"Cream and Cheese..." Samus enunciated as she took a good look at them. She couldn't help but find their names to be quite a particular pairing; being rather charming in fact. Meanwhile, the blonde "mii" called himself Zenitsu, representing himself to be quite a character. Blushing a bright crimson, like a polished tomato, he appeared to be only escorting the duo to her ship and was leaving them into their care. Crying over his so-called "inferiority" against the likes of herself, Samus couldn't help but blankly stare at him - her perplexed expression hidden through her glowing visor. What was this guy's deal?

Though awkward first impressions aside, he seemed relatively harmless. Once the mii proceeded to leave the vicinity, Samus gave him a firm thumbs up before proceeding to deal with refueling her ship. Running her fingers through her arm cannon, she activated an ability that allowed her to suck in the electrical jelly; transferring it into pure - yet volatile - energy. Her suit vibrated and tingled throughout her body as it processed the sudden energy flux, before Samus inserted her cannon barrel into the fuel compartment. The pure stream of blazing plasma hummed from her cannon throughout the ship's purring hull, reviving it once more! After completing the deed, Samus quickly scanned her ship's vitals to ensure the mixture was truly compatible.

Thankfully it still appeared to be the case. And better yet, she found that the tank was now completely full!

She surely underestimated their capabilities. Good to know that she has an alternate ways of refueling her ship. Perhaps she should stockpile on a crate or two of them once the crisis here is over. Certainly wouldn't hurt relying on it in a pinch.

With the deed now done, Samus proceeded to park the cart right at the path entrance leading to the village, before heading inside her purple gunship. She could already hear the bustling of conversation emitting from within, especially coming from the two Princesses. Meanwhile, Cream and Cheese were at the other corner comforting a silent heart-stricken Pikachu. And as Peach mentioned how much they had to do, the bounty hunter affirmed that notion.

"That we sure do."

Samus agreed as her hands pressed against her helmet. They'd hear the sound of steam depressurizing from her helmet before she proceeded to take it off, revealing the warm soul of the woman underneath her cold sleek armor. Her luscious blonde hair - struck up in a long ponytail - would part away to reveal her soft, nearly blemish-free skin, which glowed nicely against the ship's warm lighting. Her emerald green eyes glanced over at everyone one aboard as she took the podium before a circular holographic table situated the middle of the main room.

"As everyone here already should know," the hardened smash veteran stated firmly as the map of the available world is projected onscreen, "The Realm of Smash has currently found itself within the middle of a major, multiversal crisis once again. For some of us, this may not sound too surprising - given the number of times we had to unite against a common enemy. But just as each threat grew in rapid proportion, our current opposition tries once again to raise the stakes even further. And this time, it appeared to have struck early."

"Earlier in the hour, Princess Peach, Pikachu, and I had encountered the Deku Tree in the deeper recesses of the forest. Unfortunately, however, it seemed that it had been struck a mortal blow by hostile forces by the time we got there, sealing... his fate."

"Though before his passing, the Tree had told us a vital set of information. For starters, our opponent in question is known as 'Lord Lunaris', and how he'd been ruling the realm for about a year by now. However, we've also been told of the existence of ten pillars that are vital in stopping him - five representing the Pillars of Creation: and five representing the Pillars of Destruction - each hidden within a selected guardian by the Two Hands. We know them as Master Hand and Crazy Hand."

She then points over to Peach and motioned her to reveal the crystal. The holographic monitor then began to relay more information based around images and brief text boxes to further explain; including the names of the Pillars and where the creation Pillars were potentially given to based on the clues provided.

"The Deku Tree was one of them. He held the "Life" pillar, which he bestowed to us at his request before he died. In addition, he also clued us into which guardians held the 'Creation Pillars'; though knew nothing about the location of the 'Destruction Pillars'. Our overarching goal now is to find these pillars before Lunaris does and use them against him. The Realm would be saved and we will be able to return to our home worlds."

Samus paused before the information boxes minimized and returned to the main map.

"This is all that we know so far." she finished with a light sigh as she scanned through the map, "Though while we locate the pillars, it is imperative that we find and unify the rest of the fighters scattered across the land. That and potentially find a safe yet discreet location for us to set up a proper 'base of operations. The longer we keep Lunaris in the dark, the less will he suspect our next course of action."

Her head then perks up to look at the others.

"But before we set things into motion... Any questions?"

Mythra continued to watch silently from her place as Toon Link moved forward to ask Pit if he was alright, though the end result of such an action was no better than what had happened to the angel. Wrinkling her nose in disgust, she could feel the anger rising in her chest, though no matter how much she wanted to let it out, she had to hold herself back. Luckily, that was the right choice, and as the Hylian jumped up and headbutted the croc in the gut, the Aegis couldn't help snickering under her breath, though her harsh expression betrayed such lightheartedness. It was a good thing it had.

Hearing one of the pirates announce the return of the "Kap'n" her gaze moved away from the scene with her two companions, and landed upon the ramp leading onto the ship. For a brief second, she saw nothing, but soon enough the sound of heavy footsteps followed by the silhouette of a large kremlin told her all she needed to know. Watching him draw closer, the Aegis' eyes narrowed and for the first time she got a look of who exactly they were up against. In her eyes, he was hardly a threat, especially compared to the things she was used to dealing with back home in Alrest, but unfortunately for her, this wasn't a situation in which she could simply be reckless and fight for herself. There were others around who could likely get hurt if she were to be rash. She had to continue with her patience.

Listening to the pirate captain as he introduced himself and began some lame speech, Mythra quietly rolled her eyes. It was all so sickening. Averting her gaze as he began to walk down the line of captive men, she began to search for some easy way out, but it clearly wouldn't come that easily, even with her hidden weapon. Well mowing down hordes of enemies came naturally for someone of her status, it was too dangerous here and innocents would easily be swept up in her onslaught. Never again was she going to allow that.

Grimacing at her lack of options, the Aegis' attention was quickly drawn from her own thoughts as Krook's voice suddenly sounded closer to her than before. Snapping her eyes to him almost immediately, the scowl only grew as she felt his hook run across her cheek. It took every ounce of her to hold back the nasty remarks that itched at the back of her mind. It was degrading to let such a sleaze touch her in such a way. That was hardly the worst of it.

As the Kap'n searched out for the one that had captured them, Mythra allowed herself to momentarily calm herself, but such an attempt would be all for naught. The next words the kremlin spoke were more than enough to cause any sort of calm to immediately escape the blonde. Her brows slanted immediately and her expression hardened even more than it already had been. Everything was telling her to scream right then and there, but the voice in her head (aka Pyra) was begging her to keep it in. No amount of screaming was going to get her anywhere, even if it did somehow make her feel better. While Pyra could understand where her feelings were coming from, she knew it was for the best not to cause a scene and oddly, Mythra agreed with such a call, even if she hated it. Still, this was embarrassing and it only became worse.

Feeling Pit collide with her, the Aegis spared him a dirty look and instead offered it to the many pirates that were mocking them. They were lucky she was in no position to smack them around, otherwise she'd give them a piece of her mind, and possibly even a taste of her sword.

In that moment, she hardly was listening to a word Krook was saying, until she saw the sword pointed towards the two of them. First came a threat towards his own crew, one regarding her own wellbeing. How generous, though she wished to spit in the face of it. That wasn't the only threat thrown out though. The next one came directed at her and instantly caused her brows to flatten. Such a threat really put a damper in any plans she could easily formulate, though, she had already been mindful of such a thing anyways. Still, to have it said straight to her face caused the reality of it to settle in. Despite that, Mythra still did no speak, opting to let her look of irritation do the talking for her. Even as Pit mumbled his apologies to her no sound escaped her pursed lips.

Finally it was over.

As the crew was barked orders, Mythra watched as one of the pirates came over to the group of women and pointed towards the inner part of the ship. "Ye ladies will be moving into the lower deck. Follow me." She hardly wanted to obey such an order, but she had little choice. Falling in line with the others, the Aegis moved towards the doorway leading down to the lower deck where the woman's quarters were to be located.

Once all the women were inside, the door was shut behind them, and Mythra could make out a soft click, indicating that the door had been locked. Sighing, she finally let herself relax, though it wasn't any sort of peaceful relaxation. All of this was horrible, yet all she could do now was sit and scheme. That was exactly what she planned to do.

Moving away from the panicked women, the Aegis leaned against the back wall and quietly slid down it until she was sitting on the floor. Pyra, you there? she questioned, though it was likely a dumb question to ask. Yep! What is it? Something bothering you? The audacity of those words. Surely she understood what was bothering her. Of course something is bothering me! We need to find a way out of this! Upon hearing Mythra's panicked anger, Pyra fell silent, thinking through possibilities that might still be open to them. Hello?! Pyra don't go quiet on me!

I'm thinking, Mythra. I don't have all the answers immediately. Huffing a sigh of annoyance, the blonde closed her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest, allowing her other self to thinking upon their situation. What was even available to them? Her own hands were tied. If she made any move, one of the innocent women would pay for it. That was more than frustrating. It made Mythra want to scream, however, before she could even try, Pyra's voice cut in once more.

That Krook said the women would pay if you acted out, right? Right. My hands are completely tied here unless I sacrifice innocents. Her faced wrinkled at those words. There was no way she could ever go through with something like that not after everything she had done in the past. Well, then let me do the fighting this time around. I doubt it will hardly mean anything in the end, but it might give us more time. Besides, if I appear I won't be in disguise, and I'll be revealed as a Smash Brother. If we can create a proper opening for that, we may be able to avert disaster for the innocents.

