Sora quietly listened to Chrom and Robin before nodding slowly and keeping his eyes glued to the map before him. While he was looking for some kind of obvious answer to the current issue, he was well aware it wouldn't be that easy. It never was and he had learned that time and time again. Still, Luke's words from before lingered in the back of his mind. While it had been an attempt to put him at ease and reassure him to not jump recklessly into things, much like Byleth's own words had been, but specifically his last words had stuck with him.
"Sometimes the answer is right under our noses, and we miss it 'cause we're not thinking straight."
Maybe that had some merit, not only in Sora's own reckless nature to jump head first into things, but in their observation of the map as well. As frantic as his mind was racing, he could easily overlook a solution if he didn't keep his head on straight.
Taking a deep breath, the keyblade wielder calmed his mind and slowly turned his head towards the other boy as he spoke again. His eyes quickly jumped back to the map as Luke began pointing various things out. It forced Sora to stop and think about what exactly they were looking at. Even if it wasn't their objective, he found himself quietly looking over each mark, observing where they were and how many were grouped up together. Luke's remark on how more had even showed up made him think too. That likely meant not everyone had arrived. Actually, he could tell that much given how few marks there were. Even if he wasn't the brightest, he could tell the numbers didn't add up like they should. So many fighters were missing and even worse, they were vastly spread out.
Frowning at the thought, Sora tried to keep his own emotions in check, though it was hard for him to hide such things. He was a rather passionate after all and that passion shone in almost everything he did. As concerned as he was over everything he was seeing on the map itself, he had to focus on the task he had before him and that was figuring out potential areas where Lucina might be.
Looking at the two single, moving logos Luke pointed out, Sora let out a soft "hm" as he tried to think of the likeliness of either being Lucina. Sadly his knowledge of the Smash Realm was rather limited given how short his time had been on his first visit. Still, from what he can see on the map itself and the information Robin offered up, he wasn't sure either seemed likely, especially since both were moving from the based located in the area.
That forced him to shift towards other possibilities. There weren't many other options though. Most the other groups seemed too full of Smash logos for an army to get away with existing. Actually, the idea that not one, but two armies had crossed from Chrom and Robin's world was baffling to him, but that wasn't his place to speak. Maybe the Hands needed to be more mindful of who or what they were letting into the Realm.
With a small shake, Sora forced himself to focus. His eyes scanned across the map until they settled upon the only other single logo. It wasn't far from where they were, though admittedly he wasn't sure what was in the area to make an estimated guess as to whether or not it would be logical for an army to be there.
"I think the most logical choice would be here," he stated while pointing at the spot where the Ruined Zoo was located. "But that's putting aside the idea that a second Smash Bro isn't with here. It's possible she could be here and someone else is too..."
His finger moved to the two logos near the Stadium. That could easily serve as a stronghold, especially with no tournament on going. It'd be easy to defend as well given it was airborne. There was also the possibility that the kidnapped children weren't even present in the Smash Realm at all. That thought briefly crossed his mind, but he decided against bringing it up out of respect.
Byleth gave a curt nod in Layton's direction before he quietly and carefully watched the other professor clumsily and slowly come at him. He didn't judge though. He'd seen own students move similarly, albeit it was generally the ones who were incompetent with a blade. Still, he didn't let his guard down easily. Instead, he met each swing with a block of his own blade and parried the sabre back all while taking small, yet precise steps forward.
It seemed as soon as Byleth applied pressure of his own though was when Layton's true skill came out to greet him. Still, he remained well guarded, all while keeping his own powers in check to assure he didn't overstep in a simple sparring session. While he didn't wish to doubt the other man's capabilities, he knew it wasn't fair if he allowed the Sword of the Creator to be at its full strength. It wasn't about proving his superiority. It was about testing Layton's own skills and judging it for himself.
Compared to the fast movements of Layton, Byleth seemed to move much more slowly, yet with each swing, his sword was there to protect him. He was confident even on the defensive. Years of training and experience had hard implanted such a mentality into him. There was a reason he had earned the name Ashen Demon after all. Even the most skilled mercenaries had fallen at his hands when they had dared to contest him.
Despite such confidence though, the other professor seemed to keep Byleth on his toes. His eyes quickly followed the movements of his opponent and held his own ground until the opportunity for his own offense presented itself to him. One parry was all it took for the Ashen Demon to bare his fangs. Within the blink of an eye, his whole fighting style seemed to change and he aggressively applied the pressure. His swings were forceful, yet calculated. None of his movements were done by mistake. Each was done with purpose. It was a display of exactly how well trained and battle practiced Byleth truly was. While his blade didn't seem to be a blur like Layton's had been, he still moved in a way that felt quick, while not actually being such.
As he pressed his attack, his face remained as stoic as always, though his brows did crease in concentration. With each strike he made, Byleth searched for another opportunity to take the advantage. It was then he felt his swing blocked low against Layton's blade and he moved to quickly try and disarm his opponent. Sliding his blade up against the guard of the other professor's blade, Byleth quickly stepped to the side to allow himself to put more of his weight into wrenching the blade downward and put as much pressure upon Layton's wrists as he could without actually hurting him.
"You fight well, but I suggest you submit..." he said lowly, his eyes hard locked onto Layton, not daring to show him disrespect even in a favorable position.
