brief combat experience. We need to get our civilians into shape; we don't expect them to be running the walls with us, but if wolves get through we need them to be able to hold their ground." The man had a clipboard and pen, and would record information as the military trained men would step forward.

The nurse at the clinic had turned away the first man to have approached, simply telling him he wasn't family, he wasn't going to gain admittance.  However as the second and third had approached the woman had become nervous.  She'd locked the clinic door and gone to wake up Mackenzie, the only person within the clinic who these men would be after.  She'd wake up slowly, the effects of the pain relievers leaving her groggy and tired, she would frown at the nurse as she spoke quickly, "What?"  It was a different nurse than from when she fell asleep, this one was young and clearly civilian, she repeated herself to Mackenzie. "There is a group of men outside, wanting to come in here and talk to you..."  Mackenzie could see the growing fear in the young woman's face.

Mackenzie would sigh and nod, Brendan must have called the Meet he was intending on, but she was surprised he would have told them about her, surprised and disappointed.  She'd push herself up to sit, burning pain returning to her back, but she'd ignore it.  "Alright, " She'd look at the nurse.  "I'll leave, I've got somewhere to go so you don't need to worry, but I need you to wrap up my back and then IV."  The nurse would nod, understanding and head off to find the necessary supplies.

Laughter... Well disbelief was an option and it's not like he was walking around in his true godly form. Hypnos simply smiled, " Of course why would a God need the help of mortals. Aren't they all powerful beings? And why would you believe a 20 something with a stick who claimed to be a god." Hypnos said nodding to himself as he watched the Elders. " Well then firstly allow me to prove to you that I am who I say I am. "

hellenic_mythology___hypnos__the_god_of_sleep_by_emanuellakozas-d61ybay.jpg

Hypnos' form shifted and blurred for a moment, but once it settled it revealed the god for what he was. No longer holding back his power the Elders would begin to feel sleepy just in the presence of the god. " Now... shall I give you an example of my power like my brother Thanatos would, or have I convinced you?" Hypnos asked folding the wings that sprout from his head against himself. He would wait to explain why he needed the mortals help after he had thoroughly convinced them.

William nodded at Anna's command to show up at the clinic tomorrow morning. He'd be there. The man then turned his attention to Maxwell, stepping closer to the man as he waited for a few other Hunters to share their relevant information, listening closely. They were a motley band of candidates from various services and career fields in the military. There were more than a few young men and women who looked like they were fresh from the fight, while others seemed to have left the battlefield behind them decades ago.

Finally Maxwell turned to Will, who stepped forward. "William Hendrix. Formerly Sergeant First Class, United States Army. I served three years with the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment as an Infantryman. Spent eight years after that with 1st Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group. Served with a few Alpha Teams and the CIF Company. I was a Special Forces-trained Medical Sergeant, qualified sniper. I've been on about a dozen combat rotations overseas between Iraq and Afghanistan." Hendrix's tone was mechanical, almost a monotone. There was no hint of pride or superiority in his demeanor, just a man professionally reciting his resume. He opened his mouth to speak again when there was a commotion to his right. His head turned to see Hypnos -- the true Hypnos -- confronting the Elders. "Goddammit," he muttered, waiting to watch the reactions of those around him.

Elijah was approaching the clinic, pausing when he saw a crowd having formed outside, apparently pressing for entry. It didn't take long to put two and two together -- Brennan's attempts at secrecy had fallen short. It would have only been a matter of time before the less-enthusiastic members of the crowd had gone to the clinic to find the mysterious Hunter they blamed for their impending crisis. That meant Mack was in serious danger, especially in her current state. Davenport broke into a jog, moving around the back side of the clinic to see if he could find a way to gain entry that didn't involve fighting his way through a mob of veteran Hunters only to reach a locked door.

James seemed pleased when the same man picked up, he waited for the man to finish speaking before replying, "Yes of course, I am already ready to go if need be." he states simply, a slight accent pulling through. He was lying a bit, he was almost ready to go, there were a dew things he still needed to drop in the bag, and there was the problem of how to bring his weapons with, they were all in his brother's car, other then the ones he had on him. As the man spoke, he walked around the motel room, collecting the last few of his and his brother's belongings.

