Even as Lyn toppled on the platform, wholly unprepared for the sudden hug attack, Isabelle nevertheless was quickly enveloped within Lyn’s arms as she sunk into the young lord’s embrace. A ruffled head of fur and a warm greeting from a dear friend had never felt so wonderful before, and for just an instant, the little secretary felt all her troubles melt away. Yet, when Isabelle looked up to face Lyn, she could feel the other’s eyes take in her uncharacteristically tousled appearance, and she was swiftly grounded back to reality. She had an awful amount of explaining to do, didn’t she?

Thankfully Lyn held her tongue as Isabelle released from their hug, all questions Isabelle assumed she’d have surely tucked away for later. A brief relief, although Isabelle could still feel the tiniest bit of dread fester in the back of her mind, the knowledge that she couldn’t put it off weighing heavy.

For now a set of little yellow paws simply combed through ruffled hair, taking the time to groom her appearance as she and Lyn awaited Roxas’ arrival. Lyn seemed to focus her sights on the boy as he traversed past the battlefield, Isabelle purposefully averted her eyes. The sounds of the ongoing warzone were already enough to sober the secretary’s joy; she didn’t think she could take any further reminders of Sephiroth’s continued rampage.

It wouldn’t take long for Roxas to break away from the soldiers surrounding and launch himself toward the two, eventually landing upon a mushroom nearby.

“Roxas!”

Her brows kneaded with concern as she took note of the boy’s nauseated expression, but soon enough the group was wrapped up in a wave of introductions, saving no time for her to mention it. Isabelle stood by as the two exchanged their brief hello’s, and while she’d certainly taken notice of Roxas’ aversion towards outright calling her a friend, Isabelle didn’t comment on it, simply smiling and nodding with his words. Everyone had their own standards for what they considered to be friends, and while she and any of the others back home were the sort to take one look at a newcomer and declare them to be a new pal, she’d already been made well aware that others in the Smash Realm might not be as eager for a variety of reasons. Plus, just because he didn’t consider her a friend now didn’t mean that he wouldn’t eventually come around to it.

Once Roxas supplied his name to the other, Isabelle realized that Lyn hadn’t actually shared her’s yet, so the little secretary would pop in and add.

“And Roxas, this is Lyndis, though we all call her Lyn for short. Let’s all make sure to do our best.”

With that, and after a brief exchange of words between Lyn and the military group who’d ‘escorted’ her, the three were officially in the clear to make their way out of there. Roxas and Lyn both expressed their disappointments in being unable to help in the battle, but amongst the group there was the solemn reality that in the states each of the three were in, they’d have little chance in combating the one winged angel. Roxas’ own admission of his weakened magic simply solidified that fact.

“What could they have used to do that sort of thing?”

Isabelle pondered to herself. Every new thing she learned about what the militia had up their sleeves was only all the more concerning. She’d spare a brief glance at the animalistic army men, their transformed appearances sending a shiver down her spine.

It eerily reminded her of the animal testing facility they’d locked her in, but Isabelle was certainly not prepared to reckon with any of those implications.

“...To think an organization like them has been in the realm this whole time”

She didn’t want to deny the good(?) they’d done for her, but the sooner they got away from that group, the better.

Speaking of, they were about ready to continue on to Console City. As Roxas explained the plan to Lyn, Isabelle nodded along, confirming his words and elaborating some more on them.

“I especially want to try and figure out where all the others are, and if they made it to the reunion. The only fighter I’ve encountered so far has been…well”

She winced.

“-So I’d like to figure out if anyone else made it to the reunion or they also ended up off course like us. And, at a place like Console City I bet we’d be able to get a better picture on what’s been going on in the realm since we last visited.”

Her thoughts drifted towards the person who’d been able to match Sephiroth’s might.

“There’s also a person I want to see if I can learn more about. Someone named…”

Isabelle furrowed her brows as a thought bubble manifested above her head.

“Ah, what was it again…Lunaris?”

She nodded,

“Yes, Lunaris, that’s it. Well, apparently he was someone strong enough to face Sephiroth all on his own, and that’s the sort of person that the hands would probably have taken notice of. Admittedly it’s a bit of a stretch, but maybe they could be a clue in figuring out what’s going on? But getting in contact with our friends is definitely our number one goal! After all, Roxas also happens to be looking for Sora as well!”

1725331830897.png

It wouldn’t take long for the three to begin making their way over to a set of mushroomy platforms nearby. Roxas demonstrated their bounciness to the girl and dog, although Isabelle was already well familiar with this breed of shrooms. Still, she’d make sure to clap for Roxas as he gently hovered back down. Looks like it was her turn now.

Isabelle stood back up and faced her two friends with a smile as she made her way to the edge of the cliff. There’d be a brief moment where she’d look down towards the mushroom below, but soon enough the little Shih Tsu went and hopped right off the cliff, bouncing off the shroom with a loud ‘boing!’ as she launched herself upwards.

Mid air, Isabelle hastily rummaged through the pockets of her skirt and, quite miraculously, somehow managed to pull out two bunny shaped balloons tied to an entire swing seat. This utter abuse of physics weighed little on Isabelle’s mind as she simply plopped herself right onto the seat and gently floated down to join Roxas on the other side of the cliff.

“Ah! Before I forget…I’m not sure if this would help with your magic but-”

Isabelle gently raised the white keyblade towards him, its handle extended out for the boy to clasp.

“Thank you for lending me your Keyblade. I know it must be a very important item to you, so I’m honored you’d trust it with me”

In the end, she hadn’t actually used it in their encounter with Sephiroth, but even the simply matter of him giving it to her for such a use was certainly a momentous show of trust in of itself…At least that’s what she assumed if Sora’s keyblade was anything to go by.

Everything seemed to be figured out, or well their path was in the least. There were still other problems which hadn't been solved such as the whereabouts of Toon Link or even Mythra's current state, though the latter was an issue only Pyra could resolve and she didn't plan on pushing it. It was best to let her other half be even if it would be useful to have her as the began their journey for the Stadium. If there was some kind of danger waiting for them, she knew her own strength likely wouldn't be enough. She was but a small fraction of the Aegis's power.

Those thoughts dampened her own mood, though she did her best to avoid showing it. She had to stick to the resolve she had found and not waver even if she felt like it. There was no good that would come out of putting herself down. Besides when the time came, Mythra would return. There was no doubt in her mind of that. Despite how she acted, Mythra had a strong sense to protect. Pyra found that endearing though kept that to herself.

Focusing herself, the Aegis followed Pit out of the inn. They didn't even get a step out the door before being greeted by rows of battle ready Waddle Dees. The sight brought a smile to Pyra's lips as she let a giggle slip between them. She would have never expected them to be so eager to join them, but it was oddly adorable. That was yet another thing she'd keep to herself. No warrior wanted to be called cute after all and she didn't want to break their determination with it. Instead, she kept herself quiet and let Pit take the lead on it all. She wasn't particularly versed in how to command an army, but he clear knew how to take charge.

Her attention remained on the group as the angel spoke to them and watched as he dismissed them after saying they would call upon them if needed. How exactly they would do such a thing, she was unsure of, but they didn't seem to put much thought into questioning it. It was better that way. They didn't need to know it might be unlikely that they would call upon them for help, or at least that was how she felt. She would hate to be guiding them into a danger they might not come back from.

That grim thought hung over her head for only a brief moment as Pyra heard Pit call out to her and Lana. Giving a curt bow towards the mayor, she took her leave after her companion, figuring it was best not to agree to any kind of vacation. There was no telling what would happen and she didn't want to raise his hopes that they might return.

Silence hung over the Aegis as she trailed behind Pit and she quietly listened to his singing, though she could make no sense of why he was singing such a thing. Even if she didn't understand it, he at least sounded cheery. That was enough to put her at ease, though she remained quiet, deciding it was best not to interrupt.

Things were looking rather fruitless for Roxanne as she couldn't help but watch the final note aimlessly flying off into the distance... only for it to be rescued by fast paws courtesy of a Thievul. An ever so familiar Thievul, that of Roxanne's superior, Alexandria. Turning upon hearing the sound of her voice, Roxanne looked just a touch more relieved that a familiar face was present and had done more than enough to aid in her dire mishap.

"Ah, Alexandria...! I honestly didn't expect you to see you out of the library so early... thank you so much for the help."
Roxanne replied, lowering her head into a small bow before she continued.
"You're right, I really should have grabbed a binder and put these through a hole puncher beforehand... but these notes couldn't wait for that."

She was just about ready to reach for the final page of notes that she needed, the important reading material almost in her grasp... until Alexandria's deft hands moved them away from Roxanne's reach, light shock gripping the librarian's assistant in the face as Roxanne grabbed nothing but thin air.

"Ah!"
It didn't take a genius to know that Alexandria wanted something from Roxanne in return, and that alone caused her to pout a little. She released a sigh, before she took a step back and continued to speak.
"I'm sorry that I left unannounced, Alexandria... They were notes for my geology studies that I made, about the various rock and ore deposits one can find within the land. I've been doing studying of my own in my free time and it's been fun enough but... it's also dear to me that I have that final note, please?"

fa42gsqvqao4ibx-png.1182556
Alexandria’s emerald eyes sparkled with amusement as she held the final note just out of Roxanne’s reach, her smile warm yet playful. With the way she twirled the page between her fingers, it was clear she was in no rush to hand it over.

