(I'm not good at maps . . . )

[fieldset]
Welcome to Sunnybrooke. A quiet farming town where everyone knows each other's names. Some families have been here for generations, from the farmers to the mayor and even the shopkeepers. Others have just moved here from other parts of the country. But all are ready to make a living here. How will your story go? Will you stay in Sunnybrooke and raise a family? Or will you move to the big city? Will you make friends? Enemies? Love? Well, that's up to you. But strange forces lurk in the earth beneath Sunnybrooke. Will it disrupt your peaceful life?
[/fieldset]

This is a roleplay about a small Harvest Moon/Rune Factory-esque town who begin to discover the unusual secrets about their "normal" town. The roleplay will last 2 IC years, 120 IC days.

    • No godmodding, powerplaying, metagaming, etc. The only exception is that, should someone be unable to post for an extended amount of time and we cannot move on due to it, I reserve the right to have your character move out of scene. Also if it’s for setting a scene, such as if something happens where everyone is knocked out and wakes up somewhere else, etc.

    • Please be respectful of other roleplayers. Any issues you have, please pm me first, so that I can be aware of the issue and hopefully help resolve it.

    • No reservations. I won’t wait for WIPs to finish if it would take too long and I should be alerted as to when they’re completed. I don’t know if just tagging me in the completed app will work, so it’d be best to tag me in a new post or message me.

    • All characters must be human. No magic. No powers. No supernatural blood.

    • There is nearly no combat in this rp, so any heavily combat oriented characters will be denied. That doesn’t mean you can’t have some sort of training, but it has to make sense for the setting. Like archery for hunting purposes.

    • I also want the rp to have a generally light-hearted tone, at least in the beginning, so I will also deny any characters I feel will be unsuiting to the setting, such as those with backgrounds that are too dark to not make sense or “psycho” characters.

    • Characters that receive a like have been accepted. Characters that have been denied will receive a pm with the reason as to why. If neither happens, I’ve either haven’t read the character or I happen to have you ignored, for whatever reason. Feel free to remind me if you think it’s the former.

    • Any changes made to the cs after acceptance must be discussed with me. Should I find that someone has edited their cs in a significant way without alerting me, the cs will be denied. Especially if such edits break the rules

Character Sheet

(Also, anyone between 5 and 17, 18 if you haven’t graduated yet, will be students and can’t have an official job, but can work part time for an adult. If it’s someone else’s character, then please ask first. In case, certain characters don’t hire part time work.)
Plot: (Farmers should choose an F plot for the location for their farm. Everyone else should pick a non-F plot for their home/business. It'll be assumed that except for certain jobs like teachers, you will be living where you work. The mayor and innkeeper’s plots have already been decided.)
Appearance: (Please include height.)

Background: (Please note that due to this being a really small town, long time residents will know this information. The only exceptions being people who’ve moved to Sunnybrooke within the last year and things that would, reasonably, be kept secret on purpose. Please specify if either case or any information is fair game. If you want to keep secrets by omitting the information, then please pm it to me so we can discuss and so that we can see if the info would be canon. Any surprise vital information dumped in the ic randomly will be ignored.)

  • Frost.png Name: Frost Innig
    Age: 20
    Role: Farmer - Vegetables
Frost is the main farmer and head of his family’s farm, Baumann Acres. Though there is a few animals and a small plot of land for his sister’s flowers, their main export is various vegetables, particularly root vegetables. Their main crops are potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes, onions, garlic, beets, and cabbage. There is 1 milking cow, 3 chickens, 2 sheep, and a lamb on the farm.

    Appearance
    :
    Height: 5’10”
    Personality:
Frost, like his name sake, can appear cold, bossy, and even a bit rude. A strict and hardworking young man, he doesn’t like to waste his time of small talk and pleasantries, opting for shortest distance between two points. But he is a genuinely caring person, especially towards his family. He’s not the type to leave a good friend in need. Frost has a big sense of responsibility, believing it falls on his shoulders to provide for his family. Though he does accept help from Snow, he tends to bear all the heavy work on himself.

He can be a bit hard on others with his expectations, but he is hardest on himself, always striving to do things the correct way the first time around. A quick thinker and take charge sort of guy, he’s the sort to act first and with everything he’s got. And because of this, he doesn’t take well to those who are spoiled, indecisive, half-hearted or slow. To these people, his responses are even shorter and he goes out of his way to avoid them. He may not try to keep his siblings away from them without believing them to be shady or dangerous.

    Background:
When he was younger, Frost was a much more cheerful and open person. He still kept that air of maturity and responsibility, but he definitely smiled more. And why shouldn’t he? HIs family was healthy and happy and everything was going well.