The hunter speaking to James would give a grunt when the kid gave him the affirmative.  "Alright then, they've been directed to contact you when they arrive, few hours at most.  Just be clear kid, you might not be coming to a better spot, but at least you won't be alone."  The man would frown, uncertain of the coming events.  "Alright you best be ready, kid.  See you soon."  He'd disconnect the call without so much as waiting for James to say goodbye.  Work had to be done.

The Elders would listen to Hypnos, waiting for this 'display' of his power. They'd feel the drowsiness enthrall them, dulling their senses, wanting to drift off.  Some would not having he power to resist the gods effects, other's fought and those that remained awake where presented with the gods true form, they were in awe, for a time, simply starting.  The god would question them, their belief and those that remained away would nod, enthusiastically.  "Yes, we're listening."

Ashley had received her instructions having no doubt she would be able to attend the appointment without any delay, other medics were dispersing as the crowds had, but she'd decided to wait for William, assuming his instructions would be as short lived as her own (and his first) had been.  She wasn't paying much attention what what William provided to Maxwell for information, if she had she likely wouldn't have understood most of it, having no relation to military in any way.  She'd been idly watching Hypnos speaking to the Elders, the god certainly had audacity, given he was withing a town of hunters, people that killed non-human entities, and then he was displaying.  She couldn't help but watch, first shocked, then flustered.  What did he think he would gain by doing this?

The nurse, with shaking hands, had worked at wrapping first gauze then a bandage around Mackenzie's torso, the injured woman remained as still as possible but she couldn't help but hiss when the nervous nurse occasionally pulled too hard, bringing pain.  The door at the back of the clinic rattled and the nurse yelped. "They're coming."  She'd whimper, as much as Mackenzie knew the young woman was scared, it was already becoming tiresome.  The nurse started to move away but Mackenzie stopped her, "Finish." She'd say to the woman in a hushed voice, listening for more movement but she hadn't heard anything.  When the nurse was done Mackenzie was pulling her shirt back over her head and climbing from the bed, cursing herself for still being barefoot.  She'd wave the nurse towards the door.  "Open it slowly."

Mackenzie would follow the nurse towards the back, picking up a pair of surgical scissors in her left hand, the one wrapped with the IV connection still embedded in her flesh.  As the nurse came to the door she'd brace herself, raising her fists, readying for a fight.  They were coming to take her, she was fine with it, but they were going to pay in blood for every inch they tried to take.  She'd nod to the nurse who unlocked the door and opened it slowly.

Chase Keaton & Joe Keaton

Vitae Colony

"We should at least get an ear for what's going on." Chase spoke, taking a step to go after the group only to be stopped by a hand on his shoulder halting him. "How about I do the recon while you go get our stuff settled in?" Joe spoke from behind Chase, unloading two of his own bags and wrapping them over Chase's shoulders. While the older had spoke with a question Chase knew that arguing wouldn't get anywhere, his old man was stubborn. Chase simply muttered out a "Fine." before turning in the opposite direction and the two splitting up.

------

The group of hunters had stopped at a clinic, most going inside but a few had stayed just outside. Joe flashed a smile as he moved in to converse with those outside, learning quickly of what was going on. The countdown to the werewolf attack, loss of an outpost, the recent recon mission that didn't end well, and that there might be a sympathizer inside who was a traitor because of werewolf relatives. The man couldn't help but take offense to this because of his own situation with his son, but didn't let it show. This was sounding more and more like a witch-hunt because of simple circumstances. But Joe knew not to stir things up with accusations, he and Chase didn't need that sort of trouble now, especially being the newest hunters to arrive. Instead he tried to show neutrality in the conversation.

-------

It didn't take long for Chase to wander across the colony and find the barracks, it was as expected and he'd lived in much worse so he wasn't too bothered. There was a lack of privacy that worried him a little. Chase spoke to the one in charge of the area and set their things down on the two beds that they'd be sleeping on and was considered their space. To which there was limited space but it didn't take long to get their belongings shoved under the beds and locked into the footlockers. And once finished he emerged from the building, curiosity having eaten away at him over time. And if there was one thing this place had was a ton of smells and scents, the sort of smells you'd get from hunters and the gear one would need to take care of the many different supernatural forces. So he simply started walking back in the direction he'd come from.