"Roxanne, dear," she began in her usual lilting tone, "you know I don’t mind if you slip away for personal research, but I can’t help but wonder why you feel the need to rush through something as important as geology." Her hand moved gracefully, flipping the note in the air with a casual flick of her wrist. Swipes, the Thievul, sat by her side, watching with a quiet, mischievous gleam in his eyes.

Alexandria continued, her voice softening but still holding a hint of playful chastisement. "You’re brilliant, and your passion for learning is admirable. But you also have to remember that knowledge—especially something as ancient and steady as rocks—requires patience. Just like the stones themselves, learning should be methodical and steady, not rushed."

She paused, watching Roxanne with her characteristic wisdom before adding, "I understand your excitement, truly I do, but rushing through things often leaves cracks in even the sturdiest of foundations. Now, before I return this to you," she said, raising the note teasingly, "I need you to promise me that you'll slow down, just a little. Focus on enjoying the process rather than racing towards the end. After all, what good is a mountain if you don't appreciate every stone along the way?"

Alexandria held out the note, still just out of reach but now with a warm smile. "So, do we have an agreement?"

Ike
The Radiant Hero

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Once the shard inside of Toon Link's box had been revealed to the world, a sort of clammy, tingly feeling sent chills down Ike's spine. He took a step back, feeling unnerved by the aura that this artifact possessed. But that was easily put aside when Cranky shut the box closed and hid it from view.

Ike listened to Cranky go on about their heads being soft and FAQ's (Daisy shared some sentiments with Ike it seemed- he didn't know what the old Kong was waffling about either), but his attention was really piqued at the explanation as to what that bizarre shard was.

So it was an artifact of Crazy Hand's? That explained the strange power it had over them all. The mercenary peeked at the Crystal Coconut once more, and more hazy images floated to the surface. Ike stood silently, watching them all with his arms folded and a serious expression on his face. Their main goal was to collect more of these rocks, it seemed.

The hero scoffed quietly under his breath. If he could kill the Black Knight and Ashnard as well as defeat the goddess of order herself, then this was sure to be quite simple, right?

Watching as princess and Pokemon excited the cabin, the merc decided to do the same. He gestured for Toon Link to follow. "Thanks for the tips, Cranky. C'mon, Toon Link, let's get moving."

Once the four were outside of the cabin, Daisy was the first to speak. She had turned to Ike and asked what their next move should be. The radiant hero scratched his head and thought for a second, planting Ragnell's tip into the ground as he thought.

He had no idea where they were, nor where all the other fighters could be, if they were even in the Smash Realm. However, there was one thing he was acutely aware of- that they were definitely in the Subspace area of the Realm. And if that were to be the case, then their best bet was to try and make it to the Stadium. That is where the Smash Brothers congregated at the beginning of each tournament, so that seemed like a good start, at the very least.

After taking a quick look around at their surroundings, Ike said finally, "We're heading to the Stadium. From what I can tell, we travel East. If you follow me or you don't, that is up to you to decide."

With that candid statement, he put his index finger in his mouth, then raised it in the air. The gentle breeze blowing on his finger told him where he was supposed to go, and so he swung his sword over his shoulder again and began walking Eastward.

Back at the military base, the atmosphere was thick with tension and frustration. Screens displayed multiple feeds from the mushroom forest, showing the aftermath of Sephiroth’s massacre. The live feed was a blur of blood-soaked ground, mangled bodies, and the smoldering remains of their fallen comrades. For those watching, it was a brutal and humbling reminder of just how unstoppable the legendary warrior had become.

The Command Center, a massive room lined with advanced technology and bustling with personnel, was eerily silent. Everyone was either transfixed by the unfolding chaos or paralyzed by the weight of their failure. Technicians scrambled to stabilize data streams and track Sephiroth’s movements, but there was no ignoring the grim reality on display.

In the center of the room, standing before a massive holographic map of the area, was Dr. Vallen Karst, the Head Director of the base’s experimental division. His usually composed demeanor was cracking. His fingers drummed against the console in agitation, his pale blue eyes narrowed into slits as he stared at the feed of Sephiroth flying off into the distance, leaving nothing but destruction in his wake. The overhead lights glinted off his immaculate white lab coat, but his face was flushed with frustration, and the thin sheen of sweat on his brow betrayed the growing anxiety in the room.

Behind him, a team of scientists and military brass exchanged nervous glances. Everyone could feel it—the boiling rage simmering beneath Karst’s composed exterior. He slammed his fist down on the console with enough force to send a sharp crack through the room. The few technicians closest to him flinched visibly.

“Another team. Gone,” Karst hissed through clenched teeth, glaring at the screens as if he could will the battle’s outcome to change. His voice was sharp, dripping with venomous frustration. “The best soldiers we had. Our most advanced assets—turned into nothing more than fodder.” He spat the word as if it was poison on his tongue.

A general, standing near the console, adjusted his hat nervously. “Director, the Jenoids were never guaranteed to—”

Karst whirled on him, his eyes ablaze with fury. “Guaranteed?” He took a step closer, looming over the general like a vengeful spirit. “I don’t need guarantees, I need results! We’ve cracked his genetic code, Commander! We’ve figured out how to break down the very cells that make Sephiroth who he is, and yet we still fail! How is that possible?!”

The commander opened his mouth to respond, but Karst cut him off, pacing back and forth like a caged animal. “We’ve studied every aspect of him. Every fight, every battle he’s been in, every time he’s been recorded in this realm or the next. And still—still—he manages to push through our countermeasures. I had him blinded! His mana cut off! We had him pinned with five Jenoids, each specifically engineered to handle the likes of him, and it’s still not enough.”

Karst slammed both hands down on the console, staring at the frozen frame of Sephiroth laughing amidst the bodies of the fallen. His knuckles turned white from the pressure. “We need more. More resources. More time. And definitely more soldiers who are... replaceable.” His lips curled into a sneer. “This is no longer a battle of man against man. It’s science against an anomaly. An aberration.”

The room was quiet for a moment before one of the lead scientists, Dr. Renier, stepped forward, his voice shaky but attempting to placate the furious Director. “Dr. Karst, if I may suggest… perhaps we can pivot our focus to the clones. We’ve had... some success with them, though incomplete. We could find a way to—”

Karst rounded on him, his gaze piercing. “The clones?” His voice dripped with contempt. “The clones have been nothing but failures. Flawed, incomplete, barely stable. A poor man’s Sephiroth. They are cannon fodder at best, instruments of control if we were lucky enough to perfect them, but control has evaded us at every turn.”

Renier swallowed, his hand trembling slightly as he pressed forward. “Yes, but with the data from the Jenoids, we could refine the clones. If we combine the two—Jenoid physiology with the genetic structure of the clones—we could create something... stronger. More stable. Maybe even... controllable.”

Karst paused, considering for a moment. The room was silent, the tension hanging thick in the air. His eyes flickered with something close to interest, but his lips pressed into a thin line.

“And what of Sephiroth?” Karst asked coldly, straightening and fixing Renier with a calculating stare. “Do you believe such a hybrid would stand a chance against him?”

Renier hesitated, knowing that to claim otherwise would be professional suicide. “It’s... possible. If we make the necessary adjustments. We have his genetic template—his cells. It’s just a matter of replicating the correct markers while maintaining control over the hybrid form.”

Karst exhaled sharply through his nose, his frustration momentarily tempered by the possibility. “Then do it,” he ordered with finality. “We don’t have the luxury of time, nor the margin for error. Every minute we waste allows Sephiroth to gather strength and plan his next move. He knows we’ve violated his genetic code, and that makes him more dangerous than ever. He’s vindictive. He will come back.”

The commander finally found his voice, stepping forward to address Karst cautiously. “Director, what are your orders for the military? We’ve suffered heavy losses, and morale is low. What if he comes back sooner than expected?”

Karst turned to face the commander, his eyes cold and hard. “Then we make sure he doesn’t live long enough to gloat. Deploy every available resource! I want the base on full lockdown! We will not be caught unprepared again!”

“And the clones?” the commander asked.

“Accelerate their development,” Karst snapped, his eyes gleaming with determination. “And make no mistake, Commander—if Sephiroth returns before we are ready, this base will not fall without a fight. I don’t care how many men or resources it takes.”

With those words, Karst turned back to the console, his hands gripping the edges tightly. The room began to buzz with new activity as the orders filtered down. Technicians scrambled to initiate base lockdown protocols, and scientists began furiously reviewing the genetic data of both the Jenoids and the clones.

As the tension mounted in the command center, Dr. Vallen Karst's frustration simmered visibly, the silence in the room heavy and oppressive. The holographic screens continued to flicker with the nightmarish footage of Sephiroth’s massacre, a stark reminder of their failure to control the situation. Around him, the scientists and tactical advisors shifted nervously, unsure of how to break the silence, knowing that nothing short of a miracle would satisfy the enraged Head Director.

