Sherwood Sherwood , speaking of credits, have we managed to accumulate any more besides the amount that Axel fleeced from us? I kinda want to buy a second Sidekick Rifle and I just wanted to make sure that was ok.
Haven’t even given that a thought! Thank you for bringing that to my attention.

Everyone gets $50,000 credits that you can spend on what you wish.

So it’s ok for me to get the second Rifle? I don’t want to mess things up game wise.
Yes. Just so you know, this Rifle does not yet have the Mega upgrade until you buy it for the critter. You get to start with 5d4 bio-e at first level, plus 5 more points starting at level 2. You can save the points or spend them on what you’d like

Innocent Question, Can we use our cash to by more BIO-e for our host armor??? We Roughnecks are not as blessed in getting BIO-e as the almighty Dreadguards do. ;-)

I’ll say yes, at the cost of 1,000 credits for 1 point of Bio-E. This does NOT apply to Psychie Psychie and her Dreadnought armor (Sorry Psy. You are just too tough as it is). So with the cash you just got you and Purr Purr can buy another 50 bio-e if you so choose.

Now I have to make some tough choices...

Need an opinion for Jin...which one should I get of the following?

1. Super Regeneration
2. Force Field
3. Another mounted weapon or two (Bio Energy Vent or bio energy melee or something else) (Jin only has two mounted weapons, her now Mega Heat Cannon and her fists)
4. Antenna
5. Some other sensor...echo location...radar
6. Raise her host armor Splicer strength to PS 36 (from 31)
7. Save money and BIO-e for the conversion to Supernatural Strength
8. Something I had not thought of that would be appropriate for Jin

Jin has 5 BIO-e banked and 50, 000 credits to get another 50. She could get one of the enhancements and buy a cheap weapon (Bio Energy vent or claws or something)

As always, I get a lot of analysis paralysis with this sort of thing, so I wanted to get everyone's opinion on what to get for Jin's host armor

The Mantis Blades do a great amount of damage for the cost of getting Bone Blades for (I think 10 for a pair) then another 10 for the upgrade. A pair of the Mantis ones do 4d4x10 for a dual strike. It is a great backup weapon doing solid damage.

You may have to buy the Bone Blade this level then at level six get the upgrade to the Mantis ones.

For another option, I picked up the resistant to lasers and resistant to ranged attacks upgrades, effectively doubling my MDC against this kind of attacks. It costs about the same as the bio force field, but the force field doesn’t (as far as I can tell) get the benefit from the resistant to whatever that you can buy.

Also, there is for 20 bio e the Optical Upgrade that can be bought for any melee or ranged attack to increase your critical hit range by one. Right now I have it for my main weapon to do a crit on a 17-20, and my Mantis Blades on a 16-20. It can be bought twice per weapon.

While Resistance to lasers is nice...it gives Jin a penalty to her Prowl...which kills her effectiveness as a sniper. The Resistance to Kinetic attacks is nice though...add to the list.

The Optical Upgrades for her Heat cannon is tempting as is the Omni Upgrade for her Heat Cannon to double its range to 3600 ft, more sniper effectiveness. SOOO MAANNNNY CHOICES!!!

If you get an extra sense I would say Echo Location over Radar. You don’t have any really long range weapons that would benefit from Radar, and you get an extra action per melee with either one.

The Optical Upgrade can’t be bought for your Heat Cannon yet since you already purchased the Mega upgrade for it and you can only get one bonus per weapon per level. But once you hit sixth, go for it.

Psychie has a good point about the Resistant to Lasers and the Resistant to Projectiles.

Yeah that goes for the Omni upgrade as well...hmm

more pondering commences,,,

If you are looking for stuff in the sniper role, I wouldn’t worry about the mantis blade upgrade over basic bone claws. You want to stick to ranged combat to reduce your chances of getting hurt with what armor you have.

I’m away from my books at the moment, so I’m not sure if you can get more than one Heat Cannon at once and use them in a dual attack like Toni was doing with her Casting Launchers. If you can, that with Echo Location will be a deadly combo.

And Psychie Psychie i hope you are ok with my not letting you buy more bio-e with credits. Toni is way ahead of the others on her point level as it is and I don’t want to have you completely outpace the others.

50K? And we can buy BIO-E with money? Holy wowzercows! Sign me up!

Eonivar Eonivar I have greatly enjoyed having echolocation for Chaska! It helps find people hidden by Stealth Fields plus Chaska doesn't need to have line of sight to identify most targets. It's an A+ augmentation!

Sherwood Sherwood You have allowed Chaska to use Dual Heat Cannons since the start of the game (see his Character Sheet under Host Armor) - so I'd say that's a yes? =)

I understand. I won’t lie and say that having more bio-e wouldn’t be awesome especially with the dreadnought getting fewer points than the regular Dreadguard. Maybe later on I can get points with credits? Or maybe for my handheld weapons?

Also, we are short-changing ourselves. Do you remember when Chaska looted that trap he found in the tunnels that came with a big bag of cash? And I believe Toni came across some credits too from an enemy Splicer?

Plus, guys, did we ever divide that loot we picked up? I don't think we did.

I wasn’t sure about it off the top of my head, so I wasn’t going to say absolutely yes without checking. Thanks, Purr. Eonivar Eonivar just a reminder, I don’t think you have the points to get the second Heat cannon with the Mega upgrade, but that will still increase your damage.

I will go ahead and say you can buy for your handheld weapons at the same cost.

You most certainly didn’t split that money up. At the moment that 50k is recorded on Toni’s sheet

Now I need to decide if I want to upgrade my first Sidekick or go ahead and get a second.

Splitting the cash four ways gets another 12,500 each

(June 5 2024 post)
Looking inside, Toni can see that the bag is filled with credit chits, at a glance you'd say that there is at least 30,000 or more in there. You'll have to take a minute or two to count it to be sure.

O.K.. So that "at least 30,000 or more" turned out to be 50K!

And on 28 August, Chaska found this along with the coded papers:
There is a small pile of credit chits, probably about 1,000 dollars worth, several days worth of concentrated protein cubes on each (but the ones on the body of the Packmaster are covered in blood - ew!), a handheld Heavy Pod Rifle (Splicers book, pg 136), two Light Cell Laser Pistols (Splicers book, pg 133), an Acid Edged Short Sword (pg 131), and six Chig explosive grenades.

1,000credits/4 = another 250 credits each.

If none of us want these weapons, perhaps we can sell it back to the Kraken?

With the exception of the grenades? If none of you want the grenades then Chaska would like to take them all - grenades have lots of uses.

Thoughts?

I am cool with saving the grenades and if Chaska wants to haul them, go for it. As for the rest of the stuff, I say we sell it aka turn them in for a bonus to the ship.