Would that even work? Mythra wasn't sure, but it was an option she hadn't considered. The only problem was the danger it would put Pyra in, though she supposed she hardly had to worry about that. The fire blade was no stranger to putting herself into danger. Besides, it wasn't as if they had to worry about death. The concern was more so with the innocent captives. That might work if we can find an opening, but what about the others? Do we tell them? Probably not. It might have to be just the two of us on this one. I'm sure we can pull it off though. We're the Aegis after all!

Snake held off on making any other orders until Steve himself was ready. With their return, he assumed they had gathered all their belongings, but the Minecraft man was gone before any last second affirmations could be made. Groaning aloud from his throat, Snake gestured forward with two shakes of his pointer finger. "Go on behind him, Roxas. Don't worry about matching pace, just don't let him get too far out of sight." He stepped forward to set the pace behind Roxas when the crumble of stone and dirt grew in his ears. It echoed through the walls of the cave, growing louder all around until the wall beside them opened and a shovel-wielding suit of armor stepped out. Another new arrival to interrupt his travel, Snake realized. Just when they were starting to make some progress... He held eye contact with the stranger while they both seemed to process their meeting. The knight reached that point first, giving a theatrical and fanciful greeting that left Snake even more dumbfounded.

Snake ended his moment of thought to draw his pistol and begin another. This Shovel Knight character was best described as just that, from their dazzling candy blue armor, jolly demeanor, and confident wielding of their shovel. A tool they treated like less of a tool, and more the essence of who they were, down to naming themselves after it. Could it be a case like the Keyblade? A person linked to or chosen by their weapon through some inexplicable process? Or maybe this was just some deranged guy in armor carrying around a shovel. Yeah, that seemed more likely. Snake let his thoughts race trying to place this name and face to anything he'd seen in his research. If he could find something, they could skip 20 Questions this time. Instead, in the quiet after their introduction, Snake realized the crumbling of stone he'd thought was the Shovel Knight's doing had continued past their entrance, growing deeper and nearer.

The Solid Eye focused on a rush of movement behind the Shovel Knight, depth focus and night vision brightness adjusting to better view a silhouette moving in the tunnel they'd made. Something pushed up tracts of dirt as it retreated deeper into the tunnel, resurfacing outside of the torches light. it was a pill shaped creature, half buried and blinking stars out of its saucer sized eyes. "Digle-dig! Diglett!" Snake locked eyes with the creature opened it's own, watching it fall back in shock. It cried out that strange call again before burrowing back down, it's tracks disappeared deeper into the tunnel. Snake turned his focus back to Shovel Knight, reeling quietly but fixing his eyes on the new arrival.

"Kid, get moving. I'll take up the rear, so-" The crumbling peaked over their heads, turning to a full roar followed by an avalanche of dust and rock. The ceiling ahead crumbled. Slabs of mossy stone fell, and a handful of Minecraftian zombies dropped with it. They fell scattered between Roxas and the path ahead, some more beaten than others, but their eyes quickly locked onto the running Steve and those behind him. They groaned and lurched forwards, slowly but intently, some splitting off to pursue Steve while others herded towards the rest of their group. Snake turned his pistol away from Shovel Knight, drawing sights on one of the zombies and when he saw something slithering in the gaps where the ceiling had broken. It was gone in the same second he noticed it, and the sound of churning stone went with it, but not too far. He looked back ahead, sharing his attention between Roxas, the zombies, and Steve, who was quickly pulling ahead. Snake fired into the zombies closest to Roxas, the impact knocking them back several places, but not for long. "The plan hasn't changed, Roxas! Take off, and tell Steve he has incoming! He has to keep digging straight!"

Kap'n Krook stood upon the quarterdeck and observed the activities of his rebuilt krew. His first mate, Kudgel, divided the new members of the Black Scourge's krew into groups and assigned each one a job. He yelled and bullied the captives, making threats and smacking them around if they didn't respond or react to his orders in a satisfactory manner. Next to Krook was a Kremling acting as helmsman, his hands resting on the wheel before him.

"Yarr, if'n ye don't mind me askin', Kap'n'," the helmsman began, "What's with the special treatment fer that group Kurr brought in? That bunch was causin' trouble the moment they got aboard the ship. Ye normally don't let 'em get away with that."

Krook had expected his krew to have questions. Keeping his eyes on the activities on the lower decks, he responded, "Aye, as I said, they got steel in their eyes. Ones with eyes like theirs are dangerous, and one day they'll defy me, but I need a few sailors with no fear. I need 'em shipshape fer what I got planned fer 'em." He gestured with his head. "Look there."

One captured islander, a young human, was obviously seasick. Kudgel, seeing the unfortunate deckhand not at work, threatened to give him a beating if he didn't move. The little Zola, Hupya, supported him and guided him to their group while the other newcomer, Pike, stood between them and the first mate.

"Fearless ones such as them cannot be cowed with threats 'n' beatings," Krook explained. "Nay, they believe in silly things such as 'loyalty' an' 'compassion'. To keep 'em in line, ye threaten the ones around 'em. They're not goin' to cause too many problems while there are so many poor, innocent island folk stuck on our ship, eh!"

The helmsman cackled. "Ha-harr! Clever! Yarr, that's why yer the Kap'n', Kap'n'!"

Krook bared his teeth in an evil grin. "Aye, an' don't ye ferget it! Once the Crystal Coconut is mine, I'll show 'em the color of their insides! Y'think Zola tastes good?"

The helmsman's eyes widened. He muttered, "The fish aboard the ship ain't gonna like that, Kap'n'!"

"Bah! Who cares!" Krook exclaimed, waving his hand dismissively. He lowered his voice so only the helmsman could hear. "With the Crystal Coconut, I'll be the one holdin' all the power. Lunaris may rule the land, but I am Warlord of the Waves! Those fish'll be servin' us, same as all who dwell in the sea!"

The helmsman grinned. "Yarr, I never liked those fishes anyway! They're always lookin' at us funny, thinkin' they're better'n' us. They need t'be put in their place!"

Toon Link did his best to aid the islanders, explaining to them the various parts of the ship and how to interact with them in order to get the job done. Pit, in the meantime, cheerfully encouraged them and shielded them from the bullying pirates. With Toon Link's instructions and Pit's encouragement, the new sailors were soon working together and the ship was running like a well-oiled machine.

Kudgel stood back and supervised them. On one hand, it was good to see everyone working, but on the other hand, it wasn't much fun merely being a supervisor. Being able to knock some swabbies around was the best part of the job! The large Kremling pirate grumbled to himself and raised his head. Despite the good work being done, the ship wasn't moving too fast. There was no wind to fill the sails.

"Hrrm... There's no way we're gonna hit the western seas at this rate, not unless we get some good wind!"

Toon Link and Pit had heard him. They looked at each other and winked. Wind, eh? Well, fortunately they could supply that! While they didn't know what their destination was, the poor krew will hopefully face less abuse if they could get there swiftly. Toon Link snuck behind a pile of crates that were being prepared to be moved below deck, and after a quick look around to make sure no one could see him, he took out his Wind Waker and summoned a strong wind that filled the sails. The Black Scourge shot forward, knocking many of the sailors and pirates off balance. Everyone could hear Krook shouting triumphantly.

"HA-HARR! Lady Fortune is with us tonight, me buckos!"

Pit, who was used to moving at much faster speeds, maintained his balance. He picked up a large heavy crate and carried it with his left shoulder used for support. Tucked under his right arm was a barrel almost as big as he was. He whistled to himself as he headed for the lower deck, failing to notice some of the pirates and islanders staring at him with wide-eyes and open mouths.

"Are ye seein' what I'm seein', or have I been hittin' the rum too hard?" One pirate asked.

His shipmate shook his head. "Nay, matey! I see it too! What has that'un been eatin' to get strength like that?"

Pikachu "chuued" quietly as Zelda stroked her fur. Upon Cheese the Chao's inquiry, Pikachu slowly got up, turned around so her backside was facing the flying blue creature, and curled up again, signifying that she wasn't in the mood to talk. Pikachu knew that she was being rude, but was much too tired and despondent to care. She closed her eyes and tried to get some much-needed rest. She'll find a way to make it up to them when she's better.

Taking her advice, Joker would poke his head out to see whatever was going on outside. Or scratch that, he’d hop right onto the roof of the vehicle, leaving Panther to take the wheel as he scanned the horizon. As the blonde drove on, Joker seemed to remain outside for quite a while, as Inkling heard the clack of his boots moving about above. But eventually Joker would make his return as he once more slid through the window, sporting a rather serious expression that’d make anyone worry. Such an expression however certainly would be reasonable considering the circumstances.

According to Joker’s words those dots in the sky were some manner of battle playing out, likely involving whatever was guarding the stadium. Inkling would find their eyes going to the window, though from this angle she couldn’t see much save for the jungle gradually turning to a rocky landscape. Guess that meant they were now officially out, meaning one step closer towards both the stadium and potentially encountering whatever that was up above them. So, like any reasonable squid, the Inkling would make sure to check that all of their gear was in working order.

Following Agent 8’s old advice, they quickly disassembled and reassembled their splattershot, checking for any clogs or broken bits and bobs. Thankfully, it was all in working order, so they’d swiftly return it and swap out for the roller, then the blaster, and so on. As the bus drove on Inkling would go through the same process with each and every weapon, finishing just as the bus came to a complete stop. We’re they there already? No, they couldn’t be-

The Inkling looked out the window, the smell of charred ash burning her nose. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing and yet, every one of her other senses confirmed what she saw.

