Found this on pg. 184:

In the Splicers ® game, a character' s skills are detennined by
his Occupation (O.C.C.).
There are four basic types of skill categories : D.C.C. Skill
Programs (which are bundles of individual Elective Skills),
Elective Skills (additional skills learned through fonnal education
or training), Secondary Skills (picked up along the way)
and Com mon Skills (skills all characters know). Common
Skills are known to all characters, regardless of their O.C.C.,
and include: Basic Mathematics, Speak Native Language, and
Read and Write Native Language.

So you do get to have that skill without spending a slot for it.

Hokay, my Martial Warrior has but 200 M.D.C. for his Main Body. I... think I ought to change my build a bit. Maybe go pure ranged attacker with minimal melee to start.

I've come to the conclusion that the 50 Bio-E that I'm spending on the Forearm Blade (which does a hefty 1d6x10 M.D. + 1d4 M.D. from Robotic strength) is... probably better spent elsewhere (like survival). Perhaps on other ranged items and a forcefield? Maybe a Short-Ranged Spore Discharger (10 Bio-E and the younger sister of the Long-Ranger Mirgris brought forth earlier) and 35 Bio-E on a Bio-Force Field like the one Psychie got for Toni.

This leaves the Martial Warrior with no melee bio-weapons (the Mantis Blades are great, but... incredibly expensive in the long run - some 120 Bio-E for Paired Weapons).

So... what if (my favorite two words in roleplaying)... the Martial Warrior only has maybe an Acid Blade to start with... but he's searching for greater weapons described by the Lost Warriors (the deceased Splicers who specialized in weapon-based martial arts, specifically Zanji Shinjinken Ryu).

Sure, there might not be "Rune Weapons" in this game, but hey! What if somewhere out there there was either a secret bio-upgrade or fabled sword(s)? Well, hey! A Splicer has to adventure for something and who doesn't like a side quest now and then?

What do you think, folks? Especially the one running the game? Sherwood Sherwood My character is built up with two Heat Cannons to protect him at the moment.

Simple stuff like Reinforced Exoskeleton for 5 points adds to the MDC. It helps out. Don't forget that you start out with the Stealth Field; that helps out in keeping you alive.

Both accounted for.

4d4 for Speed from Running, please?

Well, there may not be 'rune weapons', but there are always advances in biotech that you can come across.

Might you include a sword or sword-like item down the road my Martial Warrior could go after? One that would work well with Zanji?

1d6 for Hit Points, please?

If you get Motion Detection for 15 Bio-E, you get Automatic Dodge. That is going to be a big help for me staying alive.

A more advanced melee weapon? It could happen.

Got it.

Hmm. Maybe it would help if I put my rough draft into the Character tab, huh? Heh! =)

I also don't plan on throwing you at any Land Dominators quite yet. I'll wait for at least level three before doing that.

Note: Big Time rough draft here. I am in no way done. =)

If I don't give you this roll, you may not have a leg to stand on! Ha!