The doors at the far end of the room hissed open, and the figure that stepped in seemed almost to exude an aura of cold, detached calm, in direct contrast to the frantic energy of the base. Dressed in a sleek, all-white uniform with his silver hair cascading over one side of his face, Whindam Leonov, a prototype Sephiroth clone, strode into the command center. His expression was unreadable, his pale eyes scanning the scene before him, taking in the aftermath of the battle with a distant detachment.

d9vybpq-d7ec49ae-56bb-427b-a19b-1f7fcae252fb.png
Karst’s gaze snapped to Leonov, and for a moment, his fury wavered, replaced by a calculating gleam. Whindam Leonov was a strange, enigmatic presence in the base—an experiment in himself. While not a perfect replica of Sephiroth, Leonov carried many of the same genetic markers, including the potential for power, though his control over his abilities was still under scrutiny.

"Whindam," Karst began, his voice low but carrying an edge of impatience. "What is it? I assume you’ve come with something useful."

Leonov took his place beside Karst, hands behind his back, posture straight and rigid. His eyes flicked to the mangled footage of the battlefield, focusing briefly on the bodies of the fallen Jenoids. His expression remained impassive.

"Director," Leonov began, his voice quiet, but with a certain gravitas that demanded attention. "Our current methods, while bold, are… insufficient, as you’ve seen. The Jenoids were always a stopgap measure. The key to defeating Sephiroth will not be found in mimicking his DNA alone."

Karst’s eyes narrowed. "Then what do you propose, Leonov? What would you suggest we do now, when we’re running out of options?"

Leonov glanced at Karst, his face still unreadable. "We pivot. We use the data we've gathered from Subject DS-0320-20. His DNA was unique. Hardened through years of exposure to ethereal forces and the destructive energies of a different realm. That genetic data, when combined with our existing research on Sephiroth, can be synthesized into something more than a mere countermeasure. We can create an Anti-Sephiroth weapon."

For the first time in the conversation, Karst looked genuinely interested. He straightened, considering Leonov’s words carefully. "You're suggesting we combine the genetics of Sephiroth and Doom Slayer into a new weapon?"

Leonov nodded, his expression never wavering. "Precisely. Sephiroth is an anomaly. You won’t beat him by using half-measures or imitations. You need something new, something different—an entity or weapon that can face him head-on without the same weaknesses as the Jenoids."

Karst took a deep breath, the wheels in his mind turning rapidly. The concept was bold—combining the resilience and power of Subject DS-0320-20 genetic material with Sephiroth’s unique abilities could indeed result in a devastating new creation. But time was not on their side. It would take weeks, maybe months, to properly synthesize and test such a weapon.

"How long would this take?" Karst asked, his tone shifting from furious to inquisitive.

"Time depends on how aggressively we push the process," Leonov replied. "Several weeks, at the least, but we can accelerate the cloning and testing phases. However, there's another concern. Sephiroth is not idle. He is, even now, likely formulating his next move. We need a way to keep him at bay while we prepare."

Karst’s face twisted in thought, his mind racing. Leonov, seeing his hesitation, continued. "We can’t afford to leave him unchallenged for that long, Director. If Sephiroth is allowed to gather more strength, he could disrupt everything before we’re ready."

Karst cursed under his breath. They were in a delicate position, and every second they allowed Sephiroth to act freely was another step closer to total disaster. But Leonov’s suggestion had merit—it was bold, and most importantly, it was rooted in data they had already collected.

"We need to delay him," Leonov said, his voice firm. "We can lure him into a confrontation, but we won’t engage him directly. Not yet. We create diversions, force him to chase shadows. By the time he realizes what we’re doing, it’ll be too late."

Karst’s lips curled into a small, calculating smile. "Yes… keep him distracted while we finish the real weapon." He turned back to the holographic display, eyeing the footage of the still-burning battlefield. "What would you suggest we use as bait?"

Leonov glanced at the screen, his cold eyes narrowing slightly. "The clones. We send clones into his path—imperfect ones. Their purpose will not be to win, but to confuse him, to buy us time. If he believes the clones are part of a greater strategy, he’ll divert his attention towards them. It’s a psychological game as much as it is a physical one. We draw him out, keep him guessing."

Karst considered this. The clones were expendable, and their flawed nature would make them unpredictable to Sephiroth. The strategy had merit. "And what of the Subject DS-0320-20’s DNA?" Karst asked, glancing at Leonov. "You’re confident we can merge it with Sephiroth’s?"

Leonov’s expression remained impassive, but there was a cold certainty in his voice. "Yes. It will take time, but the resulting entity will be like nothing Sephiroth has faced before. The power of a warrior designed to destroy ethereal threats, combined with the essence of Sephiroth himself. It may be our best hope of neutralizing him."

Karst nodded, his anger now fully replaced with determination. "Very well. Begin preparations. I want the cloning process accelerated immediately, and I want our best geneticists working on the Anti-Sephiroth project."

Leonov gave a curt nod before turning on his heel, ready to oversee the next steps of the operation. As he walked away, Karst’s voice rang out once more.

"One more thing, Leonov," Karst called, his tone slightly softer, though still edged with authority. "If this weapon works… if we create this Anti-Sephiroth… what will we do with you?"

Leonov paused, his back still turned to Karst. For a moment, there was silence, the question hanging in the air like a heavy weight. Then, without turning, Leonov replied, his voice as cold and calm as ever.

"I was made for a purpose, Director. If I am no longer needed when this is over, then you can decide my fate."

With that, Whindam Leonov exited the command center, leaving Karst and his team to continue the grim preparations for the next phase of their war against Sephiroth. Karst watched him go, a small frown pulling at his lips. This weapon, this new entity—would it be their salvation? Or would it become another uncontrollable force, just like the one they now sought to destroy?

One thing was certain: the clock was ticking, and their enemy was not one to sit idly by. They had to act swiftly, or they risked being swept away by the very storm they had set into motion.

"I understand," Layton said in response to Byleth's warning against wielding his sword again. The Professor was naturally curious, but he trusted Byleth's word that he will explain things later. Now certainly wasn't the time. "I suppose I was over-eager to return the kindness you have shown Luke and myself."

Layton observed quietly as Byleth treated a soldier's wounds. Whether it was truly magic or something else, it was a handy ability to be sure! He then looked to Zelda again. In all of his adventures, he was certain he had never seen a woman of such beauty and refinement! She claimed herself a ruler and the general of an army. Layton did not doubt that; he knew at first glance that she was a lady any man would eagerly lay down his life for. Seeing her shame and desperation, the Professor stepped forward, a smile on his simple features and his voice soft-spoken and reassuring.

"But of course. It will be my pleasure to assist you in any way that I can. After all, helping a lady in need is the duty of every true gentleman." Layton held the brim of his hat and bobbed it politely. "I am Professor Hershel Layton. To whom do I have the pleasure of speaking, my lady?"

After introductions were made, Layton's face became serious as he went down to business. "It would seem we find ourselves in a similar predicament, Lady Zelda, though the circumstances under which we arrived here are different. I was brought to this world through a letter from an anonymous sender requesting that I seek out these 'Pillars of Creation and Destruction.' I don't suppose any of this sounds familiar to you, madam?"

Layton then addressed Byleth. "Professor Byleth, for their safety I had sent Luke, Sora, and Pichu away. I believe I saw them heading east. We may be able to use the map to determine their location."

Odessa stirred and groaned softly as Captain Falcon lifted her from the ground. Her body was one big mass of pain. She opened her eyes and, believing herself to be in danger, struggled feebly in Captain Falcon's arms until the racer shot off like a bullet, in which she instinctively tensed up to endure the sudden rush.

More violently twisting vines erupted from the ice cold waters in pursuit of the racer, priestess, and moogle. All the stillness and silence of the Sorrowfen broke as a gargantuan green mass of writhing tentacles burst from the watery depths, sending large waves of water everywhere. The creature's grotesque maw of sharp teeth parted as it unleashed its roar.

This had to be the Demon Tree the Kokiri feared so much: a Malboro!

Keeping Captain Falcon in its sight, the Malboro took a deep breath then exhaled horrible, putrid fumes that turned the dreary mists of the Sorrowfen a sickly green. This was the Malboro's signature move, Bad Breath!

"D-don't get caught in that monster's breath," Odessa warned, her voice weak and cracking from pain, "It's poison..."

That's definitely not going to happen now!

His thoughts went to the strange crystal shard he had taken from the Ghost Ship. According to Cranky, it was one of the Pillars. More specifically, the Pillar of Destruction: Fear. That would definitely explain the eerie feeling it gave everyone who came near it, and why it was on a Ghost Ship.

Toon Link's eyes widened as he was struck with an epiphany.

"Hey!"

Toon Link ran up to Ike and tugged on his cape to get his attention. The Hylian began retelling his story to the mercenary, princess, and Pokemon of how he, Pit, and Pyra and Mythra wound up on a beach far from the Stadium, to their getting shanghaied onto a Kremling pirate ship, their exploration of the dreaded Ghost Ship, and their discovery of the Pillar of Fear. Toon Link then reached into his inventory and held out a piece of parchment. Written on it was the riddle the ghost captain of the haunted ship had passed on to the Smash Brothers.

"Fear haunts the night sea,
Sorrow rains eternally,
Anger erupts in fire and ash,
Ego gazes upward to the stars vast,
Death's shrill cry chills the land,
All a finger on Madness's hand."