Frost and his twin sister, Snow, had always had a love of music, looking forward to the annual Music Festival even more than Gift Day or Leisure Day. When his father bought him his first violin at the age of 8, he couldn’t have been happier. Any time not dedicated to school or helping out on the farm, he spent on practicing and he learned quickly. He began performing with Snow during the Music Festival when he was 10. Each year, the twins put on their best shows and would get much praise for their talents.

Frost had no intentions of taking over the farm. Instead, he and Snow had planned to leave Sunnybrooke and become famous musicians. With his violin and her voice, they’d make money to send home doing what it was they loved. As they approached 18 and their graduation, they got more and more excited. Frost had prepared supplies, maps and plans. The entire town was ready to send them off.

But that never happened. While on a delivery, Frost’s parents died in an accident when the family’s wagon drove off the road during a storm. Their deaths affected all three of the siblings. But now Frost and his twin were faced with a dilemma. Eis was only 7 at the time, way too young to take care of himself. The townspeople offered to take care of the little boy and the farm, urging the twins to go off on their dreams.

But, after a lot of thinking, both had decided to stay and take care of their little brother. Frost doesn’t regret his decision, but it’d be a lie to say that it didn’t affect him. Once he began taking over the farm, he became more hardened and strict. He put away his violin for good and hasn’t touched it in 3 years. It’s safe to say he doesn’t perform at the Music Festival anymore and doesn’t really like going anymore.

    Skills:
    • Violin - Frost has been playing violin since he was a kid. He's talented but hasn't picked it up in 3 years.
    • Shotgun - As a kid, Frost’s father taught him to use a gun to deal with the “bears” that would come and wreck their farm sometimes. He had ordered one for protection when he and Snow would leave the town, but makes sure it’s locked away and unloaded to keep it out of Eis’ hands.
    • Dance - Frost has been dancing with Snow since they were kids. He’s a bit rusty though, not doing it in 3 years.
    • Botany - Due to years of working on the farm, Frost is familiar with various types of vegetables and plants. Mostly roots, vegetables and mushrooms.
    • Strength - Again, due to years on the farm, Frost is very strong for his size and is used to heavy lifting.
    Other:
    • Frost really hates tourists.
    • Frost has a bass clef pendant he usually keeps in his pocket, hanging it on his belt.
    • He is always wearing gloves to protect his hands.

Name:
Beowulf "Liam" Croswick
(is generally called by his middle name Liam)

Age:
22

Role:
Astronomer

Plot:
16
Appearance:
Around 5'9

Personality:
To say the least Beowulf is an interesting fellow, he's upbeat and as curious as a child. Passionate about the stars, constellations, galaxies, and anything that isn't on this plant. While he might act childish most of the time Beowulf is actually surprisingly intelligent... well he is an certified Astronomer after all. He's a very hard worker, spending countless sleepless nights studying and observing the stars in the night sky, some townsfolk poke fun at him, saying that he's nocturnal. There's been a few too many cases of someone finding a certain Astronomer passed out in the forest after a failed night of recording constellations and star movement.

Behind his headstrong and childish demeanor there Beowulf is actually quite awkward, he is a nerd after all. He isn't very sociable and he feels immense pressure when talking to strangers, starting conversations, or er... anything else that involves making eye contact with other people. Most of the time Beowulf tries to hide his huge love for Astronomy, he tries to act mature like a real college graduate, but sometimes his childish side c

Background:
Beowulf grew up in a larger city, it's actually quite the distance from Sunnybrooke. From a young age Beowulf had a love for the night sky, it blew his mind that in a few hours the sky could go from a soft blue, then to a celebration of oranges, yellows, and reds. Then it would die down into a black ocean with little white lights. Every night a young Beowulf would stare out of his bedroom window, gazing at the white little dots in the sky. School was terrible for him, and with a name like Beowulf and a love for science and the starts it wasn't long before other students began to pick on him. This lasted all the way through elementary, middle, and Highschool and at the end of it all Beowulf left as quickly as he could, getting into a college quickly and excelling through their Astronomy program. He graduated at record time and he set his eyes on a small farming town, Sunnybrooke. There wasn't any air pollution there, so Beowulf could easily view the stars. After saving up some money he bought a small house and now Beowulf has recently moved in, ready to start his new life.

Skills
:
Intelligent: He's a college graduate after all. If you have a question about the stars or science in general, he's your guy.

Observant: If anyone could notice of something was out of place, it would be Beowulf.

Fast runner: For a nerd he can sure run really fast.

Optimistic: I mean, someone has to find the silver lining in everything.

Characters who've been accepted, please head over to the ooc thread to discuss relationships between characters. We can obviously assume that everyone is amicable to each other, but if we want to establish things like friendships, pasts and dynamics, there is where to go.

