Welcome to Sunnybrooke. A quiet farming town where everyone knows each other's names. Some families have been here for generations, from the farmers to the mayor and even the shopkeepers. Others have just moved here from other parts of the country. But all are ready to make a living here. How will your story go? Will you stay in Sunnybrooke and raise a family? Or will you move to the big city? Will you make friends? Enemies? Love? Well, that's up to you. But strange forces lurk in the earth beneath Sunnybrooke. Will it disrupt your peaceful life?

This is a roleplay about a small Harvest Moon/Rune Factory-esque town who begin to discover the unusual secrets about their "normal" town. The roleplay will last 2 IC years, 120 IC days.
- No godmodding, powerplaying, metagaming, etc. The only exception is that, should someone be unable to post for an extended amount of time and we cannot move on due to it, I reserve the right to have your character move out of scene. Also if it’s for setting a scene, such as if something happens where everyone is knocked out and wakes up somewhere else, etc.
- Please be respectful of other roleplayers. Any issues you have, please pm me first, so that I can be aware of the issue and hopefully help resolve it.
- No reservations. I won’t wait for WIPs to finish if it would take too long and I should be alerted as to when they’re completed. I don’t know if just tagging me in the completed app will work, so it’d be best to tag me in a new post or message me.
- All characters must be human. No magic. No powers. No supernatural blood.
- There is nearly no combat in this rp, so any heavily combat oriented characters will be denied. That doesn’t mean you can’t have some sort of training, but it has to make sense for the setting. Like archery for hunting purposes.
- I also want the rp to have a generally light-hearted tone, at least in the beginning, so I will also deny any characters I feel will be unsuiting to the setting, such as those with backgrounds that are too dark to not make sense or “psycho” characters.
- Characters that receive a like have been accepted. Characters that have been denied will receive a pm with the reason as to why. If neither happens, I’ve either haven’t read the character or I happen to have you ignored, for whatever reason. Feel free to remind me if you think it’s the former.
- Any changes made to the cs after acceptance must be discussed with me. Should I find that someone has edited their cs in a significant way without alerting me, the cs will be denied. Especially if such edits break the rules
Sunnybrooke is a small town in a nonexistent world where each year is just 60 days. The closest town is 3 hour drive away with the closest city being at least half a day's travel. If I were to describe it culture wise, it'd be a lot like those villages you see in rpgs, small close knit with not much there, but there are some technological advancements. Phones and trains would be a thing, though cell phones and computers are not. Cars would be for the wealthy only, seen mainly in big cities.
Religion: The people of Sunnybrooke believe in the one true goddess, Gaia, personification of life and nature. It is her love and mercy that provides for her children. There are no strict practices, but it’s generally accepted that people must respect nature. The Harvest Festival is usually seen as a celebration of Gaia. There isn’t an official church in Sunnybrooke.
Landmarks: Sunnybrooke is surrounded by forests on 3 sides (north, east and west) except for the area cleared for roads. To the north, past the forest, are some mountains. And to the south is a large lake. In the forests and mountain, there are certain special landmarks, known by most of the residents. The most famous, and often a tourist spot, is the star gazing hill, a hill to the east that’s usually filled with a rainbow of flowers and has the best view of the night sky. Also, at the town square is a huge tree surrounded by a moat-like fountain. Others will probably be listed when it becomes relevant.
The Sunnybrooke calendar is separated into 4 seasons with each season having 15 days each, so a 60 day year.
Holidays and Festivals:
- Spring 1 - New Year Festival - A festival celebrating the start of a new year. There is a bonfire which people dance around, fireworks and everyone writes down their wishes for the new year to tie to the great tree in the middle of town.
- Spring 6 - Family Day - A day to celebrate families with a series of games where each family or even just friends compete. (3 legged races, scavenger hunt, etc) There’s a scavenger hunt with various prizes.
- Spring 11 - Flower Festival - A festival to celebrate not only flowers but love as well. There is a dance as well as a competition to crown a Rose king and queen (can be decided by either actual rper votes or by dice roll). People write a card and place it on someone's doorstep with a flower to ask them out on a date. If the person comes to the dance wearing that flower, they accepted. If not, well better luck next time.
- Summer 1 - Leisure Day - A day to relax. All stores and shops close for the day and everyone spends the day at the lake, relaxing and playing.
- Summer 6 - Food Day - A day to celebrate food. There's a pie eating contest and a cooking competition to see who can make the best dish decided on the day of the competition. (ex. Like who can make the best chili or something.)
- Summer 11 - Firefly Festival - The day when all the fireflies gather into the sky to perform their mating rituals, though the lore says that they are guiding the souls of lost loves together. Villagers often release small lanterns as well to help.
- Fall 1 - Art Festival - A day to celebrate self expression and art. Villagers can display any works of art they wish to show or be judged in the contest. Or they can draw anything on the stone grounds of the town square with chalk that is provided.
- Fall 6 - Ghosts and Ghouls Festival - A night for spooks and frights. Villagers dress up in costumes and eat various sweets. Throughout the night, someone is chosen to dress up as a ghost or demon and people need to throw candy at him to make the person run away.
- Fall 11 - Harvest Festival - Also considered Gaia’s birthday, a day to thank Gaia for a bountiful harvest. You can enter a crop or animal into a contest and each family brings a dish for a huge town-wide potluck dinner.
- Winter 1 - Snow Festival - A day to celebrate the first snow of the year. There's ice skating, snowball fights and lots of hot cocoa.
- Winter 6 - Music Festival - A day to celebrate music. Villagers gather at the town square for concerts and a big dance.
- Winter 11 - Starry Night Day - One of two days of the year when the stars in the sky shine the brightest. A day to give gifts to your loved ones. There can also be a large town-wide secret santa if you want.