Fear, Sorrow, Anger, Ego, and Death are the Pillars of Destruction, as stated by Cranky Kong; "Madness's hand" had to be a reference to Crazy Hand, and Toon Link possessed the Pillar of Fear, which he obtained from the Ghost Ship. The riddle is about the Pillars of Destruction!

Toon Link turned his gaze to the beach. He wasn't worried about Pit, Pyra and Mythra as they were very capable fighters, but he wanted to reunite with them. He was certain they weren't too far away. Surely it was worth a try to find them? Toon Link waved at K. Lumsy, who was happy to help. The massive Kremling lowered a hand and Toon Link climbed on, letting out a yelp and losing his balance as K. Lumsy raised his hand into the air. Toon Link hopped back onto his feet and cupped his hands to his mouth.

"'Hoooooooooooy! 'HOOOOOOOOOOOY!"

Toon Link took out his sister's telescope and peered through it. All he could see where the tops of palm trees and the sea.

K. Lumsy safely returned Toon Link to the ground and the boy looked up at the other Super Smash Brothers, a disappointed frown on his face. Perhaps it would be best to head for the Stadium as Ike suggested. That was where they were going before Toon Link was separated from Pit, Pyra and Mythra, and that may be their best chance at finding each other again.

Mog trembled in fear as he faced a very familiar foe. "A Malboro,Kupo? " He and his allies faced such creatures in the past. "Even though if I'm not too sure if she can be trusted, she's right about the Malboro, Kupo!" Mog warned the Captain. " It's breath is poisonous! We'll have to be cautious Kupo!"

"Chaos Spear!" Energy spears were sent toward the creature. Shadow appeared near his allies. "Friend Shadow, you're alive Kupo, but where is friend Yoshi?" He asked worried.
"Our priority right now is to destroy this creature." Shadow replied, ignoring Mog's question. He still felt bad about failing to rescue Yoshi.
"But friend Yoshi?" Mog asked.

F-Zero_-_Captain_Falcon_as_seen_in_F-Zero_GX_and_F-Zero_AX (1).pngCaptain Falcon glanced back at the monstrous Malboro, its vile breath swirling menacingly. "So this must be the thing that's been giving the Kokiri grief," Odessa’s weak warning and Mog’s fearful cry were clear: this creature was a serious threat.

“Got it,” Falcon shouted over the din, his voice resolute despite the situation. He takes his scarf from around his neck and whips it the mud of it. The pilot them wraps it around his mouth and nose “This oughta help! Now to keep you out of its range!”

He carefully set Odessa down in a safe spot, making sure she was shielded from the Malboro’s noxious fumes. "Now you stay here and don't go anywhere. This shouldn't take us too long."

“Alrighty, boys!”
he called out, rubbing his hands together as he turned to face the Malboro across the putrid mist it put between itself and them. “Time to give this bush a much-needed trim.”

Without wasting a moment, Falcon charged toward the Malboro, his eyes locked on the beast as it roared and belched its toxic breath. He leaped into the air, ready to strike. “FALCON KICK!” he roared, his leg engulfed in fiery energy as he descended towards the Malboro.

As he flew off to the distance the essence’s auras wafted to his nose, it’s risky to gamble everything on an assumption. He’s willing to give it all to rejuvenating his body as well as Jenova’s. After culling the squad, it’s certainly not the first nor the last he’ll see of them. Sephiroth is onto them cracking his genetic code, they proved troublesome. Although the effects of their anti weapons were temporary, he doesn’t want to pay for his folly next time. Seeking answers laid in the planet’s essence that may or may not bear similarities to Gaia’s Life Stream, it’s a gamble worth banking on.

Landing momentarily to gain his bearings, being attuned to the supernatural auras his six senses detected there’s more of the military coming for his throat. “ They certainly didn’t waste time chasing after me.” He chuckled, darkly, doubting it’s going to be entertaining anyone soon. Craving a battle worth remembering, someone who can step up to challenge him, he craves someone who can go toe to toe with him. A person who provides a challenge for his caliber of strength, battle and magic prowess. While they provide a much needed entertainment. His gloved hand patted his midsection, sort of feeling the after effects of his mana being suppressed.

And, he feels eerily calm though something didn’t feel right to him. The swordsman wordlessly kept going knowing he’ll meet them soon. Flying against the wind, he tried putting distance as much as he could. How he wants to tie the loose ends of his mission then make his come back on an ominous scale, whatever it may be. He kept going regardless of his stream of thoughts, or that weight of something going in the underbelly of the military.

She nods with a sigh, her lips curved into a smile. Trusting in Joker’s word the sense he’s a good leader. Ann and Ren are like the older siblings she could ever ask for; how from then and there, Paula decided on seeing this mission through at Joker’s side. Now, with the poem deciphered stanza by stanza, it's a matter of reuniting with the scattered smash fighters to band together to fight Lunaris and subsequently Sephiroth, in that tall order. After taking a closer look at the poem there’s new faces and unfamiliar ones mentioned in the poem. She didn’t know how many Links are there, which sounds like a complicated timeline to her. She wonders if she exists in another plane, that sounds too complex to think of now. Whatever it may be, the poem is complete. And, they have a clear objective now. Their next destination is Luminose City. “ I don’t have any ideas or anything to add? Mmm.. should we prepare for our trip to Luminose city?” She frowns, prepared to fight unless Ren has other ideas.

Byleth was silent as he listened to Zelda's account of what had brought her to this place. It was certainly unique. An enemy using the Smash Realm as a trap... such a plot sent up red flags left and right, yet the professor couldn't piece together why someone would do such a thing. Maybe it had to do with this new ruler of the realm, then again what would someone like that want with a woman like this? He could understand if they targeted one of the Smash Bros, but to drag someone completely unrelated to it all in felt bizarre and far more personal. Perhaps she had ties to the one Layton had been warned about. It was plausible, but jumping to conclusions haphazardly would get him nowhere. His own speculations were without any solid proof, thus there was no point dwelling on them.

He prepared himself to reply to the woman, but quickly resigned himself to silence as Layton beat him to the punch. His gaze shifted towards the older gentleman and he quirked a brow at his words. He truly did not understand the other's belief of "being a gentleman" in situations like this. Maybe it was because he himself had no experience with doing such. The life of a mercenary didn't offer much room for gentlemanly acts. He only knew how to show acts of mercy, if that could even be seen in the same vein. He doubted it.

His lips pursed at the thought, but before his mind could dwell on it for too much longer, he was pulled back as introductions were thrown out. Layton's came as no surprise, however, the name the woman offered was one all too familiar. His earlier thought might have been right on. How should he approach such a thing? If this was a Zelda, could it be the one he knew? Again, Byleth's focus shifted and sharp, green orbs returned to the princess as he waded through his own thoughts. Testing the waters was for the better. Even if she might not recognize him as he was, perhaps she would recall his name.

"I'm Byleth... Professor Byleth Eisner," he offered as he pushed himself back up to his full height and brushed some of the dirt off his robes. It hardly made a difference though. They had been sullied from battle. White was the worse decision Rhea and Seteth could have made for his outfit, but that was the least of his worries. A few blood and dirt stains wasn't going to slow him down. "We will help you how we can, but as the Professor stated, we do have our focus on the matters of these Pillars and the problems plaguing these lands. While the Professor was specifically requested for via a letter, I am among a group expected to protect this world, thus it is only natural I keep my focus there. If your goals end up overlapping with ours then all the better, I suppose."

They didn't need another Lucina situation happening. At the thought of that though, Byleth let his eyes flicker around the now calm battlefield and noted that his fellow Smash Bros were no longer present. Layton spoke up on the whereabouts of Sora and Pichu, but that didn't account for the other two. It wasn't like Robin nor Chrom to turn tail. Where had they gone then. The professor's brows furrowed at the thought as he slowly walked back towards his sword to draw it from where he had planted it.

"You know you didn't need to send Sora off. He's far more capable than that kiddish smile of his makes him look," Byleth spoke as his fingers curled around the hilt of his blade and he yanked it from the dirt. "His magic likely surpasses my own." He supposed it would only make sense to send him off to assure the safety of the other two though. Pichu, while capable in his own right, did have a tendency of overdoing it and hurting himself, while Luke hardly seemed like a fighter. He had a bit of a scrappy edge to him from the little time Byleth had been around him, but it was nothing compared to what the other two. Having Sora around would at least balance the things out, despite his initial thoughts. "But I understand. He can easily protect the three of them if danger should befall them while escaping this mess."

A sigh slipped from his lips as he finished speaking. The final part of Layton's statement was more troubling than him sending the kids off. There were several issues with it. For one, the map was still in Sora's possession. The next was Byleth's own lack of knowledge of this area of the world. His time had never brought him to these lands on his last visit. And to top it off, they still had the problem of the soldiers. He couldn't consciously leave them behind in the state they were in, but taking them with would only be a hindrance. It was quite a conundrum.

Filing his fingers through messy green locks, Byleth lowered his head as he sheathed his blade at his hip. "I wish it were ea-"

He begun to speak, but almost immediately stopped as he felt a hand on his shoulder and his eyes shot open while his grip tightened on the hilt of his sword.