One of Bowser’s ships, freshly crashed and burned to a crisp.

For a split second the Inkling’s eyes fell upon the back of Joker’s head, considering the possibility that this had been one of the ships Arsene had managed to bring down. But they’d quickly drop the thought, how would the ship have managed to get all the way out here? Plus, this type of damage certainly didn’t line up with Arsene’s skills. No, it was far more obvious than that. This, is what the thing in the sky had been ‘defending’ against. That realization sent a shiver down Three’s spine. If that something in the air could bring down an entire ship then who knows what else it could do.

Joker would supply the team with a word of caution, advising against going in recklessly. After all, the ship was still very much on fire and who knows how any survivors would react to seeing their prior enemies. Still, Inkling felt it to be too cruel to not at least try to help any that may have gotten caught in the wreckage so, pulling out their splattershot, they’d open the back door and slip on out of the vehicle, carefully making their way towards the burning ship.

They’d circle the wrecked vessel, eyes scanning the area for any potential survivors. And, thank The Great Zapfish, somehow all of the ship’s occupants had made it out unscathed save for some bumps, scratches, and burned shells obtained on the way down. But the majority of the minions did seem pretty either dazed from the landing or more concerned with taking care of their own, not even bothering to attack the Inkling upon seeing them. Still, Agent Three wouldn’t let her guard down as they eventually finished their roundabout around the ship.

It wouldn’t take long for them to make it back to the vehicle, ready to report all of their findings to Joker (looks like they’d need to grab a stick again). But, before they’d manage to actually enter the vehicle something happened.

1674341867575.png
https://youtu.be/aYz93cig4wE

The sky, once a dim grey, now didn’t have a single cloud in sight, letting the team get a good, great even, look at the twilight sky. And, with nothing blocking their view, Inkling finally got a clear look at what was above.

Now, Agent Three had seen a whole lot of floating machines in their life. The Octarian army was absolutely obsessed with the sort of thing. But none, in all of their years in and out of Inkopolis had they seen a floating ship like this.

It was a castle, pulled straight from a fairytale, floating right there up in the sky.
A rumble and boom left the sky, this one far softer than the violent clashes from before. Those weren’t bombs or missiles. No, by the looks of it they seemed to be fireworks of all things. Just what was going on?
Inkling glanced over to Paula, as her words did nothing but further confuse the poor squid. What did she mean that Bowser was with a wizard and dragon! But that didn’t make any sense either, didn’t they just deal with the Rathalos already?
All of these questions and many more swirled within the Inkling’s brain but before they could dwell on any further, those thoughts were knocked straight from their head. Literally.

“Mefwee!”

A wooden plank hit Agent Three right on the back of the head, causing the poor squid to yelp as their brains were knocked around like jelly. They’d soon recover, gripping tightly onto the weapon in their grip as they scanned the nearby area for whatever had pelted them. Nothing, in fact even the minions back at the ship had taken notice, looking on at the Inkling with the same amount of confusion.
Suddenly another hunk of wood whizzed by Three’s head, narrowly avoiding them as it flew towards the wreckage. And then another, and another, and another. Eventually all of the charred wood, broken hunks of molten metal, and even the minions themselves would be all dragged right towards the fallen ship, forming one large pile of, well everything.

Once all of the pieces from as large as the mast to as small as a nail, all returned to the primary wreckage, each began to reassemble itself but by bit. Before Inkling knew it the ship looked as good as new, as if nothing had happened in the first place. Yet, as soon as this strange occurrence finished, the ship would only hover before the group for just a moment before shooting up into the air, leaving the area empty save for the black cat bus still parked just a few feet away.

Time to grab Joker.

Making the final steps back to the vehicle, Inking would jump up to knock on the front window, hopefully nabbing Panther’s and Joker’s collective attention.

Roxas gave a curt nod of his head as the order to keep Steve in his sight, but before he could follow, the wall behind him began to crumble until it broke open and a knight of some sort emerged from the newly made hole. Turning his head to get a better look and forgetting the order that had been given to him, the teen quietly eyed the newcomer, briefly noting how he reminded him of a heartless. Narrowing his eyes, he carefully moved the torch he was holding towards the wall and placed it there without a second thought. With both hands now free, he held them out, expecting his keyblades to manifest in them; a sign of distrust towards this newcomer. However, despite his attempts to manifest both his blades, only the one returned to him and it still remained in the form of the Kingdom Key.

A soft huff of irritation escaped the Nobody's lips at the sight of the single key, but he quickly accepted it. It was better this way anyways. After everything he had just gone through with Snake, if he summoned a second key, he'd likely have distrust thrown in his direction once more. The same applied to it changing form as well, though maybe that was less surprising if Sora had ever shown off such a thing before. None of that mattered though. What mattered was keeping himself safe.

Listening to Shovel Knight's over the top introduction, Roxas couldn't help but let his mind second guess itself. Unlike his initial thought, he was beginning to doubt this individual was any kind of heartless, especially since he could clearly speak and didn't immediately try to swam him, despite the weapon he carried. Still, that didn't mean he was an ally. It only meant he wasn't the kind of being the keyblade wielder had assumed him to be.

With his eyes still narrowed, the Nobody was prepared to speak up and question the knight, but whatever harsh words had been about to escape his throat would never come. Roxas' attention was immediately drawn from the armored individual and towards the pokemon burrowing about. Confusion washed over the blonde's face, unsure of what he was even looking at, but he didn't have time to even question it. Hearing Snake speak towards him, his mind was reminded of exactly what he was supposed to be doing in the moment. However, the soldier's sentence would never come in full as the ceiling began to crumble.

Eyes growing wide, Roxas sidestepped to avoid being crushed in the process. He didn't have time to fully process what was happening though as his gazed settled upon the odd creatures that had come falling down. In a way, they resembled Steve's blocky figure, yet they were clearly not the same as he was. Their skin was green in color and their eyes remained shut. Their eerie groans echoed off the tunnel walls and sent a shudder down the teen's spine, but he held his keyblade up defensively nonetheless.

Preparing to defend himself, the blonde turned his back towards Snake and Shovel Knight and lifted his blade up in preparation to swing upon the oncoming zombies, however, the bullet from Snake's pistol was faster than him. Hearing it wizz past him and hit its target, Roxas blinked in momentary surprise. Given how everything had gone thus far, he hadn't expected the man to protect him, but he supposed it wasn't what this even was. The words that came afterwards confirmed such. The act hadn't been one to keep the keyblade wielder safe, but rather open his path to chase Steve down. Still, he was grateful for it, though he would never come to voice such a thing. "Right, I'm on it," he said instead.

Finding strength in his legs, the Nobody pushed himself forward all swinging his arm across his chest in preparation to hurl his keyblade in front of him and clear his path even further. Putting as much force into the action as he could, Roxas swung his arm forward and launched the key from his hand. The blade spun as it flew through the air, hitting everything in its path and either knocking them aside or to the ground, allowing its wielder to quickly move along the forged tunnel without too much concern.

As he closed in on Steve, he reached out and drew the keyblade back into in his grasp to ensure it caused his ally no harm. "Steve!" the boy called out, making sure the other could hear him despite the few feet distance that was still between them. "Don't stop digging straight ahead! No matter what keep moving forward! I'll watch your back and make sure you're not ambushed!" That was all he could offer. Anything that might appear ahead of the Minecraftian was his own problem.

Glancing back over his shoulder briefly, Roxas could still see the others in the distance, although they were drawing further away. Frowning faintly, he couldn't help momentarily worrying. That moment's distraction was enough to cause him to be taken by surprise as the ceiling above crumbled once more and a pair of zombies came falling down towards him. A soft squeal managed to escape the boy's throat as one of the zombies managed to hit him mid run and caused him to stumble enough for the second to knock him to the ground. Feeling panic rise in his chest, Roxas scrambled to hold his key defensively across his chest. In an instant a power gust of wind formed around him, not only blowing the zombies back several feet, but kicking up plenty of dust and dirt as well.

Seeing himself freed from his bad position, the wind magic died down and left the teen coughing from everything he had blown up in the process. However, he didn't waste more time than he needed. Climbing back to his feet, he began to close the gap between him and Steve once more, all while carefully watching the ceiling overhead in case more enemies dropped on them.

'Oh, Annette...! What mess have you found yourself in now... The others back home would laugh if they saw you like this...'

Annette's day had been a lot more frightening than she had first expected, especially considering it was her very first time travelling to a brand new realm. A simple wrong turn on a pathway and she then discovered that she was no longer heading towards the Smash Stadium, the idea of hustle and bustle in a battle arena instead being replaced with the uneasy stillness of a swamp. And things only got worse from there. Giant insects she desperately tried to swat away, sentient vines lashing at her, and the smell. That unholy stench! Slowly she felt like she wanted to pass out from the dreadful, rotting scent of the flowering plants that bloomed from Goddess knows where.

These dire sorts of situations had been all too familiar for her - in spite of being one of the brightest and hardworking minds among the student body of Garreg Mach Monastery, whenever Annette was in the picture, it was somewhat likely that her scatterbrained mindset threw things into disarray, even if it was always in a clear accident. And that manifested itself this time in the form of her not even knowing any details about the locale, aside from the famous Smash Stadium. Maybe in hindsight, rushing into a new world without making more informative preparations - maps, fresh spell tomes, even a simple brochure about the Smash Realm - was a very poor idea.