Hypnos nodded at those who were still awake, " Good.... let's have a chat about how we can help one another then." With that Hypnos once again restrained his godly power and reverted to the form of a young twenty something in formal attire. " Now as I said. My dear Wife has been taken from me while she was out helping some starving artist with their latest work of art. The reason why I need the help of your mortals is because I've already checked half of the world, and I can't find her. So either she's in this hemisphere, or the things that took her know better than to sleep with my wife in their hands." Hypnos said his as legendary calm and happy smile twisting into one of anger. It was an emotion that Hypnos very rarely experienced in his very long life. So he wasn't sure what to do. " I need your help finding her before I do something I will regret for the rest of my life. I want to avoid hurting any life as much as possible, but if my wife is harmed.... I Kay take a page from my brother's book."

Will kept a cautious eye on Hypnos, listening to what the god had to say. He couldn't say he was surprised; he suspected Hypnos had to have some sort of ulterior motive in aiding humans, Hunters at that. He just didn't expect it to be... this. Hendrix turned to give Ashley an apprehensive glance and shrug.

Elijah made his way to the back of the clinic without the Hunters spotting him. Unfortunately, he wasn't the first one to have the idea. One of the mob had beaten him there and was muttering obscenities under his breath as he shook the handle of the clinic's locked door. Luckily, his back was turned. Davenport wasted no time, stalking toward the man and launching his attack. He drove his knee upward, into the small of his back, his right arm wrapping around the front of his neck in a vice-like clinch, while Elijah's free arm locked it into place on the opposite side. He applied pressure, dragging the man backwards across his knee to keep him off balance. The Hunter made no sound; he never had a chance. Eyes went wide as his hands flailed at Davenport's arms for several seconds before finally going limp.

The clinic door flew open. Eli turned his attention to it, seeing a female nurse standing there -- the look on her face betrayed more than mere confusion. Behind her, clearly ready for a fight, was Mackenzie. Davenport smiled at them, releasing his grip on the Hunter and letting the man's unconscious body droop to the ground. He gently pressed two fingers to the side of the man's neck to ensure his heart was still beating steadily. Elijah stood up, nodding to the two women in turn. "Ma'am. Mackenzie," he calmly stepped over the slumbering body to enter the clinic. He glanced at Mack, "You look... well. I think it's time we left, though."

SXbaX9C.jpg

The Elders were bewildered at the gods request, Brendan would be stepping inwards then, to address Hypnos himself, "I understand your concerns, but what exactly are we to do in order to find your wife?"  If a god couldn't find her, then how could mortals?  It was far too confusing for the Elders to really grasp how they could help, not to mention turning down his request -demand, would be devastating to the colony, he'd made it clear his intentions here were not of good will but for his gained purposes.

Ashley shook her head as she made eye contact with Will, she'd known someone what amiss with the god, he hadn't shown himself to help Mackenzie, he'd come for his own purposes.  This is why she'd never believe in any but the One True God.  She'd nod towards the door. "Let's get out of here, before this comes back at us too."  She didn't want more hunters knowing that they were linked to the god that was currently threatening the Elders of the colony, it was bad enough they were going to have to keep a low profile as it were.

Mackenzie was first startled then relieved to see Eli on the other side of the doorway, she, in know way, was ever going to win the fight, not in her current condition .  She'd sigh, relaxing and give him a chiding smile as he mocked her current appearance.  "Yea, I'm guessing Brendan ratted me out."  She'd be handing the scissors, handles first, to the nurse whom would take them cautiously.  The nurse was quickly striding to the storage cabinets and returning with more of the same pain relievers Mackenzie had been given previously,. "Take these, for later.  You'll need to keep your blood pressure down."  The nervous young woman would glance towards Eli, uncertain if she should let Mackenzie go as Mackenzie was pocketing the provided drugs, she would give the girl a smile.  "Don't worry, I've got some great medic friends, I'll be fine."  She was stepping towards the door before pausing.  "Wait ten minutes, then open the front door, let them in, and lock this one behind us."  She didn't want the nurse in and deeper than she already was.