"Relax, relax Professor! Is that how you're going to greet me even though we talked earlier!"

Byleth froze as the voice registered with him. It was Anna. After the events earlier, he thought she had hightailed it out of this place without much of a goodbye, but it seemed he had been wrong. What purpose did she have to reveal herself now? Where had she even gone before? Those questions plagued his mind, but he said nothing as he stared at the merchant, waiting for her to go on.

"Oh don't give me that cold look, Professor! I helped you out in a pinch now haven't I? Without my stall you would have been doomed to fight alone and would have been without that map!" she said cheerily as she wrapped an arm around Byleth and grinned. "You owe me for those, by the way."

The professor grunted at her words and she laughed, waving off his displeasure. "Anna..."

"Fine....! They're on the house this once. I guess I can act out of the goodness of my heart this once. I'll even throw in a real bargain for you!" Anna exclaimed before pointing to the soldiers as she released Byleth. "I'll make sure these soldiers get back to Ylisse where they belong. No need to thank me. It's an easy job after all. They must have come through some Outerrealm portal nearby cuz one opened up during that little fight. Saw the Exalt and tactician get sucked right in! I assume it went right back to their homeland so getting these men back should be no problem!"

"I suppose that is one problem off our shoulders," Byleth murmured. "We can go searching eastward without worrying of these men, but Professor, we are without a map."

Cream and Cheese wandered in the endless skies. Cheese looked more worried then her rabbit friend. Not only had they lost track of Dark Pit,but they were lost as well.

"Do not worry Cheese,I'm sure we'll find our way." She didn't show it,but she was worried too. They were lost in a world that was not their own. They were problebly very found from their newfound allies.

The best course of action for now would be to land on solid ground and figure out the curent location. Cream did just that. She made her slow decent toward land along with Cheese. The location she slowly decended into seemed to be a swamp. As she got a good look of the ground, Cream noticed a few figures facing a scary monster, a man wearing a colorful costume, a cute creature that resembled a Chao but wasn't one and...The third figure was familiar to Cream.

"Mr Shadow?" She was so happy to see a familiar figure. Ignoring the dangers ahead, Cream flew to Shadow and his allied, followed by a panicking Cheese.

Shadow's POV
Still facing the enemy, Shadow noticed the familiar figure flying toward him.
"You gonns be kidding me?" He muttered. "What's wrong Kupo?" Mog asked.
Shadow ran toward Cream. " Get back!" He warned Cream. " This monster is dangerous!!!" He warned. "Mr Shadow...I can help." Cream cried.
"Shadow, Captain and I need your help,Kupo!" Mog cried.

Shadow growled before looking toward Cream. "Stay out of this." He warned before to join his allies once again.

Cream and Cheese only watched sadly as their familiar ally returned to battle.
"Is that a friend of yours Kupo?" Mog asked. "A aquintence. I told her to stay out of this. I don't want to lose anyone else today." Shadow replied before to unleash more Chaos spears toward the Malboro. "If you say so Kupo." Mog said sadly.

Corrin and Zelda's interception caused Dark Pit to skid to a halt, small puffs of cloud sent adrift in the air. At Zelda's offered hand and suggestion that they return to the lake by riding on Corrin, Dark Pit's scowl deepened. Not only was Zelda still trying to interfere in his business, but they also had to rub it in his face that he cannot fly! He wanted to smack Zelda's hand away, but he managed to restrain himself and walk around the princess and dragon. Dark Pit wanted nothing to do with them!

"And... there's quite a lot of things I need to apologize for."

Dark Pit stopped in his tracks.

No one had ever apologized to him before. Never. Whether it was an insensitive comment or a cruel misjudgement, or an unprovoked attack upon him, Dark Pit had neither received an apology nor an admittance of wrong-doing from the other party. It was either brushed aside, or the dark angel was told he was taking things too seriously, or that the mistake was actually his fault. However, looking back at Zelda and seeing the small remorseful smile on her face, Dark Pit knew instantly that she was being sincere.

The reflection turned to face Zelda as the princess gave her apology, taking full responsibility for what had happened between them and the other fighters sent to bring Dark Pit back, and stating that she will no longer try to force him to stay with the group. Dark Pit followed Zelda's gaze to the rampaging Rayquaza, silent as the princess continued with an explanation that the Smash Realm was once again in danger, something he already knew. As their eyes met again, Zelda offered to give more detail as to what was happening in the realm if the brief explanation wasn't enough, but the dark angel shook his head and cut her off.

"That can wait!"

Dark Pit turned back to the direction of the Lake Shore, then looked over his shoulder once more at Zelda, his expression noticeably softer. He faced forward and ran to the edge of a cloud to get a better look at the situation. Rayquaza was exuding a dark aura, and the twisting and writhing of its serpentine body suggested pain than malevolence. Dark Pit's red eyes narrowed in thought and he faced the two princesses.

"Rayquaza used Hyper Beam; it will be vulnerable for a moment," he stated. Struck with inspiration, Dark Pit ran back to Corrin and Zelda and hopped onto the dragon, behind Zelda. His sniping staff appeared in his hand. "We'll strike from the air; we have the advantage of distance and mobility. Corrin, get us over there! Zelda, ready your spells!"

Dark Pit gripped his mount tightly with his legs (he was NOT putting his arms around Zelda!) as Corrin flew them both toward the maddened Pokemon. Rayquaza howled in shock and rage as a dark shot fired from the angel's sniping staff bounced off its head. The giant serpent hissed and turned its attention toward the three Smash Brothers. Link and Marth seized the opportunity to close in on Rayquaza and strike with their blades, landing numerous good hits on it and keeping its attention divided.

Samus and Pikachu finally arrived at the scene. Pikachu's fur and tail stood on end as sparks flew from her cheeks. Samus took a brief moment to scan Rayquaza, and it was just as she had suspected: someone of ill intent had left a sizable chunk of Dharkon's congealed blood on Rayquaza's offering stone and the Pokemon, believing it to be a meteorite, had consumed it! The corruption that was affecting Rayquaza matched that of the Ursaring she had encountered the other day!

Samus glanced at Nurse Joy. "There is a foreign object within Rayquaza that is causing this. Do you have anything to purge it?"

Nurse Joy's answer was immediate. "Yes! Some of the herbs that Dark Pit has gathered should do the trick!"

Samus was already firing missiles at Rayquaza. She didn't need to look to know that the good nurse and the Lake Scientist had already gone into the laboratory. She shouted to Link and Marth. "Subdue Rayquaza!"

With the sudden arrival of Oracle, the phantom thieve’s resident tech savant, the two took a moment to examine one another with curiosity. Inkling hadn’t actually met Oracle before, but she had heard of her and the similarities between one another. Now that they were face to face Inkling couldn’t deny there was a certain satisfaction in seeing these fabled comparisons right in front of her. There was the orange hair of course, the tentacles, and if you squinted just a little bit her mask did sort of give the same general vibe of Oracle’s glasses. Yep, if Inkling was randomly turned into a human she’d totally look like the person in front of her! Inkling gave a toothy smile, a wave, and was just about to say hello when Oracle cut to the chase, accusing her of being a replacement! If anything, Inkling would totally be the original! She’d playfully stick out her tongue towards her ‘sister from another mister’ but quickly fell back in line as the moment passed. Everyone’s attention returned to the contents of the poem, and it was time to get cracking!

With everyone working together, especially with the help of her humany counterpart, it wouldn’t take long for them to get swept up in solving the riddle. Inkling bobbed her head up and down as she took in everyone’s thought process, whittling down who each line referred to which fighter. Some were decently obvious, even for Inkling, but some parts of the poem were oh so just vague enough that the group really took their time to work it out. But soon enough they’d reach a satisfactory point in their theorizing, having a decent understanding of who’s who, or at the very least a reasonable hypothesis for it. When asked if she or the rest of the group had any other suggestions, Inkling shook her head.

“Squimmy!”

Everything sounded about right to Inkling, so she didn’t have much else to add.

Still, even then it wasn’t like figuring out the poem magically solved everything. The locations of the fighters were particularly worrying, such as poor Isabelle being stuck with Sephiroth! Hopefully with whatever that meteor event the broadcast mentioned, the jerk wouldn’t cause any trouble for their fellow fighters. But with that brewing in the group’s minds, there was also another question to fret about, what next? Joker set his sights on Lumiose City. Despite Nurse Joy’s understandable concerns with them heading to a very populated area when they were wanted criminals, Inkling’s focus was near solely on the Music Festival. Well, not solely on it, but as a connoisseur of fresh beats and tunes Inkling couldn’t deny the allure of going, even if it was to steal the event’s grand prize. Which is why, even with Joker’s offer to go on his own, Inkling would physically chain herself to the Thief if it meant she could go! Who knows, while she didn’t know every music artist mentioned on the radio, with the agent’s own background in music, maybe that could come in handy.

“Hmm…”

That thought floated around in her brain. It was probably way too soon for any plans, but Inkling had been a DJ, and the name she went under wasn’t connected to either her Agent Title or actual identity. If it wasn’t too late, maybe she could sign up for the festival, either to win the actual pick or simply help provide a distraction away from the actual theft of the pillar.