But these were desperate times, and desperate times had called for desperate measures. The stress of the situation had gotten to her.

It had been a little while since news spread throughout the Monastery that one of Annette's professors - and competitor in the Smash Bros. Tournament, Byleth - a pivotal ally in tense situations and friend, had gone to this strange 'Smash Realm' a year after it had finished in order to meet up with the prior contestants. Yet Byleth did not return after quite some time. Rumors were being spread, and Annette's fellow classmates were starting to worry... With no way of contacting their Professor, Annette knew it would have been for the best that someone had to go into the realm and find Byleth themselves. It just so happened that Annette herself was the one that was recommended to go - her talent as a sorceress and a tactician being cited as many a valuable asset, especially when travelling to an unknown new world.

Too bad things clearly didn't go as well as she had initially hoped. Finding refuge near a tree, she rested her back upon it in defeat. She couldn't tell if the watering from her eyes came from the horrid smell or her dampening mood, but it was slowly feeling like it was a combination of the two. Terrifying thoughts of doubt crept through her head once more.

'Maybe I should just give up and let the swamp claim me... of all the people they had to choose to save our Professor, it had to be someone as foolishly accident-prone as I am... what sort of person am I to save others if I can't even save myself...'

But if there was one thing Annette absolutely had going for her aside from her various abilities - it was her perseverance. She was by no means invincible, but many a friend knew her as empowering and encouraging. It was perhaps a little more difficult for her to motivate herself in comparison to an ally, but her optimism - what optimism she had left - was mustered as she tried to push back her mental demons and quietly spoke to herself.

'No, I can't... people are counting on me, right? And I'm still alive! I just got to find a way out... but how...?'

That was when she heard something break through the uneasiness of the swamp's buzzing insects. A voice. It sounded oddly primitive judging from how they spoke, in the second person at that. What exactly was a 'Yoshi' anyways? But who cared, it still sounded like human speech either way! And if there was one person talking, they were likely talking with another! It could have been a group! A quick idea formulated in her head... perhaps she could sneak and follow them at a safe distance - after all, if they were here too, maybe they knew the way out of this Goddess forsaken place! They could unknowingly guide her out of the swamp without anybody discovering each other or getting hurt! Now that was a good course of action!

But as she took her next step, another valuable lesson was learned: a pair of heels were absolutely not appropriate footwear when it came to traversal in a swamp, but then again - Annette never planned to be here to begin with. Not realizing that her foot was caught on an innocent tree root, she shifted her weight perhaps a little too far forward, which led into yet another act of clumsiness.

'Uwaaa! Umph!'

Landing face first onto the ground, she looked up to notice the true source behind the voices. A warrior with odd pointed ears, a man dressed from head to toe in some outlandish superhero costume, a strange black and red animal that looked half human - and half porcupine? - and last, but not least - a talking dinosaur? What exactly was this place and its inhabitants? All that she knew that she could do at this point was to wipe off some of the mud that had managed to cover her face thanks to her unfortunate fall, attempting a nervous smile. Combat was out of the question as she was on the ground and outnumbered four to one, and her cover was blown dare she tried to sneak away. Only diplomacy was her best course of action, and all she could muster at the time was a simple:

"Oh, uh, hello...?!"

Princess Zelda

1674430810884.png

While it didn’t seem that Cream’s mother would be able to be contacted, there was still some potentially good news. The little girl apparently knew one of the past fighters, Sonic the Hedgehog. That at least would give them a lead.

Smiling softly, Zelda nodded,

“Yes, he is in fact a close friend of mine. I’ll see about contacting him if possible”

If possible indeed. In the best case scenario she would have hoped that the other fighters had remained in their home realities, safe from all of the strife within the Smash Realm. Though the princess knew not to count on such hopes as she didn’t doubt that their heroic spirits would push them into entering the realm despite the potential danger. After all, it wasn’t like she was going to turn tail and flee. Of course not, though the Triforce of Courage aligned itself with the hero, Princess Zelda was no coward. Not anymore.

Princess Peach once more would grab Zelda’s attention, walking up to her with a rather somber expression, that so clearly parallelled Pikachu’s own mournful state. But still, Peach was able to hold herself together remarkably well as she greeted Cream and Cheese before finally addressing the Hylian. Still, Zelda couldn’t shake the pang of guilt upon seeing her friend in such a downtrodden state.

Peach’s first question regarded how much Zelda knew about the current situation, next mentioning the possibility of getting into contact with the other fighters. Before Zelda would give any opinion on the second matter, she elected to wait until the group had shared the full extent of their knowledge, so with a hand clasped onto her arm, Zelda recounted her own findings to the princess, or what little there was to begin with.

“Truthfully? very little. All I know from what I’ve encountered is that all participants of the tournament have been collectively declared fugitives. On my way here I encountered two bounty hunters who mentioned it being ordered by the law, but the hands couldn’t have been behind this could they? But then if not them, then by whom and why? All I can assume is that there’s surely more to the picture than just what I have happened to come across”

It wasn’t much but it was all that the Princess had to offer in terms of information. She’d hadn’t been in the realm long enough to face anything that could provide proper context. Yet what little she had seen didn’t serve to paint the kindest picture in the slightest.

Footsteps coming from behind the two princesses signaled that Samus had finished her task, as with a hiss of steam she’d remove her helm as she made her way over to the podium.

"As everyone here already should know, the Realm of Smash has currently found itself within the middle of a major, multiversal crisis once again”

Zelda’s grip tightened around her arm as the confirmation of crisis rang through her head. It wasn’t surprising, no not in the slightest. From what her prior ancestors as well as herself experienced during their participation within the tournament when something was amiss within the realm then it undoubtedly would have a near universal scope in scale. Still, that didn’t make the situation any less foreboding.

Eyes focused on the map, Zelda quietly took in Samus’ explanation word by word, as she explained what the group had gone through while out in the forest, including the demise of the Deku Tree.

1674430810884.png

Her thoughts fell to the other Hylian fighters. While in her own time period the Deku Tree had been long lost to time, Zelda knew the importance the figure held for the other Links. For the hero of Winds, Wild and the ever elusive Sheik, the tree had played a central part in their journey, guiding them in the battle against the Beat Ganon. Then, for the young Hero of Time, the tree had acted almost as a father to him hadn’t he? And though the one within the realm may not have been the same figure from their time periods, it still would surely be sorrowful news for the other heroes once they learned of The Tree’s demise.

Furthermore, there was also the matter for what his demise may herald. For the Hero of Time, The tree’s death would lead towards the chain of events that resulted in the hero’s own demise at the hands of Ganon, the sages left with no other but to seal the beast within the golden realm, which then too would eventually cause the Sealing war before finally, Gabon’s revival in her era. She knew the situation in the realm held no relation to her own timeline but the princess still felt a pang of worry, that somehow this would all connect together and spiral into such devastating events once more. That the hero of time, a seven year old child she was forced to look in the eye with the knowledge that he may die a cruel and painful death in future, would once more face such a horrid fate again. No, she would use everything in her power to prevent such an ending from taking place.

Zelda muttered softly beneath her breath, issuing a small prayer for the lost soul “May the goddesses smile upon him,”

Samus continued on, relaying all knowledge the Deku Tree had departed upon the Three Women. Samus spoke of the one who was at the center of this disaster, Lord Lunaris, a name entirely unfamiliar to the Princess. According to the bounty hunter, Lunaris had taken power as soon as the tournament had reached its conclusion and all the fighters departed for their home worlds. It was alarming to hear but not entirely surprising. After such disastrous events as the rise of Galeem and Dharkon, there would have undoubtedly been a power vacuum left in the realm’s wake, leaving it easy picking for any with ill intentions.

But, according to The Deku Tree, there was a means to end his rule. The Ten Pillars, five created by Master Hand and five created by Crazy Hand. Each Pillar is protected by a guardian, with the Great Deku tree having been one himself. Zelda silently read the clues outlined on the monitor.

[Strength is held by the guardian of the lake and sky]

[Fortitude is guarded by a great silver beast]

[Hope grows within a tree of happiness]

[Imagination is in the paws of a traveling musician]

Her eyes fell upon the Life Pillar within Princess Peach’s hand, a small gemstone that glittered with the essence of existence itself. So if they were to collect these stones, they would be able to put a stop to Lord Lunaris?

Samus outlined the basics of the group’s plan. They would first foremost set out to locate these pillars, making contact with all other tournaments in order to secretly reunite outside of Lunaris’ sight. Finally, she’d turn to the group, asking if there were any further questions.

It was a large amount to take in at once, but Zelda would be a fool to not pick apart every piece of information in order to get an even clear picture of the situation. She didn’t want to seem nitpicky but now was not the time to worry over such trivialities. Raising her hand, Zelda spoke.

“Yes, a few”

Sorting her thoughts into order, she’d don a ruminative expression for just a moment before looking back up to the Bounty Hunter, such contemplation replaced with a firm resoluteness.

“My first question is in regards to locating the other fighters. Princess Peach spoke of the possibility in setting up some manner of a ‘beacon’ or distress signal didn’t she? Forgive me as I’m not entirely familiar with your technology but would such a signal have the potential to be tracked by means of magic or machinery? If other fighters would be able to receive the signal there’s the possibility that this ‘Lunaris’ would be able to as well.”

Her eyes lowered to the floor as she spoke aloud her next question.

“You mentioned the Hands were the ones who hid the Pillars with their assigned guardians correct? Do we know of the Hand’s current status? I can only assume that in order to gain power Lunaris would have had to do something to them to make them unable to fight back against his rule.”