Outside, door closed behind them, Mackenzie would glance towards Elijah.  "Think we can make it to the house unseen?"  She seriously doubted her stealthiness at this point, even now she could feel the burning ache returning to her back.  "I don't have any weapons in the house, they're in my car, Ash wouldn't think to bring them in."

Will nodded at Ashley's suggestion. "Let's get back to the house. I hope he knows what he's doing," he muttered, turning to head "home" after making sure that Ash was following him. Her fears were well-founded; if anything, this meeting had shown that many Hunters in this Colony were not particularly open-minded. It wouldn't take long to connect Hypnos to those he had arrived with. Between that and Mackenzie's "situation", not to mention the Wolves on the proverbial horizon... things had the potential to go very, very bad over the next few days.

Eli raised a hand to his chin, rubbing it thoughtfully as he surveyed the situation, leaning out from the corner of the clinic slowly to take stock of their surroundings. The house wasn't far, but there were a lot of angry eyes looking for them. Mackenzie's condition wasn't conducive to fighting or running, which left the vague hope of stealth. He didn't like the odds of negotiation at this point. These Hunters had done little to convince him of their ability to hold a rational conversation... their unconscious comrade wouldn't help matters in that regard. Davenport reached to the small of his back, drawing the karambit sheathed there and twirling it into a reverse grip in his right hand. Finally, he replied, "Will and I have a few weapons stashed at the house. It's the closest shelter we have. I'd rather us not be seen, but if we are... can you run?"

Exiting the rec center Ashley could sigh with a little bit of relief, being within the walls with the false god was tense, more so because she felt guilty for not making the colony aware of his presence.  If she had, then perhaps they could have avoided what was currently occurring between him and the Elders.  She'd walk with William towards their housing, but before long it would be come evident that the clinic, located next to their house was drawing a crowd.  She'd stopped, unwilling to go forward, "Wait."  She'd speak softly, so far none of the gathered hunters noticed either of them. "If they follow us to the house, and Mac is there...."  She wasn't certain if the hunters would recognize her and William, then a thought crossed her mind. "Where did Elijah go?"

Mackenzie would watching Elijah with a frown.  "Can yes,"  She'd say, "Want, no."  She knew full well that running would do to her sutures, however the alternative was likely a worse situation.  She'd step cautiously towards the edge of the building, glancing around the corner to the amassing crowd.  Slipping back behind the building she'd hiss. "I'm going to hurt Brendan of this, that pompous ass."  She'd had warned him the night before that revealing anything about her having knowledge or connections to the pack or old colony would be disastrous, "Alright then,"  She'd walk slowly along the back of the building, towards where the house was, once more she'd look around the corner, fewer hunters gathered on this side, looking around the back of the clinic there wasn't much but the mowed lawn and of course the hedges that separated the clinic's lot from the houses yard.  Steeling herself she'd watch the hunters until the majority of them were facing away from the direction in which they were headed, she'd move, as quickly as she could without undue pain for the hedges.  Along the side she was thankful that someone had neglected them enough to provide partial shelter.  Without looking to see if Eli was following she was forcing her way through the hedge to the yard behind the house, branches dragging across her back, she bit her lip to stop herself from making any noise.

Hypnos looked dazed and confused at the Elders words and at the reactions of the other Elders. As if waking from a trance Hypnos rubbing his brow as if he were in pain. A negative emotion such as anger was something he was biologically not meant to handle. Such emotions were the territory of his brothers Thanatos. He was supposed to be the steadfast ally of humanity. Ever calm, ever cheerful, ever compassionate. Yet here he was threatening humans because of something they didn't do and expecting something unreasonable from them. No doubt this is why his kind was hunted even he had begun to betray the path laid out for him by God almighty.

Hypnos slowly knelt down and sunk his head low to the ground. "Please.... help me find her. I have loved her for centuries and I just don't know how to carry on without her. I mean no harm to humanity; I would sacrifice myself for you before I would ever hurt you. I know it's unreasonable to ask, but I've no one else to turn to." Hypnos pleaded softly. He had learned long ago that humans are not the selfish beings that his brother took them to be. Surely a sincere display of grief for a loved one lost would convince them to help. "I know there isn't much practically you can do, but I'm sure you could do something. Spread the information to other Hunters. I will reward anyone who helps me find her, and I will protect this colony with my life until she is found."

