Can't say it doesn't sadden me, but I suppose practicality wins over graphic appeal when there are so many roleplay games held on a site, possibly needing different functions to excel their potential.
At the end of the day we are trying to provide a service and the thing that powered 1.0 has been plaguing us for a very long time and updating it to 2.0 barely fixed anything. Some would argue that it was worse. Complaints were coming in much faster.

Some people were crashing.

Some people were having things not appear.

For some people the site was all blank.

And much more.

The ability to change colors was a huge portion of the problems and a part of the reason why it lasted so long. We just couldn't replace the functionality.

I made a tough call to remove it all. People will get over it in a few days.
Question about the messages icon in the main page header/bar thing, what is with the dot at the top right of the icon?
I don't know what you are talking about. Could you send me a screenshot?

I don't like the notifications size. I feel that needs some enlarging. The entire header could probably be made bigger.

The option for different color schemes would be marvelous.

Is the little white circle supposed to be in the top right corner of the PM envelope when I don't have any new messages? It keeps tricking me into thinking I have a new message and I don't xD .

I think this a poor choice to force other users to adapt to this style. You should've left multiple opition so the user decides for themselves rather than just forcing everyone to adopt this style. I perfer the older style since it allowed some degree of customization. Now all users are stuck with the same generic outline.

Not happening. This is what was plaguing the site in the first place, theres no decent way of doing this on a super large site with out supporting mulple styles, which makes it ten times worse.

At least with Ad Styler, it was all one Style and saved it in your browser with caches and cookies and various other obnoxious codes. Which was the problem to begin with.

I think it's a good thing in the long run, sure... the nice colors people might could do (I never bothered with it) might be missed, but the site so far has never been faster, if he can make options for people without causing major issues, I'm sure he'll do it. If not, we'll have to adjust to the blue...thank gosh my favorite color is blue xD ^^.

Didn't we just have to clear the cache and cookies?

Also, I think she meant the icon for Message/Conversation. there's a funky dot to the top right of the icon; a letter would suffice.

*Claps*

Yes, we will miss features on the previous style, but at least you will still have RpN as a whole.

Finally after, like, what 2-3 hours of just talking about things and getting Wiz updates on bugs and glitchy things, we have RpN 3.0!

Beautiful, wonder RpN.

@The Dark Wizard, here is a screenshot. As you can see all the way at the top right, there is a small circle at the top right of the messages icon.

Well when you have an army of designers and programmers at your beck and call, let me know.

The site is currently run by volunteers who give their free time out of passion for RPing and for the past two years, we haven't been able to fix it, no matter how much we wanted to keep the ability to change colors.

I made a call after so long to finally get rid of the thing.

I think we should all thank you, Dwiz for the work you put into all of this and for the effort you will put in the site in the future. Kudos to the RPN staff, you guys are great.

I gotta agree with Aldur!

At least we still have RpNation.

Good job, Dark Wizard.

The blue and orange on a grey background is a little hard on the eyes, but the change is nice.

Nothing to fear, that is for everyone. It's just part of the icon.

Right. If some users have issues they use this style. If other users don't have issues which is a large majority you could leave the older option since it won't affect them.

So all the new features and stuff have to be coded for one style and then a broken style?

No thanks.

Thanks for the clarification, that's what i thought it was all along.

@The Dark Wizard would options of different colors work? Like remember the 7 sin bar we had with the different colors? or was that a problem too?
That was all part of the ad styler.

I'm already working on some ideas, but it won't be ready for a while.
oohh..I didnt know that it was part of the ad styler xD
Yeah.

Thankfully, things like font and basic background colors are just a matter of tweaking some CSS declarations. @The Dark Wizard did a LOT of legwork to get this all put together and even though I too prefer 2.0's visual style (I was fond of the narrower site, larger font, and the sans serif font), I can already tell this version runs a lot smoother.

After Wizard has gotten a nap and 3.0 has been up for a few days, we can start talking about things we'd like to have changed back. In the meantime, any users who have complaints, I'd like you to keep a list - maybe in the Private Workshop or on a Google Doc, somewhere - for future discussion and as always, bugs should be reported in Site Information.

In other news though,

The site isn't super white or super dark any more. I know a lot of people were complaining that 2.0 was way too bright.

Then I'd very much like to see the color changed. The current style is a bit hard on the eyes.

Does the whatever site package you're supporting not support multiple style sheets like VB does?