It was a rather grim thing to ask but Zelda needed the entire picture if she were to cast judgment on the situation. All possibilities, all outliers, all facets. She could only utilize her own wisdom in a meaningful manner if she had a source of information to pull from. Ignorance may be bliss to some, but for Princess Zelda it could very well become her downfall.

Shadow's attention was now on the newcomer. Another otherworlder like himself, but this one was a human girl. He looked at her. She reminded him of his dear lost friend Maria.
"No...it can't be her..." he muttered,

Cream the rabbit and Cheese the Chao.
"Really, you would find him?! Thank you Princess Zelda!" Cream replied. Cheese flew back to his friend's side, looking sad. "What's wrong Cheese?" she asked.
"Chao,Chao!" it replied safly, gestering toward Pikachu.

F-Zero_-_Captain_Falcon_as_seen_in_F-Zero_GX_and_F-Zero_AX (1).pngCaptain Falcon jumps in surprise to the sudden airborne arrival of Annette. She greeted them awkwardly has to save face from the embarrassing flop on to the ground, no doubt she wasn't a danger to any of them. Not to say they couldn't have handled it if she were. The girl had fallen, seemingly, from the sky. Or the branches. Either one doesn't matter. The only thing that mattered was that there was a cute girl that had fallen from above somewhere. Captain Falcon knew what he had to do. and the thought made the pilot smile impishly from ear-to-ear "Stand back, fellas. I got this." Captain Faclon clears his throat and proceeds to approach Annette "Why hello there~. That was quite the graceful landing you had there. You wouldn't have fallen from heaven, have you? Cause I do believe I'm in the presence of an angel~." Captain Falcon began to laugh hysterically in his mind "YES! Yes! I did it! I totally did it! I totally said it! My life is complete! Whatever happens next, just roll with it, Falcon! Just roll with it" Captain Falcon offers his hand "And who might you be, little lady?"

Annette couldn't help but to groan as she felt herself lay prone on the ground, having been caught off guard as a result of both her clumsiness, poor choice in ladies' footwear and an inconveniently placed tree root that managed to trip her up in front of the group of in what seemed to be near-imperfect timing.

To say that she was an angel who had fallen from heaven, as mentioned by Captain Falcon, was certainly far from the truth. What was meant to be her usual ensemble of a nice long white form-fitting dress, a puffy blue blouse, long gloves and a wonderfully soft orange cloak with white fur trimming had been spoiled and tainted by her trek into the swamp, with flecks of mud scattered across various parts of the outfit with the horrible potential that they could have stained any piece of it. Even the woman who laid in front of them looked a little worse for wear, as her usual soft appearance was muddied - literally and metaphorically - by the surrounding environment.

With her head already lifted up somewhat as she weakly greeted the group in relatively awkward fashion, her blue-eyed gaze turning towards Shadow; who appeared just as confused as she was about her sudden appearance in front of the group. But that was when she came face-to-feet with the confident Bounty Hunter and Grand Prix Racer.

Needless to say, it was obvious that Annette didn't show any appreciation towards the compliments that were directed towards her, especially as a result of her prior misfortune. She had people she had known and fought alongside hit on her call her cute before, that difference being that this man instead was a complete stranger; one decked from head to toe in his just plain ridiculous looking outfit.

'It's almost as if he's dressed up as some poor imitation of a superhero... just who is this person?'

She couldn't help but to think to herself, releasing another quiet groan. This time, it was less as a result of her unfortunate situation, and instead because of the Captain's clearly self-absorbed personality. Often she would prefer to act against those who would dare try to seduce her in such a half-hearted manner by asking them to leave, swiftly slapping them across the face, or if it was from a person who dared harm her; distract them and run away. But she wasn't in the correct spot for either three tactics to work, due to obviously being outnumbered by three additional otherworldly beings and otherwise being forced to remove herself from the muddy ground if she wished to escape, which was way too risky on its own.

Annette knew that she had only one other course of action, and that was to give herself in to these four and play along. As much as she did hate the idea behind it, desperate times did call for desperate measures, even if her own dignity was to be lost. There were bigger issues to resolve than somebody trying to flirt with her.

She proceeded to take Captain Falcon's hand, using him for balance as she then loosened her leg from the tree root that had caused her fall in the first place. After that, she used her free hand in order to push herself up from the swampy ground, taking a deep breath before she spoke once more.

"... Thank you. My name is Annette Fantine Dominic, noblewoman of the Dominic family and Sorceress. I've been looking for a way to get out of this swamp and back to where I initially wanted to go, as it seems I've taken a wrong turn. Can a gentleman like you help me out?~"

Deep down, Annette felt like she wanted to gag, both because of the lingering smell of the swamp flowers and how she had just acted towards this man of who she saw as a jerk. Nevertheless, she had to keep this 'cute and desperate damsel' image in front of Falcon. If it meant getting back on track to her search for Byleth, it was for the best. That was when, all of a sudden, she unleashed one of the deadliest tools in such a ladies' repertoire, as she winked directly at him.

Jeff yelped, jumping back as the captain snapped his jaws to tease him. He stared at the Kremling’s back blankly. He got this sour expression on his face, going off to work on the ship and occasionally lent his aid to the innocent villagers every now and then feeling responsible for them. He can’t let those poor souls get the brunt of the manual labor even though he’s a child himself still. He’s like that perhaps to a fault. Wiping sweat off his forehead, he may not use psi like he friends his weapons are just as deadly, it’s only a matter of time. At the very least he felt vulnerable without his heavy bazooka or his multi bottle rockets on hand the saving grace is it seems like those kremlings haven’t done anything to them.

F-Zero_-_Captain_Falcon_as_seen_in_F-Zero_GX_and_F-Zero_AX (1).pngCaptain Falcon began to mentally snicker and chuckle upon Annette asking for his help followed up by a wink "She winked at me...! She actually winked at me...! Oh, that is so beautiful...! I was not what I was expecting that, but hey, I liked that she was willing to indulge me! Ah, I like her already!" "Ooooohhh, nobility you say? You got the overly fancy name, pristine features, and impeccable Victorian-era style. That explains everything." Captain Falcon chuckles "Well, I'm honored to meet you, Annette." Captain Falcon gentley shakes her hand while giving a small bow "And I'd be even more honored to help you out! Though me and the boys behind me where about to check out this neat and slightly eerie temple right behind you!" Captain Falcon points to the ruined temple entrance behind Annette.

link was suprised by the sudden stranger appearing from the bushes , as the stranged explained who they were link felt like she reminded him of someone.
he sheathes his sword from his last interraction with his now ally shadow he continues listening to the conversation between the two .
as falcon attempted to flirt link could only cringe at his friends attempt facepalming before turning away expecting falcon to get a good back hand but he was suprised from the girl's reaction to the "compliment"
as she spoke he slowly understood what his brain was trying to tell him.
"noble , gentlemen , the way she spoke"
she reminded him of ruto , the zora princess he met when he was a kid and then again when he was an adult , he groaned realising this is gonna be one painfull journey.
he shook his head and his hat almost fell from his head , he grabs it putting it back to its original place before tapping falcon on the shoulder to remind him that , infact as he said , they were gonna go into the temple , so what are they even waiting for.

The sound of Annette's arrival was enough to cause Yoshi to turn his attention away from the group before him and to immediately look in her direction. Watching the young woman come falling into his vision caused the dino to wince and quickly allow a frown to form upon his face. While he couldn't pick out exactly who she was upon looks alone, it was clear to him that she was not having a good time; her clothes were sullied and even despite her composure, he assumed falling hadn't made things much better on her. All in all, he couldn't help but feel bad for her, though he didn't have time to voice such a thing.

Beside him, he heard Shadow speak up first, although whatever he had said was loud enough for Yoshi to hear clearly, but assuming by his puzzled look, the dino could tell something was bothering him. Was it smart to bring up? Probably not. The hedgehog hadn't exactly been the most open as is, and pushing him seemed like a bad idea. If something was troubling him then he would hopefully mention it, though he had his doubts on such a thing happening. Deciding not to linger long on that thought, he offered Shadow a small smile before his gaze moved on.

Hearing Falcon speak up next, his expression shifted. The smile which he had only just shot in the hedgehog's direction had quickly dissipated and his eyelids slid down. The words he had spoke had been enough to unamuse Yoshi, though he made no effort to stop the captain from taking the lead. He already knew this poor girl was in for a wild ride. Letting Falcon move past him and approach Annette, his unamused state would only come to grow as he heard the next comment that came from his friend's lips. Almost immediately, Yoshi cringed and quickly facepalmed. This guy was really something else. Maybe too much so for his own liking, though Yoshi's mellowness was enough to keep him from immediately acting. As much as he wanted to spare Annette from Falcon's tactics, it was better to hang back, especially since she seemed hardly fazed by it all.

Listening to the redhead begin to speak, the dino quietly took note of her name. It certainly didn't ring any bells, though other parts of what she said got the gears turning in his head. Perhaps she was friends with one of the many royals among their roster, much like how Shadow was friends with Sonic. It was a possibility, though he supposed it hardly mattered if she was. There were plenty of beings that simply lived in this realm after all.

Pushing the thought aside, Yoshi was drawn out of his own mind when Falcon once again spoke. This man was really going in on this poor woman. Hearing all this made him thankful that Mario was never like this towards Peach, though he supposed his friend never had to go to such lengths. Him and the princess were on a special kind of level, or at least that was how he saw it. Whether either of them wanted to admit it was a different story. That was a thought of another time.