James Mitchelsten

James nodded, "I understand." what all he was able to say before the call ended. He went back to packing up his things, and finishing for that matter, before he sat down to eat leftovers and contemplate how to bring the weapons with. He really didn't want to leave them behind, and they could be useful.

William frowned. Ashley had a point. And as for Elijah. "He said he was heading to the clinic." Hendrix whirled around, eyes wide. "Brennan may have not said Mack's name, but he did say she was wounded. It's just a matter of time before--" Hendrix didn't say another word, turning and making a break in the direction of the clinic, feeling the his waistband to make sure the HK45 was stowed securely in its holster.

Eli watched as Mack made her move, diving into the hedges without hesitation. He turned back to the Hunters at the front, waiting and watching to see if any of them had spotted her. If they did, he would need to be ready to intercept them. Luckily, none had. Ensuring they were turned in the opposite direction, Elijah broke into his own sprint across the lawn, following the path that Mack's body had forcefully cleared through the hedges. He knew Ash or Will -- probably both -- would end up lecturing him for letting Mackenzie tear out her sutures in a mad dash. Speaking of which, he'd lost sight of her in the vegetation. "Mack!" he called out quietly. "Are you okay?"

The Elders would remain wary, despite Hypnos seeming sincere, it was difficult to trust being that had the potential to annihilate the small colony on a whim. "We'll do everything we can," Brendan would offer softly.  "I'll put the word out, looking for your wife.  Do you know the name of the artist she was with?  Or where she may have been last?"  Any details they could get would greatly increase their odds of finding the gods wife.

Ashley cursed inwardly as William immediately starting running for the clinic, she understood the panic, but really what had he planned for when he arrived.  What if there was a mob there already?  And if they already had Mackenzie, how was charging in going to help?  She'd chase after him, hoping neither were the case, but given how well the meeting had gone, she had doubts tonight was going to be peaceful.

The nurse would do a Mackenzie instructed, having locked the back door she waited as long as she could muster herself to do so before heading to the front door.  She'd unlock it and swing the door open, stepping out on to the step.  "They're gone.  The ones you were looking for."  She'd announce to the crowd of hunters milling on the pathway.  "Left a few minutes ago, go in a see for yourself."  She'd offer.  A couple of the hunters would, grumbling past her, into the clinic to search for the hunter they thought responsible.

Mackenzie would break through the hedge to the other side and immediately drop to her knees.  Fists curled into the lawn as she fought to quell a scream.  Agony, the sutures in her lower back had been torn free by a branch as she'd wriggled through to freedom. She could already feel the warm wet bloom of blood into the bandages she'd had the nurse wrap her in.  Eyes closed teeth clenched she was slowly regaining her composure hissing through her teeth.  She could hear Eli behind her, fighting his was through, it really wasn't a very subtle choice, but it provided cover from sight.  She'd hear him call for her, and she'd respond, quietly.  "Here."  Though she made no move to get up just yet, she needed a minute to recover.

Will forced himself to slow his pace as he approached the front of the clinic, one hand tucked surreptitiously inside his jacket to clutch the grip of the pistol. He entered the clinic, stopping just inside the threshold and listening to the Hunters milling around inside, trying to glean what information he could:

"She ain't here."

"Couldn't have gone far. We need to track her down."

Then something else caught his eye. The nurse from the previous day was standing down the corridor from him, arms crossed and face creased with worry. She looked up to lock eyes with him, a look of recognition on her face. Glancing around to make sure none of the Hunters were watching, she looked at Will and slowly inclined her head in the direction of the back door. Gone, she mouthed. Hendrix nodded his silent thanks, backing out of the clinic before any of the Hunters could spot him. He slowly removed his hand from the handgun's grip, returning to Ashley's side. "They're not there. I think they made a break for it. The house?"

Elijah narrowed his eyes at the sight of blood seeping from Mackenzie's wounds. He'd never hear the end of it. He took a knee alongside her, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Take your time," he said softly. "I don't think we were spotted." He stood up, walking to the back door of the house and trying the handle. Locked, naturally. It was hard to expect anything less from a house full of Hunters. He reached into his pocket, removing a multitool. It was Will's, who had finally managed to convince him to carry one for unexpected situations. Looked like he was right... this time. Kneeling down to examine the lock, Davenport got to work trying to pick it. He didn't want to risk breaking in or heading around the front -- not with the Hunters milling around nearby.