But again! Just worrying about getting over to Lumiose City was already a problem in itself. Like the nurse said, it’s a loooong way from their current location. And speaking of, they’d also need to drop Nurse Joy off somewhere safe first. Still, Inkling’s face remained squished up as she thought to herself.

Mewtwo listened to Toon Link’s riddle and pondered. It seems like fate was indeed upon them if this kid stumbled upon a riddle that just happened to mention the Pillars they were supposed to collect before this Lunaris did. The physic Pokémon found himself wondering if he actually believed in such things as fate and destiny. He knew humans put weight on such things! It gave them purpose. And purpose drove humans. He remembered the days and weeks wondering what his purpose was, back when he was young to the work.

He looked to Ike, who had taken the lead toward the Stadium with determination.

“What do you think we will find at the Stadium?” He asked. The Stadium was better than nothing but likely they will have no lead there from his understanding. And even if there was, there was a chance that Lunaris’ forces will intercept them! With that in mind, he broadcasted his mental probe to a radius, that he could sense minds before they could possibly ambush them. At least he hoped. He had yet to see a mind he couldn’t read. And he was sure he wasn’t going to find an exception in a normal goon.

Roxanne knew for an absolute fact that she was being toyed around with by her superior, a somewhat common occurrence, but one that Roxanne knew wasn't out of ill intent. Watching as Alexandria twirled the piece of paper between her fingers, practically taunting her, Roxanne felt another light breeze of wind make its way through the streets of the city, fluttering her skirt gently. Sooner or later she knew that the weather was going to pick up again, and she absolutely didn't want Alexandria to let go of that valuable note until it was in good hands - her own.

She took a step backwards, her arms lowering as she huffed.
"I know that it feels like that I'm in a bit of a rush trying to learn more and more..."
Roxanne responded, her gaze moving away from Alexandria and the note she still clutched on and into the distance, as she continued to talk.
"I've wanted to teach for the longest time, even before I signed up for any of this. Assistant Librarian, Gym Leader, they do mean a lot to me and they're valuable stepping stones... but when you've got a dream, then you stop at nothing to make sure it you can achieve it, correct? I don't want an opportunity to slip through my fingers when I'm working so hard to make sure I'm prepared for whatever is thrown at me."

Nonetheless, it was still enough for Roxanne to contemplate what she was doing, even if it was just a little bit.
"Perhaps I am going a little too fast for your own liking, but it just doesn't feel like I'm getting anywhere. I want to teach others and become a Professor much like those I was inspired by... but I just don't feel ready yet. It's why studying for all of this has become so important to me, even in my spare time. I want to make sure that I'm capable as soon as possible, this doubt... I hate it. It just doesn't feel right!"

Her face screwed up into a stubborn pout before Roxanne turned back to Alexandria, sighing and shaking her head, appearing a little deflated.
"You really did catch me at a vulnerable time, didn't you... I guess all I can do is to accept your agreement then..."

Hearing Isabelle ponder what the military could have used that effected him as well, was beyond Roxas. It wasn't something he had pondered nor did he care to. All he needed to know was it was a hindrance and likely had been deployed to weaken Sephiroth. Nonetheless, they hadn't thought of anything beyond that, though his own appearance in this place hadn't been accounted her beforehand anyways. None of it mattered anyways. As disgusted as he was with it all, he wasn't going to stick his nose in it. Not without proper reason. Besides, he knew it was dangerous to go asking the military questions. He and Isabelle had been lucky to get away with little issue. He dreaded what could have happened if things hadn't gone as smoothly. The two of them could have become experiments themselves. That was something he didn't wish to become. Not after what he experienced with DiZ.

A scowl briefly crossed his features at the thought of being trapped in Twilight Town with his memories erased. It was almost like being an experiment albeit in a different sense. Forcing the thoughts from his mind, he heard Isabelle mention Lunaris and he let himself bounce up on the mushroom once again as the name settled in his mind. That had been the one who showed up in the sky, or so he assumed based on what the military had told them before their escape. He had only seen as much as he canine companion though and that was only the Citadel itself. He hadn't seen a man to go with it. Maybe he should have tried investigating then and there, though what reason did he have for such? It wasn't as if it was his business to go poking around in. Besides, he had stopped the meteor. He couldn't be too bad, could he?

His expression again faltered as he realized the foolishness of his own thoughts. He couldn't merely assume Lunaris was good despite his good deed. Xemnas had been similar and he knew how that had ended. Still, he couldn't deem him bad either. It wasn't as if he knew this world or what could be going on. From how Isabelle spoke though, she seemed worried that power like that of what Lunaris had displayed was not being kept in check by some hands.... Wait, had he heard that right? Hands? Roxas furrowed his brows, but didn't dare question it, instead he decided it was yet another oddity of this world he didn't understand. There were bound to be many of those.

"Whatever is going on, hopefully you can find some answers in the city. I don't understand any of it anyways," he admitted as he rubbed the back of his neck with his free hand.

As Isabelle joined him at the cliff overlooking the mushrooms, his blue eyes flickered towards her as she offered Oathkeeper back to him. Her reasoning made him chuckle, but he accepted the key without any resistance, knowing there was no reason to fight among themselves over such a trivial matter. Besides, hearing her kind words made him feel rather embarrassed and a faint blush covered his cheeks from it. Such praise was uncommon for him.

"You don't need to thank me. It was best you could protect yourself easily," Roxas murmured as he waved it off and averted his gaze to avoid letting her see his pink face. "Besides, I fought more with one keyblade than two. I would have been fine if something happened!"

That was a lie and Roxas knew it, but his pride was on the line. He wouldn't let it shatter easily! This wasn't the first time he had willingly given up a keyblade. He had thrown Riku one when fighting against him and not had a care in the world then. There was also the time he had given... wait who had he given his keyblade two one time and used a stick instead. He couldn't remember. The memory was clear in his mind, but the person attached to it was foggy. How strange. Yet another oddity of his situation. Either way it didn't matter. What mattered was he was fine without his weapon, he was sure of it.

"Now which way do we need to go? You know better than me where exactly this Console City is."

Nurse Joy looked upon the holographic map and the markers that indicated the individual members of the Super Smash Brothers and their locations. The riddle had been deciphered, but the nurse couldn't help but feel disheartened. "Not every Super Smash Brother has returned to the Realm... This will be a hard fight to win." She looked to Joker and the others, and her face hardened with resolve. "I promise that my sisters and I will do all we can to help you. If you are ever in need of shelter or healing, know that the Pokemon Center will never turn you away. To do so is to go against our oath as Nurse Joys!"

Joy's eyes drifted to the distant dirt road. "If Lumoise City is where you are bound, then the nearest town and Pokemon Center will be Postwick. It is a small farming village, and a good place for supplies if you do not draw too much attention to yourselves. I will accompany you until we get there. I will inform the other Pokemon Centers to keep an eye out for you. Who knows, maybe they have already seen the other members of the Super Smash Brothers!" The nurse raised a finger and winked. "We Joys have secret codes we use to communicate with each other in case of trouble, such as an attack from Team Rocket. I will be able to get the word out to the others without revealing you to Lunaris or any of his followers."

Joy's face became serious again. "There is something else you need to know: these plains are currently under the control of General Mugorl, a Moblin loyal to Lunaris. I have seen him during my imprisonment in the Stadium. I guarantee that he has already heard about what has happened. I believe it reasonable to expect road patrols and extra security in the nearby settlements."

Odessa grunted softly as Captain Falcon gently placed her against a tall stone which kept her out of sight of the Malboro and offered some defense from its wrath. She tried to push herself up to her feet, but winced and slumped back against the rock. Captain Falcon will not need to worry about the priestess going anywhere. She couldn't leave if she wanted to.

"W-wait," Odessa called weakly as Captain Falcon wrapped his scarf around his nose and mouth, but it was too late: he had already run off to confront the Malboro. She winced. The fool! If a mere face cover could offer protection from the Malboro's breath, then the creature would have already been dealt with long ago. Just being exposed to the Malboro's Bad Breath attack was enough to have a devastating affect on its victim: poison, paralysis, petrification, toad-ification, shrinking, confusion, sleep, silence, blinding, or a combination of all of these ailments. Captain Falcon may have just gotten himself killed... and her alongside him! Unless...

Odessa pulled out the necklace that held her Gossip Stone. Maybe she can call Lord Lunaris for aid!

Malboro had an instinctive fear and hatred of fire. Upon seeing Captain Falcon's flaming kick coming toward it, the plant-like beast went berserk, its vines thrashing madly and creating waves and water spouts in an attempt to douse the racer's fire... and smash him! Trees, rocks, land, all of it was demolished under the maddened Malboro's vines, turning the area around it into a lake.

Odessa managed to activate the Gossip Stone's magic. She mustered up the strength to speak into the stone when a wave washed over her, leaving her drenched and freezing. She blew wet bangs from her eyes and tried to speak into her Gossip Stone only to find her trembling hand empty, much to her great dismay. The wave had torn the Gossip Stone right out of her hand, and it was lost forever in the Sorrowfen.

Odessa dejectedly slumped back against the stone. "Ugh, why me? Why me...?"