Perking up as he was indirectly mentioned, he allowed a smile to finally return to his face. Stepping forward, Yoshi gave a small dip of his head in greeting before taking a prideful stance. "Yoshi is, well, Yoshi! It's pleasure to meet you!" he chimed out. "Yoshi apologize for Falcon. Falcon clearly too excited to see a lady." It wasn't like Yoshi to throw indirect shade towards others, but for once he took the blunt approach. Pushing past that, he decided to continue off the captain's comment on the temple. "Temple isn't decided... Yoshi still think going to Stadium is better... But friends seem keen on temple." A sigh escaped his nostrils at those words, showing he still wasn't sold on the whole temple idea, but there wasn't much he could say to change opinions. For now all he could do was go along with things.

F-Zero_-_Captain_Falcon_as_seen_in_F-Zero_GX_and_F-Zero_AX (1).png"Well, I'm not that excited. Just moderately excited. I'm not that thirsty." Captain Falcon chuckles "I still can't believe I managed to say that line though! What were the odds I'd get the chance?" "But yes, this little critter here is Yoshi. He's the loyalist friend you can ever make in your life. When everyone has abandoned you, whether it be friends, family, pet, ancestors, the heavens above, Yoshi will always be by your side through thick and thin with brightest soul you'll ever see! But don't worry, Yoshi, if memory serves, the stadium is quite literally on the opposite coast of where we are. So since I got my flyer, I can get us there in no time! Let me see if I can call it in real quick. Hey, Link! Shadow! Don't be a bunch of wallflowers, introduce yourselves! I'm sure he won't bite." Captain falcon puts a hand on the side of his helmet in an attempt to contact the Falcon Flyer.

With a weak plan in mind, all Mythra could do now was wait for an opportune moment to take action. Who knew when that would come. Heaving a sigh, she closed her eyes and rested her head against the wall behind her. What was she to do before then? Sitting around waiting had never been her preferred style, yet being trapped in a room with little else to do forced her into such a position. It was irritating. Her face showed as much and that was enough for one of the other women to take notice. "Excuse me." Her voice was gentle and oddly felt similar to Pyra's, but Mythra could tell it wasn't the voice of her other half.

Opening her eyes, the Aegis looked towards the woman who had decided to approach her instead of joining in the idle chatter the other ladies were currently partaking in. "I-I don't mean to bother you, miss, but y-you seemed a little troubled," the woman squeaked out. It was clear she was nervous to speak to Mythra. The Aegis' harsh expression was hardly an inviting sight. "A-are you worried about what the Kap'n said to you about your beloved?"

Those words were more than enough to cause Mythra's eyes to narrow as her nose wrinkled in disgust. "He's not my beloved!" she spat out. The harshness of her voice caused the woman to step back in fear, which instantly caused the blonde to reel her frustration in. This stranger didn't deserve to be on the receiving end of her anger. Letting a soft sigh escape her lips in attempt to calm herself, she pulled her gaze away from the other before her and allowed it to drop towards her lap. "He's a, uh, friend, I suppose... Doesn't matter what he is though, we're still being threatened."

It was difficult for her to even call the other her friend, such a thing wasn't exactly natural for her, although it was mostly of her own doing. The less friends she had, the less she could hurt them, or emotionally hurt herself if something went wrong. Still, it didn't mean she didn't care, even if she tried to act as if she didn't.

Her words were still enough for the other to understand and offer a soft smile at the Aegis. Without a word, she moved forward again and lowered herself to the ground beside Mythra, allowing her back to rest up against the wall. "T-that is quite the p-predicament..." she trialed offer. For a moment her gaze wandered around the room, taking it all in before landing on the blonde once again. "B-but I can tell... y-you're no o-ordinary person, or well... blade..." Again she paused, but this time she lifted a hand up to point towards the emerald core crystal that poked above Mythra's neckline. "I-I knew a blade once. Her and her driver used to visit the islands a lot a few years back. S-she was strong as could be, so I-I just know you're strong like she was."

Looking down at the hand pointed at her chest, a faint smile managed to form upon Mythra's lips. "Heh... well aren't you something," she mumbled. The woman lit up at those words and gave a soft giggle, but before she could say anything further, the Aegis decided to continue on. "Well, you're not wrong. I am strong, but being strong doesn't mean I can pull us out of this situation..."

"I-if there's any way I can help, p-please don't be afraid to ask!" the woman quickly blurted out, cutting the blonde off before she could continue with whatever she had been saying. Surprise quickly washed over Mythra's features. Of all the things she had expected, this hadn't been one of them. To hear someone so willing to jump in a help here was something that still felt strange to her, even with how much her own companions back home did it. Her face softened at the kind gesture and she gave a slow bob of her head.

"All I'm going to need from you is to make sure these other ladies stay safe," she said. It was rare for her to be so willing to reach out and accept such help, but this time around, she knew she needed it. As soon as her plan was put into action, there was no telling how well she'd be able to watch over the other ladies, but if it was possible to have another cover that for her, then maybe, just maybe things would turn for the better. The only downside was she had no clue what this girl was even capable of. Unlike some of the other women, who had clear defining traits of various species, this girl seemed normal, nothing more than a simplistic human. Still, putting some kind of trust in her didn't seem bad. Seeing the other nod in agreement, Mythra gave a nod of her own. "Then it's decided."

With those three simple words, the Aegis climbed to her feet and moved away from the other's side, making her way towards the door of the room. However, lady luck wasn't on her side in the moment. As she neared the door, the ship seemed to rock forward and gain speed, causing Mythra to tumble forward in surprise. Crashing into the wall beside the exit, she let a groan escape her throat. "Son of a b-"

Her sentence would never be finished as the ship rocked again and she frantically reached for the doorknob in attempt to balance herself. Grimacing, all the Aegis could do was try and keep herself steady until the ship calmed down once again.

did falcon really just tell him to introduce himself , at this point he was two seconds away from hitting falcon with the dull side of his sword to knock him out but he kept his composer keeping his usual resting bitch face on.
he looked towards shadow giving him an expression that can only be inturpreted as rage , and full on confusion.
he quickly wiped his nose bridge , he couldnt even speak but if he could , a lot of the stuff he would say wouldnt be friendly for kids .
he switches his gaze towards the noble women before putting out his hand to shake her hand.

F-Zero_-_Captain_Falcon_as_seen_in_F-Zero_GX_and_F-Zero_AX (1).png"And this here is Link! If you're wondering why he has such a fierce look in his eye, It's because this lad has seen some of the most mind-destroying things you could never think of! And he's beaten them all with his indomitable will, quick wits, and the gods on his side! This man's go everything you need to slay the forces of evil with! Whether it be bombs, arrows, a boomerang, a giant hammer, nuts that work like flashbangs! He's got it all! If your kingdom is in danger, this lad will save it in a heartbeat in a day flat! And nothing will stop him! He could be a dog, a tree, a fish, a rock, this man doesn't care! He is going to save the day even if it kills him! This man is true warrior! And excuse me for introducing him with such intensity for you, Link can't express himself verbally and I figured the extra hype was in order. Isn't that right, Link?" Captain Falcon pats Link on the back with a proud smile.

Hearing the backdoor of the van slide open, Joker quietly listened as each of his companions climbed out. Silence soon fell over the inside of the vehicle and only then did the phantom thief let his shoulders slouch as he leaned back against his seat. Laying one arm across the top of the seat, a sharp sigh escaped his lips and he angled his head upwards all while closing his eyes. He was stressed. It was an emotion he didn't want the others to see, yet was fine letting Ann in on. However, before she could even say a word on his current posture, he spoke up.

"You realize how bad this is, right?"

It was bad, and Ann knew as much, though she hadn't anticipated Ren to be so forefront about it. Usually he was more reserved about such concerns, yet here he was, letting cracks show in his armor, although it was only to her. It was a clear sign of complete trust, and perhaps a small cry for some form of comfort. Either way the blonde hated seeing him in such a manner. Looking over at him, she could tell his exact expression despite his face being covered by his mask. She had seen the look before; brows flattened, corners of his lips turned down, eyes downtrodden (if they were to open). It was the exact look he had had when she first told him about her troubles with Kamoshida. He was contemplating what to do, all while feeling stuck. Whatever thoughts he was having, were eating away at him, making him second guess his own leadership, even after her previous pep talk.

She couldn't blame him. With the sight that laid outside, it was only reasonable to feel such a manner, and she could only assume it was taken to higher heights for Joker given everything he had just been through involving the Koopa King. Everything he had previously told her was clearly being amplified in this moment, causing him to worry even more, and he only seemed willing to let those emotions be placed upon her. It was understandable. He had become more increasingly emotionally vulnerable with her ever since they had begun dating. It was his way of not only showing his trust in her, but allowing himself to let her in on his emotions, which previously he had done so well to wrap up and hide.

Silence lingered for a moment longer before Joker shifted in his place and lifted his head to look in Ann's direction. Seeing downcast, gray orbs looking in her direction, the female thief managed to form a smile upon her own lips as she reached out to gently grab his hand off the top of the seat.

"Ren... I do realize how bad this looks, but..." she began, but she immediately paused as she felt him squeeze her hand. Expression softening, she placed her other hand atop their conjoined grasp and continued on. "Like I said before, things will be alright... You always find a way after all, even with your back against the wall."

Reiterating her previous statement seemed to at least calm him, though the concerned look in his eyes seemed to linger, and even as he turned his gaze away from her, she could see it. Lifting her free hand up and sliding herself closer to Ren, she lifted it to carefully grab the mask upon his face. Pulling it off took the teen by surprise and briefly, confusion made itself present upon his face.