Name:
Cyrille Segal
Age:
26
Role:
Rye farmer. A majority of Cyrille's plot is dedicated to this grain, as it has extensive uses as flour, bread, and even alcohols. She also has two cows for the sake of milking, and a dog(female Belgian Shepherd.)
Plot:
F-2
Appearance:
Cyrille stands at 5'6", keeps her deep brown hair at shoulder length, and has eyes are deep a brown as her hair. She's fairly muscular, thanks to the nature of her occupation, and is almost always seen wearing outdoors-friendly clothing. Generally, this includes a slightly larger than necessary pair of jeans, and a plain cotton shirt.
Personality:
Cyrille, being someone not native to Sunnybrooke, tries to be courteous to everyone. However, her nature tends to be quite a bit more rough, and she can often comes off as rude or needlessly blunt when she's not paying particular attention to who she's talking to. Cyrille almost never actually tries to be rude, however. She's very sociable, and spends much of her free time in the town square, with her dog, Onyx.
Background:
Cyrille has lived on a farm nearly her whole life, being born into it. She lived rather far from any large cities, with her parents and two older brothers. However, there was a drought in the area she lived, and forced her parents to sell the land and migrate to the city. Here, Cyrille constantly felt crowded and shoved into a small box. She couldn't even keep one of her two dogs, giving it up to another family from nearby her previous home. Once she was 17, being of age to move out, she immediate did so, bringing her dog, Onyx, with her. She had learned of a farmer's town placed quite a ways away from the city she had lived in for the past five years. She was able to gather the money to both move and buy one of the farm plots of this town named Sunnybrooke, and began her life there.
Skills:
- Botany and Zoology*: Cyrille has extensive knowledge of animals and domesticated plants, having focused on the subject even while she was living in the city
- Dancing: If there was one thing Cyrille enjoyed about the city, it would be that she was able to take dance classes for the full five years of living there. She still practices whenever possible, often while having semi-drunken fun in the town square
- Cooking: Due to over a decade of working with animals and plants, Cyrille has picked up quite the mastery in this category. She can make even a few loaves of bread and vegetables look like a feast.
Other: *Not sure if these should be counted as separate skills; I'll treat is as two, just in case

Why does no one want to be born in Sunnybrooke? You get knowledge of super secret pretty nature spots. D: I'm kidding. Not about the super secret pretty nature spots though. Right now everyone knows about the star gazing hill, but there are more. :3c

I didn't even realize most people weren't being born there, or I would have had Cyrille be a native

Name: Maximilian Snyder
Nicknames: Max, Snyder
Age: 21
Role: Librarian
Plot: 4(library) and 8(home)
Appearance:
5'11"
452bc0d8e4295b905b6eb0ce7bc7259e--blonde-boys-blonde-hair.jpg

Personality:

Maximilian is rather outgoing, wanting to be friends with anyone who will pay attention to him. This undoubtedly counteracts his love for books, as you can't really be loud and talkative while trying to read the climax of a story. When he's not working, he tries to make everyone's day at least a little bit better, mainly doing so by being his energetic, optimistic self.
Background:
Max's family has owned and run the library of Sunnybrooke for as long back as his family has actually lived here. When he was very young, he used to despise reading or anything to do with books in general. He would have rather spent his time outdoors playing in the dirt than reading a book or helping out in the library. However, something clicked inside his head shortly after he turned 10; it was then when his insatiable love for literature began. Max's parents suddenly found him sitting on piles of books, reading them just as often as they'd previously had found him caked in mud and in ripped clothing-that were definitely fine when they sent him out. After completing a majority of the children's section by the time he was 13, he was more than happy to work in the library, although his general loud-ness was sometimes a problem. He continued on this path until he got an "official" job at the library, which really meant he got a small portion of money from his parents to go off to other parts of town and buy himself things so the library would have a few hours of silence. However, this eventually worked against him as he'd eventually saved up enough money to have a piano delivered to the front door of their home, which was practically the queue for him to get a home of his own, at 19 years old.
Skills:
-Library Navigation:
After working, and practically living, in a library for the past 12 years, he's able to organize and navigate the library with absolute ease. He's often complimented for his efficiency at his occupation, although he himself feels the amount of noise he makes should negate more than just a little of the praise he receives.
-Socializing: From small talk to deep, one-on-one conversations, Max can manage to talk with just about anyone about anything, able to sympathize with most, although not able to actually empathize for the most part.
-Acting: After reading countless plays throughout the years, Max started practicing acting two years ago. He's not great, but is, of course, better than when he first started.
Other:
-The library building is two floors, with the first being the library itself, and the second being Maximilian's childhood home and where his parents live.