F-Zero_-_Captain_Falcon_as_seen_in_F-Zero_GX_and_F-Zero_AX (1).pngCaptain Falcon felt the heat of his flaming kick as it soared toward the Malboro, a surge of adrenaline coursing through him. He was determined to bring this creature down, knowing it was responsible for the suffering of the Kokiri. But as he watched the Malboro react, thrashing wildly and creating chaos in its wake, a sense of urgency gripped him.

“Come on!” he shouted, channeling his focus as he dodged one of the creature's massive vines. The force of the Malboro's thrashing sent debris flying, and he narrowly avoided being crushed under a falling tree. Falcon's resolve only intensified; he couldn’t let this beast destroy everything around them—or worse, let it consume him and his friends.

With the Malboro’s anger escalating, Falcon knew he needed to exploit its weaknesses. He remembered hearing about the creature's fear of fire and how it could be vulnerable if it lost control. With determination set in his eyes, he planned his next move.

"Let’s see how you handle this!" Falcon yelled, gathering energy for another powerful attack. He focused on the flames surrounding his fist, ready to unleash a series of fiery strikes.

“FALCON KICK!” he roared again, aiming for the Malboro’s exposed tendrils. As his kick connected, a wave of fire erupted, the heat momentarily illuminating the swamp. The Malboro shrieked in pain, thrashing even more violently, but Falcon kept pushing forward, refusing to back down.

“Shadow! Mog! We need to keep the pressure on!” he called out, knowing his allies were crucial in this fight. He couldn’t let the creature regroup or retaliate. The fate of the Kokiri on their shoulders, and Captain Falcon was ready to fight with everything he had to protect them.

"Right way Captain!" Mog cried. He performs another dance.
"Love Seranade,Wil O the whip!" Mog's dance allows him to cast flames which he unleashes toward the Malboro.
"Mr Shadow, allow me and Cheese to help you and your friends!" Cream pleads.
"No,you say there, you risk to be poisoned." Shadow replied before to join his other allies on the battlefield.
He unleashed more Chaos spears toward the Malboro. He didn't know any fire abilities ,so using his Chaos energy attacks were the only attacks were the only thing he could do.
Though a Chaos Blast would be much more effective. However he needed to focus energy to unleash it. Since he was still poisoned it eould take more time.

There seemed to be no disagreements in Futaba's analysis. That came as no surprise to Ren. She was thorough with her work and she hadn't grazed over her thoughts without some kind of explanation even if it had been only a brief statement. Everything they could get out of the poem was before them now, and while it did provide some useful information, it did leave him wishing they had more. It was unfortunate there had been limitations to what he was given, and while a tinge of disappointment did grace his facial features, he knew better than to drag himself down over it. Besides, he had other information to work with from the radio. It was only a hunch, but it was better than nothing. Still, chasing hunches was a reckless endeavor. He knew that all too well.

Before he could even think to move things along, his attention was drawn back to the nurse as she spoke of the supposed General of this area and how it was likely he had heard of what had happened. That was beyond a given. Anyone who listened to the radio could know that much. It made moving around the area a bigger pain though. They could easily leave and head east, taking a route back whence they had came before, but he figured it wouldn't be the fastest route forward. He didn't even know if doing all this was their best course of action. It was hard to say when nobody was giving much of an idea of how they felt on the ordeal. Sure, he got the simple "let's go" but was that really enough? Maybe he was too used to the Phantom Thieves unanimously making decisions instead of putting their full trust in his decisions alone.

A sigh slipped from between his lips as he let his inner frustrations settle. Working himself up would do nobody any good. His shoulders slumped as he folded one arm over his chest and brought the opposite hand up to his chin to ponder things over. It was then that it hit him that he hadn't even had the slightest clue of what they were up against. His knowledge of what certain creatures were was rather limited in comparison to the older, veteran fighters in their ranks. They had grown used to seeing the beings of the other realms unlike him. Descriptions such as "Moblin" meant little at face value to him. Was he supposed to find such a species concerning? He had no clue.

Ren's brows furrowed in thought briefly before he dismissed his concerns for now. He could ask his questions after they got moving. It might be dangerous, but so was remaining put, especially after what he had taken part in. There was no doubt in his mind that he could have been seen fleeing from the Stadium. The plains offer very little cover and he, and even more so, Arsene, stood out like sore thumbs against not only the greenery, but the morning sky. They were not safe and by spending time on the poem they had put themselves at higher risk of being caught.

"Oracle," he finally spoke as his eyes flickered towards Futaba. "Could you scan the area to determine how close any enemies might be?"

Futaba gave a simple nod before she found herself returning to the inside of her persona to gather the information he had requested. "Hmmm... there aren't any signals of anyone in your direct vicinity. Readings are pretty faint, but you will run into something up ahead. Sorry that isn't much, but you know how it is. Necronomicon can only scan so much area."

It was enough to go on for now, even if it was lackluster information. What mattered if they didn't have enemies on top of them. They had some breathing room even if it was only for a short while. He would have time to think, though again, he doubted there was much he could do.

A ping from his phone snapped him out of his own mind and he blinked in surprise before he watched Futaba emerge again, though this time she let her persona vanish and her mask to manifest over her glasses. "Don't worry, I just sent you a simplified version of that map. I'm sure you'll find use in it."

Joker smiled before he nodded his head. There was bound to be use in such a thing. "Much appreciated."

"Anything else I can do for you?"

"Not that I can think of," he paused as he rubbed his chin. "You already know what I'm going to say next, don't you?"

"Go home. It's safer if you're not here and Sojiro would kill me if you got hurt. Blah blah blah!" Futaba said, mimicking Ren's voice as she did. Her mockery received a scoff from the other thief and she snickered before looking towards the rest of the group. "Keep this guy safe, will ya? Us Phantom Thieves wouldn't be much with out our Joker. Plus we'll be ready to help if we can! Good luck out there!"

The navigator grinned before she stepped away from the group to ensure none of them got caught up when she left. Giving one last wave, she fiddled with her own phone and much like Morgana had done earlier, she vanished seamlessly, returning back to the world which she had come from.

With Futaba gone, Joker put his focus back on the others. His gaze flickered around momentarily. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, but he could tell Inkling was deep in thought over something from before. What exactly, he wasn't sure. He pursed his lips as he debated whether he should ask her about it or not. There was a lot on his own mind after all. It wasn't easy to take in everything around him, even if he knew he should, and with danger possibly closing in on them with each passing second, he knew he couldn't afford to ask every question he wanted.

Ann seemed to take note of his dilemma and placed a hand on his shoulder, giving it a light squeeze. She may not know what he was thinking, but she could tell he was lost in his own mind, and given where his eyes were directed, she had a good idea of what he wanted without a single word spoken.

"I'll check on her once we get moving," she told him lowly, leaving her words between only the two of them. "You just get us moving and focus on what is most important. You're only one man. Your attention can only go so far."

A smile crossed Ren's lips and he nodded at her. As much as he would have preferred her not to be caught up in this mess, he was glad to have her around. It allowed him to cover far more things than he could as a single person. "Thank you."

Panther returned his nod before pulling back from him and turning to move over to Inkling while Joker prepared to address the group and finally get them moving.

"We'll be heading west through the plains to Postwick. Keep your wits about you. We'll have little cover and while it should be a while before we hit enemy forces, they will likely see us coming. The last thing we need is to be ambushed on our way," he spoke, finding confidence in himself and projecting it through his voice without wavering. "Our enemy has the same disadvantage. We're on an even playing field as long as we're smart about it."

There was a lot of unknown and Ren was well aware of it, but he couldn't let that hinder any progress. Walking out in the open was a bold strategy, especially for someone like himself, but that was how it had to be. He couldn't make the landscape around them change.

Sighing, he said no more before blue flames briefly began to encompass his slender form and burning away the familiar thieves get up to replace it with the school uniform which he had been dressed in before arriving in this world. His appearance was far more put together than before, though the glove Ann had wrapped around the wound on his arm caused a slight bulge in the upper arm of his coat. It was hardly a concern though. What mattered was disguising himself, even if it was something as minimal as this. It was a gamble, but maybe it would give them easier passage. His appearance was the one that stood out most between him and Inkling. She could possibly be played off as an ordinary one of her kind, though it might be a stretch. Still, it might work if he didn't seem to be a Smash Brother as well.

Taking cue from Joker's brief transformation, Ann followed suit and allowed her own thieves getup to fade into her own ordinary appearance in efforts to keep things on the low.

"Now, we should get moving," he said, not bothering to explain his thought process on his decision to change appearance. He figured it was obvious enough and if someone needed it explained they could ask. Plus he wanted to get moving without more delay, and he did just that.

Joker pushed forward, turning on his heels to move in his desired direction. His mind went back to thoughts of what awaited them ahead and his brows flattened. What was he even going up against? Was the brains of the Leader of the Phantom Thieves of Heart enough to combat with an actual General? Who even was this Mugorl? There was much he didn't know and for all the information he was lacking, he was hoping the same could be said for himself in his enemies eyes. He couldn't bank on the luxury of unfamiliarity though even if he had been a newer addition to the Smash Brothers ranks. His gray eyes flickered towards Nurse Joy as he moved, figuring now was as good as a time to ask the questions that plagued him.