"You have this, Ren," Ann stated as she held the mask up in front of him. "I know this world hinders your full potential, and takes away your ability as a wildcard, but, you still have Arsene, and you know what can happen with him if you just believe in yourself and your bonds with others." Those words seemed to strike something within Joker. The sad concern that had dominated his face before shifted to something more thoughtful, yet serious. He was lost in some thought, and that only became more evident as a soft hum escaped his lips.

Without a word though, the phantom thief grabbed his mask back from Ann and held it between his own index and middle fingers. Staring at it, his train of thought seemed to continue until he finally heaved a heavy sigh.

"You're right, but if I make the gamble of breaking Arsene's chains then..." he began, but something in the corner of his vision caused him to pause.

Blinking, the thief's head cocked as his eyes focused on the scene playing out just beyond the front of the van. He wasn't going crazy, right? The fallen airship wasn't rising from the ashes, was it? "Ann...? Is that...?" His question hardly had time to settle in with her before she let out a surprised squeal, instantly confirming that he wasn't going crazy. But it raised the question of how. The Phantom Thief's leader had no answer to that, but he knew one thing, he couldn't let the ship get away so easily, especially before he could look it over for himself.

Before he could rush out the driver's side door though, he heard a knock against its window. Glancing towards it, he spotted Agent Three standing there, and he gave a small nod of his head. Being careful not to hit her with the door as he opened it, Joker finally slipped out of the vehicle. "Don't worry, I see what's happening," he said softly as he placed his mask back upon his face and stepped away from both the Inkling and van.

Immediately turning his head skyward, he could see the ship moving much faster into the sky than he had anticipated. He didn't have much time. His face wrinkled beneath his mask as he panicked to think of some kind of solution. Think Ren, think! he mentally scolded himself. As the fogginess his own panic caused began to quickly clear from his mind, Joker eyes lit up as a thought crossed his mind.

There was no warning nor real idea given to the boy's intentions, but he quickly lifted up his wrist where his grappling hook was hidden and let the cord fly skyward towards the fleeing airship. Feeling its hook anchor itself into the ship, a faint smirk managed to cross his lips. "I'll be back!" he called out to his companions, and with that he allowed his cord to begin reeling him.

Seeing this happen as she stepped out of the van, Ann let a sigh escape her lips before he brought a hand up to rest upon her mask. "I'm in love with an absolute moron..." she breathed out before composing herself and walking to the front of the van to look at the others still present. Offering the group a smile, she folded her hands behind her back, and decided to speak up, though she figured she could hardly speak for the tactics her boyfriend was currently taking. "I know this whole situation probably doesn't seem great, but I'm sure Joker has some plan in that crazy brain of his."

Those words hardly felt convincing, but Ann needed to say them, mostly for herself though. It was the best way to keep herself calm, despite the concerns she had with whatever it was Ren currently was thinking. What even was he thinking? Glancing skyward, his silhouette had long vanished from sight, and the ship itself was getting smaller and smaller. She could only hope he actually had a plan and wasn't being the biggest idiot around. What was he even trying to achieve? Did he plan to try and thwart the enemies by taking them by surprise? Such a tactic seemed suicidal given what had happened earlier. Perhaps he was going to bargain with Bowser, though if he had caused trouble like it sounded like he had, then he was sure the king would be less than willing to agree to some truce with the phantom thief.

What are you planning, Ren? I don't understand! she internally cried out. Maybe her overprotective side was coming out too much now, though who could blame her. With someone like Joker keeping her on her toes and causing her to worry, she was bond to be protective over him.

Feeling she was losing herself too much in her own mind, Ann gave a small shake of her head and once again looked skyward, though this time her eyes went to the flying citadel. Staring at it, she couldn't help but feel her breath being taken away by it. A flying castle wasn't an everyday thing after all, though she supposed she had seen things just as weird. Despite how crazy the sight of it was, it still screamed "I belong to a bad person" and that was more than enough to cause her to feel uneasy, plus Ren was only getting closer to it by going into the sky. "Please just come back safe..."

Little thought had gone into what exactly he was going to do by latching himself to the airship and in hindsight, perhaps it was a reckless maneuver, but it was too late to back down now. Seeing himself nearly reeled in, Joker sucked in a deep breath and silently released it. "Hey, Arsene," he mumbled, while giving his mask a gentle tap. "You think you could, I dunno, change up my look real quick? Maybe back to my uniform? Might buy me some time if I'm spotted." It probably meant little in the long run, but perhaps it would throw off anyone that might see him, though he had no plans of being spotted in the first place. His plan was simply to gather minor information, whatever that might be. He had no desire to linger around longer than he needed to, and less of a desire to engage in any kind of combat while he was alone. After what had only happened earlier, he didn't want to take his chances, especially this high up in the sky.

Heeding the thief's request, a brief flash of blue flames flickered around Joker causing his usual thieves attire to "burn" way and instantly be replaced by his former school's uniform. "Much appreciated. Now you better stay with me. I'm gonna need an escape after all."

Thou only has to give the word and I will see thy to safety. The persona's simple words were more than enough to put Ren at peace and allowed him to focus on the task at hand rather than worry if he had some kind of escape.

Finally reaching the ship, the thief carefully pulled himself up onto its ledge, keeping himself hidden behind the walls of what he presumed was the cabin. Once he was in place, he unlatched his grapple and quietly began inching forward along the thin railing. One wrong move and he would find himself plummeting back down to the ground. He had to avoid that. Taking it slow was his only option to do such a thing, thus he kept his back pressed against the wall and did just that. While it was a slow process, he managed to reach the end of his cover and peer around it.

Everything aboard the ship appeared normal; its occupants injuries seemed minor, if even present at all, and the ship itself was clearly in full function- something Joker still didn't quite understand how. That's what he needed an answer to, and his answer would likely be aboard one of these ships, or worst case scenario, in the citadel that loomed in the near distance. He could only hope it wasn't there of all places.

Allowing his gaze to flicker around, he search for some kind of clue what might lead him to find the answer he sought, and as gray eyes fell upon Bowser's ship, he felt he found his answer, or at the very least information. Three clear figures stood upon the ship's deck, two of which he could clearly identify as Bowser and Ridley. The third however, was of someone he had never seen before, but their appearance clearly screamed "Look at me! I'm important!" It couldn't be clearer that this individual might have something to do with what was going on.

Unfortunately for Joker, that was all the information he would be able to gather. At his current distance, he had no chance of hearing their conversation in full, only the bits in which the two villains would speak loudly, but even then, it was hard to hear them. For a moment, he pondered getting himself closer in order to eavesdrop, but he thought better of it, knowing he couldn't afford to get caught. Who knew what might happen if he was. With two villains and one unknown being present, he didn't like his chances. Still, the thief tried to inch forward to get an angle to grapple his way over to the next ship, but one miscalculation was enough to cause his foot to slip and much to his own dismay, he found himself plummeting towards the ground.

A gasp was all that managed to escape his throat before he threw a hand over his mouth to keep himself from yelling out and drawing attention to himself. Even as he flipped through the air, he didn't dare make a peep, not until he felt the glasses fall from his face, but by then he was luckily far enough away that he was unlikely to be heard as he called out his persona's name.

In a wisp of blue, the glasses melted away and the form of Arsene took their place. Thou really should be more careful, the persona sighed as he swiftly swooped down and wrapped an arm around the teen's torso, instantly stopping his descent. Dangling in Arsene's arm, Ren sheepishly glanced upward at his companion and chuckled. "Yeah, yeah, tell that to me next time, bud. Just get us down to the ground again, okay?" Grunting softly as a confirmation, Arsene spread his wings and swooped downwards towards the ground.

When a falling dot in the sky came into sight, Ann found herself quietly staring at it. The possibility that it was actually Ren hadn't crossed her mind until a flash of light, followed by a bigger silhouette appearing made it pop into her mind. "You have to be kidding me..." she breathed out. "That idiot." While her words were harsh, it was clear she was happy to see him, albeit plummeting through the sky wasn't a comforting way to see him. Nevertheless, she was happy.

Soon enough, the thief and his persona descended upon the group once again and once they were close enough, Ren slipped from Arsene's grasp and dropped to the ground of his own accord. He didn't address the group yet, but instead gave his companion as quick glance which was enough to tell him to return to his "mask" form. As he did, his glasses appeared back on his face and his gaze finally turned back towards his group. Quirking a brow, Ann was confused by the fact his appearance had changed, but she made no comment on it. Instead, she let him speak.

"I bring news!" Ren announced, lifting his hands into the air. "We are avoiding the big scary things in the sky, no ifs, ands or buts about it!" Such a declaration needed an explanation of its own and the thief was well aware of such. "I couldn't get close enough to hear anything, but Bowser isn't alone. Ridley is now with him. There was also some strange robed individual that I've never seen before, but if I had to make a guess, I'd say that flying castle probably belongs to them."

It was risky to make such an assumption, but it was all he had to go off of. His lackluster intel gathering really hadn't paid off, but what could he do. At least it gave him an idea of what they might be dealing with if for some reason they were detected on the ground below, or if somehow his presence before had been noticed.