Piper Bryce
Age : 22
fd214337ffdba13fc64eb387c158d54a--i-am-bad-celestine.jpg

Role : Piper is a teacher and will often assist her grandparents at the Inn which her grandparents currently own and run.

Plot : Inn and the School

Appearance : Piper is the spitting image of her grandmother, only about 50 years younger. She keeps her ashy blonde hair cut short above her shoulders. Her eyes are fawn-brown with a few specks of forest green and gold peaking through. She's 5'4 on her right and a smidge off 5'4 on her left due to a prosthetic leg beneath the knee.

Personality : For a girl with a rougher childhood than some, she's developed into a cheery adult. Piper doesn't let her handicap get her down or limit her from helping with whatever possible. She has a knack for interacting with people and being friendly while maintaining a comfortable aura around her, both important for the guests.
34745e46c42de5fe48ea9d8e913bee47.png

Background : Piper was actually born in Sunnybrooke but only lived there for 5 years before moving out of the family home to follow her father's job all the way to a large city. The transition proved difficult for the rural-raised little girl because just a few months after moving her life was changed by the bumper of a car. The accident took her left leg from the knee down. At first Piper's parents saw their little girl close herself off from the world. Slowly, however, she began to realize that there was so much she was still able to do - Piper started cooking and reading and picking up hobbies and before long she had returned to her normal self. Fast forward to 17 when she stopped growing and her parents surprised her with a prosthetic limb so it was easier for her to move around.

Piper didn't ever really forget her roots though and so she decided that once she finished school, for which she graduated under public relations and education, she would head back to little ol' Sunnybrooke and help her grandparents in their inn. She's been there for only a little over 2 months and has hardly stopped moving. When the inn isn't too busy she's a teacher and an avid collector of knowledge.

Skills :
People Person : Piper is wonderful at talking to people and assessing what it might be that they need. Because of her own situation she's developed intense empathy.

Cooking : While so far it's just a hobby she enjoys cooking and baking. On slower days and special occasions she can always be found dabbling around in the staff kitchen or delivering treats to customers.

Curiosity : She's never really let go of her childish ambitions and, while she has to be a bit more careful what with her leg and all, there's almost nothing that she isn't interested in.

Intelligent : While Piper was younger and temporarily immobile she took to reading anything and everything she could get her hands on. She began to study for fun and this trend and love for learning extended into college where she practically lived in the library and scored highly on her exams. This skill in addition with her natural curiosity have inspired her teaching.

November

Name: November "Novi" Russel-Lloyd
117b2e0b8786b8f457b138b26ed99959.jpg

Age: 8 yea- "I'm 8 and a half!"

Role: Student, avid bird-watcher and apple picker.

Plot: She lives on plot 10 with her parents.

Appearance: At just about 4'2" this little girl is a bundle of love and playfulness. She has red hair and brown eyes that are more golden than deep chocolate. Novi's skin is a little more tan than others because she's constantly outside, or wait, maybe it's because she's always in the dirt.

Personality: Novi is what you would call... a wild heart. This little redhead has a fire within her that comes out in bursts of adventurous energy. Climbing trees, swimming, running around in general, she loves anything that might get her covered in a little bit of dirt, much to her parents dismay. Nonetheless this playful kid is more than just a fireball, she also knows how to be polite and quiet. This part of her usually comes out around adult strangers, which can be intimidating for her. When she isn't running around Novi has a very gentle and sweet side, making her almost the 'mom' friend in her group.

Background: Sunnybrooke born n' raised, honey. Well, is it considered to be raised if she's only 8 years old? We'll go with yes. Her family has been living on plot 10 for as long as the line goes. Her parents and their extended family all come together to share F-1, generating a rich apple orchard that always has bright shiny fruits every fall. It's one of her favorite places to run around, especially when the trees are in bloom. For now Novi is an only child, but she's always wanted a little brother. The only damper on this dream is that, before Novi, her parents had issues with miscarriage and so they're nervous to extend their family now that they have a darling little girl.

Skills:
1. Tree-climbing - This little girl is practically a monkey. Her friends had to make it a rule that she couldn't hide in the trees because they couldn't reach her.
2. Bird-watching - Novi set up a little bird-feeder in her backyard and loves sitting around and watching all their colors flying in and out to taste the seedy treat. Sometimes squirrels come and nibble at it too, which her parents say is a bad thing, but sometimes she'll put a little peanut butter on there to encourage them to come ("D-don't tell my mom.")

Other: "I love, love, love birds! They're so pretty with all their feathers and pretty singing voices. I heard Eis' sister sing once. I think she might be a bird too, ehe.