"I know you said you had seen this General Mugorl before at the Stadium, and I don't expect you to have all the answers on him that I'm hoping for, but I do have some questions regarding him," he spoke up, knowing his words had seemingly come out of nowhere. "For starters, I'm unfamiliar with what a moblin even is. I can assume it's some kind of enemy from one of the other fighter's worlds, but that is as far as I can deduce. Do you mind telling me what he looks like? I would like to have the knowledge ahead of time so I know what exactly it is we are going up against. Any other details you can offer on him too, please share."

Any details he could get would allow him to properly size up his opponent. It wouldn't only be useful information for him, but his allies as well. They too might get ideas of what they could do to brace themselves for a possible encounter. The more ideas the better given they were at a numbers disadvantage. A General would have plenty of troops at his command while they only had whoever was present, and if possible, the other Phantom Thieves as well. He would only resort to even trying to call upon them unless things were truly dire. Even then there was no saying where they'd end up when they entered the realm. It was a pure gamble. Such strategies could wait for now though.

Trailing behind Joker and Nurse Joy, Ann walked near Inkling, trying best to think of what exactly she should say to the other. Communication was difficult after all, and while the other clearly understood what she spoke, the same could not be said in return. Would she even be able to decipher what was on the squid kid's mind? There was no telling, but she had to try. She had promised Ren she would and going back on that was not an option even if she had to play charades of some sort to figure out what Inkling was saying.

"So, uhm..." she struggled as she twirled the end of her twintail around her index finger. This was more daunting than she had originally thought. "You seemed pretty lost in thought a few minutes ago. Is something on your mind? Or maybe something in the poem caught your attention? Anything you might have to say or add is always welcome. I know Joker would appreciate it too. Besides, it's clear he has a lot of respect for you."

Despite the bit of awkwardness that came with her words, she offered a friendly smile in the cephalopod's direction, hoping that the two of them could find a proper way to communicate as their group pressed forward towards Postwick.

The moment Pichu caught sight of the sandstorm ahead, he clung onto Luke for dear life as the three boys soon entered the center of the storm. Even with the boy’s efforts to shield the little Pokémon, Pichu wasn’t entirely saved from the brunt of the sandstorm as grains of sand ruthlessly pelted him like tiny evil little bullets of pain. It stung like nothing else, but with how they were now all Pichu could do was grit his teeth and hold onto Luke with all the power his little claws could muster.

“PICHUUUUU!!”

Pichu let out a shrill squeak as he was forced out from Luke’s hands and off the vehicle, tumbled deeper into the storm’s maws.

Even the sound of his voice was muted by the loud rumble of the storm, and as he fell further and further, the two human boys became nothing but a vague silhouette in the distance.

“Pichu! Pi pi! PI!-”

He’d continue to shout and holler up until the very moment he collided with the ground, swallowed into the sand dunes below.

1728252685119.png

Pichu must have been out for a while, as coming to was quite the arduous process. Everything felt muffled and hazy, like all his senses had been dulled. Just opening it his eyes felt like an impossible task, much less moving his arms and legs. Had he been buried? It certainly felt like it. Pichu tried to wriggle his body out from wherever he was, only to be met with resistance. The more he struggled, the more that initial haze began to give way to genuine panic, and for good reason. He couldn’t breathe! In desperation, he’d continue to write for dear life, yet it seemed hopeless. Here was Pichu, soon to drown in a miserable sandy demise.

At least, that was Pichu’s last thoughts before he felt something gently nip his arm and pulled him out with a swift tug, plopping him on his back and freeing him from his soon to be grave.

“Pi…pi…pi….”

As he lay there greedily gasping for air, he felt whatever it was that’d pulled him out once more boop it’s snoot against him.

Arlight, he supposed it wouldn’t hurt to thank whoever saved him.

Pichu was just about to do such when-

“Pi-CHU!”

The jerk bit him!

As the little mouse yelped and hopped into a fighting stance, he realized just what his supposed ‘savior’ actually was.

A Sandran eager to make Pichu it’s lunch!

Unfortunately for it, Pichu still wasn’t just some ordinary mouse for it to gobble up. A swift headbutt to the noggin was enough to discombobulate the beast, as Pichu hurriedly made his escape. By the time the Sandran recovered, Pichu was already long gone, a speck amongst the sand dunes ahead. The creature’s stomach growled as it disappointedly buried itself into the sand, awaiting its next opportunity for a potential meal.

1728252685119.png

Pride filled Pichu’s head as he fled from the scene, yet, that brief victory wouldn’t exactly mark the end to Pichu’s plight. He may have won that battle, but if the Sandran had managed to let loose a sand attack in time, things could have turned out very differently. An electric Pokemon like himself stuck in the middle of a desert could only spell trouble. Any ground type pokemon or beast would certainly see him as an opportunity for a quick and easy snack, and Pichu couldn’t blame them. More than half of his usual moveset would be completely useless against them, and Pichu wasn’t exactly in the best considering the sandstorm.

The desert was a dangerous place for a Pokémon like him, which made it all the more vital that he reunite with Sora and Luke.

Right, he’d nearly forgotten about them!

Pichu whipped his head about, looking for any signs of the two boys or their makeshift ship. Yet, all Pichu saw was dirt, sand, more dirt, and wow would you look at that, even more sand! Who knows how long it’d take to look for them. And the longer he was out here blindly wandering in search of the boys, the more likely he’d end up attracting the attention of whatever else was occupying the desert.

And speaking of…

…..Krooo

Pichu heard a rumbling noise coming from below. In fact, it was coming from right under his feet! Pichu jumped out of the way just in the Knick of time as something lunged out from underneath him. A reptilian creature with sharp teeth bared in a crocodilian smile. It was a Krookodile!

Pichu could hear the Pokémon’s mouth shut in a loud chomp as it was mere inches from where Pichu scrambled away. Any moment later and he would have been toast! But there was no time to relax as the Krookdile stared Pichu down with its beady black eyes. Licking its lips, the beast used its tail to swat up a whirlpool of winding sand, catching Pichu completely off guard. With the dirt clouding his vision, avoiding the beast’s attacks was going to be a whole lot more difficult, as evidenced by how Pichu once more barely avoided bitten in half by a sudden bite! He couldn’t do much to fight back either, as with only the looming shadow of the Krookdile against the sand to act as a guide, every skull bash and tail sweep of his only managed to hit nothing.

Pichu was forced into a corner, and if something didn’t happen then the situation was going to go from bad to worse!

It took a few more narrow misses for Pichu to finally land a hit, headbutting right into the Krookodile’s nose with a nasty crunch.

“KROO!?”

The beast held up it’s clawed hands to his snoot, realizing to it’s horror that it’s snout now was bent at an angle. This only infuriated the Krookodile further, as it became fully determined to make Pichu pay.

But, with his foe distracted, Pichu heard something yelling in the distance. No, not something, it was a someone! He couldn’t tell where it was coming from but he’d know that voice from anywhere. It was Sora!

“PICH-“

Pichu tried to call back out, only for the Krookodile to swat him mid sentence, knocking the wind right out from him.

Pi-pich..”

Pichu coughed, trying to shout but noise failing to come out. If he wanted to draw Sora to him, then he’d need to do it some other way.

Luckily, Pichu did have one other way that’d surely get the boy’s attention.

Rolling to his side to avoid the swipe of Krookodile’s claws, Pichu collected electricity into his cheeks and above his head, a grey cloud formed.

Pichu!”

And with his cry, Pichu struck down a bolt of bright lightning onto himself, wincing as he felt the dancing sting of electricity. The Krookodile merely laughed at what it assumed was a latch ditch effort on Pichu’s part, but the little mouse didn’t pay it the slightest glance, instead hoping that wherever Sora (or Luke for that matter) were, they would have been able to see the big flash of light and connect the dots on who it’d come from.

"Don't worry, your friends are in good hands!" Prompto said to Futaba before she left the group.
Noctis and Prompto turned back their attention toward Joker and Panther.
They needed to head west to their first destination,Postwick. "We'll be ready for the enemy...I guess." Noctis replied. "We'll follow you fearless leader!" Him and Prompto followed Rin and Ann,who were now clad in their civilian attires.
"I know we're on a mission right now and we're trying not to get caught by the bad guys..." Prompto started. " But it would be nice that once we get to Postwick or even to Luminose later, that we go explore the two cities, you know, tourist style. Try new delicious food. Visit attractions and museums."
"We're on the run Prompto." Noctis replied.
"We were wanted fugitives back in Eos and That didn't stop us from doing tourist stuff!" Prompto replied. " You're no fun Noct! It's not you at all Dude!"
"Well...sorry for that! We're in enemy territory you know? Anyway, when we arrive,I'm gonna take a long nap in whatever Inn we'll be staying for the night." Noctis replied.
Prompto noticed that Inkling seemed concerned, though Ann seemed to have things under control. "Yeah...Ann's right...It's always a good thing to say what's on your mind. You know to get stuff out of your chest. You'll ferl better afterwards." Prompto said to Inkling. "Tell you what, when we arrive to Postwick,I plan to explore the city and take some cool shots! How abouttagging along? It would make you feel better!" He suggested to Inkling.