"With all that said, I think we have a few paths forward open to us," he continued on. "We can continue forward and hope we have no problems with what is overhead, we can go back into the jungle and keep ourselves covered until all that goes away, or, well, that's all I have really. If any of you have ideas, feel free to throw them out." Two options that hardly did them any good, yet here he was suggesting them. With everything going on, he wasn't even sure what the best option was. Obviously the Stadium was his desired option, but if it put them in immediate danger with everything in the skies overhead, then he figured waiting it out was the better play. However, he wasn't sure how much waiting they could afford to do. For all he knew, him and Inkling, along with Bowser and Ridley overhead, could be the only fighters not present at the Stadium already. If that was the case, then getting there at the earliest time possible was for the best. Still, he refused to make such a decision without some kind of input from the others first.

The air was still and quiet as it was late into another Sarasaland night. The once scorching heat underneath the desert region quickly began to cool down as the moon ascended, and the general hustle and bustle of the palace slowed down to an absolute crawl. The various Toads who had served as citizens, servants and guards to the palace were getting ready to end their day, leaving only the night watchmen to keep vigilant in case of any potential dangers from coming into the palace.

However, they had yet to consider what would happen if someone tried to get out. In particular, the very woman of whom they served under; The Blossoming Princess of Sarasaland, Daisy.

She had waited for this moment for quite some time. Another long day of her duties as a Princess, and another day where she longed to finally leave the palace walls. It had been a year since she had witnessed a shocking discovery of a wax-sealed letter courtesy of Peach Toadstool; recommending her as a fully-fledged participant to the Super Smash Brothers Tournament. It left her surprised - it wasn't often nowadays that she found herself away from her paperwork, guest appearances and all of the other general responsibilities that came with being a part of the monarchy - and now a Princess was thrown into a tournament where she had to fight?! To the common folk of Sarasaland, this was nigh unthinkable.

Some of her advisors showed visible surprise to the fact that a lady like Daisy would even be accepted when she didn't look like much of a fighter... and while that was partially correct, it was her desire to break the mold of her dull days which was what caused Daisy to resort to diplomacy to convince her subjects to enter. In the end they gave in - on the condition that she were to represent Sarasaland in the Tournament. Thus Daisy, a tomboyish lady with a lack of 'true' one-on-one combat experience but a lot of attitude and spunk to compensate found herself face to face with a lot of powerful fighters. To say that Daisy did well would be far from the truth, but it only went to show how the flower princess was more inexperienced than she thought she was. And she loved it. The challenge, the action, the adventure! She desired more!

'Everything is silent... I think they've all left... Now's my chance!'

And thus, she found herself creeping through the hallways of her palace, attempting to dash to and from cover in her yellow gown in order to shelter herself from the bright lanterns of her own nightwatchmen. She knew these palace walls like the back of her gloved hand, but she were to get caught, things would look suspicious. Her public face as a benevolent ruler and a kind lady was something that was going to be lost inevitably as she wanted to... but to be caught sneaking out would be something that Daisy knew that she couldn't deal with at the time. She weaved through security deftly, clinging onto what hope she had that nobody would be wise of her presence. Eventually, she found herself deep in one of the palace basements, where upon feeling on one of the sandstone walls behind a barrel, she pressed on what seemed to be a strange switch. It made a quiet click as an opening revealed itself... an opening which revealed a red and white striped Warp Pipe.

"A-ha!"

She couldn't help but to exclaim with a deep excitement. She was in the clear, at least for now. The palace was rife with hidden passages and secrets in case of emergencies, and even though she knew that people would absolutely discover her absence soon enough - she'd at least have enough time for now that she could finally revisit the friends she made during the Tournament a year ago. For too long she had been cooped up in her palace - and no longer could she rely on Peach's invitations to various parties, kart races and a wide assortment of sports. It was about time she took the initiative and put a bit more excitement into her own life.

Daisy took one last look of the palace basement. Nobody was there, at least she thought that was the case. With the idea that the coast was clear, she grinned from ear-to-ear, before the imagery of a graceful princess suddenly broke apart as Daisy ran to the Warp Pipe, jumping high into the air and cannonballing straight down into the pipe!

- - -

"Yeah!"

The darkness of a cold night was replaced with a sunny day as the familiar 'bwoop, bwoop, bwoop' noise of the Warp Pipe signaled Daisy's entrance into the World of Trophies. Jumping high into the air and landing on the soft grass delicately, she proceeded to take in her surroundings. A nice cooling wind, the lush smell of flowers and the chirping of songbirds that filled the air. It almost felt like she was at Peach's garden enjoying some tea with a close friend. It almost felt... nostalgic. With both Princesses being busy with their own work and duties aside from their usual get-togethers with all of their friends, Daisy felt an odd rush of nostalgia in the Plains.

That was when she spotted a familiar set of characters on the corner of her eye. Goombas. The classic cannon fodder of Bowser's immense army and a general nuisance to anybody who happens to stray into their close proximity. There she noticed what seemed to be four, maybe five of the mushroom foes, before she turned to the direction of them and smiled. If Mario and Luigi could do it, what's her excuse into not giving it a try herself? Calmer minds would have deduced that Goombas weren't even meant to be in the Plains to begin with, but Daisy didn't bother. She was reveling in the excitement as much as she could.

Taking a running start, she gripped onto her gown with a free hand as she raced towards the mushroom foes, before she launched herself into the air once more - this time to do what Goombas were best for - stomping.

"Hah! Ho! Yah! Hi-yah!"

With a satisfying show of grace and agility, Daisy proceeded to line up the Goombas with a chain of swift stomps, bouncing on one, then another, continuing on with her momentum before she landed in front of one more - who at the time, was surprised and shaking at the fact that his brethren suddenly had their heads caved in by a Princess and her designer high heels. It was obvious what was going to happen next.

"HAH! Take this!"

Daisy exclaimed, as a swift kick was more than enough to punt what was the final trembling Goomba away, it landing headfirst into the grass with a thud as the Princess danced to herself, laughing and taunting her defeated 'foes'.

"Aw yeah! Uh-huh! I could get used to this!"

Still in a bit of disbelief that she went as far as to wink to somebody like Captain Falcon, Annette turned around as per his notice the towering structure before her; the temple that the group were searching for. How she didn't notice it earlier was beyond her understanding at the time, but she had been beaten and overwhelmed by so many other things today that it had only warranted a shake of her head, in disbelief of the sprawling and dangerous grounds seemingly wrapped in various vines and plant life.

"Oh."

Seemed like her quest to get out of the Swamp hasn't yet finished. If anything, it was clear that she wasn't going anywhere without the help of the group before her, as Falcon proceeded to introduce them to her. Immediately as he spoke, she tried to at least make an understanding on who they were... or at least try to.

First of all was quite obviously Douglas J. Falcon. If how he treated her still didn't explain anything, it was a little apparent to the others - especially Yoshi - that she was miraculously charming him and probably bringing out one of the most annoying aspects of his personality. At the very least the most he did was flirt. She did find him a little insufferable and very much asking for somebody to give him a fist to his face how he was behaving at the moment, but after how she acted it was already too late to do a complete 100% and hit Falcon. She had to be the better person here.

Then there was Shadow, the strange red and black looking porcupine she spotted before. Even with what little information he directly revealed, she couldn't help but to have his doubts about him. The Ultimate Life Form? And it's a being like him? Surely more powerful life forms have been spotted already, right? Especially in these dangerous lands... around him, Annette knew to at least keep caution. Juuuuuuuuust in case.

Of course, one could not have forgotten Link in spite of the lack of anything resembling a sound to her ears. He didn't speak yet, and his fashion sense was admittedly a little tacky, but aside from those two details, he seemed perfectly fine. A little strange granted the silence but at least he looked like he was somebody who could hold their own and help her out.

Last but not least, the green dinosaur that had revealed to be Yoshi. Broken speech aside, it was apparent by both Falcon's words and his own behaviour that despite being a more simple-minded creature; he was a damn friendly one at that. He had the idea to show some courtesy without trying to spout some nonsense unlike the Captain and while Annette was not one to really nitpick around those details, it was nice to be greeted respectfully.

"Call it just a hint of curiosity, but might I ask as to why you four were going to the Temple? As much as I would love to go back to my search, I don't believe I will be able to unless I were to assist you, correct?"

That was it; get into their good books and show that you can assist them. Reaching out to her back, she pulled out what appeared to be a large, two-handed weapon, looking both as if it were an axe and a warhammer mashed together into a powerful, ancient tool of destruction. In spite of her delicate, scholarly appearance as well as the sheer girth of the weapon, it seemed a little clumsy and sluggish in her hands, but strangely comfortable; as if the weapon was made perfectly for her.

"If so, I'm afraid to say that I don't have any tomes for magic at hand, as I've left them back home... But I can still fight alongside you all!"

F-Zero_-_Captain_Falcon_as_seen_in_F-Zero_GX_and_F-Zero_AX (1).pngCaptain Falcon stands back in amazement as he witnesses Annette pull out a large ax-hammer, seemingly out of thin air "Hooooly moly! Is that and ax... Warhammer...HYBRID?! Oh my gosh! Wow, you are WAY stronger than your frame entails, like that is so cool! She might just beat you in the weapons department, Link!" Captain Falcon laughs, still astonished by the display. "Well hey, if you're down to help out, we don't mind at all! Granted, you don't have to join us. It was just gonna be a guy thing. Explore some ancient ruins perhaps. Loot some corpses maybe. Fight off some cave-dwellers. Just a new experience for most of us! However, if you and Yoshi need to get dropped off somewhere, I can certainly do that for you guys! My Falcon Flyer should be on it's wa-" Captain Falcon is interrupted by a beeping sound coming from his helmet. "What the-...Wait...That...That's not right..."
