Not much merriment when you work with the public. Retail brings the worst out of people and we are expected to be ok with being treated like garbage.

That's why I work as a bouncer these days. I get a comment like "Anyone tell you you're customer service is shit?" and then laugh as I tell them to get out of my building for *insert list of valid reasons to throw a prick out of our bar here*.

That is unfortunate, and you have my sympathies. I never worked retail during the holidays, my wife and mother have both done that, and I do understand and hope things are getting better now.
