It is a time of War in the Galaxy. The Republic and the Separatists are still at each others throats, and world's across the Galaxy suffer from it. To help combat intense situations or special operations, the Jedi Council has agreed to create a special task group that responds directly to them. This group has been surnamed Rancor Ops; an elite group of Jedi, Clones, Mercenaries, and others. As of now, they are lead by Jedi Master Kataan Gulun onboard the Republic Cruiser Insurgence, headed to the planet Malastare for their first mission.

Markus Khel lazed in his quarters aboard the Insurgence, brooding. One question in particular was on his mind. "What the hell am I doing here?" He was just an ordinary Chiss slicer for hire, yet here he was on a Republic Cruiser on a special assignment. Rancor Ops, that's what his friend had said. Republic was willing to pay big money for a slicer; it was good money, hopefully enough for desperately needed ship repairs, and would keep him on the right side of the law. So why was he so apprehensive?
Jedi. Jedi had always gotten on his nerves. The way they can always tell what someone's thinking or those Lightsabers they always carried. Someone ought to put them in their place... not that he'd be the one to do it. Markus sighed and brought up the holo-news feed for the hundredth time, trying to take his mind off it all...