William was returning to Ashley, she hadn't dared go into the clinic with him, instead chose to wait out front while he checked in.  "They're not here.  I think they made a break for it.  The house?"  Ashley would not, glancing down the road way towards the house, it was unlit, and otherwise looked undisturbed.  She'd frown.  "I don't know if they've made it yet."  She'd look around at some of the hunters that remained outside, some closer to the house than she would have liked.  "But it doesn't look like any of them are giving chase, must have got away cleanly."  She'd turn to start walking down the path towards the house, calmly.  They were being identified now, though no one protested their movement, she didn't want it to look like they were worried, or searching for Mackenzie either. "Just look cool," She'd say, glancing to Will and shaking her head. "Or at least less tense than you are."

Mackenzie's pain would eventually ebb to a point within reason.  Head was clearing, she could hear voices behind them now, on the other side of the hedge, they were searching.  Really it wouldn't have been hard for them to figure out that she'd exited out the back, since there were really only two ways into that building.  She'd push herself up stifling a groan and she'd make her way to where Eli was, fiddling with the lock, moving to lean against the house and keep watch on the hedge.  She didn't need to tell him that time was off the essence here, it wouldn't take a genius to figure out they'd gone through the hedge.

Will did his best to ignore the glares they were getting as the two of them walked to the house. It was killing him not to eye his surroundings warily, watching for reaching hands and brandished weapons. The fact that Mack and Elijah hadn't gotten caught at the clinic was comforting, but as of yet they were still unaccounted for. At Ashley's suggestion, Hendrix sighed. "Sure," he remarked, a bit dryly. "I can do that." As they drew closer to the house, Will reached for the front door handle and opened it, stepping inside, hoping they'd find something pleasant waiting for them.

A bead of cold sweat ran down Elijah's forehead as he worked at the lock. It was no cheap device and honestly... he was out practice. Shamefully so. He heard the voices dangerously close behind them and all manner of expletives began running through his head. He was beginning to consider going for his karambit and making a stand when one final turn of the wrist sent the last of the tumblers clicking into place with a telltale vibration. He nodded quickly to Mackenzie, silently opening the back door and pushing it inward. He would allow her to enter first before following and locking the door behind them.

Hypnos took a moment to regain his composure and stood up clearing his throat. He needed to think. What did she say the man's name was.. " She said she was going to an artist in Japan. He name was.... Tanaka Yoritoki. He was working on some modern art masterpiece apparently, but was pushing himself too hard so she had to go and make sure he got the rest he needed." Hypnos said thinking further. " He's in Tokyo right now still working away at... whatever that's supposed to be." Hypnos said looking past the Elders as he checked on the artist. " She was definitely there recently along with.... something else."  Hypnos wasn't sure what to call what that feeling was. It was certainly not anything Divine that was for sure. He couldn't quite place the signature.

The Elders would glance at one another quietly before Brendan would speak carefully to Hypnos.  "I don't think we have reach as far as Tokyo...."  He'd offer a sympathetic smile, "We'll do what we can."  Brendan was aware that Anna and Maxwell were waiting for him, to report in on their findings, he'd excuse himself from the other Elders and Hypnos going to his advisers.

As much as William had said he'd remain calm, Ashley could feel his tension, she was nervous too, but she knew Mac could take care of herself, even injured, and certainly when it came to humans.  Otherworldly creatures Ashley would have been in a panic.  At the house she'd step in behind William, she'd call out quietly.  "Mac, you here?"  But no answer, instead only a shuffling noise from the back door, in the living room area.

Eli had given them entrance into the house and she wouldn't hesitate, knowing it wouldn't be much longer before people were coming through the yard, inside she was immediately closing the blinds at the back window, prevent anyone from looking in, while Eli closed and locked the door.  She heard movement at the front of the house and went still, waiting.  Ashley came down the hall then and Mac sighed in relief.  "Your okay."  Mac would whisper, when she hadn't arrived with Eli, and he'd said nothing about Ashley she only assumed Eli was keeping something from her, needing her focused on the task at hand.
